I'm using a QTEK 9000. Can somebody confirm on their JJ/O2 EXEC/ Dopod 900
1) If a webpage has more than 10 frames you cannot open it
Here's the test
Go to www.numion.com. Start the test by selecting Singapore sites. Run it and a message box will pop-up saying the site exceeded 10 frames
2) If the set is being connected to your notebook through USB (with Activesync disconnected) and its being charged you cannot surf the internet usng either Wi-Fi or G/U (whatever that appears on the top bar). Have not test using AC charger though.
Thanks
Hi,
The error message is;
"This Web page contains too many frames and cannot be displayed. Internet Explorer Mobile can only display pages with 10 or fewer frames."
This to me sounds like a limitation with the application, not hardware. I would presume that a different browser may have other results; ie
- Mozilla
- Opera
- Or some other 3rd party web brower
Just a thought

Hi michaelg,
You are right that its a PIE limitation
BTW, did you test item 2)?
Thanks

offical O2 source say;(http://www.seeo2.com/support/Xphone/template/XphoneKnownLimitations.vm)
''O2 Xphone is not bundled with a Java Virtual Machine. This means downloaded Java based games & applications will not run. Some WEB and/or WAP sites which require Java may not display correctly due to this. As O2 is committed to continually improving its products, users are encouraged to visit ''
is that true?
You owner of mini/Jam /xdaIIi do not play Java based games over internet via GPRS/wireless .(like Yahoo Games etc.)?
and normal downloaded pocket PC games (like Chess)?
and continue ;
Bluetooth.
O2 Xphone does not support beaming of files to another phone via Bluetooth.
GPRS
O2 Xphone does not support suspend & resume. If user is surfing the web, selecting refresh will re-connect GPRS automatically.
Internet Explorer
To access some WAP pages, users may need to put wsp:// instead of http:// in the beginning of the URL. For secure WAP pages, users may need to use wsps:// instead of https://
MMS
When viewing MMS, you need to press navigate softkey and then back key twice to go out of the MMS viewer.
GPRS will not automatically disconnect after sending and receiving MMS. Users will need to press and hold the home key and select 'Disconnect GPRS' to do so.
After taking a picture using the camera application, you are not able to send a MMS immediately. This is because the camera application and MMS are 2 separate software which are currently not linked. However, the picture taken is saved on the same directory as the MMS. When users need to attach the photo, users can find the captured image in the \Storage\My Documents directory.
O2 Xphone does not support Video MMS
SMS
On the English version of the O2 Xphone, Chinese (Traditional and Simplified) SMS received will not be displayed. It will show up as square boxes.
all of the above are true ?
if yes, trash it !!!!
Jasjar Pocket IE (and Terminal Server Client) will NOT use existing WiFi connection yet other 3rd party Applications have no such problem!
MS Pocket IE (and MS Terminal Server Client) always tries to use GPRS connection and if I turn flight-mode on, it fails altogether rather than use an existing WiFi connection.
The following applications work fine over WiFi suggesting my network setup is OK:-
AvantGo Client Connect Updates
Weather Panel Updates
Opera Browser v8.5 Beta
My home WiFi hub is a Linksys WRT54G. Works fine with my old XDA II by the way.
Are there any Registry settings I need to change :?:
I have tried searching Tweaks2K2.net for a solution but no luck.
The alternative is that you could connect to your WIFI with your EXEC first and then open PIE. That is the procedure I follow. Click on the icon next to the signal bars on the top bar and you will be presented with a pop up window. Click on Connect to WIFI and after done, open PIE or Netfront and surf using WIFI.
Cheers, Vikas.

Thanks Vikas for your reply.
Sorry, but it was of little help..
Yes, I have a tower-like Icon with to and from arrows showing an existing WiFi connection. The Connectivity Dialog Box that appears when I click the Icon only gives option to "Turn off Wi-Fi", Jump to "Settings" or to "Hide" the dialog. It also shows the WiFi connection name and a bar graph showing connected signal strength.
When I hide the dialog then click on Start->Internet Explorer it shows a start page:
file://\windows\default.htm
If I click on a link on this page e.g. "club i-mate", I get a "connecting..." progress bar at the bottom of the screen shortly followed by a connection Dialog saying it is trying to connect to GPRS, 3G that I must cancel because it costs $0.02 per Kbyte! No page loads.
If I use Opera Browser, it uses the WiFi link and pages appear as expected.
Clear as mud :?:
I guess the O2 Exec ROM is OK but the i-mate Jasjar ROM has problems on my device. Easy money for Opera guys, they scored my US$29...
I'm very confused as to why I can't browse with PIE, Opera works fine, but if I try to browse in PIE (I want to use logmein ) It connects, then says locating for ~30 seconds or so, then gives me the following error : "The page cannot be displayed or downloaded because the connection was lost. Check the connection and try again later"
I can browse perfectly well with opera, but can't resolve any page with PIE.
I'm on t-mobile in the UK and AFAIK all my settings are right, so why can't I use IE??

Is there any proxy setting in your PDA? As has been pointed out in many of my Pocket PC & Web browsing-related articles, Opera doesn't use the system-level proxy, while PIE / IEM does. This is why IEM doesn't work.
I have got the t-mobile proxy in my settings, but if I delete it I can't connect at all.
WHat settings should I have ??
bump.
Can anyone help?
I would like to use mobile.southwest.com. However, it detects that I am visiting with a PPC and redirects me to the main site.
The problem with this is that I often want to check in, and if you do it from the main site but don't print a boarding pass, when you "reprint" a boarding pass at the airport, it reclassifies your boarding group. If you check in with the mobile phone, it remembers that you are boarding class A.
I tried installing opera mini (which, since I use a T-Mobile MDA, required installing a midlet manager) and then going to mobile.southwest.com, but southwest still redirected me to the regular site.
Has anyone figured out how to go to the southwest wap site?
there is a registry setting, so your browser will be detected as a desktop pc,
don't remember the setting you have to search like registry setting for IE6
I need the opposite
The problem is that mobile.southwest.com is detecting my ppc as a desktop pc, and thus assumes I have an attached printer. I want to tell it that I am not a desktop pc.
How to spoof a desktop pc is in the wiki:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=WM5_Tweaks_Other&version=70
but I haven't been able to find how to spoof, say, a treo (on which this mobile.southwest.com returns wap content).
Tried them all
I have now tried PIE, Opera mini, Minimo, and Netforce 3.3, and can't reach mobile.southwest.com on any of them -- I'm sent to the main site instead. So clearly it isn't a browser issue but some other settings. Does anyone know how to spoof a wap browser?
The solution to this problem turns out to be to use a WAP browser. The two main ones are Klondike ($23) and winwap ($50). Klondike's trial has a not-very-obnoxious trial reminder periodically but my understanding is that it works indefinitely, which is very nice of them.
I tried the Tweaks2k2 changes and nothing helped with getting mobile southwest to work.
I downloaded Netfront 3.3 and if you allow WAP on the program, the mobile southwest will load correctly.
I called southwest before doing all this and got nowhere.
If anyone has an idea of getting the default browser to work, I would like to know before, I pay for Netfront.

Skweezer.net
Have any of you tried skweezer.net? It's a site that condenses web sites for small screens. I went there on my LAPTOP, entered mobile.southwest.com into the search window, and brought up the mobile version of southwest.com. I surfed the mobile site for a while. I even looked at the mobile pdf schedules page. Southwest.com never detected that I was surfing from a laptop, not a mobile device since I loaded the page through skweezer. I think skweezer might fix both problems.
Works for me

Cool! This works!
Nice Bass Aggie.
Skweezer compressed the web site but it still does not bring up the mobile website.
Any other ideas on how to get it to work on PIE.

I'm using Summiter's last ROM:

and mobile.southwest.com works fine for me.
Hi,
I m trying to stop Opera 9.5 defaulting to the mobile version of the EBay website when I connect through Three 3 mobile. When I use Wifi it connects to the full webpage, when I connect through my three data connection it defaults to the mobile version H3G.Ebay and wont display the full one. Any ideas???
Maybe ebay detecting the ip and thus choosing to display the mobile version?
As Arfster said, ebay is seeing your host as coming from a mobile ISP and redirecting you to their mobile site. You could try going through an internet proxy, although I'm not sure how to acheive that.
Will perhaps do a bit more research. IE on this phone also will only display mobile site.
My N95 8gb running Opera was fine although & could get full website. I think I had to click a link on mobile website to show full version but once stored in favourites would load 1st time. This option not available now.
Was wandering about the options within the opera:config menu. ?
If I enter www.ebay.co.uk into Opera on Dutty's WM6.1 Ver 4.3 ROM it takes me to the full site. That's with default settings - I have not changed anything in opera:config.
At a guess, your N95 8GB must be on a different network?
I'm fairly certain that this is a network issue and nothing to do with your useragent string in Opera.
I would call 3 and take it up with them, as since they have got a specific address (h3g.ebay.co.uk) it would appear that 3 are the ones doing the redirecting within their network.
thats something i would like to know as well.. i hate when im using google and it opens a mobile version of websites by default. any wyay of swtiching this off? thank you
so I take it that since there aren't any further replies to any threads pertaining to this that no one has found a solution ? grr ¡malditos desgraciados!
It is not a network issue.
I had Opera 10 loading the fullpage untill 10 min ago.
Then I tryed to activate flash and now it redirects me to the mobile: same phone, opera version, network. Only changed settings.
My problem is I can't roll it back!
