Good buy
I puchased an SD card from moby memory on the friday before xmas. Arrived next day.
Was hoping to buy a mini and adapter for use in my JASJAR but a large price difference at the time.
Wow this has come down fast to what I paid for a hi speed normal size SD card.

Can anyone confirm that it works with the Wizard? TY

4gb sd card
I brought a 4gb transcend on us ebay.com and it woks well. Reccomended.

4GB minisd
You are telling that you have bought a "4gb" transcend "mini-sd" working well on a HTC Wizard or am I completely lost ?

He probably means 4gb SD card; I have not seen/heard rumours of 4gb mini-sd for sale as yet.....

You'd think so judging by the MDA Pro in his signature details.

gaz
I use ATP and only ATP - their SD cards have never given me a problem and the 1Gb version works flawlessly with my TomTom
They have a 2Gb version out now too - bit expensive tho
where can i get those sd made japan m8?
i dont think i could get 1g atp sd in UK for less than 50quid.
you can try ebay, expansys.co.uk, ebuyer.com, dabs.com, svp.co.uk, komplett.com
many sites just go with the brands i put down
Best prices I have seen for good quality cards are here.....

Or try Ebay - 1gb ATP card for about £55

Fingers crossed for a 4Gb SD card (low speed ones)

Already 2 weeks into my O2 mini and I'm looking for a 4Gb card. I have a 2Gb card but have already loaded in a Lexipedia (concise Wikipedia), some video files, mp3s, and about 500MB reserved for photos, internet radio recording, offline web pages, and voice + phone call recording. Need more space for my VCD series so I can watch on the train.
Apparently, one store in Australia clearly stated on their website that any 2Gb High Speed cards 133X 150X will not work with the O2 Mini...yes, there are some users on this board who have got 150X cards running fine on their Magician but is not the norm.
Pretty much the Sandisk Ultra II and SanDisk normal SD card of 2G works fine on the Magician. So I'm looking for 4Gb cards that are around 60X or lower.
Checked on ebay and practically everyone's selling the Transcend and/or Adata 150X 4Gb SD cards which I doubt will work on the Magician. So hopefully in the coming months, if not sooner, Sandisk will make a normal 4Gb SD card.
There was a thread on the the accessories section a while back. Basically, if you want a sure bet, try the 4GB AData MMC (the green one, not the pink SD). A user reported that these definitely work. There are a ton selling on eBay as we speak for ~£120 inc p&p.

I second that.
Running a normal Sandisk 2GB without Problems!
Unfortunately all the 4Gb's on ebay seem to be the high capacity 150X ones (pink ones). That's why hopeful that they will release the green 60X ones
The 4GB Sandisk works with the Jam, but it doesn't work correctly with normal readers for the desktop that are out on the market right now. Sure, you can put movies and large files on the 4GB, but try putting a ton of photos and smaller files, such as map data. I found that the Sandisk 4GB version fails after a while, time and time again. My 2 GB Sandisk works flawlessly. Fortunately for me, my retailer off eBay has refunded my payment and I am sending his card back.
Hi gadgetman901,
Very curious as to how you managed to get your hands on a Sandisk 4Gb when there is no info about it on the Sandisk official website. Tried to search on ebay for it but the only 4Gb cards that showed up was an Ultra II that looks exactly like a Sandisk but is not a Sandisk brand.

It was on eBay a few weeks ago. The reseller does not have them listed on eBay right now. I called Sandisk when I first got it, and was having trouble formatting it with my laptop and desktop. They said that it was a counterfeit, but the reseller told me that he got them from Asia where they just were released. Regardless, the 4 GB showed up on my PPC and Desktop as 3.78 GB FAT32; however after copying my files from my 2GB to the 4GB, it pooped out every time. There was something definitely wrong with this card. I got my money back so I am still in the market for a 4 GB. Does the card you listed work with the Jam and Window XP computers??
No I haven't got any 4Gb cards. I would probably agree that the card you bought was counterfeit. Which probably is good news..when Sandisk release their 4Gb card, it should work on our Magicians
gentlemen, the 4GB is for sure a fake, please be carefull when someone offers you such cards. they are at most 512M if you are lucky and the ID on the SD is set for 4GB sundisk etc. this is also true for flash disks (disk on key) where in every market in china you can find 8GB sony - which are actually 128/256. Be carefull.
Counterfeit Sandisk 4Gb looks so real

You won't know unless you checked Sandisk's website and contact them whether this is the real article or not. If not for this forum, I'll probably be buying that one.

a hi-speed confirmed working 4gb sd card and from a reputable ebay shop.

Yep... that's the one I bought! I couldn't believe that it is a fake! It looked so real and registered as 3.78 GB. At least this reseller has good customer service. Once I alerted him of this issue, he immediately refunded me, and I sent it back. Based on the forums I have read, I decided to get the Adata 4 GB MMC card. I feel good about this card and will post results.
MMC vs SD
Is MMC generally slower than SD?
I have a 1Gb 60X MMC card that benchmarked at 0.46MB/s on my handheld (without FAT backup, with FAT backup, it is 0.43MB/s) compared to a standard Sandisk 2Gb at 0.64MB/s
Not much difference in speed but precious seconds is important if you use the external card for internet browsing
the reason why they were so quick in refunding you is it is a fake and they probably know!!!
Anyways good that it turned out OK.

Just for a test I put it in my Magician....
And it works flawlessly
andilein
Pretec 4gb 133x
ive had the pretec 4gb 133x since the 1st week of january and ive had no problems ever since

If you need one contact me!

Transcend 4GB 150X SD and o2 Mini

Just picked up my 4GB card at the PO just now.
It is the Transcend 4GB High Speed 150X card
It works on my Mini straight out of the packaging...no formatting necessary.
But if you are going to buy this card for your Mini, test it out first anyway just to be sure that it can work on your Mini. Don't buy blindly just because you read this post.
For a list of devices that are compatible with this card, visit the Transcend's website here
http://www.transcendusa.com/Support/FAQ/index.asp?axn=Detail&FAQNo=400
I didn't think Magicians could use cards bigger than 1GB?
now you know
4GB Adata SD not compatabile
Via confirmation of a buyer on ebay selling the 4GB Memory card 150X Adata Secure Digital SD; he says that this make is NOT compatible.
O2mini_noob: did you purchase your Transcend from one of those ebay far-eastern sellers?
I think I need one too- only about 100MB left on 2GB!
AData 150X 4GB won't work because the same brand 2GB failed to work on some Magician models.
I took the punt on Transcend because of this web site that claims the Transcend 4GB will work with the o2 mini
http://www.smartphonestunts.nl/index.php?tid=101
Yes, I actually bought a 2GB Adata a long time ago to find out exactly that.
The only thing holding me back from getting a 4gb is not knowing what device I will be getting next and when; will it be Standard SD or miniSD :!:
add 2 other confirms. a jam user and m500 user on modaco both confirm this card working!
Yo O2mini_noob!
Nice for you that it works, do you have a later build mini?
Please post the date when your phone was build (there must be a reason why these cards work on some magicians)
My Mini is about 4 weeks old...the firmware is 1.12 WWE with 1.12 Radio

2GB mini SD on ebay UK

Wondering what people's thoughts are on this:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/High-Speed-2G...593065570QQcategoryZ18871QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
It's not a 'big' brand and the price seems very cheap for a 2GB card.
John
After shipping it's about 20-25 quid cheaper than retail and it claims to be a 150x (22meg a second transfers card).
Only had my Wizard a week and took me a few days to actually find 2gb Mini-SD's in stock with a UK retailer.
I ended up with this:
http://www.mobymemory.com/proddetail.asp?prod=miniSD_2048mb_MOBY_001
However, some of the card readers I have will not read the card via the provided SD adapter - I was warned of this and do have a newish card reader which does, as does the one in my laptop.
Works fine in the Wizard though and tbh speed to me is unimportant considering the speed of the devices processor.
If you get one and have success with it, please drop a note back.
I have seen the Mobymemory one, their price for the 1GB card seems unbeatable pretty much but I'm tempted by this 2GB card as I can get the postage cheaper using a Paypal code as well.
John
I had a Zynet SD card for my XDA2s. It worked beautifully, and continues to work in my digital camera.
I got A 'MyFlash' 2gb 60x mini-sd card off ebay last week. It took like 6 days tops to get here and works great, even in my tempermental in-built SD reader.
How much did you pay for the Myflash one?
Thanks for the feedback on Zynet, tempted to go for this now.
John
Came to about £80 including shipping and insurance
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7589600960&rd=1&sspagename=STRK:MEWN:IT&rd=1
I remember reading somewhere that a higher speed SD card will drain the XDA battery faster.
If you're not looking for the fast cards, some reasonable prices here as well:
http://www.mymemory.co.uk/Mini-SD
The 2G Sandisk card isn't actually in stock with them yet though.
John
1G is more than enough 4 me...-_-#
I was kinda hoping of picking this up...
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000EEZEVC/104-8849050-7307124?_encoding=UTF8&v=glance&n=172282
But I don't know if I can wait until May!
I've decided to go for a 1GB card for now, I can always buy another 1GB card so both my HTC devices can benefit from it.
John
4 gig cards are meant to start shipping this month.
OK - i know they will start at an unrealistic premium - but does anyone know if 4 gig (or more that that which is likely to be out by summer) will work in the wizard?
Seems cheap for a 2Gb memory card of any size. I'd recommend mymemory.co.uk for memory cards, and they have a 2Gb Sandisk MicroSD for £54.99.
Seems cheap to me, but sandisk's one of the best makes for memory cards.
i use the moby memory2gb minisd - 80ish quid delivered next day and works well
I think are more cheap at:
http://cgi.ebay.com/2GB-2G-mini-SD-...74095023QQcategoryZ118260QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
I will buy one!

I have used them often and they offer a good service (based in the chanel islands). However they have been out of stock of the 2 gig cards for a while now.
They have a facility whereby you give them your email and they will contact you when the cards return to stock.
http://www.mymemory.co.uk/item_out_of_stock.php?id=1239
Incidentally, I have had only one memory card fail on me, and it was the sandisk 32 meg that came with the siemens SL45 as standard.
The SL45 seemed years before its time - it seems crazy to think there were phones with memory cards in 2000 and even now a minority have them.

T-mobile MDA/Sandisk 2GB

I want to get a 2GB Sandisk and I was wondering what is the cheapest way to get all of the 2gb to work on the tmobile mda? I heard i gotta buy a card reader or something but is this the only way? also what is the best brand 2GB/Card Reader (if i have to get a card reader)? Is 2GB the highest I can go with the MDA? thats all I hear people talking about.
Also what exactly would I need a 128mb backup card for? I already changed to the custom rom (2.17) so im j/w what its for
the cheapest way would be to put the card in your pda and transfer the data you want to it, no card reader needed, tho a card readers faster
so what exactly is the point of the card reader? I've read about some people being limited to 1gb with the 2gb miniSD cards
sorry end of my post should have read, a card reader writes faster.
think speed is the advantage
Not long ago a lot of people had trouble writing large files to an SD card via a PPC. As I recall, ActiveSync would take a dump during the write. I don't know how relevant that is anymore but I keep a card reader handy just in case. And as mentioned, it's magnitudes faster.

what exactly is faster? the transfer with a card reader? just a little confused what brand should I be goin with for both?
can anyone help with the brand for the miniSD and the card reader? Have seen people post about problems with formatting ni such
I personally use a generic 2gb card I bought off eBay for a total of $60.00 US. Similar to http://cgi.ebay.com/2GB-MiniSD-2GB-...temZ9705544950QQcategoryZ118260QQcmdZViewItem.
The reader I use I also got off eBay (it came with a 256mb MMC card I bought about a year ago for my old phone). It is basically the same as http://cgi.ebay.com/USB-2-0-SD-MMC-...94559134QQcategoryZ103409QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem.
Copying 1gb worth of MP3 files to the card using ActiveSync 4.1 takes about 20 minutes. Copying them using the card reader only takes about 5 minutes.
Hope that helps.
i got a sandisk one off ebay
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....PageName=MERC_VIC_ReBay_Pr4_PcY_BIN_Stores_IT
ordered myself one last week 2GB SANDISK MINISD , got it saturday just gone and no problems £49 total including p&p + insurance
think there going for £45 UKP inc p&p now
scrap that £41 inc p&p!

SanDisk are a good reliable maker of memory cards and cheap. I have not had one fail on me yet. 2GB is the highest anyone makes at the moment on MiniSD. As for card readers, anything made in the last year should work as you just use an adaptor to put the MiniSD into a SD slot, if it doesn't have a MiniSD slot. Oh yes, SanDisk MiniSD cards come with the adaptor.
Has anyone focused on the SLC / MLC flash-chip layouts being used?
SLC is faster, more reliable, better compatible, lower power consumption and has longer lifetime but is more expensive. Chip mainly made by Samsung.
Mobymemory sells them in uk @ approx 60 GBP
MLC is the opposite. Chip mainly made by Toshiba. Branded as Sandisk, Kingston and others.
It is rumoured that a lot of high speeds cards are all SLC, but until now I havent found any confirmation.
