Can anyone tell me how to install the GPRS Monitor for SPV-M5000. The manual says it is on the CD but I cannot find it on there anywhere. What directory contains the setup files etc ??
Thanks

Hi peeps,
Is there an app or a trick where I can run an .exe file on my UK Vario without having to hook up to my pc?
TIA
What exe? How are you getting the file on to your phone?
V
When I'm out and fancy downloading something I generally download direct to my device and as a rule everything a in exe format so need a PC to run the app, game etc.
Not a particular exe just in general
Thanks
I think he meant that how can he extract the stuff he wants from a SETUP.EXE of a PPC software.
If it is an EXE, you can run (still need a PC) it on a PC, check the temp folder and get the CAB file. Copy and run this on your PPC.
Many thanks for the info, not quite what I mean.
For example I'm at work and browsing some ppc freeware I find this file pocketpictureinstall.exe and download it direct to my device.
Thats it I dont have my home pc to hand just my Vario and unless I run ActiveSync which I can't at work there is no way it will run on my device.
Is there any software out there that would allow me to provide the .cab files local on the device or just run the app?
Thanks again.
No not really. There are possible apps you could compile for the PPC to assist, but you'd have to be a coder. If not, then the easy answer is typically no - but many websites offer the choice to download the installer in cab format.. Look around.

I have xml parsing templates on my 8125, that were created in Notepad on my laptop PC and saved as unicode.
On my laptop, I can open them in IE, but on the 8125, I can't. PIE tries to open the file, but I just get an empty page -- a blank screen in PIE.
Can anyone help me with the registry settings I need to tweak, so I can read xml files in PIE?
They open up for me in PIE and I haven't done any tweaks. I'm not sure why they wouldn't open up in yours.
Thanks. You helped me find my problem.
I've been copying the files (connected via ActiveSynch) from my PC to my 8125. They've been working fine that way, with the program that uses them (Spb Insight).
But -- I can only read them in PIE if I actually "synch" them over to the 8125.
From PC to PC, you can network a shared folder. How can I share a folder on my PPC and network it so either my mac or pc can grab files without having to use ActiveSync or the ridiculous The Missing Sync for mac.
use resco explorer
you can use resco explorer to set up a network share. then copy any files from your PPC to your network share location. Hope this works.

Click to collapse
I'll give this a try, thanks.
And, without that, for instance, with File Explorer not possible? I can 'open path' ?
I made it work
I made it kinda work. I am sure there is something wrong, but what I did actually worked. There may be enough correct info here to help:
#1 - I installed a cmd shell
#2 - using the 'net use' command:
net use \\<machine name>\<export name> <password> /user:<domain>\<user name>
#3 now authentication window comes up, and I type in my password.
#4 now I have remote access:
copy \\<machine name>\<export name>\<file name>
When I installed the "total commander" application, I noticed there is a directory now called //network, with a sub directory called <password> ( my actual password ). Inside the password directory are all the remote files. I guess "net use" works a bit differently on this platform than I expect. So I do not know what is going on, but I do have file sharing across SMB..... ;-)
Hello,
I am looking for bytecounter.exe file. It is free GPRS monitor. It is on some ROM's in \windows directory. Please check your \windows directory for bytecounter.exe file and if you have it then please upload this file in this post. I will be really grateful for that.
Best regards.

Here is it. It is really simple application for GPRS traffic monitor. The problem is that it is not working on my HTC Kaiser with WM6.1. In ResourceManager we can see many data but i don't know how change it for works. Perhaps some can do this?
hey, i was trying to access a folder over the lan, via wifi, and it sorta worked, until i clicked a file, and now i get an error, cannot connect with current network settings, so, i cant connect to the network folder, and the icon shows up next to device, an memory card, even in vista when connected to active sync. could somebody tell me how to remove the folder, or at least help me get the settings right to acces the folders again.its kinda irritating
bump, does anybody knows how to remove the network folder?
Go to the registry and delete this branch to remove the most recently used of network folders in File Explorer:
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\File Explorer\DialogMRU\
ok tnxs, i will try it
