As a frequent user of Citrix GoToMyPC. Both in the PC variant and the PocketView variant I was a bit disgruntled to find out it doesn't work on my o2 Exec.
The pocketview .exe downloads but cannot be run. In addition when attempting to use the java version I can't due to not having java installed on my handset.
Any ideas ?

HowlingWolf
aye but GoToMyPC requires a full java install to run in full mode as the PocketView PPC .exe won't run.
Nice try!
logmein.com works fine on my Jasjar

This is my first post and I have looked around but it seems no one has the same problem with me or I could miss something.
I just got a MDA compact from T-Mobile UK. I wanted to install some applications but I can only use .CAB files. When I tried to execute a .exe file it says "'file_name' is not a valid Pocket PC application". After that I found out my MDA using Pocket PC platform.
Question is how I can use those .exe files. Would upgrading ROM help?
If they are the correct .exe programs for Pocket PC 2003 SE then I believe they can be installed via ActiveSync.
Someone correct me if i'm wrong.

Click to collapse
By far the most .exe files you can download from the Internet for a PocketPC are actually installers that need to be run on your desktop PC, not on the PocketPC itself. Make sure your PocketPC is connected to your PC and ActiveSync is running, then try starting these .exe on your PC.
If your desktop machine is a Mac or any other non-Windows PC, you are out of luck basically - then you need to ask someone with a Windows PC to run these .exe for you, grab the extracted .cab from some temporary directory, and give those to you.
Cheers
Daniel
Just for the sake of completeness, you cannot install Smartphone software on a Pocket PC, despite the similarly-named OS
misunderstanding
so far that I know, exe can only be executed on the desktop pc. while cab files u can executed it in ur pocket pc.
Omg...I'm so dumb...
Thanks a bunch guys
Hope someone can help me with this. I am developing an application using VB.net and I have two problems.
1. When I copy the .exe file to my SX66 and try to run it nothing happens. I can see a wait cursor appear briefly and it seems to be starting but nothing happens after that (no error messages even). I have seen the same problem with other VB.net apps I have tried to use that others created.
I have the latest .Net Compact framework installed. The app works fine on a Toshiba Pocket PC I have with the older verison of Pocket PC 2003.
2. When I try to run the app directly from VB.net VB.net doesn't recognize that there is a device connected and won't copy the .exe from my desktop to my SX66. This works fine with the Toshiba Pocket PC too.
is your sx66 connected to activeSync ?
Does it run on your Emulator?
Yes on activesync
I haven't tried the emulator. As I said it works fine on a Toshiba PPC so I am figuring it will work in the emulator. I am pretty sure it is something on the SX66 because I have seen the same problem with other .NET apps that I have tried to use that were created by someone else.
is the debug manager service running?
Thank's Before...
i need some help...
may be forum can help me how to install net.framework 2 to wm2005 (XDA Zinc).
i hope yours......
First, download the file from Microsoft's site to your desktop.
Then, connect your device to the desktop via the sync cable. Double-click on the installation file on the desktop to begin the installation. It will begin installing to your device through the ActiveSync connection.
I've found that it will work either from the device or the storage card. However -- for "core components" such as this, I prefer installing to the device.
*because this is in the development section*
An easier way is to just deploy a .net project to the device using vis studio 2005. It will automatically install cf 2.0
There is a 100% legal way to test how will perform a given application created for WM5 or previous releases into WM6 without the need of upgrading the Athena ROM.
I needed this to test a push-mail application developed for WM5. My idea is changing my X7500 to WM6 if and only if the push-mail application I'm considering works on WM6. Since taking the X7500 back to WM5 once you changed it to WM6 looks impossible I look for a solution to test before take the decision.
So... I found that WM6 emulator from Microsoft is free and freely available and emulator images are free too and freely available at microsoft.com
You will need:
Microsoft Device Emulator 2.0, which is the emulator itself. This program does nothing without the emulator images but you need the program, off course. Here is the link:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...53-f231-4a64-a648-fea5e7061303&DisplayLang=en
Then you need the emulator images... let's call them ROMs if you want... but they call'em emulator images.
Windows Mobile 6 Localized Emulator Images, just donwload the ones in your language. I suggest using the profesional ones since in that set there is one called VGA Professional that match the features of our X7500. Here is the link to all languages:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...a8-1dd7-426f-a913-4f370a65a582&DisplayLang=en
Just donwload and install the Device Emulator 2.0 (the first link I mention) and once installed donwload and install the profesional emulator images in your language.
Find the entry VGA Profesional in your Start menu in Windows XP and just install the application you want to test in your emulator.
Simple.
