Removing Unused Icons - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

I have had a few programs on trial that I did not like and although I have removed them either manually or theough the Remove Software Program I still have the icons sitting there. They are not the original Icons that came when the programs were installed but just the white box!!
Where do I have to go to remove these? I have looked through the system but maybe I'm just be thick (nothing unusual). :?
Any help would be appreciated.

Where are the unwanted icons? In the start menu?
If so, use gsfinder etc to navigate to your startmenu and delete unwanted poo.

They are in Start>Programs
Just sitting taunting me - those evil little pixels :x
I have Resco File Explorer if that helps!!!!!!

That's all you need Stella. If you're sure they're unneeded, and you've uninstalled the programs correctly, then these may be dead shortcuts. Using resco, navigate to \windows\start menu
and just delete all the shortcuts you don't need.

Invalid Icons (shortcuts) in Programs folder

I'm sure this is a no brainer, but I can't seem to figure out how to remove shortcuts from the 'Programs' listing after I have removed the software. For some reason every time I do a 'remove program', the shortcut is left behind...
I have a JAMin with the latest ROM and running Battery Pack Pro as the only Today plugin
It is simple. Open internet explorer and navigate to windows\start menu\programs. Delete any shortcuts that are obsolete.
Big thanks!
For some reason it didn't even come into my mind... sometimes it's the easiest things that we try to make difficult. I do appreciate the quick reply... and for not laughing at me

Running Programs in Today Screen Tray?

I would like to see the programs that are running down in the system tray on the today screen. You know, the place where you see your battery level and connection manager icons?
Is this possible via a registry hack that anyone knows of?

There are registry tweaks for standard items like battery, clock and so on but AFAIK not ones for all running programmes. There are tons of freeware task manager apps that place running progs in task bar and probably the tray as well. Magic Button for example - but it shows in task bar.

Actually this so-called fix does not work. If you put the icon in the startup tray all it does is start the program at start up. So no, it does not put it on the tray.
Try again?
VJTrayLaunch
This is a command line application, and can be used to launch any program or shortcut.

TrayLnch
TrayLnch only 47,9kb
is good for hermes
Can't believe people would pay $13 for this.
I made VJTrayLaunch, which is fine for one or two apps, but I recommend PHM Tray Launch 110%.

Organising programs menu

Hi There,
Im fairly new here and just getting to grips with WM5.
Ive been playing around with various programs, one of which was wisbar which allthough nice i decided to go without as it did slow the phone down a little bit. However when i uninstalled it it left a folder in the programs menu which i cant get rid of.
Which brings me to my question, can i customise this folder? put programs i want in folders etc and change icons too?
Any help would be great.
I did search but didnt find quite what im looking for.
Thanks
use file explorer, go to: "\Windows\Start menu"

Remove Left Over Icons

Hi
I installed Windows Live Messenger onto my Nike and then decided that I didn't really want the application so i uninstalled them using the Program uninstaller. However after rebooting the Nike I find that still have "blank" icons with the titles for Windows Live Messenger and Windows Live. Does anyone have a way of removing the icons totally? It seems as if the removal program hasn't done it's job correctly.....

where are the icons in the today screen, tray launch or program files if in program files do this \windows\start menu\ program files and manually delete them. for tray launch and today screen i don't know
if they are in the 'Programs' folder, go to \Windows\Start Menu\Programs and delete them there, if in the 'Settings' folder, I have no clue where these are stored. Or alternatively get 'MemMaid' and let it clean up for you

"Ghost" Icons. They haunt my Start Menu

How this issue started:
I created a couple new folders to better organize my Start Menu and to appease my OCD. I cleared the dead icon links from my Home tab, cleared Icon Catch and did a soft reset.
I now have icons in my start menu - that are active - that should have been moved to a new folder - which are also active. Strange.
Stranger still is the fact I can't see these by browsing in phone, computer, or with Icon Changer. They just don't show so I have no way to remove them by conventional means. They're like... Ghosts.
Anyone know how to get rid of these ghost icons?

If they are the HTC program ones, its a registry key you'll need to change.

Actually none of them are HTC apps. They are kinda random:
CleanRam (and config)
WebTV
SPB TV
Bananas
BsB Tweaks
CHT Editor
Omarket
JWMD Icon Changer
I moved all of these to diff folders, amongst others - yet these icons stay. Would this still be a registry issue?
And yes i cleared Icon Cache
