Contact Photo... - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

after several searches, all I have found is 3rd party software suggestions, or no answers
I had a little play, i.e. I took a picture of myself using the contacts option and assigned it to my contact. Sync'd and checked the file sizes etc. 352*288, so I thought, ok, I'll manually resize etc all the photo's I have of my contacts, and painstakingly assigned each photo to the contact...
Here lies the problem...
The photo I took of myself with the Universal is fine, stays as 352*288, however all the manually added ones from external files get resized to a very small res
As a test, I saved my assigned photo from the desktop outlook, copied it to the universal, and manually added it, it then became a rather small image
I've had a trawl through the registry and have come up with nothing.
Before I take the plunge and use Photo Contacts Pro, anyone managed to get the photo's a decent size... heck... 352*288 will do fine, it's darn better than 72*72
Strangley enough, I can assign any sized picture to the desktop outlook, but pocket outlook ignores it completely, if I then assign a picture to pocket outlook, it over-rides the desktop outlook :|

Default folder for contact pictures?

I cant find the default folder for my contact pictures. After installing the latest rom build and doing an activesynch i have all of my contacts on jasjar with the pictures. In outlook 2003 i dont see the pictures when i look up the contact. what is the default folder for pictures used in the contacts app on the jj.
TIA
if your on about the outlook contacts, pictures are embedded into the contact card. once you've added a pict to a contact you can get rid of the actual photo file. I dont delete them just store them on me server as a "just in case"

photocontacts /outlook pictures contacts

I noticed no one answerd the question about photocontacts. so here goes, if you have pictues already on your contacts(wm5) which all sync well with outlook via(active sync 4.1 ) will photocontacts recognise thoes pictures. I noticed on a few websites where it stated that photcontacts is wm5 compatable...(that's all well and good) what about all your existing pictutres embeded in contacts.
please help clarify.
Photocontacts Pro? If this is the program you are talking about then...No. You have to set the photo through their program
thanks very much.
just like i thought.....I will spread the word to my other users. It makes no sence that this product does not support the intergrated picture/contacts
The OS contacts app uses picture contacts (WM5), and syncs with Outlook on the PC. Is PhotoContacts a major improvement?
V
right now ..i guess not..
i have well over 200 contacts in my address book all with photo's and it syncs very well with outlook, the last thing I want to be doing would be to replicating the photo's into the photocontacts directory also i don't think you can syncronise the photo's with outlook.
now that's a shame

Active sync - multiple contacts subfolders

Hi all,
I've tried a search for a solution, but couldn't find it immediately:
I've a lot of contacts divided over subfolders in my Outlook. Apparently activesync does not work with subfolders: huh!?
Is there a new version I can download?
I really need the different maps, I can't work with categories
Regards
Koen
I don't think this is possible. I had the same problem as you.
What I did is to organize my contacts "by category" so instead of using sub folders assigning each contact to a specific category in Outlook. You can then view them in Outlook "by category" and filter in Windows Mobile by category.
I agree that this is a serious problem. With some of my contacts I've gone into Outlook (that I sync with) and placed a zz_ at the front of the "File As:" entry.
Then at least all of these contacts will be at the bottom of my list.
The other thing I've done is created an excel spread sheet (or even an html file) with a list of contacts that I don't want on my main list and copied that file to my phone. Sometimes I open that to find names and then copy and paste it into my phonebook.
Welcome to Activesync! This goes right back to the first Pocket PCs, Microsoft have shown no iterest in adding this functionality.
The only way you can do this is by using different sync software, which maps folders in outlook to categories on your phone. Works well for me.

Hi All
Yes I know this answer is a little late... But it might help others
If you want to Sync MS Outlook's Contact Sub Folders you need - Chapura PocketMirror Professional
I've used it for many years and excellent bit of kit (only used with office 2003)
Just checked online and they have gone 'bust' but I still have the software & in daily use - PM me if req'd

contact images in SMS are different than in contact for phone

Hi,
I have my phone sync'd with my outlook (exchange 2007) and most of my contacts have images that I have chopped to the right size etc.
However, the contact picture that is used for SMS (threaded conversation) seems to be taken from facebook and not the image I saved against my contacts in outlook, or used for when I call someone (I use SPB mobile shell)
is there a way to change this? basically, because not all my friends have pictures of their face as their facebook pic.
ok, so it's not a huge problem..just a bit anoying is all.

HTC [email protected] Blurry outlook pics?! A Fix Available?

ive had to flash my phone and it resync'd with outlook and all my contact pictures on htc hd2 (ALMOST 100 of them have pictures) are blurry..
is there a easy fix for this? or do i have to manually fix them all by searching my caller id pics on storage card?
Thanks for any help
I've the exact same question...
I thought this happened with just using gmail sync with outlook but it appears from your posts that it's an outlook issue. I tried shooting contact pics from the phone, setting the pics online, and same thing each time.
So I switched to syncing my contacts with MyPhone and they are nice and clear. No more blur
outlook defaults to 128x128 and I have yet you find a fix as I expect exchange servers will maintain there size also. to get your hi-res pics back you need to link them though sense again either manually or by facebook.
it might be worth a forum search to see if anyonI has found a fix
No fix to it.
Instead I just backup my contacts with pim backup, it's very easy and fast.
I do not update my contacts too much so I'm happy with that. It's worth it.
Finally fixed!!
I also had this problem, but now I finally found a way to fix this.
Install outlook 2010. Outlook 2010 has the automatic option to attach High Res contact pictures.
So what you need to do is:
- Install Outlook 2010
- Add your contact pictures again, and Outlook will put the High res version into your contact.
Good luck!!
