how can i see the .rmvb in the O2mini?

Isn't the .rmvb files Real Player files? If so, you can download Real Player for Pocket PC
http://www.realnetworks.com/industries/serviceproviders/mobile/products/player/ppc/
But someone will probably suggest a better alternative like tcpmp?

Realplayer and TCPMP won't help.
The best way to watvh rmvb is to first convert them to avi, shrink the avi to 320*240 and then watch it with TCPMP.

Codecs for windows media player?

Is it possible to download codecs from the internet for your pocket pc just like your home pc, as some video files i have copied onto my xda ii will not play, if so what is the best site to get these from?
Thankyou, as always!
Whats file types are you using.
Pocket TV plays MPEG's very nicely.
Also try MVP for other types including XviD's.
You will have to Google for them as I don't have the adresses
I use this DivX player (Mpeg4), don't know if it works with WM player.
Is that the codec Bob?
Yes, it is.
I compressed .avi file using DivX ;-) MPEG4 Fast/Low-Motion with Hero Video Convert and was able to play it on my MDA
but having the codec will not make mediaplayer play anything but
ms's own formats plus mp3
to play anything else mediawise you need 3th party players
If you need to play divx you should try BetaPlayer at http://beta.topcat.hu/ , it's amazing how fast the decoding is, I can see no differences with a divx played on a PC (feeding it with a 320x240 movie of course)..
Yes BetaPlayer is pretty good : very stable with good decoding capabilities definitely the way to go to read Mpeg4 on your PPC

video ripping

what programs are recommended for ripping DVDs into 640x480 to view on ameo?
any recomendations for conversion of existing AVIs ?
PocketDivXEncoder is free and excellent:
http://www.pocketdivxencoder.net/
cheers for that.
ive converted an existing AVI file i had, can view converted file on PC nicely but windows media player on Ameo says it cannot play file. Do i need a seperate divx player or codecs installed on the Ameo?
Also, the pocketdivxextractor doesnt seem to like the VOB files on a DVD to read. i dont see a preview, and when i tried extracting one..it came out jarbled and lasted only 5secs or so. Is there a trick i am missing? Tried a couple of my DVDs, in various drives
You need a divx player for PPC, WMP wont do them. Or mpg, its kinda sucky that way.
Also, pocketdivxencoder crashes lots under vista

you need "tcmp" or "coreplayer"
greetings,
Wout
Agreed, TCPMP or Coreplayer are your best media players for pocket pc and are capable of playing Divx, MP4, Xvid, OGG files and mpeg 1 files amongst others. WMP10 only supports WMV, MP4 and MPEG 1.
TCPMP is freeware and various codec plug ins are available for it, such as AVC, AC3, FFMEG etc.
Coreplayer is not free but is made by the same people and is a much nicer application aesthetically.
Conversion is achieved by many different methods. Pocketdivxencoder is a simple one to use, but is lacking in DVD to PPC capabilities. It is better used for quick re-encoding of existing AVI files etc.
For DVD Ripping get the following freeware software:
DVD Decryptor (to remove encryption from DVD and to rip it to hard drive)
Get and use DVDx 2.5 to encode the DVD to Divx based AVI file or Xvid (free codec)...though I prefer the results of using the latest Divx codec (but it's not free, you do get a long trial period though to see if it meets your demands).
So basically DVDx encodes your VOBs to one AVI file or other format and takes a bit longer than Pocketdivxencoder, but you get more options in encoding and much better results in my opinion.
Alternatively download a copy of ImToo 3GP Converter which can rip a DVD direct to any other format (most poular formats - providing it is not encrypted, in which case use DVD Decrypter or DVD Fab Decrypter Freeware and superb application).
Once you get the hang of these apps you should not need any others, but if you really get into all of this encoding lark, try Virtual Dub or such like programs which give you virtually full control over all aspects of video conversions.
Good luck.

Windows Media Player (MP4) Converter

Hi
Are there someone recommend softwares for converting MPEG video file into MP4 that can play in Athena WMP 10?
I tried ImTOO converter but my Athena says it doesn't support that file. I have old MP4 files that are able to play in WMP 10.
Thanks
Felcus
install TCPMP and the codec pack then you will be able to play any MP4's !
where to download?
google is your friend ! start with just TCPMP and if that does not work add the codec pack, the codec pack can be a little harder to find so I will up it for you.
Video recorded on HTC touch cannot view on Windows Media PLayer
HI,
can anyone help? I recorded some movie on HTC Touch and when i copied the file to my PC, I can view it on Windows Media Player 11. How can i solve this?
Do you mean you can't view it?
What type of file is it? MP4, 3gp, avi?
Id recommend VLC http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ on the PC for viewing most video files. Its free, lightweight and just works.

I dont know why you did not start your own thread on this but try installing something that can play 3gp files like quicktime
Windows Media Player supports only certain type of Codec. To make WMP support MP4 format, you should install filters for MP4 format and its associated codecs. After you installing these filters, all players that use DirectShow technology, include WMP, will support MP4 format.
Install the following codecs to have a try.
Elecard MPEG-4 Codec Pack
If you can't install or still can't play MP4 in WMP, converting your MP4 to WMP natively supported WMV or AVI format with Faasoft Video Converter is the best choise.

Glad it works for you! For most movie files, TCPMP is great, and then there is CorePlayer (the comercial version of TCPMP).

you may try Core player, its really great player which plays almost every format
where can i find it and is it for free?
I use youTubePlay, it's free and found on xda-developers. You can also save youtube clips into FLV format as well as MP3.
you-tube play is really awesome but why it doesn't play the flv files i got from my computer? it plays the flv files that it download it only
Look for TCPMP it's similiar media player to CorePlayer, its free, and with a .flv video codec you can play flv video files.
TCPMP could be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=380387
and for the plugin go here:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/tcpmpflvplugin/
Download the plugin and put .plg files to /(or Storage Card)/Program Files/TCPMP/ folder.
