Other BT stack(s) for Magician? - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 General

Hi!
Are Someone tried other BT stack for the Magician?
For example:
Socket (ftp://ftp.socketcom.com/bluetooth/BTCEeng120J.exe)
Widcomm
Bluesoleil

Joebacsi74

I think I will give a try to the Socket stack, and see what happens.
Of course, I will publish it here.

Changing Bluetooth stack to Broadcom

Anybody know of a way to change the bluetooth stack in the i-mate Jam to the broadcom stack, as used in the Orange m2000 (Blue Angel)? I've used both and find the LAN browsing abilities in the M2000 most useful
Thanks
At a guess mate, the broadcom stuff is wi-fi and NOT Bluetooth?

Yes, but Broadcom aquired Widdcom, so now they also have bluetooth.
I resume this thread to ask if anybody thought to test BCM1000-WCE
Bluetooth® Communications Software for Windows® Mobile 2003 for Pocket PC and Pocket PC Phone Edition.
It looks great and full of functionality. But where is it possible to dowload it? Is this the same of the one on ftp site, BroadcomCorp_BT1.0.0.3900.cab ? Did anyone try BroadcomCorp_BT1.0.0.3900.cab on S100? Does it support the Audio High Quality (A2DP) profile?

tried it and it didn't work... same error as with any widdcom drivers! and it doesn't create a bluetooth icon shortcut in the today screen!
doesn't works
tried but when i try to activate BT i get always errors on BT devices not found
Thx PapaDocta for your testing...it's really a shame that we have to work around this way to find a decent BT Stack to replace that poor one by MS!

i tried this stack - it's don't work.
I think it because broadcom limits to use they stack only for certain devices which has license to use they stack.
in broadcom registry hive i found "license" key. if somebody find proper license key for i-mate bt chip - i think that broadcom stack will work on magician.

Microsoft vs. Widcomm once more

Hi all!
I found a strange problem reguarding bluetooth software conflicts beetween Qtek2020's Microsoft Bluetooth Stack and the Widcomm 1.4.1 (BluetoothGPS.cab) Stack.
It means.
Without the Widcomm Stack installed I am able to syncronize via Bluetooth with ActiveSync (com6).
And I moreover can surf the web trough my Qtek GPRS connection via Bluetooth. And that's perfect.
But.
With the Widcomm Stack installed I am still able to syncronize via Bluetooth with ActiveSync (on com6) but I loose the bluetooth-modem capacity!
I own a Trust180 Bluetooth/USB adapter.
I need the Widcomm Stack only to use my Fortuna Clip-On GPS and I will not need it anymore if I could find the way to use it with Qtek-Microsoft Bluetooth Stack, but I have not found the way to do it yet.
So I think I could only surf the registry to find the answer to let both stacks work together, is it possible?
Did anybody have the same problem?
Did anybody find the answer?
Thanks in advance!
Giuseppe
Hi Giuseppe,
I have the same Fortuna Clip-on GPS receiver and I'm able to use it with the MS BT stack. It bonds and offers the option to set up a serial port. If you accept this, it allocates Com 5 to the GPS. I use Tomtom navigation software and in the software set it up as a NEMA 38400 baud connection using Com 5 - all works fine.

XDA 2i Widcomm and Fortuna
I'm having the same problem with a fortuna clip on bluetooth gps and an XDA2i--for some reason that build of the widcomm stack (3900) doesn't work, yet earlier versions, such as that shipped with the XDA2s, appear to work fine--does anyone know where to find a version of the widcomm bluetooth stack from broadcom newer than 3900?

Hi Paul,
thanks for your reply, I know my Clip-On should work together with every software for on road navigation...but...I unfortunately need OziExplorer for my off-road navigation and...OziExplorer need a com7 port.
That's all
I think I'll try Franson's tools: GPSGate & something else as I read here http://www.franson.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=17&SearchTerms=qtek,2020
I wouldn't like to hardreset my device again...I lost the number of my hardresets.
Thank you anywhere
Giuseppe
Hi giuseppe,I hate broadcom stack too, after many hresets, i thinks there is no way to solve this and other bugs, like the serial modem bluetooth connection.
The only winning move is to sell our 2020i and buy magician
Bye
Luca
Hi Luca, don't surrender, it can work!
I simply followed this http://franson.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=17&SearchTerms=qtek,2020 .
Now I am able to use my Fortuna GPS and my BT Motorola HS805 at the same time. And morover I am still using my Qtek's BT modem ability.
I payed 30 euros for Franson GPS Gate, but it solved my problems.
I am now trying to let ActiveSync work via Bluetooth because it's the only ability I lost. :?
Bye, thank You for your post,
Don't surrender!

Is there any Widcomm Stack available for mini with BT PAN?

Hello,
I know It may have been asked before,But i searching a lot and I couldnt find any thread which is mentioning that a BT stack Widcomm is available for mini with PAN support. What I could find was just Bluesoleil stack which is an evaluation version
no replies for long time. Nobody knows? :?:
No, the Widcomm stack isn't running on the Magician. The PAN profile is only supported by the Toshiba and Bluesoleil stack, which are working together with the Magician. The extension of the MS stack which you can find in another thread doesn't provide the PAN profile.

Bluetooth programming portability issue

Hi all,
I am programming an OBEX bluetooth program for pocketPC platform, I see that there are different bluetooth stacks (Widcomm, Microsoft,...) on different pocket pcs, also I see that there are many ways to write OBEX bluetooth apps, either Winsock or using IObex COM objects and may be others.
My question is:
1. Do I have to write two implementtions to work with Widcomm BT stack and MS BT stack?
2. I am currently implementing BT functions using IObex COM interfaces, will this work on Widcomm BT stack??
3. any suggestions?
I hope to find some help here as usual
Thanks for your time...

I think your best options is to make two components, because Widcomm BT implementation is completely different of M$ BT stack.
Fortunately both SDK are available.
Cheers,
.Fred
Thanks, dotfred, but if I have to do two implementations then where can find Widcomm BT stack SDK?? is it free to download? and what approximate percentage of PPC users use Widcomm BT Stack?
Any other suggestions guys?

I have a Widcomm that works on my XDAII (I can give it), but for the rest, I really don't know. Don't forget that both stacks can't be active at the same time on the device, so you have to play with the registry and soft reset to activate one or another.
The biggest problem with Widcomm is that the bt headset doesn't work.
And the biggest problem of M$ stack is the lack of PAN and the BT manager is useless.
I think you should try to do it first for M$, when you succeeded then do it/try it with Widcomm, but you need a device that has it.
Cheers,
.Fred
ps.: for the sdk, here is an interesting article and a download link:

But Tytn uses another Stack, there's no funktion for networking.
Any ideas?
Thanx
Alex
in the TyTn thread they are working on getting the widcom stack to work on this phone instead of the M$ stack
