Netherlands Orange M3000 Edge functionality? - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

The M3000 looks similar to the Qtec 9100. Orange states that there's different software on their device, no Edge functionality, no flah for the camera etc.
I have bought the M3000 and see: alle the software of the Qtec 9100, flash etc. is on the M3000!
But I can't work with Edge. I have unlocked the device(succesfully) en tried a Telfort Sim card with Edge(Telfort supports Edge in the Netherlands) Normally, the M3000 should switch to Edge when I use the internet(Internet Explorer) but the M3000 start switching to GPRS.
I have previously worked with a Qtec 9100 and it worked that way, why not with the Orange M3000? In the manual of the M3000, Edge is listed as a feature of the M3000.
What is going wrong and what do I have to do, to have the Edge functionality working?
Thanks!
Freek

Hey Freek,
I dont know much about Edge to be honest.
But why dont you flash the QTek rom onto the m3000?
As far as I know the m3000 is a HTC Wizard just like the QTek 9100 so you can Flash roms easily!
Good luck.

well, Orange NL doesn't support Edge. They will have 3G/Umts instead

I know, so I use a Telfort Sim. Question is not if they 'll support Edge but if the M3000(Qtec 9100) does...

xda II with d2 vodafone

Hello,
i've a xda and use it with my d2 vodafone card, and everything works with it allright.
I want to buy me an xda II, do anyone knows wether it works too with an d2 vodafone card? Or is there something like a simlock, can I use internet with gprs an the all stuff people with O2-Germany can use?
I'm happy for all answers that can help me.
hi,
my t-mobile mda-II works without any problems with the d2-vodafone card. You can use every kind of connection you want. No SimLock on my device!
But you can´t use gprs with a callya card you need a real card.
regards
AleX
thanks
hi alex,
thanks for your answer.
I think xda II and MDA II are the same in everything. So I think I can buy me an Xda II without any fear.
I'm soooooooooooooooooooooo excited.........
Bye...
Connecter, I would be wary about buying the xda2 if you need to use it on another service providers network, it seems people are having an awful job getting them unlocked by O2, now I dont know what kind of Vodafone sim you have but it certainly isnt O2 so make sure before you hand over the loot.
now i'm confused
Sooooo,
now i'm confused.
Is there anyone who can tell me if the xda II works with my german provider "D2 Vodafone"?
I wanna have a xda II, but I also want to use my "D2" provider, and I want use all features of the xda II.
Can someone help me???
Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi
I do have the same issue with SIM lock or not, I want to use it on a swiss network.
I just wrote to the support of O2 Germany (where I got mine from), they replied that XDA2 does not have a SIM lock.
So I should be possible to use it on any network.
Why you don´t buying the mda-II Device? I can garantie that it works!
regards
AleX
MDAII works fine
Hello,
i bought a T-Mobile MDA II. There is no simlock on my device. Web-Browsing with GPRS ist easy to set up. The only problem i have is to set it up to send and receive MMs-Messages. But i'm still working on it.
Regards
Markus

Don't be. O2 in the UK sells the XDA II with a SIM lock, while O2 Germany sells the German version of the XDA II without a SIM lock (or so I've heard).
The MDA II also has no SIM lock, and at least in Germany is considerably cheaper than the XDA II. I got mine brand new from eBay for 560 Euro without contract.
You can easily flash the O2 firmware to an MDA II (for example, if you want the homezone indicator).
Cheers
Daniel
an unlocked xda2/mda2/qtek2020
should work with just about any gsm provider there is
like an unlocked nokia telephone does
Does MDA II have english OS or German?

Wanted New I-Mate Jam

hi guys looking to buy a NEW I Mate Jam anyone out there got one ??
www.expansys.com
I u need an original, unbranded, i-mate jam or qtek s100 then go to expansys.
If u wanna save 200 bucks but have a branded magician (t-mobile, O2, vodafone, Orange), instead, go to ebay and search for:
MDA Compact (t-mobile)
XDA Mini (O2)
SPV M500 (Orange)
VPA Compact (Vodafone)
Dopod 818 (???)
Consider that u can completely unbrand and unlock the magician so if u buy, say, a mda compact (as i did), u can unlock it, remove t-mobile branding or even replace internal rom with a rom taken from another company and in another language. I bought a mda compact in germany, unlocked it, removed german t-mobile rom and replaced it with i-mate jam italian rom. Basically, the only branding u won't be able to remove will be that in the package and in the manual.
Bye,
Isidoro

you still can use O2 rom , or Qtek or Dopod rom , it work fine with T-Mobile services.
I would keep using the O2 ROM over anybody else's ... I've been using my XDA exec since early october '05 here in California and it's great ... specially if it's connected with an exchange server .... the only drawback would be you need to manually configure the GPRS/3G settings on the device ... well if you have this kind of device then you should configure that easily ...
can't wait for the XDA Trion or maybe get the Qtek 8500 too ... he he he
so you can use the o2 rom, what sim card/carrier are you using, i thought the o2 roms locked the device to o2 sims only?
From what I understand O2s are factory unlocked. I'm using an o2 Exec on O2s 1.13 ROM with Cingular.
I had tried all the ROMs available, from T-Mobile, O2, Dopod, etc... To me, the QTEK ROM offers more stability, less customizations, good signal with radio 1.09.00, and supports both AKU2 and A2DP.

Orange UK Rom for Wizard

I understand that the Wizard was sold in the UK as the SPV M3100. But I can only find the FRENCH ROM for it - I don't suppose any of the happy Wizarders here have a copy of the UK SPV M3100 RUU at all?
Would be VERY happy to receive it.
My Wiz appears to be a G4 - Qtek 9100 branded but with Voda splash screens - I thought Voda sold this as a VPA, not a Qtek?
Thanks!
ybi
