Moving SMS Messages - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 General

Hi Guys!!
I just bought the magician and, so far, i'm quite happy with it.
I used a Nokia 6600 and had a small 64 mb mmc card with loads of info and messages.
is there anyway to copy or move these SMS's from one to the other???
Cheers..

what you could try is get jeyo mobile extender for outlook and sync your nokia to outlook. i remember for my symbian phones i used an about called .mobile from sygic. anyway after you sync your messages to outlook sync your jam and it will copy them over.

Thanks!!!
I'm about to give it a go, will let you know the results.
I'm just having a bit of a nightmare connecting the 6600 to the bluetooth gizmo on my Pc, but there's nothing a good kick in the scrren wont do!
Cheers!

Transfering old SMS messages from Blue Angel to Wizard

Hey everyone hopeful that i'll be able to get an answer from yourselves regarding something that is really a deciding factor in me getting a Wizard to replace my Blue Angel or sticking it out with my Blue Angel for a while longer.
I have about 15000 text messages on my Blue Angel all organised into folders etc within the inbox/sent mail and such and it would be essential to transfer them to any new phone I got. I was wondering how this would be possible, I'm not sure on how they are stored whether WM stores them in a file that will be transferable literally by moving it across from one phone to the other or not. Anybody know how this works?
Thanks for your help folks - really looking forward to maybe getting one of these phones.
Hey!!!!
Use Jeyo Mobile Companion Prog on PC...u can back up first and then restore on yr wizard.,,,
hey phil did this work for u ?
Why on earth would you want to keep 15000 text messages?!?!?
Well I purchased a tornado, so I can't say for sure, but it worked for that... If it worked on the smartphone version I'd imagine it would definetely work on the full version of WM5, and there is still loads of space on the storage!
My only loss is that there is no way to have sub folders on my texts now... I'm slightly gutted about having 15000 odd messages in an inbox, becomes pointless if they aren't organised into groups.
I use Jeyo but yes it does not do sub folders which is annoying
i did email them and they did say this would be implemented soon
I've just hit 1000 sms msgs so its nice to keep a backup just like emails but in folders would be even better.
goes in outlook using the jeyo outlook extender or you can use the jeyo companion and that is a standalone program.
i use both but mainly jeyo with outlook

someone in other post as said that doesn't work on wm5 devices..
it's true?
nope thats wrong.
I have used it for 6 months. The only hassel i had is after i installed my pc and outlook every time again i got a different hardware ID. So i used to write to Jeoy everytime i reinstalled my system to get my valid copy to work.
Sometimes the addon hangs and crashes Outlook but this are minor bugs. Nice tool so far, i have missed it to backup up my last sms. Oh and you can send sms out of the pc if the PDA is connected via active sync.
I recommend that tool.

Falk
Fantastic!
it works! many many many thx
Also works with some "cosmetic error messages":

Backup symbian contacts and restore to windows mobile device

Hello,
Is it possible to transfer contacts and sms text messages from a symbian device (nokia 6600) to a windows mobile device? (Htc Trinity)
I found enough programs to do it, but all of them are for symbian OR windows mobile, but not both...
Anyone has an idea?
Regards,
Donald.
I know what you mean, dont suppose the Nokia can be made to output data that can be read by Outlook? In which case dump the lot to outlook, then dump it back to the Trinity, et voila.
Otherwise see if it can be saved in some form of common standard... PLain text, CSV etc.
Sorry not much help otherwise
Use Nokia PC Suite to sync the Nokia phone to Outlook, then Active Sync to do Outlook to the Trinity.
Or save the contacts to the SIM on the Nokia, then import from the SIM on the Trinity.
I'll try that
Thanks, i'll try that, but i don't know if outlook can read the sms text messages from the phone, we will see...
Thanks for the tips,
Regards,
Donald.
Importing SMS into WinMob is not straight forward.
But you will very probably have to start by finding a Symbian app that can export to CSV (a generic spreadsheet type format).
FYI, Yahoo Mail is quite good at converting formats!

or..... Bluetooth.....? MInd if you have alot to shift might take some time, but it's worth a punt?
Hi there,
have you checkt Smart GSM for windows mobile? That let's you sync your Nokia with the Trinity. For me it work very well with my old 8910!!! (I'am on WM6)
I'll gonna check smartgsm, if it works i'll let you know...
Thanx for all the suggestions.
SmartGSM
SmartGSM didn't work, it just won't connect to my nokia 6600 (symbian based phone) neither through infrared or bluetooth...
Let's search for an app that can import sms text messages and export it to a format windows mobile can read...
Any idea? anybody?

Outlook SMS Sync Software?

Any available?
I bought Jeyo a long time back but it does not seem to work with my Topaz - only detects the last 3 msgs and as soon as you want Sent Items downloaded...Outlook crashes.
Jeyo are not sure if they are still in business it seems so you just get fobbed off by them.
Then there's PocketExport. Installed the trial version, detects device but no SMS logs etc.
Thanks!
OK so the Jeyo Companion DOES see the msgs...it's just outlook that does not.
I'm going to put it down to potentially 64bit, Office 2007 SP2, Windows 7, Touch Diamond 2 or all 4
Previous successful attempt was with a HTC Diamond 1, Office 2007 SP1, 32bit, and Windows Vista
Hello!
I use this, is verry good Mobile Archiving - sms and call detail archiving.
MobileArchiver integrates the most widely-used communication methods - SMS messaging, email, and calls - into Outlook, one of the most widely used applications. MobileArchiver keeps a history of your SMS messages and call details in Outlook so you always know who contacted you and when.
Downloading now!
Thanks for that - I actually got the PocketExport working with help from their support guys - it turns out that even though I am connected via cable, you need to set PE to Bluetooth and reboot the machine.
It synced up fine soon after the reboot though it then crashed Outlook until I removed the hone.
The other downside is the "From" field is blank unlike Jeyo which had it populated
From the screenshots of your suggestion, it looks to be populated. Wish me luck!
I use True connect from rasberry software, paid for it about 4 years ago and never looked back. I use it every day, however sometimes it does crash outlook 2007, but I just restart the program and it comes back. Also allows you to control your phone using pc keyboard & mouse.
Now that WinMo 6.5 is out i am having issues with TrueConnect. SMS msg remains in outbox folder, and according to support it has something to do with threaded sms
Any of u bright minds have a solution ?
/Smirge
I've now gone over to the dark side and got myself an iPhone
Just got fedup of the inherent issues with the diamond2 - most of which I managed to live with but the aftersales just did it for me!
However, I was running 6.5 until the bitter end and bought [email protected]'s suggstion of MobileArchiving
It was by far one of the best solutions I have seen for SMS and Outlook - something I forgot to say thanks to for the suggestion so apologies for that!
Might be worth trying it out (i think they give you a 15-30 day trial on their site)
Had no issues with 6.5 and that was during the beta stage!
Thanks Akash_84.
I've got an Iphone... wonderfull!!
Do you know a way to export sms from a Diamond to an Iphone??
Thanks in advanced!

My GF had a Nokia, and I was able to select all of the contacts, then sned them via Bluetooth to the X1 she had, so I'm guessing that method would work also.

Ergh, the Blackberry Bluetooth system is appalling, and people complain about the BT stack on our devices!
Sonik1 - No problem, took me a while to find it, so glad it helped you too!
