There are several app's outthere doing this for you, giving you the possiblity to deside what you see and what you don't
Here : http://www.sbsh.net/products/ilauncher/
and these gives you full control, but you'll need them both :

Hope this helps

FoxFire: check out an app called PHM Tray Launch, or my own VJTrayLaunch on my website. Mine has limitations, but for one or two icons you should be fine.

Remove System Tray From Today Screen

Hi,
Does anybody know how I can get rid of the system tray from my XDA Exec's Today Screen?
I have read in other posts about removing the link to it from the "/windows/startup" folder, but there is no such link on my device.
Is there a way of doing it through modifying a registry key or something?
Any help greatly appreciated,
Thankyou,
Paul.
To remove the system tray you need to remove the items in it. If you remove them all the tray will dissapear. The registry keys you need to change are detailed in the wiki.
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Universal_Registry
Many thanks for the speedy reply DanT, that is exactly what I needed.
Now, does anybody know how to stop Pocket Informant putting an icon in the system tray (and thereby making the system tray visible again) when it is running?
Cheers, Paul.
This is EXACTLY what I am trying to find out about the Pocket Informant Icon. I hate the taskbar. Anyone? Thanks
The system tray will show running services that elect to display an icon. Pocket Informant registers as a service, rather than a program. The same is true for applications like TomTom or iGO.
The only thing you can do is not run Pocket nformant.
So PI Doesn't let you disable the icon? This really sucks...
Of course it does.
Settings:
Either Full list
- or -
Interface (second icon) - Advanced
Enable System Tray Icon
I'm using 2005, Rev 5, Build 568.
GREAT Find. It works and the PI Tray icon is no longer there! Thanks a bunch!!
I remember Vijay created an app that actually hides the TOP and BOTTOM taskbar for our Universal, so we don't have to remove any of the icons on the BOTTOM taskbar to make it disappear, thus making our screens bigger. Here is a link to that thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/vie...postorder=asc&highlight=alpha+togle&start=200
I tried downloading it from this post, but it seemed he took it off. Anyway I was wondering if anyone still have it?
cktlcmd: apologies, I never removed the link, but moved from a Windows server to a linux server some time back, and now all urls are case sensitve. Generally, if you find any broken links from me, just convert to lower case and it should be fine.
http://www.vijay555.com/vj/releases/vjtoggletodayii/vjtoggletodayiialpha0.1.5.exe
VJToggleToday II (for WM5) doesn't hide the tray yet. I've not had time to work on it for a while (new baby, move house, go to Modaco last weekend, find new job etc), but hopefully I'll be able to make some progress on it again, finally.

Thanks Vijay. So this file will not work on the Exec then?
VJToggleToday II (alpha) is for WM5 only. Specifically made for my universal (exec), but works on all WM5.
VJToggleToday I is WM2003 only.
The final version of VJToggleToday II will be cross compatible.

How can I hide HandyMenu icon on the taskbar?

:?: :?: :?: How can I hide HandyMenu icon on the taskbar? :?: :?: :?:
I tried deleting the shortcut icon from the Start Up folder, but that only takes the icon off the taskbar temporarily. As soon as I activate HandyMenu using my assigned hardware button, the HandyMenu taskbar icon comes back. I was wondering whether someone had already found the registry tweak for this.
I already searched the WiKi pages and I tried searching for it myself but still no luck on my part. Any suggestions are appreciated.
Is this what you need or something else? In handy menu: Opt - display - hide tray icon.

YES! Ohhhhhh! Now I felt stupid I asked the question.
You saved me a hard reset. Wheeeewwwww! I guessed I should have looked for a lot simplier answer. I was using PHM Registry editor for something to change and could not find it. Thanks again.
If you are looking for saving real estate on display, you might want to try VJ's toggletool as well here... pretty good.

Thanks. I do have a few question. What happens if I don't have any icon on the taskbar? Does that mean I just hide the "Calendar" and "Contacts"? Plus, on my readings, Vijay said he is going to release an update. What is the current version, is it 1.5?
Yes, the latest version is 1.5. I removed all icons on my tray. The space is now freed up and the plug-in text can now flow down to utilize the tray area. Pretty cool.
Both or either the top and bottom bars can be hidden depending on your wish... and you can just select value 1 (hidden, not zero as the softkeyboard will pop up) or 26 to show the full bar. Details are in the thread. VJ did an excellent job.

Power icon
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\Power]
"ShowIcon"=dword:00000000
Rotation icon
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\GDI\Rotation]
"EnableTray"=dword:00000000
And wireless icon
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\WirelessMgr]
"Keep"=dword:00000000
Use WIKI and search

Dang, it's busted for me.
I get a DirectoryNotFoundException when I launch it and I can't seem to find the reason for it.
Worked nicely for me, thanks!
It also works nicely for me. However, I am looking for a way to disable the System Tray and so far, nothing. Have tried most of the reg hacks mentioned here and run into a brick wall as my Dell Axim x51v doesn´t have those reg entries (?!?!?!)
All I want to do is remove the WiFi & BT icons so that the system tray will close. Any ideas folks?
That is because your device uses different drivers for it. However it should not be too hard to find the correct registry entries for your device. Try playing with entries in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\ dir.
Thanks Wexx. Even with the extended ROM visible I only get as far as "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\" before I lose my way. What really *isses me off is that I HAD managed it a while back but cant for the life of me remember how!!!!
Anyway, thanks!

Remove icons on Today Screen

I am looking to see if anyone knows how to remove the icons on the Today Screen... I'm talking about the small icons in the bottom right corner just above the "contacts" bar... It's not an option in the today screen settings and I freakin hate them.
Thanks.
Remove the Tray Icon from Today Screen:
Registry: \HKLM\init\
Key: Launch92
Action: DELETE
Note: If you want to keep some but not all of the icons:
Registry: HKLM\Software\HTC\TrayApplet
There you'll find listings for each icon (the folders are for the WinWap, MyFaves, and CommManager tray icons). Remove the ones you don't want and soft reset. If you remove the music player settings, you will then have to uncheck the plug-in from Today items.
this was one of the first things i found out about right here on xda. you can almost always find what your looking for with the search feature. Remember if you dont find it at first try to change your wording.
I tried MANY different wordings. This is pretty much the only forum where I truly have a tough time finding what I need..
I take it I need registry software to make this one work
God I'm so glad to see those worthless icons gone! Bloody brilliant, removing the contacts bar and those stupid tray icons... my home plug and today items line up PERFECTLY without needing a scrollbar!!! SWEET!
Thanks for your help.
Any other registry tweaks that could be helpful you think??

Bluetooth Toggle As Today Plugin

Is there any application that makes putting bluetooth toggle as today plugin possible in WM5 ????
Please Help !!!
Maybe Like This One -->
Thanks in advance
download and install batterystatus. Very easy to find as it is all over this forum. Go to the options and select the Tray Launch Tab. You will be able to add bluetooth,wi-fi,phone, as well as many other options to the tray at the bottom of your screen.
this should work
found this somewhere, i have it installed and it works good.doesnt take up much space either.
As an alternative, Vijay codes up a bunch of really handle utilities, and one (VJvolubilis http://www.vijay555.com/?Releases:VJVolubilis) can toggle BT. Then all you need is a today screen shortcut to his prog with the right suffix. cLaunch should do it if you want it on the today screen instead of the tray, or even create a drop-down menu controlled by a hard key with something like WM5NewMenu. All these are free, but I'm sure the developers would love a donation!
Theres a registry hack on ppcgeeks that enables that and wifi on your today screen if I find it i'll post it
BT on today-you find it???

I have been searching for this for a while now. I have started using phone weaver and turned everything else off but BT. See cab and thumbnail. In thumbnail look in bottom right corner of today screen for activated BT! I would like this to happen without running Phone weaver, seems to take up a little more memory than I would like for this type of app, but it works great and I am happy with it. Just what I wanted, if I could actually get rid of the few little icons to the left of the BT I would be VERY happy thats my main gripe here...
Cheers!

ciclebt.cab.... and assigne to hardware button. or use as app via applauncher programs.
You can use btIO-mini (see attached file). In this zip there are 2 files.
I made this for 2 reasons. The first is to have a quick toggle via HTC Home integration, and the second ist to be able to turn on/off BT via voice command.
1. bluetooth.lnk -> put this in your \windows\startmenu\program files\ folder
2. btIO-mini.exe put this in \program files\btIO\
3. Make a shortcut from your favorite launcher today-plugin to btIO-mini.exe
Make a softreset, after that you can use voice command to turn on/off bluetooth.
There is no visible indication, like pop-up or message box that tells you which state BT is. The program just looks in which state BT is and if it's off it turns BT on in connectable (invisible) mode, and if it's on it simly turns BT off and exits.
So this is not exactly what you asked since it is not a today plugin but maybe it will help you.
Cheers
EDIT: Be warned! The program icon is ****ing ugly. Will have to find a better one...
Thank you guys for your response ....
But I'm asking about the plugin in the attached picture ...
thank u again ..
