I've already sussed the simplistic method of allocating various ringtones for different contacts and importing my own .mp3 efforts in but how exactly can I import my own noises for the following:
* Alarms
* SMS etc Notifications ?
* Reminders.
Any ideas ?

Um- sms etc. notifications and reminders are all set in the control panel... is this what you meant?
yeah i was wondering that, you can change the ringtones, but i dont think you can add your own for notifications, so you'll have to stick the ones that acme it... :x
That is bone.
None of the alarm sounds are capable of waking anyone up! The thing is SPB Time can import sounds to be used as notifications / alarms so I figured there must be a reasonable work-around.
You can use your own but only in wav format and they must be placed in the windows directory on the device, so dont put to many or make them to big as they eat in to your precious program memory.
Once you have copied to the directory, they will show up in the standard dialog for changing notifications.

Yeah that's quite annoying and should do the trick awakening me from my nightly work induced coma!

Hello,
I am new on Windows Mobile, coming from Nokia 9500, so I feel a little bit stupid, because maybe I did something wrong.
So when I set a reminder in the calendar I hear nothing any more, neither a notification... abslutely nothing.
The reminders on Outlook on the PC just work normally on the same appointments.
Settings:
[email protected]:
Events : on ---- Programs + Notifications : on
Screen taps and hardware buttons :| off
Tab notifications, Event: reminders: Plays sound : on Alarm1
Dislplay message on screen and flashlight both are on
I did a soft reset, and I played a little bit with different sounds when the problem seemed to have begun.
When the PC however does the alarm it nicely switches the alarm off in the Jasjar.
My phone is quite useless without a calendar warning.
Huib
My Jasjar becomes quite useless without an agenda that warns
Nobody has a clue?
I can set the agenda but nothing happens. The time just passes but no warnings whatsoever.

Oh hell, sounds like the alarm bug may be making an appearance on WM5...that would be DISASTEROUS.
Do this for us; download trial version of Pocket Mechanic (www.antontomov.com) and go to the notifications queue module. Click the button marked "Dup" or "duplicates" and tell us if it found any dups, and if so what they are (they will be tagged and yellow).
Just in case it's a stupidly simple thing, check the following;
- Can u play the alarm1.wav file from file explorer?
- Are you DEFINITELY setting a reminder for each agenda entry
- Is this reminder set to go 0 minutes before (ie don;t set a reminder for 5 mins time with an alarm for 30 mins before)
- settings>sounds¬ifications>alarms>ticked
- Volume not 0: turn volume to 0 then back up again

I may do the antontomov later.
yes I can play alarm1.wav from file explorer.
OK: appointment duration from 16:00 till 16:05
alarm ( " reminder" it is called) 5 minutes before..
at the settings I ticked the Reminder event on play sound and repeat.
I do not see a volume option however.
I see options for flash light ( did never work) and vibration ( the same) I have the feeling it is not so much a sound problem as a problem that nothing is triggered when the moment is there.

Calendar Reminders confusing!!
I find this calendar thing pretty confusing too. I came to the conclusion that the reminder comes in the form of an on-screen notification and not an alarm, which seems pretty stupid, as you don't want to keep pulling your phone out to see if you have any appointments! :?
I hope I'm wrong, but could someone more knowledgeable in this area please clarify how to get an audible reminder in conjunction with an on-screen one please. And for the record, I know how to set a basic alarm, I just need to be reminded by sound or vibration of my appointments, else I can't get the true benefits of a personal digital assistant!
Wont modifying the "Reminders" settings in the notification tab of "Sounds and Notifications" do it for you???

I am sure it gave me an audible alarm before I ran into problems. Of course the agenda can warn you if working properly; also with a flash light even(!) or vibrato.

Well to be honest.... I have managed to get sound working on it before...I just can't remember what I did!
Please, if anyone has the time please explain how I get an alarm to ring in conjunction with the on-screen reminder. For example, when I go go into the calendar app and see the time slots for any given date, I assumed you could simply enter what you wanted reminding of, in that particular timeslot, and then choose to be reminded every 2 hours or something!!??!! I'm a bit perplexed by this. My SE700i worked in this fashion and I never got to grips with the PPC way of doing this. The bloody manual doesn't explain this either!

You're absolutely right about how to set the reminder, but the type of reminder (sound, message, vibrate) is set in Settings > Sounds & Notifications > Notifications Tab > Change Event to "Reminders" and see what the settings are? Give it a go, I'm sure you must have "Display message on screen" ticked and "Play sound" unticked?

Thanks for thinking about my problem but I checked those settings out very prcisely.
I have ticked: play sound and repeat. I also have the display message ticked. I Use Alarm1 to keep it simple.
It is however possible that here is where the problem started.
Other problem, maybe related, is, that the phone ringtone sound can sometimes change in the last installed personal ringtone.
I changed it back of course.
I have a lot of people given a ringtone with their name in it, to take away the need of opening to see who is calling.
instead of a sound I record : this is John etc etc. But of course not new to your guys.
Works great, but sometimes my phone ring changes in e.g. " peter calling" as main ring tone.
But in the calendar case there is not even a reminder on the screen. The phone is just no triggering at all.

Oh....baffled then. Sorry!

SOunds like hard-reset time dudes!
Just in case you think it's a missing feature that you have to live with, it's not: the calendar DOES alarm for every reminder, provided you set that. You get an on-screen notification and sound - depending on your settings. Further, this can be defaulted so that every new appointment does this without you having to think about it. Exactly the same as all previous PPC devices.
I had the same problem.
Hard reset is the only solution...
Be carefull what s/w you install on Jasjar!

This will be my first reset in Windows world ever.
Any tips and hints what to take care of before pushing the button?
I come from Nokia 9200 and up and there was a great backup facility before you hard reset.
As backup software is not available: Any tips and hints on what to write down before I do it?
I also saw that Windows may come with separate upgrade software.

The only s/w i had was the ewallet.
Get rid of it and reset. Now try if it works.

You meant soft reset or hard reset?
I presume hard reset, because after several soft resets without ewallet I still have the problem.

See 'Help' application for Reminders in Calendar!!
Stupid me! There's an in depth guide on hoe to use the calendar with Reminders in the 'Help' application on the Jasjar. Too many options for my liking, just confusing matters. basically, alot of the options are for syncing purposes and if no else has access to your PC, it really won't matter wether you set-up categories or not, unless you need your contacts etc grouped.
Bottom line, buy an easier to use application.
Alarm bug? What's that?
Some time ago I installed and played a NES emulator on my xda for a few hours wearing the headset, and after that two things happened; Sound didn't work, it got permanently stuck on headset mode (I fixed that) and 2), the clock disappeared from the upper menu bar, never to return. Alarms didn't work (at all) from that point either. Prior to this it had worked 90% of the time, with some mysterious exceptions that I think maybe your "alarm bug" could explain.
Hi all,
I need help, I can't change ringtone for my alarm. there is a software to install or I must put my song in a personal directory on my trinity?
Bye all
To add different alarms they need to be .wav files. Place the file in the folder /windows
To change an alarm go to Start - Setting - System - Clock & Alarms; Click on the small alarm icon - then change the alarm.
To change the reminder sound in your calander go to Start - Settings - Sounds and Notifications - Notifications; and in the event box find reminder and set it as you require.

well done, you just replied to a question in a thread with no activity since 1,5 years. Also the reply has nothing to do with the original question

Yes, that's right, I don't even get a notification or a sound from my calendar when an appointment is due...
I don't know why this has happened, but I suspect I've done something in the registry...
I do get notifications and sounds when I for example receive a SMS, It's just the calendar that won't work...
Please help me asap
And I have also already checked the control panel, and there I have enabled sounds for notifications/calendar
Im not an expert but have the sound files corrupted or something along those lines? If you have your SMS sound working, have you tried assigning that sound to the one that doesn't work and seeing if it works?
Can't be much more help other than doing a hard reset if the above isn't any help.

Yes, I've tried that, but it's not working anyway... I now have it set to my SMS-sound, but no 'pling' on my appointments from my calendar...
and no notification either...
Same for me.
Notifications' sound has disappeared some weeks ago. Probably something I've installed.
At the moment on my phone I have very few applications, here they are:
- Advanced Config
- Beyond pod
- Facebook panel
- Mort player
- pocket player
- S2U2
- SmartPhone Tracker
- YouTube panel
Could you please check if we have some apps in common? Probably the problem is due to one of these.

Of these I only use YouTube panel and Facebook panel (don't use that one).
Did you check under sounds and notifications if you're sounds are still selected there? Did you change their location?
Hope your phone is not mute in any way...
Sorry, I have no other idea...
look at the options of the calender... (extras->options...)
I have the same problem. I do have an sms sound, but no incoming call sound or a notification from the outlook calendar. When i try and select any sound for incoming calls in the sound and notifications menu it plays perfectly. When I get an incoming call there is no sound at all. I also tried to change the settings to ring only, but nothing...
Programs I have installed:
Xperia tweak
TomTom 7
SecureW2
G-Alarm (but it was before I installed this)
Sony Pictures player (hmmm, this might be the one)
Modaco NoData
Total Commander
Hi All,
Had my Desire for a couple of days now and I am well pleased. Except,
I would like to find a simple Alarm Clock app that supports
MP3 as sound
Vibrate
Snooze
And a way to turn it off
Basically, you all remember the old radio Alarm clocks everyone had, You set your time, you set your radiostation and you fell asleep.
It had a MASSIVE snooze button on top and an off button on the side.
That's what I want.
I've tried looking through market but 8 of 10 have a review saying "Does not ring at all" and well. If I see that in a review it's out straight away.
Thank yuo kindly for any help given.
the built in alarm allows snooze and vibrate as well as turning it off - not worked out how to get it to link into mp3 yet like you could on the G1

GOT IT!
If I set any of my MP3s as a ringtone it then comes up in the list of choosable music in the standard alarm as well....
But you need to have actually SET IT as you ringtone once first...
How about make a folder on the SD root called "alarms" and put mp3's in that? This is my first Android phone and even i figured that one out lol.
Just make folders like these.
Ringtones:
/sdcard/media/audio/ringtones
SMS Alerts:
/sdcard/media/audio/notifications
Alarm Alerts:
/sdcard/media/audio/alarms
Or they can be on the SD cards root like mine.
How did you manage to work out that??
Are there any apps similar to G-Alarm on Windows Phone?
Ie with multiple alarms, random mp3, weather, calculation/maze tasks, tilt/shake sensor, speech, etc.
More info here: http://www.ageye.de/index.php?s=galarm/about
I've found the alarm exact u are finding, just search Alarming at Market. I'm quite satisfied with it. Shake to snooze feature I most like

you don;t need the \media\audio\ at the start.
just shove the ringtones, notifications and alarms folders in the root of the card.
hi everybody. I ve found a lot of alarm apps on the market, but none could wake up my phone and thus me then .
Q: is there any timer-application that is able to turn the phone on -for alarm purposes while it is off, when i sleep ?
if there would be any app of this self-turn on in a specified time of a day, that would solve my buzzer problems.
sorry for that noobish question I am new using smartphone.
I'm looking for an alarm program that chooses randomly in an mp3 folder for the alarm.
I couldn't find anything like this for the moment.
This is an odd one. HTC's answer is to do a hard reset but if there is a reg entry or something I would rather try that first.
I have an alarm set with a sound I have placed in the windows directory. That works fine...
But when the alarm triggers it plays my default alert sound almost at the same time as my preferred alarm sound.
Has anyone come across that before?
Cheers
Rus
Yes mine does this - it plays an Alert sound right before the alarm tone rings, i think it's my text message alert sound..
It's not really an issue i guess just a 'quirk' ... doesnt bother me in the slightest..
i saw this on the stock ROM, and there are still quirks to the alarms in later winmo builds.
if you set an alarm from the home screen, i.e. the htc alarm, then go to all settings clocks and alarms alarms tab, you will see the sound changes aren't always carried over.
it doesn't do the dual sound on the later builds, but the settings pages still don't match.
Dual Alarm Sounds
Does no one know if there is a reg hack to cure this?
Having just got my phone set up the way i like it, I dont really want to have to load a new ROM just yet!
I was annoyed by this as well. For me it worked to disable the first entry in settings -> sound+display -> notification sounds. I don't know the exact term on english ROMs but I hope you get what I mean. It's where you set the sound for incoming mails and messages.
