i've installed sunnysoft backup manager 3.7 on my qtek 9100 (htc wizard) unit...this is the only program that works with wm5 as i read in forum topics...but...with schedule backup my qtek doesn't wake up for making backup
For example if i decide to leave my unit in standby mode at night and i want it make a backup while i'm sleeping...i can't.
this happens with daily backup but i suppose it happens also with other shedule backup options...
help me please if someone have a solution or an alternative backup program.... with my old magician and sprite backup everything worked fine
sorry for my english
I'm having a similar problem, my automated backup will start, but it won't back up anything. I have emailed their tech support twice and am still waiting for an answer.
i'm waiting good news too
There is a new build posted on their website, it has solved my problems. Before you load the new build you need to uninstall the old one, i had to do it manually, this is what i got from Sunnysoft:
For a manual uninstall of Sunnysoft Backup Manager please remove the following files and registry entries.
Files:

\windows\startup\BkpMgrDeleter.exe
\windows\BackMan.exe
\windows\UptimeCounter.exe
\windows\bkpmgr.exe

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Sunnysoft\Backup Manager\*

thank you for the tip...do you know the new release number? i can't find it...do you think it solve my problem too? your device wake up automatically before backup starts? thank you
It's still version 3.7 but it has a different build number. Won't know until tomorrow if it wakes up my KJam
i tested the last version yesterday, and it's ok
i have 3.7 (build 12091) version and my qtek 9100 doesn't wake up when in standby mode...everything seems to be right...incoming calls arrives...appointments wake up phone and so on.
only when i wake up manually my qtek pushing turn on button backup starts...:-(((((((((((

can someone please help me to get sprite back up v3 to work on my xda2. my aim is to backup my device to my PC. it either freezez my xda2 or hard resets it!!!
thanks a lot
Only after I bought Sprite 3.0 I found out it doesn't work properly. In my case, V3.0 erased my SMS after a restore! Solution? According to Sprite SOftware, they working on it. In the meantime, this is what I did:
For the first Backup
- Make an executable (.exe) backup file and save it to Storage (permanent storage on your XDAII). It will be a slightly bigger file
- BEFORE you run the back up (UNselect e-mail option and click on the (+) sign next to System Data, then again on (+) File System and again on (+) Prgogram Files.
- UNselect Arcsoft box
- Then run the backup. You need to do the executable file only once
For daily backups, save them to a storage card.
- BEFORE you run the back up (UNselect e-mail opetion and click on the (+) sign next to System Data, then again on (+) File System and again on (+) Program Files.
- UNselect Arcsoft box
- Then run the backup.
To Restore
- Run the executable backup file first
- Then do a soft reset
- Run Sprite and restore form your last daily backup file
It anly sound akward, but it worked for me!
PS: You will loose your e-mail account settings and all its folders' contents. But I found that I could live with this. It's better than having to reinstall all software to your XDAII again!
..like walking on thin ice!
hey michael..thanks for the details.. but sprite backup seems to hate xda2..
is there a way to back up to pc with this workaround? can i use the same approach but pc as the destination?
any news when sprite will release the new version?
anyone knows of another backup sw that backs up xda2 to PC?
thanks

I hate to be arguementative - but I am using Sprite Pocket Backup v.3 with my imate and it is working perfectly. It even restores my SMS!
Are you sure you are not using ver. 2.X which did have the SMS restore problem?
I've tried with my xdaII , the sms inbox was restored OK, but I have some problem after the backup restored. I never received SMS anymore.
don't know why....
so I never used it again.
i'm using imate with rom 1.72 and sprite backup v3
Hey Brian
Can u please give details about yr device, e.g rom etc. and installed applications.. i never got to to work on the imate. please give some details on if u were able to backup to pc?
anybody know of any program that backs up imate to pc?
thanks

On my MDA2 SpriteBackup crashes! (automatic backup timed at 23:55 everyday) Looks like some file is in use and Sprite is not able to backitup and the whole backup process is stopped. So on my MDA2 backup has NEVER finished!
I'm using backup in ActiveSync - I have it set to automatic mode - everytime I put my MDA2 into the cradle, it synchronizes with outlook and then does FULL BACKUP.
And I'm sure this kind of backup works well - I restored my MDA many times after hardreset from ActiveSync's backup and everything was always OK.
hawk -
Your second question first - Of course you know that ActiveSync can backup your PPC to your PC (Tools -> Backup/Restore). Also, Sprite Backup ver.3 can backup to your PC as well - it can install a tool in your system tray to run the Sprite Backup PC Service.
I had version 2.X of Sprite Backup and experienced the SMS service failing to receive messages after a restore. With ver. 3.0.0 I have actually restored my imate after an unintentional HR and SMS worked perfectly thereafter.
Now, for my configuration:
imate with ROM Ver. 1.72.00WWE
1GB SD card
VITO Voice Dialer
PHM Registry Editor
MS PocketStreets
m-possible Backgammon
HP Mobile Printing
Zendrui PocketZenPhone
Syntact GameBox
Sprite Software Sprite Backup
Sprite Software Space Detective
Sprite Software PocketMon
Spb Pocket Plus
Mobimate WorldMate Pro
MS Cubicle Chaos
Laridian Pocket Bible (with 10 Bible translations)
Laridian Daily Reader
Illium Software eWallet
Total Commander
Adobe Acrobat Reader 1.0
A.Khogo tAgenda
SSnap
IDiff
I also have the drivers for the Stowaway keyboard installed.
It's pretty well loaded!

What version? I'm using spritet 3 v1517 without issue. Email and SMS restore correctly. The only conflict I've found is using GPRS monitor.
I had the same problem with the earlier versions of Sprite Backup too. After restoration, my XDA will have a complete blackout on SMSs. So i have decided not to install it again.
BRosenow, is your Vito Voice Dialer the PE version? I can't seem to get the non-PE version to work tho.

Yes, it is Voice Dialer PE v3.0.
Sprite Backup
I'm using it with my XDA II and no problem. I restores everything as it was. Using Sprite Backup V3.0.0 build 1517.
I don't backup to my PC but to a SD card.
Regards,
Mark
whats the reason to backup to a pc using something like Sprite
over just using activesync's pc backup restore option ?
i understand the sd card backup but not why people use it on pc's
If I'm not wrong ActiveSync backup from PC gives problems with restore after a ROM upgrade.
Maybe that's the reason. I agree with you. It has no additional value.
Mark
I use Sprite to backup my imate to my laptop from time-to-time, just in case something were to happen to my SD backup (loose the SD card, backup files become corrupted, etc.). Considering the little time and storage space it takes, what's the harm in having a little insurance?
And I use the Sprite backup to PC because it takes about 2 min. for a full backup . . . can ActiveSync do that?
nah
with ms you get what you pay for since activesync is free is slow can be
a full backup prob take about 15->30min
i prefer to use the same program 1. to backup to sd card & pc for compatiblity reasons in order to exchange files if needed, 2. sprite does exe files 3. activesync may not restore to a newer rom properly.
the funny thing is some people are using sprite with no problem, others like me are just going thru hell to make it work.
on sprite's support they mention something about stopping some processes in windows\startup\
tried that too, didn't work.
can anyone diagnose the problem with the inconsistency of the results from one person to the other and definite solution?
Hawk
Maybe the ROM version that differs! Sprite Backup works for me fine. See my ROM version below with my signature.
My startup folder contains:
AFlashman, BTTrayCE, CFlashMan, CheckAutorun, ChgDFLnk, IA_Caller_ID, MMREG, NFlashMan, poutlook, stk, Symantec Antivirus, TFlashMan

Well . . . you need to be VERY selective of which files you restore after a ROM upgrade anyway. You cannot do a full restore (from a full backup) after a ROM upgrade, because .exe and .dll files (and others) will be restored, replacing the newer versions. This leaves the device in a state that is somewhere between the two ROM versions and will cause all sorts of problems.
You should only restore documents, email and personal databases - not system data.
I need help my JAM stops to receive sms . I have try with 2 different rom versions (ma_cdlsku1_wwe_10300_143_10100_ship)& (ma_cdlsku12_wwe_10300_163_10100_ship) but the Hard Reset is the only solution.
The bad news are the recover (before & after the hard reset) not fix the problem .
Any help to recover my system or fix the [email protected] problem..
I have try all the backup software exept the new spb clone.
Thanks in advance …
Make sure that - if you're using Spb Pocket Plus - you add the SMS program to Exceptions under the Close button menu.

i dont have install it !!
mine does it too while in a game it comes up with the timer windows thing in the sqaure box till the txt is received so its not really a problem
The problem is Sprite Backup and that you have an old version at least older than 3.1.3! Older versions of Sprite Backup cause that problem after a restore! Try the latest versiom 3.1.4
nowt to do with that its just how the phone works as i dont even use prite backup
I had the same problem.
Finally I found out that the reason was ActiveSync.
To be sure try hard reset and then choose backup everything but sms folder (or even e-mail folder). And to get rid of that problem in ActiveSync settings mark not to syncronize e-mail (or something like that).
Hi,
I needed some help,
The reminder on my Wizard quite working since yesterday, NO SOUND NO VIBRATE, NO LIGHTS...etc
Can someone please help???
Thanks
cifp48
No tips yet???
Had the same problem. Sorry, couldn't solve it. Did a hard reset and now it works fine again. But of course that's not ideal...
Thanks for the reply.
did U backup your data before doing a hard reset??? How did U backup??
Thanks
Sprite Backup
I first made a backup with SPB backup. Then I only restored the contacts, not the programs (I tried that first, but then I ended up with the same problem). Obviously some program caused the reminders to stop, but I still haven't figured out which one.
One small good thing: after a hard reset and all programms installed again your device is markedly faster (for a while). Also an opportunity to upgrade the rom?
Thanks.
What ROM do U recommend?? what are the changes?? WHats the latest ROM????
gees, thats lots of Qs in 1!!!
I had same problem, but successfully solved it.
1. Clear all "calendar.exe" events in a notificatation queue with MemMaid.
2. Drop all events in a calendar folder of Outlook on desktop PC.
3. Sync with Wizard, disconnect.
4. Restore events from "deleted" folder.
5. Sync again.
Good to see that it can be solved. Hope I can find it back when it happens again.
About a new ROM: CID and SIM unlock your device and download one of the latest Qtek or Imate roms. Go to the wizard upgrading forum, or type keywords like 'rom and upgrade' in the search function of the forum on top of this webpage. The you'll get more than enough tips and tricks.
Good luck!
Hello!
I have Jasjar 2.01.08 Wm6 ROM and since I upgraded to Wm6 ,Scheduled backup doesnt work. I have scheduled everyday at 6AM to backup but it doesnt do the job, never did!
I go to see the log and there's nothing there, seams that it simply doesnt even start.
Can you help me? Does anyone has SPB scheduled backup working with this ROM (Wm6)?
Does Sprite backup work with Wm6? The scheduled backup? Can you keep only 2 or 3 files on SD? I had problems with that, when using it on Wm5, didnt replace old files!
Deiota
I raised this one a few days ago too but didn't get a response.
Perhaps no one knows.
I've gone back to WM5 as it was critical for me. I'll soon swap back though if someone can solve this one.
Yup Sprite Backup 5.1 is compatible on WM6 PPCs, 5.2 for WM6 SPs. Scheduled Backup and File management work fine aswell, so yes you can set the max amount of images to 3 and the latest will replace the oldest, you can also specify the max amount of MB to allocate to storing the backup images. SPB backup have a known issue with their file management not working correctly for certain devices
Hi,
I just flashed my Orbit 2 with the W6.5 ROM from Alex-V. Followed the howto from
fktsndr (Thread ID: 384084). Then I restored my SMS via PIMBackup. I just chose SMS to restore. However I got weird results. The SMS have wrong date stamps, cut text, wrong mapping of SMS body text to sender. When I go to my SMS folder it seems that their is an ongoing process which adds messages. After a while the system hangs. If I reset after 10 mins. I just see the O2 Splash screen and system hangs, so I have to do a hard reset.
I' ve got around 1500 SMS. Restoring contacts and call history works fine.
I tried wm6.5 German com5 23529 alex-V (flip clock)_10.02_input 2.1.rar and wm6.5 German com5 23529 alex-V 10.02 input 2.1 lite.rar
Hope somebody can help me. Thanks in advance!
Best regards

Why you make a new thread for that problem...for things like this...my rom thread is the right place for this...!!!!
but anythere...i don´t have problems with this...but can you try install pim backup new...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=299705
Hope it help....
edit: have you flashed like this...the way you flash is very important
If you have problems after flash my rom....restart....flash Orginal rom + hard reset if you see the calibration screen after that flash my rom also with a hard reset....after a complete boot a soft reset
edit 2: in your previous rom have you threaded sms or normal ...??
edit 3: try a other backup file...and is it the same with a other file..??
Thank you for the quick answer!
I'll repeat the flashing and I will carefully follow your instructions. Hope this helps. Actually since you have the same device. I come from W6.1 (original O2 branded) where I had threaded SMS. When I try other backup files or even I use the same file again I got different results. All are weird.

mmhh..strange...so please try a reflash with the flash instructions....it´s very very important to flash this way...i have also problems if i flash any rom and make it not like the explained way...
but if the problem after flash is the same...try to reinstall pimbackup...and let me know...
edit: have tried again and restore a pim backup file...and it´s ok...no problems...
So I followed your instruction, but same result. The step where I am not sure is after I did the the hard reset after installing the original rom. You wrote I should then flash your rom. Does it matter whether I boot with original rom, connect with ActiveSync and then flash according to the instructions of the Flash Tool or shall I go into boot loader and then flash?
It all sounds strange for me. Because according to my experience with other computer stuff it either works or it doesn't. Strange behaviour like restoring half the sms on a weird way and at same time Windows, Internet, and all the tools, I tested, operating (slow) but reliable doesn't sound like a flash problem as more as an incompatibility of PIM Backup with W6.5. May be the bug occurs only with a certain number of SMS.
Problem nailed down: I figured out that I cannot restore my SMS even on the original ROM so it seems to be more a problem with a corrupted archive.
Fortunately I have a fallback with a dumped ROM respectively a Sprite Backup. Cross fingers that that works. ****y PIM Backup.

it sounds very strange for me too...because i tried myself...pim backup and it works ok for me...i try a 2. attempt with a other file...and all ok....so something is wrong on your phone...
in pim backup i take the option for add only new..to database...and after the backup process the left softkey says..exit....after that i go to sms and all is ok....
for flash...after hard reset the original rom...it boots and the calibrtion screen comes again...i flash my rom....

In my case PIMbackup is not trully wm6.5 compliant. I think it has a high peak of resources consumption so sometimes is simply gets the ppc frozen, At least in my case, the same backup file gets loaded or freezes the ppc, depending on how many things load at the same time, etc. Most of the times after a soft reset everything is there so it is not a big issue in my case.
Have you tried MyPhone? I do not use any more neither PIMBackup nor ActiveSync since I tried MyPhone ... (I resisted since windows software tends to turn my skin red!)

i use both...myphone is nice and all but you need connection...ive tested pimbackup to the max and have yet found any issue...currently it restores more than 300 contacs, more than 4000 sms, plus emails, logs, history...it seems lockedup but its working...it uses alot the cpu so it may seem locked but its still working...great software...but as always use whatever works...
cheers
I have found out, that for some reasons PIM Backup is not working correctly all the time. During Backup it throws sometimes some messages, that it cannot access certain files. After that it ends normally but I cannot find the backup file anywhere.
In the end I managed somehow to restore my SMS. However I did this using Megan ROM. Therefore I restored the original system, did the backup again as plain text (not binary), had contacts and SMS in anextra file. Flashed the new ROM and restored everything. Now I am too annoyed of all the flashing, so that I won't test it with Alex's ROM again.

I tried a hell lot of ways , but finally adb pull worked for me
In Recovery mode with data mounted use the pull command
adb pull /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/mmssms.db
Try it as the last option if nothing works
