Morning everyone,
I am just about to take a new contract with Vodafone and they are offering the VPA Compact II. See link below

Can anyone confirm if this is the QTEK9100? If so, I will definately get one!
Thanks,
Nick
Moin,
I already own this devise and can therefor happily confirm that it is a Qtek 9100, even if it doesnt look like one
And: I realy love it.
So, get one.
Bye

I coming neer to renewing my subscribtion and whas looking for a new phone.
The MDA compact looked real nice, but now that the qtek s110 is almost here.
This does not make the chioce that easy as the s110 is 155 euro and the MDA compact is for free.
Also the MDA compact comes with 256MB sd card, but it is white en the s110 just looks beter  .
Also I have read that the MDA has a dutch t9, which I can probably download of the ftp.xda-developers.com .
But which one, does the 128MB realy make life easyer ?
Can you give me some pointer on which one to get.
sold my S100 last week for a S110, see no difference
So no need to worried and spend more money. Same things juste nicer color and bigger memory 128MB instead of 64MB
TUX2K - someone's already posted exactly the same topic elsewhere, which has been responded to... S110 if you can afford it.

The MDA Compact isn't white but silver.
The T9 is not really needed, but another fact is that the MDA Compact hasnt got it.
The extra memory is ok, but I wouldn't pay so much for just that.
Well, if I buy the MDA t-mobile will pay for it. Of course when I buy the Qtek s110, which also has 24 month garanty, I will not get the T-mobile discount.
So the S110 seems like a smart choice, longer support (which I can also get for the MDA at 160 euro), more main memory.
I owned a XDA, which was always runnig out of memory, so that why I asked if the 128MB makes that much af a diverance.
Also Qtek does release update for it's devices, which T-Moblie does not
hello everyone. i hope my question isn't 'off-topic'.can somebody please tell me when there will be an english rom that could substitute the german one provided with the mda vario that comes from t-mobile?the reason is that i would like to change the german rom with the english one, because i do not speak german but i bought the phone from germany where i was the past weekend.thank you all in advance!
German ROM in Vario
I am not sure, but the Qtek 9100 or I-Mate K-Jam ROMs should be pretty much useful for U, if you can get them.
Wher the hell did you buy the MDA vario in Germany? I am living here and I can not get it. When I was trying to order it from T-mobile I was told on the phone, that the units will be available on January 18, 2006 ! C R A Z Y ! !
to all of you asking from where i got it let me tell you that i bought from dusseldorf from a cousin of mine.but from what i know many people got through the net from well known german sites! but what i am asking is if there is an english rom to change the german one?please if someone knows...

Officially no "cousins" and no well known german sites do sell the Vario in Germany, yet. If you really have it - U R LUCKY!
@ fut. problem: You could also try the US ROM form the US-version of the Vario. Maybe using the miniSD card and the backup software /w "backup/restore All data".
I just bought MDA Vario and have the same problem(((( everything is in dutch PLUS it's sim-locked. ANYONE HELP!!!!!!!!!
""Officially no "cousins" and no well known german sites do sell the Vario in Germany""

Hi guys!
I got a question, may be its very stupid but I have to make decision till tomorrow noon and that’s why I need your help.
Tomorrow i'll have to buy one of the following magicians:
1) T- Mobile MDA Compact
2) O2 XDA mini
3) Vodafone VPA Compact
All of them for the same price - $410 (what do u think? )
The question is simple, which one should I go for :?: :?: :?:
Your advices would be really appreciated.
Thanks in Advance
I don't like the design of the VPA, but the design of the MDA and XDA is the same.
Buy the one from your provider, so it's easier with the settings for GPRS etc...
e-bay
A friend of mine got his mini in E-bay arround €250, I dont now u could give it a try.
The VPA looks more "professional" and less like a girly toy.

Not sure what you mean by girly. My MDA looks very contemporary because of its modern silvery look. clean design.
BTW I were you, I would go for the new JasJar... am going to get it soon.

I got mine from Ebay too - also for 250€. Hasn't been opened or used before me. I think 410$ is far too much to spend.
In my opinion the MDA Compact from T-Mobile looks most professional, the O2 printing looks cheap in my opinon...
Hi everyone, just wanted to say i am selling my MDA Vario on ebay and if anyone wants to put in a bid or wants to buy it off me from here can contact me! here is the link:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MDA-Vario-XDA...9121813110QQcategoryZ3312QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Don't need the Vario now i have my MDA Pro. I also have a MDA III (Blueangel) that i am wanting to get rid off but has a few minor faults so if you are interested please pm me.
(sorry, i accidently posted this in the universal forum)
I might be interested however it looks that you are selling it in UK only
sell it to vijay
Vijay!!!!!
Hey Vijay, so i've been told to sell my Wizard to you! Do you want it?
Get back to me man!
haha.. I was mostly teasing - but he's in the UK region and has been asking (also teasingly, really) for a loaner so he could develop some utils for the Wizard which currently don't work on it (but work on his Universal). Not too sure he'd be willing to part with some cash for it
Okay guys, heres one for you...
as some of you may know, i currently have a wizard, well an o2 mini-s to be exact, and am due to upgrade, change soon.....
I've have a number of smartphone/pda's in the past starting with the SPV E200, then the E500 then the SPV M1000 (Xda II) then jumped to the XDA Exec, which i sold and got a XDA Mini s.
I don't really want to go to anything bigger than the mini-s and like the slide out keyboard, kinda rules out the xda atom, SPV M600 etc etc
My question is, what is the main difference (apart from colour) of the 3 main hermes devices marketed at the minute.
Is anyone better than the other or is it all just down to bundled software and case colour......
I'm thinking of the SPVm3100 as i like the colour but dunno wheather to wait for o2 to launch the Trion in this country ???
any advice would be helpful.
It is very unlikely that O2 will ever release the Trion in this country, despite what others might say. Do you honestly think that O2 would wait so long?
The Hermes you have in this country are pretty much it, it really depends on what services you want. If you want a locked down device then go for Orange, an unlocked device with very little extra stuff loaded go for the v1605/TyTYN or if you want a device with bugundy go for the Vario II.

Thanks for the reply... locked down can be fixed surely... it hasn't been an issue in any other xda's so far.....
I do know the orange is a good looking device especially in the black... might have to bite the bullet and go back to orange...
I've had the chance to really put the M3100 and Vario II through its paces.
I found the M3100 to be faster and also damn good looking compared to the ugly duckling the Vario.
Almost everything else is the same.
Hope that helps.

Not yet, other than by convincing your operator to do it (unlikely), or by paying £20 to an online unlocking service.

Thanks for that... I had the SPV E200, C500 and M1000 through orange and had no problem apart from i found that the signal strength where i lived wasn't up to much.
BTW Does the SPV M3100 take mini sd or the new stupid sized micro sd..
hope it's mini as i've just had to buy one recently for my mini s.... i've now got a 1gb sd card which is no good, i don't want a 1gb mini sd that won't be any use either
Sorry to say its Micro SD on the Hermes.
Hi,
here in germany the best choice is the MDA Vario II from t-mobile.
The reason is, that t-mobile is the only provider that supports HSDPA (1,8 mbit i think).
Hope it helps,
Thomas
