O2 MMS not sending out - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

Sorry if this has been answered before (but I can't find a solution).
I have loaded latest o2 rom in corporate mode and entered the MMS config but all I get is :
"Unable to send your message(s). Your message(s) will remain in the Outbox."
The settings I have are:
For MMS settings
server O2UK
193.113.200.195
port 9201
server address: http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002
I have a wireless connection at home and am not sure what MMS should connect through (connect via choice in settings).
Anyone have an idea or had the same problem?
Steve

i have had the same problem. never figured out how to get it to send, despite trying lots of things in connection settings, so gave up in the end.
would be interested to hear the answer tho! )

Use your gprs operator settings.. You cannot have any other connection...

hey here are the O2 settings that work for me to enable sending of MMS Messages
in MMS Configuration under servers i have
Server Name O2UK
Gateway 193.113.200.195
Port number 9201
Server address http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002
Connect via My Work Network
Then in settings under the connections tab click on Connections
Add a new modem connection under My Work Network
This should be called something like o2 Active connecting using Cellular Line (GPRS, 3G)
Access point wap.o2.co.uk
username o2web
password password
leave everything else as default.
This should let you send MMS Messages, it works for me!

Thanks mjames_84 those settings are working now.
Hope it helps others too.

ah... this might be the problem - i do
i already have a connection setup in both "My Connections" and "My Work Connections"
is there no way around this?

tried deleting the other connection in "My Work Connections" and yup - MMS sends fine now. not sure what i'll do when i need that connection again, but for the moment - yay, MMS fun

One thing I have noticed ....
Even with the settings above - I cannot get MMS to send with "WAP 2.0" selected (default setting) under MMS configuration
As soon as I select WAP 1.2 they send straight away
Anyone else noticed this ?

Hmm I'm not 100% sure on this, but I think if you want to use WAP2.0 you have to specify a different port. I seem to remember that when using personal mode instead of corporate it was set up to use WAP2.0 and the port was different to the settings I had previously written down from my old XDAII....I still used the settings from my XDAII cause I know that they worked.
Can anyone (mad enough) running the full personal installation with o2 Active find out what port is used my default when using WAP2.0 for sending MMS Messages?

Port number for WAP 2.0 is 8080

Thanks Lord Buckingham
Does anyone know what the difference is between WAP 1.2 and 2.0? Is 2.0 faster? better? more secure?

But even with port 8080 selected I still can't send MMS with wap 2.0 selected - yet with 1.2 I can send them via port 9201 or 8080 ! the port number was the first thing I changed when I had problems , from the default 8080 to 9201 (which seemed to be the obvious choice ) so it seems that wap 2.0 just doesn't work for me
very strange ! I'd be interested to know if anyone is using 2.0 successfully (just out of curiousity)

I sent one near the start, but had to reduce the pic size below 100K or something, if I recall....
Anyone confirm what the limits are on O2?

I still cannot get it to send using any of the above settings or the original ones that o2 active install. If I use the o2 3g contract sim that came with it then it sends with NO PROBLEM whatsoever, BUT I don't use my contract sim ever, I use a o2 online sim which I have used for years.
Any ideas?
Is the settings different for PAYG and for CONTRACT ?
If so then I need the settings for PAYG please guys, can you help?

if you are using an old "on line" SIM I suspect that it might be one of the old Genie internet SIMs, so the settings may be different. Try setting the device up as pay and go, so change the APN to "payandgo.o2.co.uk" , username "payandgo", password "password", all the other settings should be the same. If this fails, climb into a large bottle of red wine, sometimes its the only way

Hey, i couldnt get it to download a message and the fix above worked.
Im assuming that as it connected to the 3g network that it charged me for d/ling the message yeah?
can it to be set to do it when its synced with the computer or in a wifi area?
Cheers
JAmes

Got mine working with WAP 2.0 !!
The settings I have are:
Server: O2UK
193.113.200.195

Server address: http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002
Connect via: The WAP Network

Has someone figured out MMS on T-Mobile in the USA?

I've found instructions on their site, and various other places, but no joy. I can make GPRS connections and send/receive SMS just fine, but MMS simply times out.
mms setting tmobile usa
i might be able to help ill post tomorrow with the settings
T-Mobile MMS
First... In order for you to receive MMS messages, your GPRS has to be connected to wap.voicestream.com
2nd in your MMS application you need to point the MMS application to use the wap.voicestream.com profile.
3rd. The gateway address is listed as 216.155.165.050 well.. I'm here to tell you .. that leading 0 messes everything up, just get rid of it and use 216.155.165.50 instead.
This should get you connected.
Brandon
I'm unable to connect to wap.voicestream.com, so it seems I need to get them to authorize it...
What is the server address to put in the MMS settings? I have:
http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms
Authorize
Yeah.. Have them set you up and let them know that you have a device that uses Picture Messaging.
Well, that works if I manually connect to the WAP gateway and set the MMS software to use "The internet" as the connection. Thanks!
Any ideas on how to make it auto-dial the WAP connection when it needs to, so I can leave the normal gateway as the internet default? Otherwise I have to switch it manually every time I want to use the VPN.
With these settings, it's still not working for me. What should I put for the port number?
Use port 9201
Are any of you getting free internet anymore? I stopped using my phone for a while, but I haven't gotten free internet in a while and its buggine me. Someone suggested signing up for t-zones and then using wap.voicestream.com, but I don;t want to waste the money unless I have to. Thanks.
Port 9201 worked! Thanks, imagine_einstein!!

Think I just found a form that can help: tmo MMS not working on 8125

Hello Everyone/Rambo6 ... I'm a newbie to this forum. Please help before me I give up on my 8125 ...
I have an unlocked cingular 8125 using tmobile service. I have not been able to get MMS to work yet (I'm pretty sure my settings are correct). I've been spending 3 days now on 4 different forums, but I still can't get an answer. I was really happy to see that Rambo6 (in one of the threads) got his to work, so I'm sure I've found the right place to get help.
I guess the questions are:
1) What am I doing wrong?
2) Do I need to flash with a TMO ROM? I tried to update the ROM from tmo website but I got an error, I think it was something like "invalid vendor" ... or something like that. I'm currently using the Cingular ROM. Phone & SDS works.
3) Does anyone have a step by step process on this? With pics would be awsome.
4) Is my phone not fully unlocked eventhough I can use the tmobile SIM for phone/SMS?
Here my ppc info:
ROM version: 2.25.11.1 WWE
ROM date: 5/11/06
Radio version: 4.1.13.12
Protocol version 4.1.13.12
ExtROM version: 2.25.102
my settings was based on (from tmo website):
wap.voicestream.com
216.155.165.050 in the Gateway field
8080 in the Port number field
http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms in the Server address field
WAP 2.0
I did spent time reading through this forum (and a lot on other forums). I apologize if this has already been answered. I did honestly tried to search 1st.
bump !
i myself have been searching aswell looks like its a common issue with the cingular 8125 .
um.. did you edit the media net connection to point to tmo? im not clear on the tmo settings, but i know on cingular, the mms settings uses the media net connection, if i have my edge on MY Isp it fails (im assuming it needs that proxy from MEdia net) so basically you will need the internet settings as well...
I used the following settings from the tmobile website. I have a feeling I need to use the tmobile ROM. I'm a little worried because I have not found on this forum how to verify if my device is actually cid unlock. From what I can tell I have a G3 (IPL/SPL 2.25) chip so there is an unlock tool for that. I just need a way to verify that cid unlock actually worked.
Anyway, I took a risk and tried to flash with the tmobile ROM and got "Invalid vendor ID". I've been brousing this forum for this, but haven't found an answer yet. I guess if some one know please tell me now ... I've been spending 3 days now (actually 4 now) reading & reading & reading. Would be nice to get an answer now. What's wrong? Do I need a tmobile ROM? Thanks!!!

Shoganmark,
I read your reply but I didn't absorve (spelling?) it very well. I'm a little tired ... have not had much sleep. After reading your reply again, I think (maybe) I know where your getting at. I'll think about it a little more to make sure I really do understand what you're saying before I ask anymore dumb questions. Thank for your reply.

wasnt really a dumb question... just had to get it figured out.. i am cingular and not sure what the tmo connections look like, but i assumed they worked in the same manner as cingular, i didnt know if there were 2 different edge settings on tmo like cingular.. and i may not have explained it the best, but i was trying to explain how cingulars connection worked so that maybe in understanding that it would help your mms problem...
Have you gotten it to work yet?
let me try to break down how cingular's works and make it a little more understandable, hopefully this will help you figure your tmo problem out..
On the connections tab cingular has 2 gprs settings
MEdia Net (uses a proxy server)
MY Isp (does not use a proxy)
Now by default cingular is set to MY Isp (due to wifi, wifi will not work if set to MEdia net due to the proxy server)
Then of course in the MMS folder settings is the MMS connection settings...
Now if the phone is set to my isp it will not send an mms message (im guessing due to the proxy server.. sounds like a pain in the a$$ yet?)
in order for me to send an mms i have to set the phone to MEdia net (im guessing again due to proxy)....
Hello ShogunMark,
Unfortunately I was NOT able to get MMS to work. I tried soft reset & power
down also. Anyway here's what I've done so far:
1) For Connections I use MEdia Net (setting up for internet)
based from: http://tmobileus.wdsglobal.com/wap?...mobileNumber=&captchaEnabled=true&service=wap
Name for Connection: PictureMessaging
Select a modem: Cellular Line (GPRS)
Access point: wap.voicestream.com
PROXY:
Proxy Server: 216.155.165.050
Port: 8080
This nework connect to the internet: checked
This network uses a proxy ....: checked
# I see the following but didn't change it ... not sure what to
# set it to (and tmo instruction didn't say anyting about this)
Socks: localHost: 1080
2) For MMS profile:
based from:
http://tmobileus.wdsglobal.com/mms?...mobileNumber=&captchaEnabled=true&service=mms
Server name: PictureMessaging
Gateway: 216.155.165.050
Port Number: 8080
Server Address: http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms
Connect via: MEdia Net

There's gotta be a stupid little thing I'm overlooking ... I'm just out of ideas now. This does not have anything to do with which ROM (Cingular vs TMO) correct? I don't think so, but then again there may be something hidden in the ROM.

help is what this community is for... no need to thank me
I'm not a WM5 and HTC Wizard expert yet (had the device less than a month and its my first WM device) so if i don't help i'm sorry, but i'll try anyways.
From what i know WM dosen't include MMS capabilities built in so my Wizard, T-Mobile MDA (US), uses something from ArcSoft to do that, i'm sure yours does too as HTC probably chose that. Have you looked into the settings for MMS Composer (the stuff by ArcSoft)?
The easiest way to do that i found was simply open up Pocket Outlook like you do to send an MMS -> Hit Menu -> Tools -> Options -> Tap "MMS" (may be named something else i can't say for Cingular's ROM) -> Hit "Servers" tab -> Ensure that new connection you set for MMS as T-Mobile told you via their site is the one MMS composer is set to use.
I can't imagine why it wouldn't work if that's set right... But post if that helps at all or not
Don't get rid of the 8125 though we'll all crack at it till it works
Hello Frazell,
You are correct about Arcsoft ... I did noticed that MMS uses Arcsoft (I saw that in the "About"). I went through the setup as stated at tmobile website already ... so I'm surprise too why it didn't work. Maybe this will give my helpers some more hints ... when I hit send:
1) The 1st pop-up widow is: "Connecting to PictureMessaging, Connecting to
GPRS" I didn't see any error here so I assume it's ok.
2) On top of the today screen, I see a yellow envelope with a gree arrow.
I assume that means it's trying to send.
3) After a little while, I see "unable to send message" pop-up.
4) Now, if I got to the comn manager, I see the "Data Connection" is active.
I think it turns on when I send a MMS. If this is true, then this connection
being on means I can get a connection via GPRS?
5) Another note that I don't think I've mentioned. I am using the prepaid
t-mobile plan. MMS is suppose to be provided with the prepaid plan
(25cents per pic), so I'm not sure if this is a problem. I've already
checked with t-mobile that SMS & MMS are activated on my account.
ps. I've been searching on differnet forums (howardforum, pocketpcaddict ....), and I see some other people have this problem also. Most of the posts I see never had a reply, so I don't know if they solved it or not.
1 more edit to add: Both my wife and I have the same phone with the same problem, so I don't think it's a hardware problem.
(edit: fixed spelling)
with prepaid can u browse the internet....... if not u will not b able to send mms messages
Yes, prepaid can have internet access (it'll be expensive thouth). Here's the service listed by t-mobile
Included services
* Nationwide long distance (including calls to Alaska and Hawaii)
* National roaming on the T-Mobile USA network
* t-zones (free shopping for HiFi Ringers, MegaTones®, wallpapers, and more)
* VoiceMail, caller ID, call waiting, three-way calling*
* Free e-mail address ([email protected])
Other services
* Text messaging ($0.10 to send, $0.05 to receive)
* Picture messaging ($0.25 to send or receive)
* Download ringtones and wallpaper (prices vary)
* Download games and applications (prices vary)
* 411 & More directory assistance ($1.49 per call plus airtime)
* International dialing to over 150 countries (international rates apply)
im downloading a tmo us rom now... gonna pick apart the ext rom and see whats there.. hopefully i can come up with something to help you guys
ok, i found about 5 necessary cabs in the ext rom.. one makes the mms folder and some other reg settings, the rest makes the connections between internet and MMS.. i put a config text inside to show the order to install the cabs.. then reboot.. see if this solves your problem
Shogunmark,
I was not able to install the 3rd cab ("P_Generic_Conn_Settings.CAB") ... Got an "unsuccessful" installation. Should I continue
to install the rest?
my port is 9201 other than that everything else looks the same.

Tytn won't download MMS

Hey folks,
Received notification of my first MMS since getting the Tytn. I selected "Download" and also "Send/Receive" several times, and it won't download the stupid thing.
I'm on Cingular, and here are the settings I entered manually, per Cingular's website:
Gateway: wireless.cingular.com
Port: 8080
Server: http://mmsc.cingular.com
Connect via: (I've tried "The Internet" and "Media Net" here)
Sending size limit 250k
WAP version: WAP 2.0
The following items are checked in Preferences:
-Retrieve Messages Immediately.
-Save Sent Messages
-Allow Delivery Report
Attempts before giving up: 4
Photo resolution: original
The file being sent to me is only 109k so I don't think it's too big by any means.
Does anyone on Cingular have any different settings?
Thanks.
Cingular MMS Settings
Hello, this is my first reply on this board so here it goes.
i had plenty of problems at first with cingular and mms working together untill i tried these settings which are pretty similar to yours besides the port #.
Server name: Cingular MMS
Gateway: wirless.cingular.com
Port Number: 80
Server address: http://mmsc.cingular.com
Connect via: My ISP
Sending size limitaion: 250k
WAP Version: WAP 2.0
Now a couple of explanations. ( to the best of my ability. please feel free to correct.)
server name: this is either the default name or you can create a new server name of your choice. I have gone as far as deleting the default server and creating the new name of Cingular MMS. Or for example you could put Joe Blows Server Or JBS for the new name whatever you like.
Gateway: has to be as is. (as far as I know.)
Port number: Although ther are several port numbers to use I have found that this number (80) is what actually made everything work.
Server address: has to be as is. (as far as I know.)
Connect via: whatever connections you have to connect to the internet you should have mms connect the same way.
Sending size limitation: 250k is the maximum. (If there is any way of getting mor plese let me know.)
WAP Version: I dont know the difference between WAP 1.2 and 2.0 except 2.0 sounds better.
Also under prefernces i have.
Retrieve messages imediately-checked
Download on home network only-not checked
Save sent messages-checked
Regect all messages-not checked
Allow delivery report-checked
Allow read report-not checked
Attempts before giving up-4
Photo Resolution-Origional
The only setting that I would think of be crucial is download on home network only. (for cost reasons. depending on plan. I guess.)
Other than that just make sure the little red arrow is on the server that you just configured or created and you should be set to go. if any one finds any of this info false please feel free to comment, otherwise this is what I have found to work on my htc tytn here in the usa on cingular and cingular UMTS. GOOD LUCK.....
correct, should be port 80, thats what mine is, and my max sending limit is 600...
here is another thought, why not extract the cab from the cingular extended rom that installs the MMS settings?
you also need to go thru the Cingular proxy server. set up the proxy server under Settings->Connections->Edit My Proxy Server for the connection you are using. under Advanced change HTTP to wireless.cingular.com also make WAP & Secure WAP 66.209.11.61 (leave the ports as they are).
The settings from Cingular website (https://www.cingular.com/support/deviceTutorials.do) is correct. However, I made 1 tweak:
In the "Connect via:" box, I put "My Work".
I created an additional entry in the "My Work Netwokr" (Start -> Settings -> Connections -> Connections) and put wap.cingular as the APN.
This way, when an MMS need to be sent or downloaded, the device will drop the 3G / GPRS connection and connect via the MMS setting. Afterwards, it'll connect back to the 3G / GPRS connection.
mine does that with the default setup, i stay on my isp, but if i send or recieve it automatically drops the connection and connects via media net, once its done it goes back to my isp

setting up mms for suncom on tytn and changing the port settings

I read a previous post concerning this but I still need some help.
I am trying to get my MMS settings to work with suncom's service, here is my problem i think?
Suncom uses port 9201 and WAP 2.0 - when i set to port 9201 i get a default of WAP 1.2 and when I set to WAP 2.0 I get a default port of 8799.
Can someone please tell me how to change the port settings on the Hermes running WM5....I also have the same issue with an S710 running WM6.
Thanks in advance for your help.
changing the port settings on TyTn
I still have not figured out how to change the port settings but I did get MMS to work after much trial and error.
I hope this helps anyone that is working on this.
the settings that i haqve gotten to work after much trial and error are as follows.
make a new connection called "internet"
Cellular line GPRS
access point name: mobileinternet
user name, password, and domain are blank
and thats it.
MMS settings are:
create a server i called it suncom mms
gateway: 66.150.33.115
port:9201
server address: http://mms.suncom.net:8088/mms
connect via: i set to my isp (im not sure if this matters but it is working)
wap version: WAP 1.2
The wap version and port number are fixed on my phone. I have found that the port number is more inportant than the wap version.
I hope this helps.

T-Mobile USA MMS & XM6r3

I have a T-Mo USA MDA with XM6r3. I am not receiving any MMS messages. If I try a send and receive in the MMS messages inbox I get an error synching. Regardless of whether it is supposed to sync or not, I am not getting any MMS messages.
This is what I have setup;
Gateway - 216.155.165.50
Port - 9201
Server address - http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms
Connect via - T-Mobile MMS (other choices are My work, my isp, work, secure wap, the wap, the internet)
Sending Size Limitations - 300K
Wap Version - 2.0 (1.2 also available)
Does this sound right? Anything else I should be doing?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
This is what I use.
Gateway - 216.155.165.50
Port - 8080
Server address - http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms
Connect via - The Internet
Sending Size Limitations - 300K
Wap Version - 2.0
Thanks. I have also tried 8080 and a few others without any success. Anything else?

Download network wizard and copy cab file to phone. Delete all current connection settings including MMS settings and then install Network Wizard and run it. Select USA as the country and T-Mobile as your carrier and it will automatically configure it all for you and it will work afterwards. What it does is automatically downloads your settings from the network for a painless setup.
Do you have any internet plan?
had the same problem as you and found out that my internet settings were wrong. Once I put in the correct info, everything was working fine.
I use the 5.99 plan proxy.
