my jasjar is turn off when it get to 40% buttery power , what can it be ? if i charge it it dosent turn off but without power charger it work just until 40% .
thanks in advance.

sometimes this is just due to topping up charges and there is not a "continuous" supply current in the battery at that 40% mark. I had it once but always top up whenever halfway or very low and never had problem, but a way to fix the glitch is to drain the battery and then fully charge it
Li-Ion batteries do not suffer from memory effect. I have read in several tech reports on Li-Ion technology that it is actually better to top up often, like a lead acid battery. If the battery goes into deep discharge conditions, this will potentially cause serious problems. Assuminb the protection circuits in the battery work, this shouldn't be an issue though. The main problem is that the cells oxidise and stop transferring the charge to the device. This starts as soon as they are made and can't be stopped. If the oxidisation between cells is bad enough, the only use you get is from cells one side of this barrier. The battery still reports charge because the other cells still have it but they can't be usedBottom line is that the battery is poor on the Uni and lasts less than a year.Get a new one from another source, Cameron Sinio or whatever they are called are usually good.

Yeah I always put it into charger cradle when driving home -- nice way to keep it topped up.
Recently my battery started to play up and I have ordered one from BatteryUpgrade.com - a Cameron Sino battery for £18.xx has arrived quickly but could not serve the purpose - was not charging and eventually totally discharged.
Also was not indicating charge properly - always 100% (the LED is still Amber, not Green as you would expect at 100%).
I wonder if anyone else has bought Cameron Sino branded batteries and experienced same effects: 1) always 100% indication in your software and 2) lack of ability to charge?
Universal is using Lithium Polymer (light weight), not Lithium ion (heavy weight) batteries.
The main differences between li-ion and li-po batteries are the recharge/discharge rates and the construction of the core. Li-ion batteries are "wet" cells where as Li-Po batteries are "dry" which makes them thinner and more rugged. The same precautions still need to be observed and the life of the batteries is still about the same. They start becoming unusable after 300 charges and only have 40% of charge after 500 cycles. The life of 3 years is from the date of production, being stored at 40% charge and at the appropriate temperature. They are better when constantly topped up to prevent the voltage of the cells from dropping too low as this promotes oxidisation between the boundries of the cell. If they are overcharged, lithium metal is produced which is also bad. Another problem is that if the cell voltage drops too low it can never be recovered meaning one knackered battery. I have looked into this quite a bit as my battery has started shutting off at 60%ish, after 10 months of use which is pretty fair. I only expect batteries to last a year anyway. Good excuse to get a higher capacity battery in my opinion. I have used a Cameron Sino battery before in my Alpine and had those reporting issues for a few weeks and they dissappeared almost overnight. Don't know why but hey, isn't modern technology great?
Interesting. Thanks for you info. No wonder battery is not under gaurantee!

Yes, I've had 3 Cameron Sino batteries that all reported 100% regardless of charge level. Can't remember if the LED ever went green with them, or not, I'm afraid. Obviously, they all went back for refund.
Cheers,
Steve.
I got a CS battery and it started to expand, cracking the casing and seeming rather dangerous. I emailed the seller and it was replaced in 24 hours. He asked for theold one sent back so the factory could analyse it.
I had to dump the replacement recently because it wasn't giving the Uni enough current to complete a hard reset and was lockingup the device during 3G data and a call.
All in all I think 2 bad ones is enough, I will stick to the one that comes with the Uni and keep a USB cable curled up in my pocket =)

6000mAh external battery w/ solar charger for £15 !

I came across this on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170212826483
It's a solar charger with 6000mAh internal battery. Output voltage is 5.5V and output current 1A. For me it seems to be perfect for our Kaisers.
I doubt you would get even external battery with such capacity for this price (it's £20 including P+P to Slovakia). And this thing even charges itself "on its own".
I will be probably buying one in a few days, but I would like to know if anybody has any experience with or opinions about this (such) device. Please share.
In my understanding it's only a solar-charger not an extended battery.
It would be nice to get an extended battery included the solar charger for Kaiser.
It does have 6000mAh acumulator inside and it can be charged via (included) AC adapter. So in a sense - it is (and can be used as) external battery extender.
Yes, actually it is so, but then it's too heavy to carry.
My wish is to have an extended battery with solar charger on the back cover. I know its just a wish, but would be a nice accessory.
Oh, I see what you are up to. IMO that would be inpractical, since you would have to have your Kaiser laying top-side-up to charge. Something like this might come to your interest (if they would make it for Kaiser, that is): http://gpsforless.co.uk/product_details.php?id=12048 It's an iPhone case that has Solar panel on the front of it.
Yes, something like that. I don't feel unpractical until I can find a smooth surface to lay down kaiser on LCD panel. Before some Nokia model came with such solar panel, I think great solution.

just have an off topic question. What battery are u using now? If some extended, where did u buy it? I cant seem to find a store here in Slovakia that sells batteries for Kaiser.
I'm using Mugen Power 1500mAh.
I bought through Eten webshop

I currently use only OEM 1350mAh that came with my Kaiser. I have, however, bought this extended 2800mAh battery from ebay, which I am still waiting to arrive. I think ebay is the way to go for things like these - they are very expensive and hard to get in standard shops in Slovakia.
And I am very much considering the external battery w/ solar charger mentioned in my first post. I would use it especially for long (couple of days) bike trips that I will be doing. And £20 price for such thing is extremely good price

I was thinking about buying a new battery, but the fact that I will have to buy a new case also is stopping me from buying it. Give us a little feedback about the battery and also about the solar charger when u will get them. I am really curious.
Okay I will. I am not yet definitely decided if I will buy that solar charger, though.

Not really (may be 2hrs longer uptime), but I needed a spare battery as well. You also can buy 2000-3000mAh battery, those should be significantly longer uptime, but they come with a wider back-cover.
Okay, thanks for info.
@all:
I have just bought that 6000mAh solar charger. Will inform you in this thread, when I recieve it.
i too have recently ordered this, hope it is as good as it claims to be, or at least nearly as good, hope I don't have to wait too long for it to be shipped from Hong Kong
I have been astonished by its specification (and price), too. If it is going to be as good as it claims then the money spent will be surely worth it.
do you guys know if you can change the internal battery? for that price i skeptical about the quality of the 6000mah battery. can the solar panel charge the phone directly?
i don't know, i am waiting on delivery any time from 3 days til a week away from recieving it, will tell you all about it with pics if i get it before omikr0n
If the battery is totally dead, can it run the phone on solar power alone?

Looking for Sprint Mogul/HTC Titan BIGGEST Batt's

Well as the title suggests im looking for the BIGGEST Batteries for the Sprint Mogul AKA HTC Titan...
Im looking for the biggest standard size (aka no extended door needed!) AND im also looking ror the biggest extended size... one will be for office/meetings the other will be for home/long trips!
The biggest standard i have found searching the forum/google (with LIVE links) is 1650mah and the biggest extended size i have found (again with only LIVE links) is 3200mah
HOWEVER I have found old dead links of ones that do 1800/1850/1900/1950 in standard size... nothing extra special for extended size however..
Anyone got any clues and or wanna throw me a life-line on this one before i take the plunge (i mean comeon... 1650mah is NOT really that much of a boost from stock 1500mah...)!!!
THANKS!

I personally snagged a cheap 2800mAh off Ebay ($18 shipped) for my main battery.
But anyways
Seidio 3500mAh Extended Battery with Door for Sprint Mogul - $69.95 @ http://www.moguldepot.com/seidio-3500mah-extended-battery-with-door/8A37A3718.htm
I think I recall seeing a 3600mAh somewhere, but I'd have to look more.
damn... 3500mah i was just looking at seidio's site... and thats what i meant in the first post... not 3200mah... damnit..
anyway.. while im looking at seidio's extended battery (more because they offer a case that fits the extended battery as well) i need a bigger standard size battery more... i use my phone so much at work i have to charge it at lunch... and it wouldn't look professional with that ugly extended batt...
thx tho...
Hey Kane my wife's Mogul original battery would barely last 7 to 8 hours with her heavy use. I got her the Seidio 3500 MAH battery. Now with her extended uses she can almost go 3 days with out charging! I also got her the rubberized case. I can also say if you have the normal rubberized case with the belt clip it will fit with the extended battery. I am about to get a 3500 battery for me as my Mogul barely last 7 hours with my use and I have to a cigarette adapter to recharge during the day, using blue tooth drains the batteries a lot too. I sent Seidio a Email as I noticed that the normal cases are colored. (Red, Blue and black!). They have not answered my Email yet. I'll call them in several days to see if the colors are available. I am sold on the larger battery. Yes it big and is heavy but well worth it. So I can watch more of my sling box and run the internet as much as I want to and run my blue too ear piece. I have 3 Emails accounts polling every 15 minutes for work so it keeps my phone filled with Emails.
Chuck
Not let down by the big battery!
haha.... im going to be getting the 3500mah batt and the extended case they have as well...
BUT im still looking for that 1850mah or 1900mah or 1950mah battery that i read about before i had my mogul... that DOESNT require the extended parts...
my co-worker has a mogul as well with the extended battery and it looks bulky as all hell when he pulls it out during a meeting... definitely do not want for work... home yes... work no..
I found this in the accessories section
Hopefully the link works http://www.mugenpowerbatterijen.nl/
The one you want is the HLI-6800 which is an 1800 standard size battery, I'd be interested if there was a bigger battery but in the standard size.
That mugenpower battery is the biggest I've heard of at 1800. From what I read it give you a nice boost in battery life, but don't expect miracles. It's about 20% higher capacity and hence gives you about a 20% increase in battery life. I'll be getting one eventually.
Mugen 3600mAh
Google these words:
Mogul 3600mah
You'll find the battery I use, a 3600mAh by Mugen Power. I've just finished my first 6 days with it. Its capacity seems to grow each day as it breaks in; for my usage pattern, it now drops an average of 3.5 percent per hour of use.
I've ordered the Seido rubber case that's designed for Seido's extended battery. Seido claims the case is for their extended battery only, but I don't believe it.
I have the Seidio 3500mAh Extended Battery in my xv6800......Its a monster.....I only go from 100% to 89% in a 12 hr period. Maybe even longer
This may not be a solution for you but for some uses its an inexpensive. Digital has a USB battery pack that holds 4 AA batteries ( rechargeable work fine ). It comes with a correct mini USB connector on a self retracting roll up coil and a standard usb male connector on the other end. The connector on the battery pack is a standard female USB. It has an on/off switch as well. Price: $9.99 @ WalMart not including batteries.

It sounds as though the Seido 3500 may well outlast my Mugen 3600. with my stock battery (1500mAh), my remaining capacity drops by an average of 5.5 to 6.5 percent per hour. With my Mugen 3600, it drops by about 3.5 percent per hour. That's not even double the 1500's capacity. However, my results are not scientific: I wouldn't be surprised if I use my 6800 more heavily when I know the Mugen will carry me through the day.
And I have two pieces of good news about hardware that works with the Mugen:
The Seido rubberized hard case for use with the Seido 3500mah batteyr will fit the Mugen...IF you remove the Mugen battery door. The Mugen door is worthless anyway; the latch won't latch.
The Mugen fits and charges perfectly in an aftermarket charger designed to charge an oversize 6800 battery outside of its case. I don't have photos handy, but the charger has three blue LEDs and charges at 450mA. I bought it on U.S. eBay for about $18 shipped.
Can you please post a link to the aftermarket charger?
is this meant to mean that the battery must be out of the phone to charge? I'm looking for a charger/cradle that will let me put the extended battery still IN the phone.
I've found a cradle, charges extra battery but not the mogul with the extended battery still in the phone.
I don't think having the battery out of the phone is useful if I need to use the phone as well or get a phone call.
external desktop charger....and a 3400mAh external battery
You're right, the battery must be OUT of the phone to be charged. I like this option because there are days when I forget to charge my 3600mAh battery and must use my stock 1500mah battery instead. With my DESKTOP CHARGER FOR HTC SPRINT MOGUL EXTENDED BATTERY (the words to the eBay link, which may now be expired), my 3600mAh battery can be charging while I'm using my 1500mAh.
The eBay listing was titled DESKTOP CHARGER FOR HTC SPRINT MOGUL EXTENDED BATTERY. The seller was perfectsell.
I just found another interesting option on eBay, titled NEW EXTERNAL EXTENDED BATTERY CHARGER FOR MOGUL 6800 . Sold by ebay seller nakedcellphone, it's a battery that connects to your 6800 via a USB cable. Personally, I'd find it awkward to use. I can see using it to charge my internal battery....but then, I'd rather just buy another battery.
In any event, Seido claims that its dock/cradle was specifically designed to accommodate a 6800 with a Seido 3500mAh battery installed.
3400mAh external battery
Aha: The 3400mAh battery is made by JavoEdge.
Anything bigger than 1650 in the STANDARD size got way too hot and was discontinued. 1650 is the biggest you will be able to find without going to the extended size with a custom backing.
NOOO SO GAY!!!
I wanted bigger then 1650 for standard size.. i was hoping for 1800mah or 1850 even... idgaf if it overheats... (thats what a charging cradle is for... that and one of 13 hardware mods... -kisses dremel- )

Nevermind, apparently the cradle isn't even offered any more. Nice page, confusing AND misleading.
On the ebay site, they ONLY show pictures of iPhones, not really relevant nor is it anything new, it's a USB cable. THAT is what they consider an "extended" battery charger.
ROTFLMAO, do you work for the company or is it really as silly as it looks showing off an iPhone when the title on the page reads

Wait a second, may not even be an iPhone, definitely NOT a mogul.
Funny stuff, thanks for the laugh.

Can a non oem car charger kill battery?

i bought this car charger from ebay from my vibrant for 10 bux. when i went to canada this was like 3 weeks ago and since i got back my battery life was never the same it dies pretty quick. what can cause this
I would avoid the cheap generic chargers. Go with the T-Mobile or Samsung OE car chargers. Purchase a new battery if you think it's the source, they're pretty cheap on eBay.
I don't think the charger did that. I have made some Frankenstein chargers that have never affected the battery. I would guess the charge controller in the phone crapped out, but not because of the non OEM charger.
The thing you plug into the wall or cigarette lighter doesn't know or care about what phone or battery you have. it just gives the power. it doesn't tell the phone to give you the "UNPLUG YOUR PHONE" message, the controller in the phone does that.
Go to powerstream.com for info on cells, batteries, and charging.
Think about this...if you have your phone plugged into your car BEFORE you start it, what happens? The charger goes dead, then comes back. That is way more stressful on ANY charger.

Off-topic, but it is bad on the battery to leave the phone plugged in all night, with the phone asleep but not off (i.e., the phone remains plugged in long after it finished recharging)? I do this, as I suspect many others do... I was under the impression that the phone cuts the cycle so there's no "overcharge" issue. Thanks.
chargers shouldn'ty hurt your battery. I've NEVER owned a OEM car charger in my life, and you know now that i think about it I think the crappy $12.00 charger in my car is the same one I bought for my Razor back in 2005, I've used it for my Jasjar, N95, my Gf's chocolate, her Blackberry and now my Vibrant no issues.
as for overcharging, phones like most electronics, should have a built in switch that switches to trickle charge after completion. also batteries no longer use memory Cell technology so again no issues there. I only charge my phones at night and I leave them all night no issues. no dead batteries, no exploding phones, no overheating etc.

[Q] Battery Preservation

Dear L2 G2 owners,
I really love my battery on my LG G2 and since its not removable i want to do the best to preserve its lifespan.
So what i'm doing is, plugging in my phone to the charger when i get home and leave it there even after its been completely charged.
Is that correct or should i leave the battery to complete its cycle then charge it when its almost empty.
What other tips would you suggest.
Cheers!

From what ive read thats exactly how youll reduce your batterys life span
Sent from my LG-D802 using xda app-developers app
The more cycles, the shorter the life span. The thing that will destroy the most is heat. These are good batteries, trickle won't do much, heat is the worst. Don't worry so much about it. Nothing you do is going to have much of a noticeable impact.
Thanks a lot for the info guys!

Btw, these batteries are indeed replaceable. Just not in a normal way, and more difficult than say a MAXX. The back cover does come off. Just a thin plastic back that can be removed going clockwise from SIM tray.

Any available online stores that provide such replacement batteries?
Also is there a video tutorial on how to open the back cover.

I've done a little research on batteries from such places as Battery University, and learned a few things that might be interesting. I haven't posted enough to post links, but the location after batteryuniversity dot com is "learn/article/charging_lithium_ion_batteries" if anyone wants more information.
It seems that Li-Ion and Li-Polymer batteries are treated essentially the same; the difference is mainly in the packaging. As for charging, they do better if not charged 100%, and never discharged 100%. But one thing they say, which I was told by the salesman when I bought it (but didn't believe him at the time) is that they should not be charged while power is on. The charger is designed to trickle charge the battery, coming on at a certain voltage. But when under power, this cycle happens too often and stresses the battery too much. I suppose it might be OK to charge it while on if you watch it, and remove the cable when it gets to full charge or just under that. I suppose a timer would be ideal.
I just wish I knew how much difference it actually makes, since turning it off means you can't receive calls. I've had devices with Lithium batteries in the past that were left on a charger all night, and the batteries seemed to last for several years, which is probably longer than my phone really needs to last.
I still think its funny that people don't think that there isn't any charging logic in the phone and that it just willfully commits battery suicide if the user doesn't micromanage charging.
Back in the day, early battery tech such as NiCad was extremely sensitive to temperature and the chargers weren't designed with intelligence so they destroyed batteries with 'Fast' charging by overheating. Also, if you never let the battery discharge completely, the battery would start to form cadmium crystals and lower the apparent capacity of the battery. So, slow and deep cycles were the proper way to go. NiMH batteries were far superior and intelligent chargers were introduced but could still suffer the same symptoms of over heating with cheap chargers.
The idea that you can only trickle charge Lithium Ion/Polymer batteries is laughable. The rate of charge is controlled based on the temperature of the battery, if it heats up, the charging circuit clamps the current down, if it is cold it ramps it up. Also, contrary to wisdom applied to NiCad, deep discharges and full charges are harder on Lithium batteries than the earlier tech. In the mid ranges of charge the charger will go all out, when it reaches the top end it slows down to a trickle because the battery is more sensitive to stress at those charge levels. Conversely, if the battery is fully discharged, the charging circuit will start out with a trickle and speed up as the level increases.
On the G2, if there is high resistance across the data pins it stays in slow charge mode, most likely to protect USB ports not meant for charging, if there is low/no resistance it goes into fast charge mode, it thinks it must be connected a dedicated charger. If the charger or the cable gives the wrong setting to the phone the user is left scratching their head.
Luckily the AT&T car charger I bought with my Galaxy SIII works properly with my G2. Sadly the correct cable with my laptop, even with Lenovo's dedicated charging port, it stays in slow charge mode because it senses a data connection.
Edit: Also, the comment about not charging while the phone is on is another hold over from the NiCad days. Lithium technology could care less as all phones have regulated charging circuits now.
