No sound after unplugging handsfree in Magician ! - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 General

My magician was doing great without pluggin handsfree in it.But after plugging and unplugging handsfree first time in it,now I can't hear the other party while in a call.I have to plug hansdfree again to hear.No handsfree no sound during a call. All other sounds, ringtones are perfectly ok.But only during a call,no sound. Is there a way to have it worked instead of just sending it to warranty and wait for many days ?

I had the same problem. Try moving the handsfree plug around in the hole and unplugging it again. That worked for me. Good luck.

Had the same problem. As advised play around the hole or suddenly pull out the hands free with a sudden tug.

i tried everything but couldn't manage to have it working,so I just sent it to O2's customer service, they will return it to me day after tomorrow

Wow, that's great service. When my sound stopped working it took I-mate 1 week just to reply to my email. Fortunately, I was able to get the sound back

Qtek S100 "no sound"

Hi everybody
Since yesterday, unfortunly my Qtek S100 doesn`t have any sound output (after using it with earphones as mp3 player). Somebody had the same problem or knows how to resolve?
i forgot...
i forgot: i am also unable to make phonecalls, because also the phone speaker gives no output...
had the same problem myself recently. Mine was due to the headphone socket switch getting stuck (It still thinks your headphones are plugged in). trying plugging in your headphones again and removing them. Sorted my prob

Oh, big thx man... have same problem on t-mobile mda compact... try everything, i realy think that this is end and be ready to go into service... Thx again for you msg - all work now =))) I'm - the happiest man in da world after that! Respect from Russia and gl to you!
Perhaps resolved...
If your HTC has no sound output (after using earphones)...
>>connect your earphones and make an soft reset...
>>unplug (with the HTC oterwise started) your phones and voila: the speaker will work again (perhaps only for some time... after you have to try the procedure again :-(

This happened to me with My O2 XDA Mini 4 weeks after I got the phone and I never used a headset. I had to send it in for repair and they replaced the speaker. When I got it back the speaker worked but the volume was VERY low. After the second repair and second speaker everything worked for 2 months. Speaker Low again. I sent it in for repair for the third time. I am told that they replaced the phone after long phone conversations with O2. I should get it back in two days. We'll see how long this one lasts for.

faulty Speaker

Hi everyone
My o2 mini speaker dead last week , does not work at all , I installed the image but no diffrence , any suggestion ????
I also had a problem with the speaker. It occured after using the headset. The problem could be solved with plugging the headset again and detaching it with a quick movement (the phone was working cerrectly with the headset plugged). Don't know what is the reason, but sometimes after long use of the headset the problem turns up after unplugging the set. Try this, maybe it helps you too.
hi
i read about it somewhere in the forum.
its just because of a switch inside.
no need to worry about a major problem.
just like what Szilu said, plug it in and out firmly.
hope this helped!
regards
chester
-edit-
oh and its not due to long usage
i suffered this situation too...but O2 Centre can fix it within 1 day...real quick!
it's just because of the very FRAGILE audio jack that is installed in ur MINI. When u unplugged ur headset, the phone "doesn't know u unplugged the jack" so it assumes that it is still plugged in...so no sound will be channeled to the speakers...
try on...put in ur headset again, u will hear everything thru headset but not the speakers.
what u can do is VISIT O2 Customer Centre...small case...dun worry!
Same problem with me too
hi. i'm having the same problem - and - i don't have any JAM service centre near my place....or in the entire state....so i was planning to open it up and see if i can fix it from the inside...

Thanks for saving me a few hundred dollars, hassle, downtime
Wow, what a resource this has been! I came here months ago when I wanted to upgrade my system. Now it just saved me who knows how much in service costs. My speaker stopped working as well and I was sure my device was completely messed up until I checked this forum.
I tried what you suggested and it worked perfectly! I had to plug the headset out twice, I guess the first time I didn't do it fast enough. You really have to give a quick tug.
Thanks for the valuable advice!
P.S. Now I have lost my excuse to upgrade to the imate K-Jam. Oh well, all in good time.
Put my money where my comment is
I've made a donation to the forum to thank you for this helpful advice.
Ok, so I didn't donate as much as I would have paid a technician but...hey, it's something

No Sound, slight buzzing in speaker

hey all. My Friend had a problem with his Prophet where there was no sound on the internal speakers on his Prophet, but a headset worked ok.
He hard reset his Prophet to no avail, but when he asked me, I remembered a similar problem on the E200 (or Canary).
It seems that the headset socket is a bit sensitive, and there's some kind of trigger letting it know when the headset is in. This trigger sometimes gets stuck when the jack is removed, as if there was still a headset plugged in > hence no sound thru speakers.
Solved it this time by plugging the headset in, and taking it out using pressure at various angles. I've also read about toothpicks being used on the Canary, but I'd advise against anything that could break of inside of, or damage (like a hair clip) your device.
anyway, the device fall down?
No, it works fine now.
Great!!! now all you have to do is enjoy the time you lose with your device.
Have fun!
imate JAMin Built-in Speaker hardware failure
I had to get my speaker hardware replaced.
Bad news!
Mine is back for repair due to speaker issues. Sounds like I am not alone ....
And the really bad news is that apparently the replacement audio parts are not in stock - it could take a month plus before I get my device back
It's already been 3 weeks.
This sucks.
Be patient.
Now I have some problems with my device and all I have to do is forget the device for a day and after that put all the attention on it.
Hope you can find the right place to fix it. Good luck!!!
Looks like i have this problem too. I noticed the speaker have some crackling sound sometimes and sometimes it's ok. But today it went dead. tried inserting the jack but no result.
repair neccessary
My Prophet (Orange SPV M600). Is back at Orange to be repaired fr the same problem also.
The speaker on the back of the Prophet started to get dissorted and after two days stopped working at all.
Two days later I found that if you tap on the back of the device, it sometimes worked again. Always only for a minute or so.
In the Orange store they took the device apart to check the connectors. No luck.
Now it has been sent for repairs to??????
Let you know when it has been fixed.

You can do a hard reset to go back to factory defaults (includes the register).
If then still you have no sound, I'm afraid you will have to return it to O2 for repairs.
btw, a hard reset you can perform by holding both the camera and the communications button on the left hand site of the device and then to stick the stylus in the rest hole at the bottom.
The device will prompt you to hit the send button to format your device. This is a hard reset.
Good luck!

Did you have any luck with your speakers problem?
I am facing the same problem and, although I reset it (and tried applying a previous backup which was working fine), I am still unable to make it work... I have to admit that I was playing with the registry a couple of days back, but I don't think that I caused anything by doing so.
Please update on your situation... I have an Orange UK SPV M600.

HD2 calling random people on its own

My phone has been acting very strangely for the past hour. I've been making dinner in the kitchen for awhile while the phone sat on my office desk, screen side up with the screen turned off.
I heard the phone ringing so I ran upstairs to answer. A client of mine was calling to ask me why I had just called him. I hadn't even touched the phone for atleast a couple hours so I just apologized and hung up. I start making my way back downstairs when the phone rings again. This time it's a friend of mine asking the same thing. After apologizing again and hanging up, I check the call log only to find there's 15 outgoing calls in the past 40 minutes or so.
What the hell is going on? I soft reset the phone and so far it hasn't called anyone. Most of the people it called were my clients or business associates who I can well imagine don't appreciate being called on a sunday evening. Has any other HD2 owner had a similar thing happen to them? I'm running a stock 1.66 ROM, if that matters.
Hi, I bought a cradle for my HD2 and it started to call various numbers in the wee small hours (when in the cradle)- much to my friends' annoyance. I put it down to a poor power supply for the cradle (it was a european 2 plug transformer so I had to use an adapter). Since changing the power supply, the phone has behaved itself.
Was your phone on charge - if so, maybe check the quality of the charger, if not, then sorry but I have no suggestions.
Good luck!
Jesus, that's a nasty fault. Keep us updated...
same here
I had the same, some days ago. I was listening music on my hd2 with the earphones. Suddenly the phone interrupted the music, to make a call. Some minutes later my colleague called me to ask me why I needed him.
Soft reset, and it seems stable. but such jokes are expensive, since am mostly abroad.
I sort of had the same thing my hd2 was sending txts to ppl for 1 day till Idid a softreset. but it dished out 20 txts before I found out.
i think the reason of this is the big touchscreen sensitivity bug. sometimes my touchscreen has also his own life and dials numbers or changes tabs.
maybe it appears more often in cradle because the phone is not locked while it is docked to it! for me it mostly happens when the device is connected by usb to my notebook - because it is unlocked... i hope you understand what i mean.
maybe the reduction of sensitivity will be a solution for you!
I'm getting this! my mate played me a 4 minute voicemail of me telling the kids off today!
My mrs has also said i've rung her (and she stayed on and listened in!!! NOT GOOD lol) it's happened a few times with her
Now, this could be that i forgot to lock the phone before i put it in pocket, but it's happening a bit too much now, i will monitor it from now on making damn sure i lock it before pocketing it
Ha! Had the same happen this morning - driving to work, plugged my headphones in as the cd player in the car isn't working, 20 mins down the road it decided to ring a friend - 3 times in quick succession. As it was in front of me in my car phone holder I saw it happen and cancelled the call as it was very early!
Restarted the phone and it didn't do it again.... until driving home from work, same thing, same person... he was the last person that I had called previously, but even so... a bit odd!!
I pulled the headphones out and it didn't happen again....
Weird, eh?

i got the same problem once.. it happened only with the earplugs pluged in Oo
well doesnt matter, it did it never again.
but i noticed that the phone called only the last number i called.. only the last one, i even called my home number, and tried it again.. it called automatically the last number then -> my home
but yea, like i said, it never happened again, and its like 2 months since then
The exactly same thing happened to me too. I was listeing to music with my earplugs and it suddenly started calling my girlfriend (I guess it was lonely) but the interesting thing is that It never finished the call. It started dialing and after 1sec it automaticly disconected. SR did the trick.
The funny thing is that this happened to me when I was just having the worst morning ever (With cold I went to school for final exam and I forget my jacket (suit) in train and even that I woke up 1hour early I still came late because the bus i was supposed to be in crashed before my bus station, well but thats offtopic)
I've since spotted other forums with people saying the same thing when headphones are plugged in - my experience was with non Htc headphones - not sure if that's relevant? Also - just before it happened I had the audio skipping problem - again, not sure if that's related either - I've seen a thread on here somewhere regarding music player skipping issues, so will check that out....
Cheers folks!
steve
same thing here, phone calls last dialed number, while listening to music with non htc headpones...
has noone found a solution by now?
eh just found out, its not relevant, that one is listening to music, its just the connected headphones ;/
Correct. It has got something to do with the connector of the headphone.
the connection-plugs are too narrow. It doesn't matter if you have a 'real' or immitation headset..
It is an htc disfunction which also was caused with the HTC Diamond and other htc phones.
Seems that htc aren't able to fix this!
btw The best thing to do is to call a fake number first; like 0000001 or so because the htc (when touching the wire / connector wrongly) will only call the last number used, which is very annoying when it calls your wife in the middle of the night going to work...
Cheers

I no it doesn't help, but I have never had this problem, with using any headphones I have I got 3 different sets and non of them do this ,
you dont have a dodgy program installed like that crazy game that was making international calls do you

no not at all, just flashed a new rom (miri+dinik) and task 29 inbefore.
@qs2010: so buying a stock headphone, doesn't solve ?
urgh too bad i just ordered one :/
i am pretty sure, it was behaving normally, the time i used the stock ones (lost them)
Weirdly, since formatting my memory card using the onboard function on the phone (to try to cure the music stuttering problem) my phone hasn't called anyone randomly when using either of the two sets of headphones or audio out cables! It also cured the music stutter issue!
I have the same problem when I plug in/out earbuds or headphones, but it's intermittent; basically the jack plug messes with the buttons wire and cause the Call button to be sent multiple times, which should (depends on your ROM) cause the phone to call the last contact on your history.
To quickly check if you have it, try plugging in/out your headphones, maybe with a video playing, or turning the jack plug while they're connected.
Doesn't happen with me right now. Not sure if it's because of the ROM or the humidity.
+1
Absolutely the same thing is happening to me. I watch films on my HD2 very often(using non-HTC headphones) and sometimes it starts dialing the last dialled number from the call history list.
What I am doing now to fix it is calling myself after all phone conversations (
I hope there will be a hotfix or something because that is really annoying.
I've had this problem occur with headphones and without. I walk regularly and use the HD2 to listen to music. Over the last 6 months it's dialed people randomly on maybe a dozen occasions. Once it starts doing it it will continue to attempt redialing until a reset.
Today however I had no headphones on, the phone was in my back pocket, and it dialed my nephew who happened to be standing right beside me. He said it was me who had phoned him, so I checked my phone and it was in the process of dialing another person entirely.
Extraordinarily annoying.
These occurred on stock rom, and more recently Energy.
From what I've read in this thread, people are describing two problems, both of which I've experienced.
Firstly, I have a non-htc charger that I have discovered causes random points of the touchscreen to act as though they have been touched. Basically, if I plug in to this charger with the phone on I can watch the screen go crazy as though someone is randomly touching and swiping it. I think this is the kind of problem people would be having if the phone calls randomly when on a charger or cradle.
Secondly, I have found that when headphones get plugged in they sometimes trigger hardware button presses. The most common problem here being that it calls the last dialled number when I plug in headphones. I've had the problem intermittently with anything I plug into the headphone jack, but some things are more likely to trigger it than others. For example, a battery-operated FM transmitter I use causes lots of problems, unpowered headphones cause only a few. My suspicion is that small voltages shorting across contacts in the headphone port as the plug is inserted mimic the functions of the HTC headphone control buttons. This might make problems more likely when there are sources of static electricity around your headphone wires, or when you plug in something powered.
