Speeding up WM5 - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

Apologies if this has been covered before, found these settings on another website (http://smartmobileassets.com/cgi-bin/Blah/Blah.pl?b=winmobile,m=1132411511)
Have they been tried and do they make any difference?
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\FATFS\CacheSize=0x1000(4096)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\FATFS\EnableCache=0x1(1)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\Filters\fsreplxfilt\ReplStoreCacheSize=0x1000(4096)

Yes they work!
Yes they work beautiful on my Jasjar, the device is noticeable faster in all the applications.
Thank you!
Rodrigo Gonzalez

Cache settings, hum... how safe is this?? I take the chance and test them

hi. please could you tell me is i need to insert the full value "0x1000(4096)" or only one of them? thank you,

Yes, "0x1000" in Hex is identical to "4096" in decimal. Put whichever one you want into the relevant registry entry.
I've messed about with these registry settings too, but in all honesty I haven't noticed any difference in performance....

me too...

But as darkdestroyer says in the other sites forum...
Yes i've done this since it was first released on Aximsite by another member. At first I had 8 mb allocated, but i guess 4 is the best number. The PDA right after a soft reboot is still the same speed, but after you have all of the shortcut's/programs run once, they will be put into ram and the following run's of those same programs/shortcuts will be much much faster. This is indeed a great find and should be standard with WM5

No changes in the performance of the device.
The only change is battery draining faster than the original settings.
I've done these changes before and had to reflash the ROM again to my device.
I don't see any need to make these changes, and I don't advise any one to do them.
Regards,

These registry settings have been reported to increase performance by many users on different forums, some using the Dell Axim x51v ,BA users and even some Universal users and are even incorporated into tweaks2k2. My advice is to try them for yourself and make sure the changes are actually being applied after a soft reset and then perform some tasks on your device (see the post by Carnivor) and then make your own judgement. No one so far has reported any negative impact apart from a small reduction in program memory. The changes can always be reversed if needed.

Erm... so is this registry tweak adding cache memory to the system for running applications then? So that .exes or .dlls that are loaded when a program is run are available more quickly to the system next time they're needed?
If so (and I can't quite believe that this could be the case ), are we now recommending that we allow programs to stay resident in memory to speed up the machine?
... much like the standard PocketPC "Minimise, not close" behaviour that people seem to hate so much?
LMFAO if so! (and please tell me I'm wrong if not! )

SiliconS,
You are absolutely wright.
The proof is that after making the registery editing the application when opened for the first time it does not open on a faster way than the original settings, but when you open it for the second time it opens faster that the first time.
The appications remain opened in the phone memory and reduces the devices memory and the battery life as well.

Microsoft's WM5 development team must be LTFAO when they read stuff like this. People spend hours complaining and looking for ways of forcing the system to properly close apps using MagicButton or PocketPlus, and complain when their WM5 machine runs slow.
Then someone comes along offering a way of speeding things up by caching programs and files in memory!!
Am I the only person who thinks this is utterly bizarre?
Oh, man. MS must be laughing at us. :shock:
(No offence intended to anybody - I'm just amused by this. )

So, if you are running something like GSPocketMagic, Magic Button, etc, which actually close applications properly, all you are doing is reducing the amount of memory available to run programs with no gain whatsoever?

Well I made the changes and found no improvement in speed, but it was worth a try. In the light of what has been said, I'd like to change back the settings, but can't remember what they were!!!!!
Can someone post up the original values please

Here they are:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\FATFS\CacheSize=0
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\FATFS\EnableCache=1
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\Filters\fsreplxfilt\ReplStoreCacheSize=0

Many thanks - all sorted

Guys, these registry hacks work! If you haven't been able to get them to work you may have missed a step or two.
First of all, Windows Mobile 5 already holds running information in the RAM, so these tweaks do not truly change that but they do enhance it to make the WM5 device runs MUCH better.
I've have had a TON of people comment and e-mail me about these changes both on my site and many others about how well these tweaks work. In fact, I don't think that the developer of Tweaks2k2 would include that in his latest version if it didn't work.
Couple things; you have to either cycle the power on your WM5 device or do a soft reset from a software app only! Cycling the power will write anything in RAM to ROM, in this case the registry settings you have just changed. If cycling does not work you should soft reset your device using a software app. I think there are a couple free apps to do that but you can also use SPB's Pocket Plus or others. If you just hit the reset button on the back after making the changes it soft resets right away without writing RAM content to ROM.
You can check this by looking at your registry settings after a soft reset to see if the changes took.
I have still noticed that sometime after a reset my device will still run slowly but it isn't because of these changes. In fact, most of the time it is perfectly fine and MUCH better than it was before the changes. MUCH!
Be sure to also turn off error reporting and do the activesync hack to keep those from draining battery and you should do well.
Again, many have made these changes and seen a very significant improvement in performance.

WM5.o Compatible close button needed!

has anybody come across a one button close all application for WM5.0? Spb 3.0.1 is too slow on WM5 and Wisbar Advance 2.4.....is also too much for what is needed. Something like Magicbutton but written for WM5.0 would br nice, nothing that requires much memory, but something that enables the closing of running apps without having to go into start/settings/system/memory...etc.
Wouldn't it be nice if Microsoft had just written in that piece of code, as they are well aware that since PPC2000, that every application opened, remains so unless you manually close it down in memory (therefore hogging memory resources!) :evil:
Well if anyone knows of a WM specific solution, please do share.

I added couple files which they are usefull for you and they include the closeall app.
Install the cab files you'll see the close all, Reset and Running programs, which they can be clicked from the systray directly, after the installation they require a soft reset or else you go to Start>Programs>System open TrayLaunch and press Enable
GSPocketMagic++ is the most stable program I've tried. You need to put some amended bitmaps in to get it to integrate with WM5 but it works well...

sub69: I don't know what kind of coding they used in that software you recommended, but it has boosted refresh rates and performance in general by at least 30%!! I know this sounds crazy but it's true! My opinion has completely changed about the speed of the Jasjar. It seriously Rocks! I couldn't care less if it doesn't stay this way, because it shows me conclusively, that future ROMs' will probably address the issues I have had thus far.
I needed this. Thanks a bunch sub69; best link I've had with regards to Universal software.
OK 1 gripe only: I've lost my two soft buttons on the bottom bar (any ideas?). It comes back and stays operational after a soft reset, but as soon as I use the 'close all' option of the program, I loose the soft keys! Damn..there's always a hitch!
Another positive though, the speed boost remains even after I have exited the program and revert to standard WM5.0 launcher!
P.S. I had at least 12 programs running simultaneously with no slow downs at all and 15 megs of Memory still available (tried to run out of memory, But couldn't). Very pleased at the moment, this is what I was expecting from the HTC Universal!! I'll test extensively before I comment further.
Thanks again sub69, u da Man!!
Mental...I didn't realise it was that good!?!
Not sure about the soft buttons, although come to think of it I have noticed they've disappeared a couple of times. Must've been when I hit "Close All" too?
Glad I could help, anyway. Do let us know how things go...

Still cannot believe it!! It's still going strong. Sussed the soft button thingy:Under start (GSPocket)/options/settings...uncheck the 2 tabs for'use exten task close' & 'Use Today skin'. That's it. It runs absolutely perfectly for me & with no need for amended bitmaps too! It fits right in wih my red or blue border themes (I only use my own jpegs now instead of themes - in the hope that I get no performance issues.....so far so good). Under menu settind tab I only select close all & setting (which gives me quick access to all settings in WM5.0..personal & system) and under 'click' tab I leave it as default 'Menu'. I'm so impressed with this software, I didn't think non-specific WM5 software coul be this good!
That site you recommended is also tops!
This software is so good that I must put up a new thread to inform all of your wonder find. I just hope all who try it get the same experience I'm getting. Thanks again sub69....I don't even feel the need for the next ROM update/grade...though I won't be turning it away.
Hmmm, not sure why you're that stunned. I'm finding it just fine - but certainly no faster than my JJ runs under PocketPlus 3.01, and the non-VGA graphics are a real step backwards. Anyone know how to solve this?
You mention a speed improvement; can you clarify: Before this, how long did it take to rotate the screen, and how long does it take now?

That's the file you need to download for the Jasjar, then if you have an SD card reader, you can transfer it directly to it and install the .cab file by selecting it! If you don't have a card reader, let's hope you have a bluetooth dongle, as it's a small file then you can bluetooth it over. However if you have no problems with your activesync connection, just use that to dump the .cab file on your storage card somewhere or into 'My Documents' on the jasjar.
It's not complicated.

Yep, using it myself now - but no speed change over PocketPlus (even after hard reset to remove PP). Using it cos I like menu and PP didn;t offer all that much more that other apps don;t give me.

New to XDA EXEC

Hello one and all.
I have been looking at this forum for about 1 week and i'm still none the wiser. This may be because I have no idea what im doing and I am a little worried about making rom changes as I have no experinace of this.
I have a 02 exec. Which i am happy with but its a bit slower than I thought it would be. The phone seams to mess around when answering.
I have booted it up as normal on the basic setting.
A few questions that I have :-
What is the best setting to boot up on basic or corperate with the code ?
What reg changes are critical to boost performance ?
Any Software that I should get for the Xda ?
VGA settings do I need to change them ? What effect does it have.
Any advise would be good. If it could be given in a format my 2 year old could understand that would be good for me.
Thank you in advance
You'll find a wealth of information on each of your questions by browsing & searching the posts already on this forum.
thanks moandal that's why I posted.
1 post says basic setup another say corporate. 1 post says hack this that and the other. another says not to.
I'm new to pocket pc.
these forums do not make it clear what is best.
example radio version 1.06 or 1.08 at least 3 posts on here saying each one is better than the other. I have no idea.
all I was asking for is some guidance as to which set up has worked best for people.
@CRJL you've one up on me mate - I did not even know this thing had two modes!!!
BTW, why is that? Someone mentioned somewhere a corporate password - how to enter this & why would I want it.
BTW CRJL, I agree with you, these little devices are very confusing, espcially because the front end software (WM5) is soooooooo labourious!
Andy
when you hard reset the thing. after all the rom stuff loads up it gives you the choice of basic set up or corporate. it selects basic automatically after 20secs.
if you tell it corporate then you have to put the code 0506 in. this the uninstalls some stuff off the exec. you loose mms and all the gprs an 3g settings for conecting to the net. (i don't know what else it does) some of the people in the forums say it makes the exec faster. I could not really notice any difference.
you loose a few applications as well.
until I learn more I'm staying in basic.
I find these forums are for more advanced users so the simple questions tend to get missed. (im talking abot my first post) still not had a reply answering my questions

for this you should first make a hard reset (carefull, with hard reset you will loose all data!) by pressing both app buttons and reset at the same time.
When it starts up, after the installation countdown shows up you should make a reset to stop the automatic setup.
Now you have a machine, which is only basic setup. See how you like the things in there.
After you now enough about this, you can make same hard reset again and start the corporate setup. Then see, how you like this setup.
After this do same with basic setup.
In total you have then an idea, what you can have with the 3 different setups.
Now you can decide, which of the 3 setups you want to start with. After this, you should read the posts about Extended Rom, how to unlock it, which programs are in there etc. Then you get an idea for example how to install some software in the basic setup.
Also, you can add some programs from other Roms. For example I have an MDA Pro and I added the I-Mate Backgammon game to my setup.
Try out and see what customizations you want and need, which you do not want.

Basically, this does not really make difference. Forget about reg changes. Performance depends on running programs and setup - see above.
As far as I know, o2 installs some app in the basic setup, which makes the device slow. As I never tried o2 rom, I do not know, if this is true.

here also I recommend to try out the software and just keep the ones you like.
In total I would recommend you to create a directory on your PC where you put all the setup and cab files, which you want to have in your final setup. After trying out all, make a hard reset again and install the files from this directory. This prevents any junks to be left behind from your previous tries.

I think, you get more problems than it helps. Some programs appear too small on the screen. And when you make a Romupdate this does not work anymore.
I recommend not to install any VGA Patches. Instead just set the text size to more small and search in this forum for some registry hacks to change system font etc. and see if you like it, when the font is more small (this is good for Opera or PIE as you can view complete page!)
Nice reply, thanks mate!

Andy (thicky wicky Blacky wacky Adder)
thank you. I will give the 3 setups a go. I did read that if you soft reset before the counter that video calling does not work.
will give it a go and see what happens I'm sure there will be a cab file on here to sort it out.
anyone wishing to add any pearls of wisdom fee free. I'm learning more and more all the time.
app buttons: the buttons on the keyboard, which have changing functions. these functions are shown at the bottom of the screen. These buttons can be found to the right and left of the red and green call buttons on the keyboard.
about video calling: yes, this feature is installed after you switch on first your device. it is activated with one cab file. If you can find out which cab file this is, you can install it manually in the basic setup.

SKtools...To be or not to be...?

I guys,
I have this doubt floating in my mind since some time...
If I run all sktools regarding cleaning and registry optimization, such as:
-Clean!
-Optimize!
-Tune Up!
-Invalid Registry Entries
-Invalid Registry Values
-Advanced Clean
-Registry Optimizer
Can it happen that it will wrongly detect some tweaks or corrections made by the cookers as errors in the registry and then eliminate them?
For example, if a cooker changes a value in the registry key to optimize something, Sktools can "think" that it's an error, and then change the key to it's default value, eliminating the optimization done by the cooker...
Is this possible to happen? Or can I use safely the tools from SKtools?
Thankx
I would recommend against using anything like that as it is possible your remove keys that make your rom unstable. Advice is install and stay as you are!

What???
Off course errors/mistakes could happen, but I think that some registry tool is very needed, specially in Windows mobile...
I'm not sure but when this kind of tools search the registry, they only seek for errors in the connections or links.
So I don't think they will delete any tweaks done by the cooker if the tweak is working good.
I use this software to clean up,remove stuff,optimize,tweaks etc... and I have never had any issues whatsoever,if you ask me it works like a charm that´s why I bought it and my xda is really stable all the time.
These are the features I use the most.
-Clean!
-Optimize!
-Tune Up!
-Advanced Clean
-Registry Optimizer
Once I flash I use "Tune up" to change the PIE cache location,cookies,history,messaging files etc....after this "optimize" for better perfomance/stability/memory it´s up to you.Once I´ve done installing apps I use "Clean" and that´s it.
It does remove needed registry keys/values, can't give a specific example tho, you better examine the list of items to be deleted one by one before actually deleting them completely.
The only thing I use from SKTools is FreeRAM.
Sorry.
To me looks like it works well.....I´m sure it´s my lack of knowledge,but when I set it up that way with sktools and it seems to work so well,that´s why I mentioned that.
So..... I've just installed a new rom, an before installing anything else, I installed SKtools, and made a search for Invalid Registry Entries, and it found a couple of them (around 6 or 7).
Is it possible that a ROM is cooked with registry errors already inside?...Or could it be that SKtools is not that reliable...?
And, should I delete those registry strings or not?
Bye
So, no comments/thoughts about this???....
Strange....

You better not delete any registry entries untill or unless you know what it's for. Say for example, if you see that these are coming from a programme that you have uninstalled from your phone, you can close your eyes and delete those. Even that also sometime is bad because, lot of them may be shared with other system stuffs.
I have found some blank registry entries and deleted them, later when I have rebooted the trinity, I had some strange errors(I forgot). Anyway, it don't bring any gains in cleaning registries for fast booting of system, but temporary locations or IE cache to increase your available memory yes.
The basic purpose of a registry cleaning(applicable for pc also!) is that , if there is any error message after booting up your system, or some special errors coming from a particular programme after it launches(depends on the message it gives!) , in that case, it could have been good to run those kind of registry cleaner stuffs.
So you can leave them.
I agree with Provat,
I would say that you have to be aware about what you want to remove.
I use SKtoll too but now I must be careful on what I do with that because on the past I have removed lot of things and the only solution was hard reset.
Nevertheless it's a good tool and it improves a lot. Personnaly, I only use "optimize for performance" option.

I used SKtools to uninstall Google Maps and didn't scroll thru the results as I usually do. It virtually left my memory card void. All I had left was a shell of a rom...none of the shortcuts worked...all my files were gone. I had to use a recovery program to get most of it back...I still ain't right. I wanted to use their cleaning tool...it came back with so many results and I thought about what happened and just canceled it. I'll stick Memmaid unless someone can tell me the proper cleaner settings for SKtools.

WIMP - Where Is My Phone

Hey Guys,
I posted this in the Kaiser thread. It works brilliantly on my Ameo too.
Here's the first post from:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=332324
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I’ve found a mint piece of software that no Kaiser owner should be without.
It comes with a trial period and u should check it out.
I was looking for some software that would help secure my phone and came across this. http://www.wimp-software.co.uk)
It’s supposedly designed to help you find your phone (yeh right, I aint gonna lose my £500 phone) but me and my mate have had a **** load of fun with it.
It’s pretty cool.
If you read the instructions, you can basically text the phone, but the other person doesn’t get the text message. The software grabs this coded text message and sends you back the gps position of the phone. It also gives you a link to google maps which is great if you’ve got Opera installed on your phone. (Don’t try PIE, it doesn’t work)
I gotta say, I’ve seen a lot of cool software around, but this one is SO cool. I only wish my girlfriend had a Kaiser. I could have so much fun with this.
The only thing I would add to the software though, is to know I was being WIMPED. Maybe a little SMS noise, or the icon changed or something, but I do suppose that it was written for phone theft. I haven’t tried it yet, but it also claims that if you change the SIM card in the phone it’ll SMS you with the number of the new SIM card.
this is a great find. thanks
Yes, this is a fantastic idea. However, the implication on our privacy is something to think about very seriously. Yes, it does protect our phone from theft and lost.
Can it be uninstalled or removed by a hard reset.?
Yes, it can be uninstalled, and yes it will be removed by a hard reset.
HOWEVER, pop it into your External Rom and the above two things become insignificant.
That's very true.
or cook it into a rom, doesnt help if they re-flash though...
Mobile Justice
http://sourceforge.net/projects/mjustice
Does the same, is freeware, works without problems on My athena WITHOUT bottom bar at 128 DPI (WINP shows no ICON)
The easiest way could be to cook it into a ROM and put the config file into an unlocked EXTERNAL ROM.
This is needed because a config file is requested, so, even if you cook mobile justice into the rom, you can't cook the config file (it needs your password, your SIM number and your phone number to report at..)
Then you can config your phone and even in case of an hard reset, without the thieft knowledge of the SW, it will restart and it reads the config file into the external ROM

We would have to assume that 99.9% of the guy having our phones does not know anything about flashing. This is a reasonable assumption I think.
Having even 80% chances of getting back a lost phone is already not bad.

Agree with this. Even having the config file on the MicroDrive might work, if this could be built into the ROM to look there by default. Don't know if that's possible. Yes, you could erase the Microdrive but this would take more research than the usual thief might be willing to make...
WIMP says it will send a Google Maps link, will Mobile Justice do that? Seems like MJ is actually more configurable.

WIMP says it will send a Google Maps link, will Mobile Justice do that? Seems like MJ is actually more configurable.

MJ send GPS info in some formats, and have NO ICON on home screen. And a guy having in his hands a phone like this the first thing he search on google is HOW TO HARD RESET THE DEVICE Without a config file in ROM (on on microdrive I agree, but when you hard reset the ATHENA he asks "do you want to format the microdrive?" Having a stolen one the answer will be always YES!
Moreover is FREE, so I think no problems, asking to author, to put it into the ROM and to modify the registry key for config file to have it on external rom. The problem is.. could we have a PK3.0 with External Rom unocked as default?

I don't recall being asked about reformatting the MicroDrive on hard reset... But having it in external rom would certainly be a viable approach. This would be a nice feature for PK3.0
Has anyone got MobileJustice working??
I can send a message but the GPS feature doesn't work. Anyone??
I tried mobileJustice and it didnt work for me either

So... I also tried WIMP and no love there, either. Even "heated up" GPS first. Thoughts, anyone?

WIMP worked for me second time out - had to increase the GPS timeout from 3 mins to 10 (I haven't yet tried any intermediate settings).

COM4, 38400, GPS TImeout 10, Max Satellites 6
The only way to works well it's integrating it in the rom, cause if its stolen the first thing that can do is change the rom
New Version on their website.
V1.2 includes various stealth options.
Wouldn't it be great if we could tell the program to draw the thiefs attention (eg an alarm) and when the person reacts to this alarm have it make a photograph with the front camera, which could be send through mms or e-mail... Then you would know who to look for when you arrive at the GPS coordinates with your baseball bat...

I'm tired of enduring the vsync disabled!

hi all,
Sorry for my bad english...
During scroll or when i play in game or when i watch a video, i have the "breaks" of crappy, this is very very irritating for me ! I don't understand why everyone ignores this.
The only thing I find on the web is this: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=500499
After search in keys reg, i found this:
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\Drivers\Display\Settings\ILCDC]
"VisibleDisplayHeight"=dword:000001E0
"VisibleDisplayWidth"=dword:00000320
"DataEnInvertSignal"=dword:00000000
"VsyncInvertSignal"=dword:00000000
"HsyncInvertSignal"=dword:00000000
"VsyncFrontPorchLns"=dword:0000001B

"HsyncFrontPorchDclk"=dword:00000051
"HsyncBackPorchDclk"=dword:00000051
"HsyncPulseWidthDclk"=dword:0000003C
"ID"="4.3in WVGA Optrex"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\Drivers\Display\Settings\ILCDCgordon]
"VisibleDisplayHeight"=dword:00000280
"VisibleDisplayWidth"=dword:000001E0
"DataEnInvertSignal"=dword:00000000
"VsyncInvertSignal"=dword:00000000
"HsyncInvertSignal"=dword:00000000
"VsyncFrontPorchLns"=dword:00000002
"VsyncBackPorchLns"=dword:00000002
"VsyncPulseWidthLns"=dword:00000002
"HsyncSkewDclk"=dword:00000000
"HsyncFrontPorchDclk"=dword:00000021
"HsyncBackPorchDclk"=dword:00000090
"HsyncPulseWidthDclk"=dword:0000003C
"ID"="VGA Sharp Gordon"
You know exactely where i can activate the vsync ?
Thx
Well, no answers ...
Yet you are all concerned! This didn't embarrasses you not?
To illustrate the problem, see:

I saw this too,but it happens only when I slide open the phone in some apps.
I have same problem in my x2,and can't find any way to solve it ,I search vsync in registry,change 0 to 1,but it also ''screen tearing''
ps,x1 seem not has this problem...
What can we do to solve this?
Sorry to my bad english.
Warning: I have placed only the non-HTC tweaks here and HAVE NOT TESTED THEM YET. Any changes you apply or programs you use will be at your own risk!
I would have tested this already if I could but I will only be able to after a few days when I get my new X2 (again). I just wanted to give possible solutions besides turning on Vsync.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Activating VSync only will not solve your problem because screen tearing is usually caused by a combination of bad video and file access configuration.
To answer your request here is what I found for the VSync registry location (please confirm this):
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\Display\LCDC]
"Vsync"=dword:1
And here is a list of possible tweaks for the X2:
Original post by g.lewarne is: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=629388.
Change:
HKLM/System/GDI/GLYPHCACHE To: 524288 (change both keys in there)
This allows for much smoother font rendering, especially when scrolling
Change:
HKLM/System/StorageManager/Filters/fsreplxfilt/ReplStoreCacheSize To: 131072
This creates a filesystem 128k sector cache filter, improves data throughput from ROM to RAM (probably) and does seem to improve indexing response and file browsing.
EDIT: file explorer just loaded my “Windows” directory in half a second with this enabled , and the screen does not tear when scrolling the list either any more
Change:
HKLM/Drivers/Display/VMMaxHeapSize To: 33554432
This changes the VideoMemory max heap from 16k to 32k
Change:
HKLM/Drivers/Display/Settings/SMI2 AllocSizeMB To: 32
Change:
HKLM/System/GDI/Drivers/Bpp To: 24
Now this IS interesting. I dont know if its just me, but were HTC holding out on us display wise? Changing the BitsPerPixel (colourdepth) from 16 to 24bit, for some reason, whether the display is actually capable of true colour or not, not only MAKES THE SCREEN LOOK BETTER but its also FASTER

Finally a tool for boosting graphics:
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=509704
Can somebody test the above a provide a feedback thru all the points Xareth suggested us?
I'm not able to do this my X2 is not available for a a month or so.
Who is coming up with these crappy settings? Most of them are NONEXISTENT in my X2!!! And many of the rest are already much higher!
This is not a HTC phone and has no such hardware and NOT most of those HTC specific windows registry settings a HTC phone has.
Please post only registry settings and changes of such, which are existing in the X2.
Thank you!
I agree.
I think all that Xareth says, comes from the HD2... But I tried to add the non-existent keys => nothing !
And i have already tried GfxBoost, NeoS2007 and SpeedBooster, this hasn't solved the problem.
I think that without hardspl, nobody knows anything do
What happens when you try to help and warn in CAPITALS that you have not tested it.
Thank you all for your replies to my post above.
First of all, really sorry to have disappeared but I have entered a new job and have been busy as heck to reach a stable setup.
Even though the testing of the reg keys failed, I am happy that it at least has gotten us closer to finding a solution since we found out they did not work
What next? Well, what else! Gotta try to find other ways. This time I can test since I have my X2 and am using it regularly.
@lo: don't give up, don't assume it's the end! I am now checking if it has to do with the SD card access (delayed reading).
@michaelthemage: I know you are frustrated and want a working answer at once, but:
1. this is a community forum not a support centre so don't assume I or anyone else is making up any crappy settings. We're just trying to find the right answers.
2. and yes, I can make mistakes just like you or anyone else. For example you did not read my first line saying I did not test the settings since I did not have a device to test with! Demanding much?
3. I don't think we can limit things to X2 only registry settings because first of all, it's not out there in the open to know which settings are only for X2! I removed the obvious HTC reg keys and went on from there. I think that is the next best thing to finding an answer, instead of hitting a dead end. I ask you to also try to find an answer or at least post something more constructive.
4. Sony previously worked with HTC (HTC was making the components for previous Sony devices) and therefore it is logical there may be some HTC keys which are applicable. I will tell you right now many fixes that work for HTC work for the X2! Have you ever wondered why? Of course I may be wrong too but I'm trying to find out if I am!
5. Let's go on to hardware. Many smartphone manufacturers are only integrators. Even HTC buys its parts from another company in China. So don't tell me it does not have similar hardware to HTC until you have opened both companys' phones and confirmed (which I have btw, the opening not the confirming). It's like saying LG Laptops do not have LCD screens like Samsung Laptops when Samsung manufactures the LCDs for LG.
Get a life!
Dude, I don't have the time nor inclination to answer this crap in several paragraphs. Still these reg settings are crap and somebody posting this crap is responsible if any noob applies them and screws up their phones. That is the crap! That's it!
