A seemingly trivial question I know, but which is best the black or the white - in regards to fingerprints, showing the dirt, general wear and tear etc.? - your opinions please
Thanks.
white all the life!
In my case the sensation is like an APPLE device!
by the way the black one has some problem about the paint of the case. it seems that in a few weeks it goes away!
...that's what i'e heard on some forums!
bye
Thanks gerazzo, I've heard that too about the black ones - but I've got the dilemma that I prefer the black ones to the white ones, but the white ones do seem to be a bit more practical!

I had the black one first and after 12 hours of use it started to peel. So, now i have the white one which doesnt show any sign of peeling - BUT it is white, which i dont really like.
If you can live with the white color then go with the white one and you wont (probably) have the headache of paint problems.
Either way, most importantly the P3600 is a great device and you will enjoy the functionality regardless of the color of the casing.
Had three (3) Trinities now: Go for white. There is no peeling at all and fingerprints are nearly invisible. Only drawback: Others might think you have an Apple device
White! Just design a cool home screen.
I handled both for 5 minutes. A Black Trinity is like a black car, it looks great IF its clean but looks terrible when its dirty. After 5 minutes the finger prints bugged me.
Could just be my OCD self!
Well thanks guys, it sounds like I should go for the white one then - although I can't stand them in white! Why is nothing straight forward? Ho Hum.
Hey Guys,
the white is better, but where do you get your white one. In Germany you get only black ones. Do you have tips???
Thanks!
Oliver
Hi Oliver, well most of our white ones come with our operator Orange over here - but here are a few links to the white ones:

Thanks TJW.
Great Adresses with white Trinitys. You can be happy in UK, you get the whites.
You get the white in UK, FR, Switzerland and so on. Only Germany, only black. Thats funny
No I think to buy one in UK, better pay more and have more risk instead get a black one with peeling.....
Oh a funny story beside: I ask an shop in Switzerland about the white one. The have but they said "No delivery to germany, come to Zurich and take one there" What????
With best white greetings
The black and white guy Oliver
PS: HTC, If you read my message please say me the price for a white one and I will sent you the money....
Hey guys...this is the cheapest place I've found for the white one in the UK:

Not wackho jacko but G1. any advantages to white / black i.e. scratches finger prints muck?
I have a black one, cos Im an smoker...
I personally think the white is too i-pod coloured for my tastes so was gunna get the black one as I think its less in your face (also less inviting to mr thief)
so if all is good once someone confirms if the sat nav is any good as per my other thread i might be ordering sat nav
I think the white one looks slick. I wanted to get one, but I found a black one on ebay for $200. I could not pass on that.
as you can now see in my sig it says Blackstone (same cost: free phone, £30.00 pm for 18months)
I liked the white, but my wife thought it looked to much like a toy and "girly".
I also thought that white might show some scratches more. Especially if it bumps up against something a different color.
I ended up with black because that's all they had. I considered the bronze, but never saw it in person.
Double post and I don't know how to delete. Sorry.
White has issues seeing the letters on the keys in certain light.
White
I have the white one and I am a Bus Mechanic. I have about 7 friends with the black one that they kind of like mine. (Probably because its the only white one, not because of the color)
Problems:
Back is a silverish grey which kind of rubs around the corners and looks kind of bronze/brown. (I replaced with a Black Battery Cover)
I can imagine it would look horrible if it got chipped. I take good care of mine, but I still use it a lot.
Like the above poster said. The keyboard is kind of silverish grey and under certain light conditions it can be difficult to see. There is an application that you can download to turn on and off the backlight which helps a little, although I think eventually like any keyboard you will get accustomed to using it and not so much rely on seeing the keys.
Oddly enough given that my trade is all grease and diesel oil, it has stood up for 2 months w/o any problems and it is as white as the day I got it.
Hey guys,
Not trolling here, as I'm betting this topic has been beaten to death 6 pages down the forum, but it still puzzles me greatly.
Black or white?
To my eye, black is more sleek and serious, white (silver) is more fancy. How are your experiences in terms of build quality of both? Is it true that black smudges with fingerprints easily, and how view-able are they? Scratch/chip wise, how do both phones behave?
Any honest opinion, I would kill for. Thanks for your time lads.
Think of it like a car. White cars you have a tough time see scratches, but you can tell when it's dirty quicker. Black is the opposite.
i started off determined i wanted black, as I've been using a white SGS3 and I hate the white look in general, but I went to the store to see what it was like in person and it was nothing like I imagined. The black is very matte and not a deep black like i expected. The white (actually silver) on the other hand looks much better in person IMHO.
All in all, you really need to see the product yourself to decide. My Best Buy had both on display for me to check out. As someone who enjoyed the iphone 5 in black, the htc one's black model does not resemble it much at all and ends up looking a little bit cheaper to me. I'm going to end up getting the silver model.
silver color is good...
the metal underneath both finishes is silver. if you nick the black finish you will see silver. if you nick the silver finish, you will see more silver. which situation is more noticeable?
personally i believe a) if you could somehow keep your phone from getting dinged, black looks cool (even if it is more of a charcoal gray and not exactly black) and b) putting a great-looking and -feeling phone in a case is a waste of good design unless you expect to drop your phone at some point and/or care about resale value. (and besides if you have a case on your phone, the case obscures much of the phone's original finish anyway.)
because i am a) pretty sure my phone will experience a little wear and tear and yet b) i would prefer to use it without a case, i am guessing silver will make me happier in the long run even if black seems slightly more appealing now. and i mean *slightly* : honestly , both look good.
oh and it's not clear if the developer edition will ever come in black. HTC is saying no for now. not sure what to expect later on though.
black one gonna give lots of residual + finger prints in future usage. U will notice it really much, but if you going to get the case doesn't matter, silver looks more stylish and appealing high end device in your hand.
I have the black One and I am very happy about it. Had it 10 days now and only one tiny noticeable scratch at the top edge. Very very small one and easily covered by a black marker.
I have to day, I don't regret getting the black at all, it's so cool and stylish IMHO. It does attract more fingerprints but wipe it wit.your cloth easily clean it, I was a bit worried but not anymore since I.actually got the phone.
Of course, I don't abuse my phone, but don't avoid using it, it's always naked in my.pocket alone.
Oh, the back is quite durable I dropped it from knee high and.it landed on the back on wood floor, not a single mark.
Silver, ive had black phones all my life, its time for a change
i have a black car too..
I went for Silver too, never been a big fan of black phones. Or white ones, for that matter! really like the brown Galaxy S3 my girlfriend uses, and my old Desire HD had a bit do a brownish tint to it. Only had my silver One for a couple of hours so far, but it's stunning - very happy with it and it frames the display nicely. one day when we have true edge-to-edge displays then black would look amazing, but until then I think I'd prefer a silver, grey or brown.
flip a coin, heads white, tails black... but honestly if you flip the coin you will realize what color you want while the coin is spinning in mid air.

Or confuse yourself even more that's what happened to me when I was deciding... I took the black simply because another colleague in my company got a silver and I wanted to be different! It turns out to be a good choice.

I actually had chance to go back, switch to a silver One while I was still in the first 7 days after received the phone feared it may chip. But I stayed because my normal usage will not worsen the casing,

I hate it when a glossy phone gets all smudged up with fingerprints and either you:
A) Constantly have to clean it
or
B) Have it look like #%&!
It seems like the white version of the S4 won't show fingerprints the way the black one does. Has this swayed anyone's decision out there who wanted to go black but ended up going white?
Of course... Samsung could have avoided their black version looking like #%&! by simply putting a texture on the outside of the back plate like they did with the Galaxy S2... but I guess that would be too simple
The S4 has a faux texture, but I see what you mean. I picked the white since it was all they had at the store. We got another white and a black on preorder and I'll make my decision then.
FWIW I much preferred the black GS2 over the white.
I'm going with white because it repeals heat (or won't be as hot). If you get black, well, prepare for a game of hot potato.
I've got black, the fingerprints are very hard to see because of the texture.
That really only matters if you are putting the back of the phone in direct sunlight.

i preordered the black and i must say fingerprints was the last thing i considered when i picked the colour

please explain why the colour white/black variant influences the hottness of the phone in the case of high loads. By me its nonsence as the single colour just cant do that, so the matter could be different firmware/material/faulty device THX

The only thing this would have ground on is in direct sunlight lol
:FAIL:
yes but he didnt say that is on the direct sunlight. He said it like generaly. Thats why I expect some more info about his claims
Absolutely hate shiny phones and I went with the white S3 because of fingerprints.
This time I thought a bit more. I always have it in a case, so I got the black.
No I didnt I went for the black, I put a full body screen protector on it, google it up if you dont know what it is. Ta-da no more finger prints. Now I just have to sell my s3

Dark colors traps heat. I have the S3 in pebble blue. When I play hd games, or use for extended period, the phone becomes hot. Add to the fact that I have a black case on it. My sis-in-law has a white s3. She's a power user, but every time I touch her phone, I don't feel much heat. She has a light colored case on hers.
To make it plainer, go outside dressed all in black & stand in the sun for a few hours. Then tell me how you feel

Black pigments absorb all visible colors of light. That is why they appear black to you. They take up that light as heat (not gonna explain the long way, so don't freak out, physics majors) so you feel warmer. White stuff reflects all visible colors, which is why you see the white sunlight reflected onto your eyes. They don't take up the energy from that reflected light, so they don't get as hot.
Your comparison only makes sense if the backs of the phones are constantly in direct sunlight, in which case the heat generated by the phone itself is trivial. The only way there could be a difference between the two models is if they use different materials for each one, and I highly doubt that is the case. In your situation, I would be willing to bet that the cases you have on the phones are made from different materials, in which case one is a better conductor than the other.

I'll have to keep that in mind when choosing phone colors & cases.
BTW, your name (the first word), is my middle name, minus 1 extra letter.
yes Jihad I ment it in this way Iam an engineer so I know all this things thats why I disagree Saturny's explain and doesnt make sence to me. So finaly the difference in the heat thing will be only on direct sunlight as black SGS3/4 couldnt cool up and dissipate the heat from stressed components...so white or black doesnt care...in my country will by black after a week maybe more than a week so I'll take white today...
Since some of us are getting our Solar Red phones in I was wondering what you guys thought of the color. Personally I like it, but it is more Watermelon red instead of blood red looking at it straight on. Is anyone else seeing it?

Ha Ha Ha
Got my Solar Red unit today and I am very pleased, if not as ecstatic as I had hoped. From videos and photos online, I assumed it would be that darker red/orange color most of the time too. However, the "default" color in typical lighting is more of a salmon/watermelon/wine color, though it definitely does go deep red/orange in certain lighting and angles. I would probably be happy with either the sapphire blue or solar red, but I'm glad I waited for the latter.

Yeah mine is the same way. I did notice that the phone is darker red outdoors, so its likely just a lighting thing. I am still happy with it, I just didn't know if I got a dud or not since it was so different in person.
You guys had me worried for a moment, mine arrived today and I love the colour, it's as good as expected for me, look forward to seeing it in various different lighting conditions.
Mine is a little less red than I was expecting too, but I'm not complaining.
I like that mine is a little less red then I was expecting. It's more refreshing then the pure red I thought it might be.
I think it looks pink or salmon most of the time. It turns a cool yellow/gold at many different angles but in normal office light, it looks pink/salmon. I was disappointed that it wasn't really red.
Love my red U11. It's also a lighter red than I was expecting, but it still looks fantastic!
The color is less red then advertised but still beautiful. Of course the color is different because it's glass and not plastic or metal like we've used too.
It definitely looks better than my wife's Amazing Silver which is light blue :silly:

To me is more like an Orange Red, than Strawberry Red, or Bloody Red.
Still like it a lot.
If only I could find a case to show it off, with good protection.
All the transparent cases I've seen so far are not safe enough to protect this phone.

I like the Spigen Liquid Crystal case. I posted some pictures of my solar red U11 in it here. They're the last 4 pictures to compare with the SEIDIO version that does NOT protect the screen.

I really love my Solar Red and I, too, have the Spigen Liquid Crystal case, which I actually quite like (after migrating from HTC's leather protective case).
I dig the hell out of my Solar Red. It does look salmon colored but only in these TPU cases which dull the hell out of the shiny. I think without the case it really does look like Stark's armor in Iron Man I. So .. I named it Jarvis. I'm probably going to do an ultra clear skin. I don't drop phones and haven't broken a screen ever but I don't want that shiny back scratched. I dig this phone a lot and I can't really find fault with it. The wife is thinking about getting the blue model since she's more into that color.
Love the solar red. Love the colour red. Here’s my comparison with my solar red, iPhone 7 Plus Product Red and a red sofa
https://gavinsgadgets.com/2017/08/1...d-vs-iphone-7-plus-product-red-vs-a-red-sofa/
Same as everyone else. Not really red. More pink/gold. Not really that good looking. Not impressed.
The back protector that came with the phone is also pretty horrible and distorts the little colour there is. (Also scratches very easily).
