Hello, i'm in need of a *free* but good battery meter that I can configure to show on my Today screen.
I don't need lots of extra's with it, just a nice display which shows the % left etc.
What's available?
TIA

I use BatMemTime. I guess it does exactly what you want, once you configured it not to show various memory and storage related info.
Cheers
Daniel
I use InlineCredit Battery Bar. http://www.insertcredit.co.uk/batterybar.htm
I was using Lou's Todayinfo during my Ipaq3800 days.
http://www.louterrailloune.com/index.php?page=todaysinfo
Best of all, its free and skinable...
Nowadays i see there are many of the same version from other ppl.
but none beats Luo.
Try this
http://sourceforge.net/projects/kbattery/
Cool subj. :!: :!: :!:
Why? Because it useless and it ocupies a line of space that could be used by a today plugin!!!
TrayDisplay is what you need!!! Built with ATL C++, it comes in two files:
HideTray: that makes tour system tray invisible;
DisplayTray: that makes tour system tray visible!!
It makes a shortcut on your \Windows\StartUp folder so that everytime you reset your PPC, it will hide the tray!
When the file is run, it makes it's job and then end's so that it doesn't stay in memory.
This file is not a patch, but an application!
Only tested with Windows Mobile 2005, don't know if will work with WM2003...
OK,
nice idea but doesn't work on W2003 SE, at least not on mine. Also no effect after soft-reset.

I doesn't work on my 2003se device (Imate jam) either

I know I've seen another tool for hiding top-&bottom bars somewhere on the web. Cannot remember where, but it had to do with 'xx% larger screen'. As I don't mind having the bars I didn't pay much attention to it. I specially like the top bar with date/time & spb gprs icon. But taste is personally. So you'll have to search yourself when you really want this.

OK found it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=27331&highlight=screen

He he...that's mildly spoken  With WA2 & WAD ( WAD is WA2 dependent ) you have total, and I do mean total control of your today-screen(s) and yes. you can have more than one... Now you can have all your favorite today plug-ins in each their own screen, full screen ! You can make your own short-cuts to any application, and place it anywhere, and that's only the beginning. The possibilities are endless, please do take a look

WAD and WA2 are two master pieces that will breath new life into your Pocket PC. The UI will look stunning if you get good skins and graphics .
Definetly agree with you, Flipside. Endless posibilities
Problem
The problem with these tools is they consume a lot of system resources and slow your machine down.

That's not entirely true anymore... Naturally the more you "fill" in, the more memory you lose, but it's def. not the program itself...But if you look at what you actually get here, the little memory you lose is a very small price to pay... ( I have like 16 different pages running, with dock and icons, plug-ins and text-objects, and the memory loss I can measure is app. 6 mb ) In my book that's nothing compared to what this program has to offer, my magician is almost stylus-free, and that's really neat when I'm in my car etc...

I installed traydisplayinstall.cab , Tray disappeared -- but space can not be used :-(
[HTC Uni, WM5]
Nice program.
I just found it, and it works fine on WM6.5.
Hi all. Need some help please. I had recently used the 'hide' TrayApplet program but after uninstalling Spb Shell, decided that I could do with it being back, but don't want large icons on my Today screen again.
Hkey_Local_Machine\SOFTWARE\HTC\TrayApplet
above I found the links to each of the icons in the tray and can successfully point them to programs of my choice. Great!!
No! The links now work a treat, but the old icons remain the same (therefore hard to distinguish what does what until you tap it).
Does anyone know how to or where the registry entries are for the icons in the TrayApplet? e.g when I tap on the web n walk icon, I now get my configured Internet Explorer, but no associated icon.
Any help appreciated.
No one here hot on Reg-editing? Tried looking at the Universal wiki and their Reg hacks, but it most of it seems to be filed using different naming conventions and some alternative methods.
In any event. The above post shows where the links are (in seperate folders)....which can be permanently deleted and will then remove them from the TrayApplet.
Thanks for the info. I am still trying to decide what to do with the tray on my phone.
Try this cab file.........i'm using it on my Ameo now. It creates a programe in your programe folder with which you can turn on/turn off your tray applet as you wish. Hope it helps

No probs neildunne..at least you tried to help.
And someone else has benefitted from your answer.
Is there a simple regedit to enable/disable the trayapp?
Yep there is
Yes you can do it manually.
Go to HKLM\init and create a strin Launch92 and give it the value TrayAp.exe. When you want to remove it delete the key.
Can somebody post the HTCHomeplug plugin so I can use this one instead of the taskbar?
WA3 will solve it.
I'm happy. God is listening.
System Tray Features
* Added the ability to place program icons on the system tray.
On the screenshot above, you'll see icons that don't normally appear on the system tray. WisBar Advance 3 now allows you to place icons on the tray as a "quick launch" bar, similar to iLauncher and several other software packages.
Get it here:

I too would like to remove this tray bar at the bottom. I dont like it and cannot find how to remove it on my X7500.
I know how to do it on my universal, but the registry is not the same.
Any light on this would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

Thanks from me for this too.
Although I am curious to know... from the community at large perhaps... the Today screen is evidently made up of a series of components... TSk files for the theme... applet files for additional display options... the HTC plug-in software to modify the HTC HomePlugin etc.
It seems a bit odd to me... given the apparent effort put into theme creation software by quite a few writers... that those same coders stopped where they did... at themes.
It seems like only half of the job... even the admittedly-clever HTC Home Plug-in Customiser goes that far and no further.
I'd expect at least one developer to come up with a more comprehensive product... the modules do exist as separate entities... theme designers... plug ins and customisers... and especially with the advent of WM6 and VGA screens...
I've had two Blue Angels now for a couple of years. It never occurred to me to play with themes. The only modfication of the desktop was from whatever software went in and did so as part of the package... XCPU Scalar and some SPB items for example. I never even bothered to upgrade the Windoze from 2003SE. Everything seemed to work alright, and most software that I try to use on it still does too.
Now we have two Ameos as well... both running different versions of WM6... different ROMs... one of which (the later) is T-Mobile.
And, probably due to the larger screen, I decided to take a look into the desktop.
The T-Mobile flavour did indeed come with this Tray App, and it is only today and on here (naturally) that I have actually found out the designation of the thing.
XCPUScalar knew all about it long before I did, and stuck it's Speed, Reset, and Off buttons in it.
The other Ameo came with what I think may be a vanilla (HTC) version of WM6 and the HTC Home Plug-in... and I only recently learned about that here too... none of this appears in the little manuals T-Mobile inlcude with the Ameo of course.
I wonder now, as I write, if a fairly basic and simple method of getting rid of the Tray App may simply be either removing it from the Windows folder or perhaps renaming it.
Either way, your method works well for me... as does XDA-developers per se... and without whom all HTC customers, whether members here or not, would be a great deal poorer.
Personally, I do wish that I understood a good deal more of the subject matter, especially in the deeper-delving posts... but at least with xda-developers being here... all of you... the possibility exists.
Thank You once again... all of you.

Hi everyone! I own a trinity spv m700 orange white phone. Nothing has been change, the phone is still the same as the day it came package. And I have just witnessed the potential of what my phone can do.

I am still a noob. And I dunno what they are using to do all that on their trinity. I think now is the good time to learn more about my phone and fiddle with it.
I would love and kill to see my trinity work that way. Would any experts out there kindly point me in the right direction. I know there might be alot of work cut out for me. But I am not discouraged.
Hope someone can help me in here.
Thank you in advance.

There's nothing special about it. From what I can see, it has HTC Home installed, Touchflo, HTC Album in landscape mode, Pocket IE in full screen mode, Tom Tom navigation, Office Mobile, Windows Media Player, HTC Audio Manager, HTC Action, nothing special.
As for the speed, it is a medium speed ROM, I'd give it a 6/10.
Most of these apps you will find on the forum.

Here you go!
After installation, shut down PPC (hold power button for 4 seconds), then soft reset.
Hey Tnyynt.
Thanks, but I think I found a solution by searching....
Schaps Advanced configuration tool (works w/wm6.1.) It has the SIM option and many more cool options (of which I know how to use maybe two!)

Hi All,
Does anyone know how to keep the battery icon permanently displayed in the Taskbar?... Preferrably just with a Reg Key rather than additional app?...
In WM6.1 on my present device (and also WM5.x on my previous Trinity) the icon disappears as soon as any app is launched and seems only to be displayed in the Today screen.
Its a simple enough thing (I would have thought!) but all my searching has not yielded a viable solution yet!
Anyone help?
Many thanks,
LoopyLoo

Thanx for the suggestion. I think I know what you're referring to in that app... And I'm pretty sure it doesnt work as expected.
HD Tweak definatly has this option its the first battery option in Tweak you can show or hide It shows in most programs I tested, like Notes, Calculator, Word etc I didnt run Garmin Xt or Opera as I was confident it work why not give it a try you can always delete if not satisfied Right

Its been a while since I last used HDTweak (never been a big fan of it, as for me its always seemed to cause more problems than its solves) but I've reinstalled it anyway, based on what you both say...
It doesnt work for me - and pretty sure I've tried this before with same result!
As soon as I start up Calendar, Contacts, Calculator, Notes - any app! - the Taskbar battery icon disappears.
exactly the same problem
tried differents tricks but until now no good result

mmmm sure is strange when i get home tonight I will install software so i can take a pic of the screen with excel word calendar etc if you like maybe we can sort it from there
By the way I have Duttys 3.9 it is a wicked Rom a little heavy on battery but performance makes up for it
Oh yeah i noticed bouya_k has the Dusk theme maybe that interferes with it ???
Just looked at my phone again with battery selected to show in HD Tweak, it will show in calender sms etc which are in TF3d
however when i open excel, notes, etc the task does in fact drop the battery Icon and only shows sound, signal icons
So my appologies LoopyLoo you are indeed right.

OK, mate, thanks for confirming that - thought I might be losing the plot a bit there for a while!
Off topic, but I note your liking of the Dutty3v9 ROM. The guy does indeed do some nice ROMs, but there always seemed to be little "features" in it that would be problematic for me. So I gave up after 3v7 and switched to Topix221. After a minimum of personal customisation I have found it very reliable, fast and good battery life.

You could use something like this:
http://sites.google.com/site/iappsdevteam/Home/applications/ibattery
or SBSH ILauncher, which also has a taskbar battery meter always displayed.

I didnt really want to install an app to monitor the battery, but iBattery is quite dinky and very much like what you get in WDTask (I think).
Thanks for this "low resource" suggestion!
