Using the imate itself as a bluetooth headset

This may sound weird, but does anyone know how to use the imate/xdaII as a bluetooth headset?
I am using pc to phone software and want to be able to wander round the room/house with my imate talking via bluetooth to the PC and to the pc-to-phone software on the PC.
I have a Sony Ericsson HBH-65 bluetooth headset but the battery life is TERRIBLE on it - talking for 30 mins on that will probably render the battery dead!
Looking forward to your comments!
this is not the answer to your querry but something related. when i bond my xda to my pc via bluetooth; to complete the pairing the xda asks you if you want to use the pc as a headset. out of kicks i pressed "ok" and when my phone rang the speaker of my laptop was the one which sounded. the bond between my xda and my o2 headset was gone. had to rebond the laptop and headset again...bottomline is that you can use the laptop as your "headset"...so from there maybe you can work something on the other way around?
cheers
Interesting!! The PC can be recognised by the phone as being a headset. Thanks for the response anyway - perhaps someone can make use of this.
In the bluetooth toolset that I have installed on my PC I can search for all devices that can be used as a headset - the HBH-65 appears in the search, but my XDAII doesn't.
Wondering whether someone has managed to tweak this to work.
regarding: The PC can be recognised by the phone as being a headset.
i haven't tried plugging in a mike on my laptop; which means that if it does work you can actually use your pc as a loudspeaker for conference calls.

i don't think you can use your regular bt headsets for laptop / pc use; read it in one of the topics here somewhere.
cheers

Using PC to answer calls via ActiveSync

Is there any software that can allow me to answer my calls from my PC whenever my unit is in ActiveSync? I'd like to use my PC microphone and speakers in answering calls.
i dont know but since activesync is made for normal pda's and not spc for phone pda's i'm not too sure that they incorprated it in activesyncs functions
of cause since that the pda can get access to the network using activesync then i suppose that people could make a program which had a socket the pda connected to that and transfered the sounds as data and such
but somebody need to make such a program and i've yet to see a high demand for it
and as with soo much other things in this world without a demand chances of somebody makes it are less
Certainly would be a very useful program if written.
well maybe there is a demand / market for such a program then
dident know since my xda2 is only in the cradle when it's sync'ing or charging
Bluetooth is your answer i think...
My MDA saw a BT headset service on my BT dongle on the PC...
Didn't try it tough...
If you happen to have it worked, please do inform me. I don't wana buy that BT device for my PC if im not sure it would work as a headset for my XDA2. Thanks so much.
Interesting question! Isn't there a way of getting the XDA to be a virtual modem for the PC? There's that prog called XModem on the OEM - so there must be a simple way of doing this. If it were treated as an external modem, you could use any traditional PC phone answering software, I suppose.
I can gurantee it.. buy a tdk bluetooth usb adapter(or any other adapter WITH widcomm blutooth stack) this will enable your computer to act as a headset ,the widcomm software has the audio gateway protocol which will enable the pc to act as a headset..

Yup ! Works just fine. Coupling the handling of the mobile calls with the handling of the SMSs with Jeyo, the config while in the office is rather good. You can really forget about the mobile device.
Excellent. Thanks again for the tip.
also
when you bond your phone to PC (xp sp2) it gives the option of headset profile.

I don't think that Microsoft bluetooth stack supports Audio Gateway Profile nor does it support Headset or Handsfree...
that means that you CAN'T use your pc as a headset
and you CAN'T use a bluetooth headset with your pc..
I even encountered some difficulties with installing widcomm software after installing sp2..

I think you are right : YOU can't do it
I restate here that I have done it and it works fine. Both bluetooth headset on the PC and PC as headset for the Pocket PC. And I don't have SP2.

I cant get you
I was replying to the guy who said that with sp2 you can do what I said about widcomm(he said that with sp2 you can make your computer work as a headset)
what I'm trying to say that Microsoft bluetooth stack (which will be obligatory installed with sp2) does not support Headset or Handsfree profile
but widcomm does..
And I can do it ofcourse
okay, point taken I misunderstood you. Sorry about that.
Do I have to install Widcomm Bluetooth stack on my XDA II to have this work? I have Bluetooth Dongle on my PC with SP2.
no no... don't install widcomm on your xda because then it will NOT work..
you just have to have widcomm on your pc
do you know if i can use the WIDCOMM drivers with my USB BT dongle (Linksys DBT 120)? if so, where can i find the WIDCOMM drivers?

are you sure it's Linksys DBT 120??
or d-link DBT 120??
if the latter is true then you already have widcomm drivers with your adapter driver cd..
Simple:
why isnt it possible to use the same thing through the usb cradle ?
Why does it _NEEDS_ to be a bluetooth connection?

Dial WM2003 (GSM or CDMA) via Bluetooth from Windows XP

Is it possible to access and dial the phone from AT commands sent through a bluetooth conncection? The intent is to dial the phone for a voice call through a Bluetooth connection from Windows XP and pick up the call on a Bluetooth headset conncect to the WM2003 Phone device.
Is there an application which already does this?
there is the pda remote free from ms dont know if it works with bluetooth though
if it depend on activesync then i guess it's just a matter of sync'ing with bluetooth and use the program

Stream music from PC to PPC over Bluetooth A2DP

Hello,
Is it possible to stream music from my pc to my pocket PC?
I was looking to buy the Sony Music Bluetooth Receiver MBR-100 but before doing so, I wanted to check out if it would be possible to do it with PC -> PPC...
Have been looking for Bluetooth A2DP but all I can find on the net is some info to connect a (music) headset to your pocket pc, and that's not what I'm looking for...
To be clear: I want to play my music that's on my Lenovo T60 PC over Bluetooth A2DP on my Wizard Pocket PC (Qtek 9100 G3 Faria Crossbow WM6).
I dont think that this will work with Bluetooth but it will with WiFi
Use WinAmp or MediaMonkey or foobar,Oddcast Plugin, Icecast Server
Use MortPlayer to listen on PPC
