I installed only the things I wanted from the Extended ROM, everything is ok, but I don't use the SPB Pocket Plus anymore and don't have any battery level indicator. I don't need anything fancy, the standard one which comes with windows would be more than enough. But the thing is that I installed that standard CAB which deletes it from the bottom bar.
Is there a way to get it back there without hard reset? I could delete that CAB from the Extended Rom but I don't want to install and set up everything again. A registry hack or sth?
Thx
Hiya, there's a post on this topic already, by Wiz

HTH
Works great!
Thanks a lot!
You might want to look at this instead though. Gives you battery status on every screen, not just the Today page, and only takes up 20k.

I've found that the battery icon in the tray on the today screen is pretty much useless... it doesn't even show the battery as being partially discharged until it gets down to about halfway. Instead I've installed the freeware battery monitor batti (http://www.pocketpcfreeware.com/en/index.php?soft=1382) which works much better and can be seen in any program.
Is there any way to stop the default battery icon from coming up every time?
Thanks,
Brett
I deleted a few of the O2 active stuff from the windows/startup menu. Can't remember which file now, but one of them got rid of the battery icon (among other things).
It's batinfo in Windows/startup
Hmm, what else can we safely delete there then and what do they each do?
Also any way to lose the O2 logo from the title bar as well?
I think the O2 phones have their own battery meter... I haven't seen it, but from what you guys are talking about something is definitely different. My battery meter was a little icon on the tray next to the wireless manager icon. I also didn't have batinfo or any other programs (other than a few third party programs that I installed) in my startup folder.
However, I was able to remove the icon thanks to O2. I downloaded the O2 extended ROM from here...
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Uploads/Universal/Extended ROMs/O2_XDA_Exec_Extended_ROM.zip
And in that rom there is a file called:
Signed_UNI_Remove_BatteryIcon.sa.CAB
I copied that to my Jasjar, installed it, soft reset, and low and behold the battery icon is now gone I have no idea what it did, nor do I know if I can get it back without a hard reset, but I didn't like it anyway, so I'm not upset about it

hiya guys,
after hard resetting my phone there was a small icon on the bottom right of the screen representing the battery power. Now for some reason its gone and i cant get it back. I have to goto settings and look up the power in there. Anyone no how to get this back or if there is an addon i can install to show battery power maybe on the top bar or on the today screen again?
Check your Startup folder to see if Init_Tray.exe is still present.
yeh init_tray.exe is still there, i have got the wifi icon there, just not power
I think the 02 software removes it I noticed the same thing last night
not much good anyway is it , I am happy with the one on the today screen (big one)
yeh problem is ive done a corporate install because its alot quicker without all that o2 stuff on it. Its just weird, coz its been like for like a week, and one day its just not there any more, cant work it out
Yes, if you check the o2 extended rom there's a cab just to remove the battery icon, because they stick one in the title bar instead I think. There's a registry setting that should help you get it back, but I can't recall it right now.

found out how to fix this just incase anyone else is havin this problem. If you goto file explorer and browse to the window directory, theres a program called powertray.exe, open this and there you, power bar back in the system tray
I think I have sorted the problem on the new Imate Rom update showing the battery instead of the clock in the top bar.
I removed the file "Windows\Startup\Init_Tray.exe".
Now the Battery still shows on the Today Screen - But the clock shows on all other screens.
As the clock is shown elsewhere in the Today Screen thats works for me.
I just have to wait and see if removing the Init_Tray.exe creates any problems - if anyone knows, please let me know.
As an alternative, the clock is shown with other things if you use WisBar from here http://www.lakeridgesoftware.com/products.php?prod=WisBar+Advance
You can do the same thing by applying a reg hack or using Tweaks2k. You don't have to remove the init_tray.exe.
heh.. most of the people would consider the Battery vs Time issue to -be- the fact that it disappears on the Today screen. You can still configure the date/time to be displayed in other applications by simply going through the date/time configuration settings last I checked on the status of this.
Go to Control Panel/System/Clock and Alarms
Click on 'More' Tab. Select 'Display the clock on the title bar in all programs'. Click okay
It does the the same thing as what pewe mentioned, but without the hassle. LOL!! I can not believe you didn't spot that!?

Clock Disappearing On Today Screen
The problem with the built in 'show clock in status bar in all programs' is that it woeks for everything except the Today screen. You can add it back in as part of the day date plug in for the today screen, but that takes up space. I preferred the old version where the battery was in the system tray at the bottom, the clock showed at the top and you could add the clock to all other programs. Why do we have to go backwards with these ROM updates? :x
Erm... I belive the problem is to get RID of the battery on the taskbar, and add the clock there for the today screen like it used to be in the older roms... Sadly I've moved back to using an old dopod rom because of this little issue, and i'm not upgrading again till this is fixed
I have install the new ROM and find out that the Battery icon will show on the top right corner, and the time (clock) will show on the same level as the date
I did not find this anoying ??
I will think it's nice to have the Battery icon on the TOP
I'm I missing something ? Is there other catch ?
let me know
thanks
Update : I guess I get it, having the Time not in the top bar, will then bother when you move to other screen then the Home screen. You will then miss the time
hum hum, I have to think and see in a long term if that bother me after all.

I have 2 Wizards and found that the 'Clock on every page' worked on one but not the other, whereas removing the Init_tray.exe worked on both.
Put the file back on both this morning, and now they both work. Weird!!!
what if............
8) 8) What if someone uploads an older init_tray.exe from an original rom and we try that inplace of the current one?? 8) 8)
Can someone upload please and let us know the location?
csian, replacing the init_tray with an older version would likely only give the battery icon in the tray, if that is desired. personally i don't want ANY battery indicator (already use the battery indicator from Pocket Plus) but with the Imate rom, i still get the top bar battery indicator (ugh)... tried all the reg hacks, even with new values just to see how it responds, but didn't find one that removed the battery from the top bar... (sigh)
Just FYI.
So sorry

8) 8) Just thought it was worth a shot because the battery indicator in the tray was really only a link to power settings and not really an indicator. Getting rid of the current battery icon and putting the clock back in the top right corner is what I really want. 8) 8)
I noticed something while resetting my 9100. The clock doesn't disappear from the top bar. It is only covered by the battery meter it seems. It was on my screen for a minute before the battery meter showed up. THis makes me think that some program has been added that may also be able to be deleted.
How about it..............
8) 8) Anyone got an original init_tray.exe they can upload. (Someone with clock still in upper right hand corner of Today Screen) PLEASE. 8) 8)

Here it's and I hope it will help you to get the time back in old style!!!
This file is from T Mobile NL version!
init_tray.exe from Tmobile US MDA original ship rom
here's the init_tray from my Tmobile MDA US (prior to updating to latest kjam).
hopefully someone has some success getting that battery meter off! might scan my older registry from the Tmobile rom to see if perhaps its an entry that was added by tmobile's customizations perhaps?
peace
Edit/Note: just copied init_tray.exe from the US ship rom and all it did was add the battery meter into the tray area and the battery on top stayed.. but that migth be because init_tray.exe is in the rom and still runs... also, even by just disabling init_tray.exe from starting up (i moved the init_tray.lnk from teh startup folder and soft reset but still had the battery meter but didn't have the tray icons showing my wifi connection..) so init_tray might not be the one.. but i could be wrong too.. hehe.. still a new w/wm5 and my mda..
Thanks guy's
8) 8) Ya I tried the older init_tray files and it didn't work for me either. It must be in the registry or a dll somewhere boy I wish we could figure this out. If anyone has a registry dump for a wizard with the clock still at the top I would like to compare to my current registry and see if I can find the culprit. 8) 8)
'd get you one, but I still haven't gotten around to getting a nice clean hard reset.. so mine's littered with crap from botched installs and unclean uninstalls. If anybody else wants to try it - TRE (Tascal Registry Edit) will export the registry to a file.
ok i just flashed my phone to the new t-mobile rom from their site i hae the mda back before i flashed it i did a few things to it and now i cant find those things but here it is maybe someone can help ok i want my battery to be on the tittle bar instead of the bottom right corner also the time use to be on the same line on the home screen as the date. i also had this speed dial app on my homescreen wich i can assign pictures to but when i didnt have pictures they were just blue buttons with the name on it. i believe i got these from this sight but this was way back in like may and i cant seem to find them
where is this new ROM? do u have an URL?
I just wanna get rid of that battery logo
Are you sure you got the right one? As what I can see from their site, here
http://www.tm-phonedownloads.com/download_manager_mda_vario.html
It seems that they dont seems to have any new ROM. Can you try soft reseting it and copy down all the numbers you see on the first screen?
As with the speedial, did you put that in?
yes i put the speed dial in i found it on here and i had also found everything else on here
Would be nice for the rest who reads this to know what you're answer was
The Speeddial plugin is indeed available on this forum. It's a standard plugin from the Treo WM versions..
You can change the icon on the top of your screen by changing the registry:
To show battery:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\ShowTitleBarClock = 0
To show the clock:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\ShowTitleBarClock = 1
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\TBOpt = 1
Ok. I was sooooooo confused with ademoc first post.
What I perceived was `ademoc got a new ROM from T-Mobile which removed all the AKU annoying battery meter and also included a speeddial in Today screen`. Guess I was dreaming.
Anyway, for others, he just flashed his phone and wanted to get all the software he got previously. So help.
ademonc, it is VERY strange that your battery meter is NOT on your top right. If the ROM you are using is the lastest ROM, you should have your battery on the top instead. You may want to try upgrading your ROM again with the file downloaded from T-Mobile webpage. It is not a very straight forward and easy thing to remove the battery meter from the top task bar. There are tons of thread here just to solve that 1 problem.
Anyway, as for your speed dial, here it is
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=919871#263842
ademonc, again, as I said in my previous post, can you soft reset your phone and write down the numbers you get from the 1st screen, just to double check you have the correct ROM. Or, go to Start - Settings - System - Device Information
thanks for yourhelp every one and the rom i just flashed my phone with is from the t-mobile website
Does anybody know if it is in anyway possible to have both the battery indication and the time, shown on the task bar?
Standart it will only show one, depending on your choosings on showin the time in the taskbar at all times.
However, I would really like to have both on there..
spb pocket plus can do the job, though it's roughly 4/5mb for just an extra icon in the titlebar, thought pocket plus has some other feaures besides that, but i am only using it for the battery icon.
Thanks! I will consider this option then..
But if anybody knows if there's a registry setting that will enable both, I'd love to know about it..
This should be possible as standard on the so-called WM 6.5.1 - at least it was possible on the builds (at least 23081) I was using with my Touch Pro2. So if you can wait so long that HTC will release a ROM update using these new builds, you don't necessarily have to purchase a third party program to do the trick. This official ROM upgrade should be available sometime in H1/2010 (or unofficially earlier, if the wizards of xda can come up with HardSPL =) ).
wktask puts a thin battery meter at the top of the screen.
