Is there any program/skin that can enlarge dialer? - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

As tittle suggest
Is there any program or skin that can modify the phone dialer in WM2003se to have bigger number button?
I am very interested in dialer that are fullscreen or lot bigger than the build-in one
I have rather large figure tips, and everytime I press, 3-4 button get press at the sametime...
And its a hussle to pull out the stylus just to make a call
btw, I wouldnt mind paying for this too... thats how much it bathers me

Bigger "phone" screen?

Is there any skin that gives me bigger buttons on the "phone" screen that are better for dialing for those of us with big fingers? I don't need to see my provider, the last call, have the video button, etc.
Search for the E-Ten dialer skin. this works a treat....
Give Imaginet-Fingerclix a try, though it is not free but I recommend it strongly

stylus-free use?

Hi, I am quite happy with my Cingulare 8125, but I sometimes find myself in situations where I would rather not use the stylus, and then I wish there was a way to put the start menu and the OK button on one of the device's buttons. Also, if it is bright outside, dialing a number is a bit awkward. has anybody had the same problem and perhaps found a solution?
Yep, it's called Smartskey and it'll do exactly what you want. Do a search and you'll find all kinds of info about it.
Also look for FakeCursor. Works great!

I second that.
I also use WM5NewMenu and PHM TrayLaunch. Both of these let you arrange the menu/shortcut order to suit your needs and are navigable with the Dpad. With these two and smartskey my wizard is one thumbed use rather than one handed. I have managed easily without a stylus.
Regarding the visibility in bright daylight, try changing your theme/skin to something with more contrast or increasing the backlight settings. Alternatively use MSVoiceCommand or the standard voice dialer for existing contacts, I haven't had much luck with MSVoiceCommand recognising number strings correctly for new phone numbers though.
Thanks to all.
I have downloaded the smartskey and I'll give that a try. It seems to do what I want.
Regarding the dialing: As this is a phone, I'd like to see a dedicated number pad on it, or a remapping of the existing softbuttons to numbers. For example the DPAD (might) have 9 positions (if the corners are recognized differently than left or up), which could be mapped to 1-9. Add 1 other softbutton for 0 and you have a complete dialpad. Perhaps in another release ...
Brilliant

Ok, I think this is my first post, for I am a professional lurker and all, but I swear I jumped out of my chair when I read this. This is perfect. Perfect, brilliant idea, would solve the single greatest drawback of this phone IMO. PLEASE tell me that there is a way to make this happen. I know, for example, that smartskey remaps the d-pad buttons to open up contacts, recent call list, etc. So I'm guessing a little tweaking somewhere could make this happen? If not smartskey, a new program perhaps? Here is my promise: someone comes up with this program, and I'll make little numbers stickers to go around the d-pad (yeah, laugh, but I'll do it!)

Speed Dial... no shortcut

I've found that theres no speed dial shortcut.
On the Touch you simply press the Green Call key, press button down on the thumb pad and all the speed dials are there.. this isn't so on the dual.
has anyone found a easy wasy to find them with less than 5 clicks?
If not, does anyone know what .exe runs the speed dial, so I can create a shortcut on the Start menu.
Tnx

I personally find smart dialing to be a breeze... Just start keying in the first couple of letters and you'll get the matches... I have over 400 contacts and I find it a very efficient way to dial
Aaaaaaww what a great tip! Have had my Touch Dual for a week and had not discovered this gem. Thanks

What about assigning the contact tiles in the Touch Flo as you speed dials? Then you can have pictures of your contacts too?
my "workaround" for your reference:
1. add a shortcut to HTCActionScreen.exe (i.e. the action screen we get when sliding down the keypad) to Windows\Start Menu\Program Files\
2. now should be able to add HTCActionScreen.exe to the HTC Home Launcher tab
usage:
(click 1) launcher tab -> (click 2) launch action screen -> key in whatever you like with the hardware keypad to enjoy the quickdial feature
just for exp sharing.
But why do you need a shortcut for that?
I you anyway use the hardware keyboard to use quickdial,
why not simply start actionscreen by sliding out the keyboard?

1. when i'm so stupid that i can't press the first key before the action screen timeout and disappear. in this case, i don't want to slide the keypad back and out again.
2. when i want to use the other shortcuts on the action screen.
Hehe, ok
But one hint: u don't need to close and reopen the slider.
The sensor is on the last 5mm.
Just pull it a little bit back and release.

hehe... i really did this previously.
the shortcut was added later when i found that sometimes (though not frequent at all) i may want to access the shortcuts on the action screen without opening the keypad.

[9-25-2008] 3D Button Dialer skin with cab (New Versions)

I got tired of the three step process to install the dialer, SmartDial and graphics everytime I flashed or did a hard reset. So, I made my own .cab installer file.
I combined DxC's excellent minimal dialer (3b), the new SmartDial version of EtPhone.dll with my own graphics and replaced the contents of DxC's .cab file. I edited the EtPhone.dll file to hide the little black rectangle that is left over from the elapst time display. I also edited the layout for the button sizes to better fit the graphics on the "Call Status" page.
I don't really use the landscape version, so I didn't make any changes there. I'm not really sure who the credit for those graphics should go too.
The results are a one step install Dialer with SmartDial, redial and (I think) pretty good graphics.
I hope you enjoy it.
8-3-2008 - I created a white set of files. The graphics line up pretty well but with an all white background the text at the top of the screen doesn't display. It may work off of the system fonts associated with your theme. If so, your in business... Let me know if the skin works with your white theme and I'll finish the process by creating a cab file.
Still no Landscape. and I can't edit the EtPhone.dll sufficently to get rid of the rectangle, or add extra smart dial lines.
8-6-2008 - I think I did it. I got rid of the rectangle. Actually I moved it to the upper left corner on the same line as the dialed phone numbers. I got to looking at the original EtPhone.dll file (Pauly-A E Ten) I realized that DcX actually moved the buttons around to get the wonderful layout we now have. Someone else moved around the layout to make the Smartdial visible (I don't know who) So I figured, instead of hiding it why not just move it...
... so now it is nearly perfect. (the black one, to me) I still can't seem to figure out how to reverse the text color for the white version. I will keep hacking at it. I won't be making any other layout versions, I'm pretty happy with the layout as it is. I may create some new graphics for this layout. Sorry, I can't please everyone. So I please myself and bring along as many as I can with me.
The .cab file below is the newest version with the rectangle fix.
9-11-2008 - I got to tinkering around again. I moved and resized some buttons on the dialer screen. I enlarged the SmartDialer and enabled the BT headset icon. I also cleaned up the graphics. I only changed the main dialer screen. There are black and white versions. I have only tested on the Wizard. Enjoy...
9-25-2008 - Couple of little edits to show the status icons for headset and location. Okay so I also removed the white line down the left side of the Call Status screen on the black version.
THE IMPORTANT ?
Does it have redial functionality

Why yes, yes it does...
That is the SmartDial version. Sorry, I should have stated that.
Requests...
Perchance, make the keypad buttons just a bit smaller so that more of the SmartDial list shows (rather than just the one line)...
...and skin the landscape display?
Nice job overall, like the SmartDial addon.

Very nice dialer but u didnt solve the rectangle problem hiding the middle of the smartdial. I installed, soft-reset, press green call button to display this nice dialer, then slide out keyboard to see default landscape dialer with no smartdial, then closed hardware keyboard putting the screen back to portrait and low and behold, black rectangle box in the middle of smart dial. Awesome dialer if u can really fix the box problem as well as work on the landscape skin. Good Luck!
Love the dailpad...can we change the background to all black?
thanks
nice job...thanks
can we have a white version (easy to see in sun light)
landscape would make it complete
thanks
Mr. Incredible,
This is a perfect & sharp graphical one, thanks for the effort.
Can I have the same with white background please.
Thanks again.
another observation... I'm not sure if this is supposed to happen, been so long since I've used a smartdialer, but the 1 acts as a wildcard for contact names... again, can't remember if that is an original function of it, or what.
perfect,
i also prefer totally black for better reading...
i don't know if this is possible, but to see 2-3 smartdial lines it would be nice.
but i don't know if this is easy to change ?

agree! A white version similar to diamond graphics would be highly appreciated
Any way to use this with HTCTouch's WM7 dial skin? I so miss having that smartdial feature! Now everytime I have to call the last person, i have to either dial number or go to PocketCM. That is no fun!

Sorry I, realized that after I posted. I'm not a programmer. I was just hacking around with the EtPhone.dll file. My resources for editting are pretty limited. I do hate the little rectangle, so I will keep trying. (yes, hate is a strong word)

Sorry, I'm not the author of the EtPhone.dll. I just made my graphics fit what is there. Anyway, I like it with the larger buttons. They fit my fat fingers better.
I really like your job a lot but i cannot manage to do vidEo calls ... may you tell me what I have to do or add a dedicated button? Thanks and bye!

I don't really like sunlight. I try to avoid it at all cost. I may be able to replace the EtPhone.dll in DxC's minimal dialer for you. It's white. (mostly)
Also, the all black background isn't possible. I started with a all black background and the 3D effect I applied added a little bit of "off-black" to achieve the effect. I too would like a more black version but the trade off is not as realistic.
Nice job on the dialer. Big buttons and black are perfect for me.

Really simple.
1. Uninstall any other dialers you may have installed. (Not including the original)
2. Copy the cab file to your phone and double click. Soft reset the phone.

[REQ] large dialer with smart dial?

Is there a large dialpad similar to idialer but with smart dial (so spelling out a contacts name will bring up their number) ? or even a way to enable smart dial?
iDialer here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2694308
or something similar to the minimal dialer here:
http://handheld.softpedia.com/get/Skins/Minimal-Dialer-64089.shtml
but doesnt use the diamond phone canvas as a base (because of the issues with wm6.5 & the just stupid amount of ram the diamond phone canvas uses)
currently i'm using the gorgeous Ryon dialer skin here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=508920
but the buttons are to small
Anyone know what dialer this is and where to get it?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1336681&postcount=41
Seems to be what i'm looking for
looks like an old version of inesoft try here
http://www.inesoft.com/eng/index.php?in=phone.html
You can try Yota Dialer (search here), except it's a little buggy for me.
thanks for replies guys but Innosoft doesn't seem to have smart dial otherwise was good and ya yota is just a bit too buggy (not to mention it takes up as much space as the regular htc dialer)
anyone else have suggestions on a large button dialer with smart dial?

There isn't one really.
I've been looking for the same solution for a while.
Put a request for a developer here instead. I'll put my hand in for the graphics.
iconsoft phonex has smart dialing and a large keypad, I think the latest version uses a lot less ram too a simple dialpad similar to that would be great to replace the small wm dialer
Maybe o3touch brings what you want? See http://www.o3touch.com/
phonex is not bad but when receiving it interferes with the windows 6.5 lock screen, otherwise it was actually pretty good, had smart dial n everything
o3touch seems to be a keyboard not a dialer so cant really comment on that
i came across a really good 1 but its incomplete, its here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=437296
its a VGA touchflo 2d dialer, the dial screen is perfect with smart dial and good buttons, as well the incall screen works great.
forgot to test out how it works with an incoming call and the wm6.5 lock screen (though it probably wont work that well)
but the big killer for this is that its not finished and in wm 6.5 when using smart dial the contacts all wash into eachother and become unreadable (the names will just constantly overlap eachother so its unreadable)
anyone know of a dialer similar to this but JUST the dialer, the incall screen is nice but not a big deal but any kind of custom incoming call screen will just screw with the wm6.5 lock screen
i've seen a boat loads of dialers for qvga (minimal dialer being really good) so their has to be something similar for VGA, or if their are any developers who could make 1 for 6.5
its the same dialer as 6.1 but because the lock screen already has slide to answer built in and an incall screen built in we only need to skin the actually dialer itself
and of course if anyone has a dialer they really like please share
