Yes, there is:
1) Go to Start Menu.
2) Go to Programs.
3) Go to Clear Storage (this is equivalent to a hard reset, so beware! YOU ARE GOING TO ERASE ALL YOUR INFORMATION & RESTORE TO FACTORY SETTINGS!).
4) Type 1234
5) Press YES.
6) Press OK button.
7) Wait for the reset.
You are now back at the beginning.
Press down the two - keys and press the rest button.
Then 0 to restore to factory settings.
Corporate option will ask for a code.
Its 0506.
You then need THIS CAB file to setup o2 settings or it wont find a network/MMS/3g service.

I realize how stupid that question looks, but I also can't believe I can't figure out how to do it. I've checked:
1) The CD.
2) The manual.
3) The device itself.
My 8525 is completely hosed and I need to do a factory reset.
How?
Select Start > Settings > System > Clear Storage. Type 1234 in the box and tap Yes. Note: This will erase all information on the device and restore it to factory setting.

Close to the end
Just remember you will lose ALL data

Thanks!
I actually caved and called Cingular. They said to hold down the two soft keys while doing a stylus reset, which I did.
Does your tip do the same, exact thing?
umm dunno,
i dont have this PPC, just found the info on the HTC site, under "Hard reset"
You can try both if you like but if the way you were told ove the phone works, use that seems simpler.
@srchingforsignl: you'd be amazed at what you can find in the hermes wiki too btw...

Hi palonisj,
You can try and perform a Hard Reset (wipes device back to factory settings) to see if it makes any difference. Please note: a hard reset will reset your phone back to factory settings, this excludes data stored on your MicroSD card.
If you need to backup any data (such as Contacts, Messages, etc) before you perform a hard reset, then you can use a backup program such as PIMBackup or Sprite Backup (you get 15-days full trial) to backup your entire phone to the storage card. In order to run this application, you first need to install the relevant cab file on your phone and then you access the backup program (PIMBackup or Sprite) via your phone to create a backup.
To perform a Hard Reset, please do the following:
1) With the device turned off, press and hold the VOLUME UP and VOLUME DOWN buttons, then briefly press the POWER button.
2) Continue pressing the VOLUME UP and VOLUME DOWN buttons until you see this message on the screen:
Warning! Your device will be set back to factory default settings. Please ensure any additional installed programs and/or user data have been backed up before a hard reset is performed.
3) Release the VOLUME UP and VOLUME DOWN buttons, press the VOLUME UP button to perform the hard reset, or press any other button to cancel the reset.
4) After the reset, don't install any software. Try the camera.
5) If you still have the same problem, you can also try going to the official HTC website, to the support section, and apply their Hotfix. Here is the link: http://www.htc.com/www/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=179&cat=2&dl_id=533. Just follow the steps and you'll hopefully be fine. *** Make sure you have Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 installed on your PC before you try this step ***.
If nothing from what I have suggested above works, then it is very likely to be a hardware issue in which case you should call up HTC to arrange repair - also explain to them that you've tried the Hotfix in the support section mentioned on their website.
Regards.
ive got an htc touch pro that has had the meid number changed to that of another htc touch pro...my question is...is there anyway to reset the main software to revert the meid back to its orginal number that came with the phone....
1st option is Clear Storage then 2nd option is Hard Reset
Did you try to use 'Clear Storage'?
Clear Storage
You can also use Clear Storage to reset your device back to factory default settings.
1. On the Home screen, slide to the Settings tab and then tap All Settings.
2. On the System tab, tap Clear Storage.
3. Enter “1234” and then tap Yes.
If the above method did nothing for your device then
in my opinion it's time to do a 'HARD RESET' for your device...
Important;
If Encrypt files, when placed on a storage card is enabled, backup all files from the storage card before using Clear Storage, hard reset, or updating the ROM system software. Otherwise you will no longer be able to access the encrypted files on the storage card. Use ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center to transfer files between your storage card and computer. After the procedure, copy your files back to the storage card.
To perform a HARD RESET
Warning! Your device will be set back to factory default settings. Make sure that any additional installed programs and/or user data have been backed up before you perform a hard reset.
1. Pull out the stylus.
2. With the device turned on, press and hold the VOLUME DOWN and ENTER buttons, then press the RESET button with the stylus tip.
3. Release the RESET button, but continue pressing the VOLUME DOWN and ENTER buttons until you see this message on the screen:
This operation will delete
all your personal data,
and reset all settings
to manufacturer default.
Press VolUp to restore
manufacturer default, or
press other keys to cancel.
4. Release the VOLUME DOWN and ENTER buttons, then press the VOLUME UP button to perform the hard reset, or press any other button to cancel the reset.
:END
IMO this will revert the meid back to its original number.
Senax
You will have to manually change the meid back yourself. Look on www.mobile-files.com

A hard rest should erase all that stuff. Try it again.

You're not doing a real hard reset, you're doing a soft-reset.
Do this:
1) On the Home screen's Settings tab, tap Menu > All Settings > System > Clear Storage.
2) Enter 1234.
3) Tap YES to perform the reset, or tap NO to cancel the reset.
If its still there then format the sd card

SD card won't make a difference, you can actually just take it out and not even use it if you want, it has no bearing on settings etc.. unless you are flashing a custom ROM using sashimi or UC or other restoration things.
