help?!
anyone??? i've tried hard reset and i still have no GPRS !! HELP!!!!
sounds like
it sounds like you do not have the gprs provisioning on your account or you are out of gprs coverage most likely the first option as the G signifies that GPRS is available to you check with other users in the area to see if they are recieving coverage if so contact your SP!
I was using the MDA compact (tmobile) for a while and the same thing happened. I was told by technical support that it probably means that the radio is bust and I got a replacement. This was although my 'phone' was working

hello xda people,
i ve been browsing the forum for the past three hours looking for the o2 internet settings without success.
i now have the new t mobile rom wm 2003 cooked in lumpistefan's kitchen
rom 4.01.16 ENG
but i am with o2 uk and apparently in o2 website there is no word about connections settings( weird...).
can anyone post them pls?
thanks
if your previous rom contained the settings after a hard reset, chances are, theres a cabfile there in the ExtRom which has it. my xda had asia settings which ran an app "autoconfig.exe" which in turn, ran specific cabfiles. just check the autoconfig.txt to see what you need (since you mentioned you came from an O2).
if you DONT have it, then you could also use wince cabmanager & check out the registry settings of the cabs you think are what you need 2 get an idea what they install (usually in the registry settings)
the access point is the only think i've seen differ when it comes to grps settings in general and even those are most often just internet
and possible the login and password even
though they too are often left blank since the grps server know
which user who are connecting because it can see the number
someone has emaild em to me so i thought it might help some of you.so these are the settings for 02 xda uk:
Start > Settings > Connections > Connections >
Under My ISP tap Manage Existing Connections
Tap Edit
The Select a Modem drop-down box should be set to Cellular Line (GPRS)
Tap Next
Access Point Name: mobile.o2.co.uk
Tap Next
Username: web
Password: web
Domain: leave blank
Tap Advanced
On the TCP/IP tab, only Use Server-assigned IP Address should be selected
Tap the Servers tab
Use Specific Server Addresses should be selected
DNS: 193.113.200.200
Alt DNS: 193.113.200.201
Tap OK
Tap Finish

Contact O2 Customer Services to have this enabled
and there is the address i could not find in the o2 web site:

good surfing to all of you...
ok ive just installed the new imate rom and finaly decided it was time to get my gprs settings set up but im haveing a bit of a problem.
this is what im doing, i am trying to use the o2 payg gprs data settings
im making a new connection
"enter a name for the connection"
o2 gprs
"select a modem"
cellular libe (gprs,3g)
clicked next
"access point name" 02 gprs
clicked next
"uaer name" payandgo
"password" password
now for domain ive been told on 3 calls to use payandgo.02.co.uk
this is where my problem is because the box only allowes me to type payandgo.02.co.
as for the advanced tab i was told to leave them as use server assigned ip address on both tabs
i havent gotten any further than this and if i leave it as payandgo.02.co. i cant get it to connect to the gprs network at all
o2 said they cant help me as its not there software all they will do is give me the settings .... bahhhh stupid customer support lol
well any help is apreciated guys ........ thyis board has been a life saver since i got the phone
your access point name doesn't look right. Most probably that's where payandgo.02.co.uk needs to go.
well according to
http://www.filesaveas.com/gprs.html
its this
Code:
O2 GPRS settings (Email/Web):
Homepage: http://pda.o2.co.uk/
APN address: mobile.o2.co.uk
Username: mobileweb
Password: password
Session type: Continuous / permanent
Authentication: Normal
Security: Off
HTTP Proxy: 193.113.200.195

Email servers (SMTP): smtp.o2.co.uk
DNS Servers: 193.113.200.200 and 193.113.200.201
and that looks decidedly different to what you have been told. According to the site there is no difference between PAYG and Contact like there is on Vodafone
Ive used the settings from this page to setup my gprs so i dont doubt the info is correct, but cannot confirm the o2 settings, im on Voda
try them, worth a shot
ive tryed with those settings and it just says that it cant connect. is any body else useing o2 payg uk gprs on there phone wo could tell me what they have
chears guys

Its from : http://www.filesaveas.com/gprs.html
You will also find MMS settings etc there as well.
Also do a search in this forum, somewhere there is a cab file to download that will set it all up for you correctly.
why did you install the imate rom BTW?
i updated to the imate rom as i had problems with the o2 rom,
still havent got it to work yet. i mite take it in to an o2 store and see if they can set it up for me ... the people on the o2 help desk are idiots lol
Hi All,
I dont actually have a XDA I have a iPAQrw6815 smartphone running WM5. But I wondered if anyone has a WM5 XDA connected to the T-Mobile UK data network via GPRS? I've been looking at various websites for the last week, I've spoken to t-mobile and they say the settings are correct but when i try to connect i get the following message:
Dialed: general.t-mobile.uk
"The answering modem has disconnected.
To check your connection settings and change them if needed, tap settings."
My current settings are:
connection name: T-mobile UK GPRS
modem: Cellular Line (GPRS)
Access point name: general.t-mobile.uk
username: "user"
password: "one2one" (i've also tried, "wap", "mms" & "pass" - recomendations from other websites)
Proxy Settings: proxy server = 149.254.001.010 Port = 9021
I even tried the "Auto Configurator" that retrieves the settings from the network and that didn't work either!! (Not sure if this app is a iPAQ thing or is standard on WM5 smartphones???)
Any help would be appriciated.
Lexa.
T-Mobile
Homepage: http://wap.t-mobile.co.uk/ or http://www.t-zones.co.uk/
GPRS APN address: general.t-mobile.uk
Username : user
Password: wap
Port number: 9201
SMTP email server: smtp.t-email.co.uk
from
http://www.pda-friendly.net/PDA_GPRS_Settings.htm
works for me.
i dont use the proxy server, that is something they want you to use, but should not be needed.
do you get an error message?

Hi, My vodafone settings look the same except for the WAP/Socks. Are you entering these via the advanced setting under the TCP and server settings? As I do not have any entries against these IP address - I just use the server assigned IP address.

I removed them and soft reset, didn't make any difference.
