Well not really "problems" just things i'd like to change.
1)
Notifications. When "new message notification" is on i get a sound, an icon on the windows bar and an annoying as hell popup i must accept or cancel before i can continue typing. This is acceptable if you are browsing and get a message, but hell if you have 3 or 4 chat windows going on at once.
Is it possible to remove the popup message? all i want is the sound & the icon
2)
Copy/paste. I cant click-hold so i cant copy or paste.
Is there a work around?
3)
Follow links.
Can it be done?

I am trying to accesss a web page, but it says that I have a pop-up blocker enable. Not sure if PIE has one built in.
Also on my 8125 I set up a pop account which is working fine, but when I recieve a new message it does not play the notification sound or notification message. In settings>sounds and notifications I have enabled a sound for new e-mail messages, but I get nothing when a new message arrives. I only see 1 unread message on my today screen.
Does anyone have this problem or know how to resolve it?
PIE does not have a pop up blocker... it just can not do pop up pages at all... get Opera for that functionality.
As for the mail arriving... I believe you only get notification of new mail if it arrives in your Activesync account. Or as an SMS.

Hmm that kind of blows. I tried opera and I get the pop I need, the only problem is that the screen that pops up requires flash player.... Is there flash player for opera?
As far as the sound notification for pop e-mail, it does work. For some reason when I had it synced up to the computer it would notify, not sure why.
As far as I know, there isn't a flash player for opera (at least not yet...I'm sure somebody out there is working on it, cos other than flash opera is a very good browser!)
Only NetFront can do both pop-ups and flash - and the WM5 version is in open Beta at the moment if you want to give it a try.
Apologies - having checked out the beta info it seems that flash is not included in the beta... I've tried the WM2003 version on my universal and it was quite inconsistent - might be worth trying though!
Thanks for the info. I will try that and see what happens.
I know there is a standard feature in the wizard where when a new voicemail comes in, it does a popup notification saying you have 1 new voicemails, etc.
I also know that when you click "dismiss" the popup notification is hidden, but no new popup notifications can come in until you actually listen to the voicemail.
Since I don't like to listen to my voicemail, is there a way to change the behavior so that it "clears" the popup notification and I can get to my other popup notifications?
I too HATE this problem. I have not yet searched the forums for a resolution, but I will see what I can find.
BTW: I had forgot about that problem (must have just been ignoring it) until you brought it up again! :x
Later; Lew
As far as I have been able to determine, there is no way to make it go away. However, new notifications do come in (but do not pop-up automatically). You can access the new notifications by clicking the notification balloon on the top of the screen. I use this quite often to get to the missed call notification without checking my voicemail first.
i too am having this problem and was wondering if there was a fix for it, it is quite disturbingly annoying.
Sometimes i get a slew of notifications and since i cant see them all since i am at wrk and i get time to see them usually voice mail is the "TOP" one and will not dissapear until i LISTEN to it, EXTREMLY annoying.
Does anyone have any fix/work around?
It's because of WM5

really?
Hi... I wanted to bump this message because I have the same problem and I was hoping there was an easy answer.... i figure its an easy fix.... but man its annoying getting that voicemail txt msg and you tap on dismiss and its still there...
thanks in advance..
I just posted an ongoing email thread with Cingular/HTC support for the Cingular 8525 (Hermes) about the exact same issue. Included in the emails is a verification that this is also a confirmed bug on the Cingular 8125 (Wizard). I am going to stay on their asses about the 8525, and post any replies I get. Here is the thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=299865
Right now, I have PocketCM assignged to my right softkey in order to send my text messages. No problem. What I would like to do, is set up the program to open when you get the notification of a recieved message. Much in the same way that Flexmail opens automatically.
Not necessarily opening on its own though, but when you click the right softkey after recieving the text, the menu pops up and asks, Call Sender, Save as read, Dismiss, Delete, or Open. How do i (can I?) set it up so that selecting the Open option will open PocketCM? Would I be correct in assuming that it's a registry tweak?
If the question has been answered already, which I'm almost sure it has to have been, I apologize. A search on this has brought up topics, either not nearly related to what I am looking for, or topics so old and/or convoluted to be of any service to someone who isnt already familiar with the subject matter.
I know it's mostly irrelevant in this instance, but I'm on a Tilt running Alex's newest Ultralight. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Same Question I Asked, I Was Told It Could Not Be Done, But Id Like To See What Everyone Has To Say...
From my end I dont see it being impossible, if programs like Flexmail & Sunnysoft Contacts can do it. Hell, Opera Mini can be set as the default browser. I think it just takes more knowledge of the subject matter than we currently have, lol
well if i have pocketcm minimized it pops up when i receive a message

This is true, but I'm a memory nazi who closes everything when I'm done using them. So while your way sorta "works", I'm really hoping to get it done the other way, lol.
Edit - Typo
I would like Pocket CM to open directly to the person's theaded sms window when i receive a message. Right now Pocket CM opens, but it's impossible to tell who sent it. SO then i have to use the notification window to open the default text message program.

rubbish: if you have "show text count on" the person who sent it is at the top of the list and the text count say 1/x
although i do agree it would be nice to open at the thread and even if pocketcm wasnt active at the time
I agree with above, the way PocketCM doesn't handle new messages was a deal-breaker for me. Everytime there is a new version I install it because i really like the look and feel, but i always take it off a couple of days later due to this issue. What's the point of having threaded SMS if you have to open a slow program to view the thread each time a new message comes in?
Esp now that WM 6.1 already uses threaded SMS. My Touch Dual supports flick and scroll already, so I guess the only interesting thing in PCM for me would be the nice transitions.

Ok, am I missing something? I have a sprint mogul with wm6. When I get a text message with window notification I do not have a "Open" option when i press the right soft key. i have Call Sender, Save as Read, Reply, and Dismiss. It's annoying when I have a long message that doesn't fit in the notification. I have to dismiss it and then go into Text Messaging to read the whole text. There is suppose to be an "open" option?
I get a number of notifications for tasks that are due, calls to attend, new emails, other appointments etc but they don't seem to be very nicely handled on the Touch HD.
I had an Excalibur before and that presented a screen with all the notifications listed that you could delete or postpone.
On the Touch an icon appears, the you have to select another alerts icon, then you get one alert shown at the bottom of the screen and when you have dealt with that, the next one is visible.....
Have I missed something native or is there a better notification manager application?
TIA

+1 this is annoying
why did they remove the usual popup and event-based softkey remapping
+1 same here, there should be something better for handling those popups
I thought i was the only one. Is there some way that we could fix this issue?
phonealarm
Have a look at pocketmax phonealarm which handles all notifications in a very flexible way.
Well pocketmax is not free, and as the notifications were pretty ok in the stock OS... I think there must be a way to get rid of the roadblock that prevent these to happen as usual without adding another 3rd party
Same here, it is ****ing annoying to press 3 buttons all over the screen just to turn alarm off.
Someone posted on Friday I think a tweak to settings to allow the pop ups to appear better....
start>settings>Sounds&Notifications>Notifications (choose Messaging: New e-mail message) then check the Display Message on Screen box. Repeat for Reminders etc.
Still not perfect cos you don't get the message on screen if it was activated whilst the device was locked.

Nice one (and so easy.... )
Is there a way to hide message previews when screen is unlocked? For instance, say you're browsing the web and you receive a message... When you pull down on notification bar, you can read who sent it and what was said, as opposed to "new message" then having to click that to get into your messaging app . I know it sounds kinda redundant, but I got used to it that way on my old s8 and can't figure out how to turn off "preview messages". Maybe port the Samsung messages app over to this phone? Thanks.
You can try to turn off heads up notifications system wide using one of the numerous guides available on the net. Didn't try as I don't want to disable them.
i used method #1 located here..
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/howto-4-to-disable-heads-notifications-t3197660
Hmm. I still want to get the notification and I can disable the pop-up anyway. I'm looking to disable the actual "peek" method. For instance when my Gmail syncs and gives me a notification on my status bar, when I pull down it'll show me who the emails are from, instead of just saying "3 new emails", which is what I'd prefer.
