Hello all,
I'm having some problems with the CE-Star suite.. After 2 resets, the chinese text would just become SQUARES and it could only be restored by reinstalling the CE-suite program. Anyone encountered this problem before and can it be resolved? i just installed it and has yet to get it registered, is this the cause?
Previously i installed maction monster chinese and after not being able to use any input or whatsoever of that program, I tried uninstalling it but its always there! how do i get rid of it?! when i run remove programs and clicked on it, it asks me to reset my unit to completely remove it but everytime i resets it its still there! HELP!!
tried using ActiveSync to remove it but still can't!
another problem with my activesync, everytime i sync and when it reaches to sync files, it would tell me that there is a unresolved item. i checked and delete the unresolved file to see if i can bypass it but it seems that every file is unresolved?!
it recomends to restart the computer and phone then sync again and i've been having this problem even after umpteenthed reboots..
any help would be appreciated!

Which version are you using?
I got CE-Star v2.8 Beta 4 installed on my Wizard and it works fine. Chinese characters are properly displayed, some programmes like TMCP are displayed in Chinese now (which I was hoping it wouldn't btw lol) and input with PinYin works as well as drawing with your Stylus on the Touchscreen. Earlier versions of 2.8 didn't work, so give beta4 a try if you haven't yet.
i didn't buy a cestar ver 2.8 beta4. and just use a trial one. but when i wanna change the cestar back to keyboard mode. it was out of order. i don't think it's trail ver problem, it should be a bug. so i will not buy it before the final ver release.
if anyone can support a chinese rom or other way to change eng ver into chi ver, it should be the best news.

btw, it seems that v2.8R1 has been released and it seems to be more stable then the beta4. I haven't give it a try yet, will have to mail the developers about it I guess....

As I posted earlier, earlier beta releases didn't work, but beta4 did.
And it seems that R1 works fine. So What about give that info about which version you're exactly using? If you recently downloaded it, it should be R1, you might want to give beta4 a try

trial...since I'm just testing it right now for viewing Chinese characters and it seemed unstable at first.
Seems only R1 is available for download, if you need beta4 to try, give me a PM

i've tested beta4 beta3 and r1 as well, but as the results are b3 can't let me input anything except english, b4 can input once but after changing input mode it's dead. r1(from offical website) is same as b4. now i met one more problem is after i uninstall b4 and soft reset machine, the sms function lost. i can only hard reset machine. faint...... so the chinese rom looks like very important
Just wonder know, why not Maction Monster Chinese ? The v5.1 released and it work great with my kjam.

That's rather strange indeed. I Don't have this problem with beta4.
Although it is slow with switching to CE-Star keyboard :s
As for a Chinese ROM, maybe you should try and look up for the Dopod ROMS, Dopod 838.
I came across problems on Monster Chinese v5.1. I tried to add a speed dial and then in the middle of my input it just suddenly disappeared.
I am using O2 ROM on Dopod 838.
(By the way, Dopod ROM sucks, dont even try it... I tried O2 ROM and then I never want to use the original again)
i installed CE-suit, but how do you activate the input?
it said hotkey is CTRL and Shift, but i don't have CTRL. i tried the dot key, but still won't let me change the input.
So what is the latest stable CEstar for wm6? So many versions going around....and keygen doesnt work....arh....someone pls...

Hey everyone...I'm a total newbie when it comes to PPC phones...so please bare with me..
anyways..I recently bought an O2 Mini S...and I seem to be having some small problems with it..
when you press the "send" button, it should bring you automatically to the phone keypad...however this doenst seem to work all the time (or much at all...) I have to soft reset the machine to actually get it to start working...and then after 10 minutes or so...it doenst work again until i reset again...NONE of the "phone" functions work either when this happens...i cant go to the call history or get to any of those functions...even if I pull up the "programs" screen...and click on the "phone" icon, it still doesnt work...I have no idea how to fix it..
One solution i figured MIGHT work is to reflash the unit...cuz maybe its a software glitch...however I have absolutely NO clue how to reflash this unit...I've been reading around the site for the past 4 hours trying to learn some of this stuff...but as I am retarded when it comes to computers, I am quite confused...
and what would be the best ROM to upgrade/reflash it with??
Also, I find the machine to be extremely laggy...I dont know if its just mine...and if its the some other software problems..but its very laggy..
And a third thing...I dont know aout other branded HTC Wizards...but for the O2 Mini S, I have this Icon menu going down the left side of the screen...does anyone know how to get rid of it?
If anyone can PLEASE give me a hand...I would greatly appreciate it.

It sounds like theres summat wrong with the ROM, also i think you might be running an old ROM too.
I'd suggest downloading the new ROM from www.my-xda.com and flash it with that, it works great on mine.
If your not running an older ROM then do a hard-reset and re-install, but reset before the O2 custom install stuff gets the chance to install.
P.S. hard reset by pressing the Voice record button + Comms manager button then tap the reset, but keep hold of the other 2 buttons untill you see the message on screen.

Also, would it be necessary to reflash the entire device to get rid of possible bugs in the OS? or would a simple software upgrade such as downloading off teh O2 site work?
Danny, how do you find the O2 software? have you tried other ROM's such as those for the Qtek 9100 or Imate K-jam??
Any help on downloading the appropriate files and maybe a link or details about how to actually update the machine would be great.

My phone crash and can boot to Windows
I try this update this version and it cause my phone to crash and now it can't boot to Windows (only to booter !!).
I try to use previse ROM I use to update (depod ROM) and it fail on 2% although I already did that once (I update from CHN to WWE).
Does this utility erase and lock the phone ??
Anybody know who to recover from that crash ?

I did the upgrade
I also had the lockup like L.A , but reverted to the dopod rom and run the program a second time. And now I am running the customised ROM
Will evaluate and feed back. Maybe a bit late because I would be on the road a bit

Mine is originally HTC P3300.
I confirm that the lite edition also works on my phone. I may stick with it because I want the freedom to choose my applications without cluttering my memory. The lite also have audio booster, graphic equaliser, and voice recorder, and media hub.
In addition to these, the customised one has Notem, GSFinder, Sprite backup, reset, BatteryStatus, Card export, and soft key aplet, opera browser, TCPMP, registry editor, etc.
I must be off now.

Yes, some time back
i can also confirm that this only works if you have a clean device, ie. you have to HARD RESET the device BEFORE you update with these roms (both lite & customized). (you also have to hard reset after the update)
ps. the also seem to have a third rom on their website, has anybody tried this?
p.p.s it seems that this rom does not allow you to go below the year or 2143 when you try to set the date and time, can somebody please try this on their device to see if they have the same problem.

The third ROM comes with some map software but I did not d/l it because I wanted a lean base.
You can set the date to "normal"by going to start>settings>system>regional settings and change from Thai to English (US)
The Dopod ringtones are also posted as a cab file at the same site.
Admins: Since this is not "ship ROM" where does it fit? Will upload later if there is clarification. The PDA Mobiz site is painfully sloooww
Lite and Modified versions on ftp now
I have put them there now.
Tips: The hard reset procedure will not show a "lighted screen" , so hold the buttons a bit longer (i did it for 20-30 seconds ) before releasing them.
When phone is resetting and tells you ".....The cold boot did not complte ......."and you need to press yes, do not be in a hurry Just take some 20 seconds before clicking on the soft button.
If you get stuck, reflash the shipped rom and try again after the initial settings. (tip above was to hard reset before starting)

Here's my own modification. I did id for my own purpose, and decided to share it with you.
As a Base, I choosed 1.11.171 version of O2 ROM.
I stripped it from o2 stuff, left only necessary files. I added extra bluetooth profiles and left bluetooth and camera patch from new version (pug's version doesn't have it, despite what he says in his posts on this forum)
I also added Radio 1.04 from Pug's release.

radio was taken from pug's release (162).. which is good, because it's more stable than official 1.0
apart from this, there's patched bluetooth driver, that was officialy released by o2. _THE SAME_ that previously was circulating around this forum.
i merged it with extra profiles taken from previous releases, because some people experienced a tiny set of options with this upgrade.
camera fix was also merged from the new, official 171 release. dunno what it does, because i'm not using this function
overall, the stability is the same because main rom version is the same. it doesn't change anything in windows core. changes were made only to the extended rom. that's it.
i have many applications (including startup ones, like: spb pocketplus, resco explorer, skype, agile messenger, etc.)
i'm using my rom for a week and I, personally, didn't experienced ANY hangs or resets. it's working like a charm.

sure you can, and yes you'll lose everything (like after hard-reset)
My Alpine is dead
Yesterday I tried to update my alpine to this new Rom, but dissaster happened.
Maupgrade recognized my device and my version, and I told the program to begin with the update.
After more than 3 hours the scrren was blank with usb v1.01.
I took the pda and trie to hard reset it but it has been imposible.
Now the screen only says serial v1.01 or usb v1.01
If i try to re-run the maupgrade it only says that is checking the information of my device and stays like that for hours.
what can I do to have my PDA back?????

if you still have the screen saying serial v1.01 or usb v1.01, your device isn't bricked. maybe try other rom upgrade

Dude, this happens sometimes. Take it out of cradle and then take the battery out. Re-insert the battery again and put it in the cradle and then re-run the maupgrade.
I have solved the problem!!!
I have tried doing it on a windows xp based computer and everything worked fine.
Has anybody had the same problem with windows vista???

A New Official ROM has been released????
Upgrade available on Europe site but does not yet appear on HTC Australia website. None of these fixes/upgrades look very useful, apart from maybe "Enhanced Opera’s browsing performance while running other applications" but I never had any problems with Opera anyway...
Is it possible they may include other fixes not listed on their site (such as the memory leak problem?) - here's hoping!!

I installed it, but it has become extremely slow.
I do have to add that my phone just had the Hard-SPL stuff and the other update on it which or both unofficial.
I am currently doing a hard reset and hoping for the best.
I have no idea if it is because of the other updates. My guess would be not, because the rom is overwritten.
I installed the ROM upgrade from HTC, it ****ed up my device real bad: phone module not working, device boot up in aprox 1 min, after 3 mins Touch Flo not started, it restarts by itself.
I did hard reset and nothing happens.

I reverted back to the original Dutch Rom dump.
Which is the thing that works for me.
The phone boots up normally, but starts to get slow at the moment when it is installing itself. I am going to mail HTC about it.
I might try to install it with the original rom I have now. But I believe that it isn't an update, but a new installation anyways. Which means that it doesn't matter what you had before it.
HTC Touch 3G ROM Upgrade (EU)
Hello people,
I downloaded the official european rom upgrade from HTC Europe just an hour ago, but I'm not able to flash. When I start the procedure, active sync just quits and the flash procedure also quits with an error message after a couple of seconds. So how can I make active sync not to quit? Did I miss something?

I just did the rom update and yes after installation my unit was very slow...
A few reboots later (after the network wizard has run) the unit was still slow.
I verified the network connections settings (did not change anything!) and strangely after that my unit was'nt slow anymore but as fast as before the upgrade.
For the moment I'm staying with this new official rom...

just did the upgrading, everything seems fine, except can't use M2DC anymore (cause touch flo stop working), have to find a new way to remove "starhub" craps
I got it and my phone is much better. It seems to work faster and the radio signal is best.
Did you see that the upgrade is only for a few languages? Maybe you should do the upgrade after insert the serial number and see if the new ROM is good for your phone.

After the update, M2DC crashed on me... BUT i realised if it was disconnected from the PC, it works perfectly fine.
However, i faced 2 other problems...
1) Date is no longer displayed on the main screen
2) No more footprints
Do you all face the same problems? or is it just me ?
Footprints is not a feature of Jade but from Iolite.
However, you can install Footprints, but the tab in TF2D is not available:

that was the same with the original ROM, I have not upgraded and my activesync always comes back even if I close it.
the activesync is on more frequent with the new rom
i notice its on only when i use my gps
after upgrade its constantly on
but the plus point is the gps really react a lot faster now
so what can we do ...
With my serial number, I got this:

But I don't want the StarHub things because I'm not from Singapore and I need a normal Asia rom so I borrowed my sister's serial number and got this:

Who needs the 2 above roms, let me know.
For the Asia rom, it works fine for me so far, the active sync problem can be resolve by adding server source and change the settings to manually. But funny thing was, I cannot remove the server, once I remove it will come back again everytime so I just leave it there and active sync won't on anymore until I use it.
Does the second asia rom upgrade without the starhub logo when you finished? Please share. I hate the logo after my upgrade with the first one.

For the Asia rom, it works fine for me so far, the active sync problem can be resolve by adding server source and change the settings to manually. But funny thing was, I cannot remove the server, once I remove it will come back again everytime so I just leave it there and active sync won't on anymore until I use it.

Help please guys.. for some unknown reason i decided to go and install an app from windows freeware - swype.
Installed - do the reset it asks..
Phone asks for my pin code and would you believe it.. it doesn't recognise the pin screen..
What can i do?
I'm a T-Mobile UK customer running a 1.66 WWE rom with a couple of tweaks and skyfire web browser..
Any help appriciated

Looks like i've fixed it..
Hard reset (buttons) and roll back to the T-mobile 143 rom official..
The phone forgetting the PIN is a known, and serious, bug that happens after a while if you set a code to lock the phone. Hard reset is the only way to solve it, as there is no "correct" PIN anymore and you will stay locked out of the device.

I was just coming in now to update this to say that the 1.66 rom with Swype is not a good move.

Update, Samsamuel beat me to it, but I'll leave my post as it was praising his good work anyway.
We discussed issues with Swype versions in another thread and Samsamuel kindly published a working version that happily does its thing on 1.66 (well it works for me). Here's a link to the thread
