MDA Compact (1) Ram Upgrade 128 MB - Problem resolved !!! - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 General

Some days ago I received back my MDA Compact (1) with the upgrade of the Rom to 128 MB. When I connected the MDA to my pc it is not able to connect to the usb port. It says the usb is not propperly installed and I can not use the ActiveSync software for sync.
Does somebody know how to handle with this problem?
I already spent many hours reading through the whole forum and I did a new installation of my pc and tried also with my other removeable harddrives, but always I get this problem with the usb. All other usb drivers and equipment does work without any problem. I thought that mybe a usb.cab (?) upgrade for that port is probably necessary for windows mobile to run???
Another problem: I tried also to connect via Bluetooth, but I can not configure the com-port, because I can not see the com-ports in the list. I can receive files via Bluetooth (I do use the Bluefritz! Dongle). But how can I use on the mobile phone this ports? I use windows mobile 2003 (second edition).
Thanks in advance

Did you do a hard reset? That might clear things up.

Hi,
I have the same problem with the bluetooth com ports.
The list where you should choose the bluetooth com port is empty.
So I can't connect to ActiveSync via bluetooth.
A hard reset didn't solve the problem.
Thanks in advance

MDA Compact (1) Ram Upgrade 128 MB - USB - Problem resolved
Hi to all,
now I am happy, my MDA works perfectly. I had to send the MDA back to the company who did the upgrade because of the USB-Problem. There was something they had broken and it needed to be repaired.
But now everything works fine !!!
Good luck to all who want to do the same upgrade.

widcomm stack ... HELP

hey everyone
need help ...
whenever i install widcomm stack on my o2 mini and try to switch on the bluetooth it says " not enough driver memory "
what does it mean ??
my rom version is 1.03.00 WWE
radio version is 1.01.00
ext rom version is 1.03.166 WWE
Hi morphosin,
this means what it says: your (as well as every other) JAM hasn't enough memory (to load the widcom bluetooth driver). Sad but true: There's no known way to get this stack (with it's nice features and advantages over the MS stack) running on our little helpers. Maybe some day... [dream mode on]
HTH,
BGK
P.S.: If you use the search-function of this forum you'll get a lot of futher infos...

Should i upgrade my Universal's ROM ?

Hi all,
I have a i-mate JasJar and some know issues as memory bug, wireless problem and other things:evil::evil:.
My question is: should i upgrade my JasJar with QTEK or XDA rom ?
If yes, is this possible or it will avoid the warranty ?
Thanks a lot.
Nico
Hi Nicoska
I got a Qtek 9000 and I don't have any problem with memory bug or wireless :?: What kind of problem do you have :?:
For your warranty, I'd say 'yes', your are going to lose it... except if you flash your original ROM back if you need to send your JasJar where you bought it
Thanks for the quick reply.
Can you tell me where i can find a good guide or how to do the rom upgrade/backup ?
Wireless problem i mean that my bluetooth sometimes quit itself.
thanks a lot
Nico
Here is the Qtek 9000 ROM explanation
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=34552
Here is where the ROM are
ftp://xdaupload:[email protected]/Universal
But in your case, you should maybe update only the Radio part :?:
I use a Logitech bluetooth headset everyday, I've never lost my connection to it...
Rom and Radio update guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=32725
Read everything carefully first
Thanks, i'll read.
bye
nico
Sorry, but if i upgrade my radio and extended rom, can i still use my italian mobile card ?
thanks
nico
Qtek are not locked.... and my SIM card neither...
What about your Italian card :?:
Sorry, I'm not 100% sure about that :?

Can I upgrade my MDA Compact with this T-Mobile update?

Do you guys know whether I can update my MDA Compact with the following?:
http://t-mobile.iris-global.com/download_manager_mda_com.html
My Magician is a standard MDA Compact from T-Mobile UK. It is a year old and I updated it with the 1.11.00 WWE BigStorage ROM a while ago. I'm looking to sell it, and just wanted to return it to it's standard T-Mobile settings for the new seller.
Do I also need a card reader for this upgrade?
Many thanks

I think the new owner would appreciate the big storage as well.
Actually nevertheless everything stands in the description of T-Online in it. What is the question?

Yes you can use that update. It's a so called shipped-rom & needs to be executed on your PC. Just connect your magician with usb to your PC and allow act.sync to use the usb connection. Then execute the update program & follow what's on the screen.
But before you use this update make sure you got >8MB data in your storage folder otherwise you'll loose this folder completely.

Prophets WM 2005 to 2003
My understanding is that you can not downgrade prophet to WM 2003. I wanted to do the same. Just because WM 2005 is to slow comparing to Magician. Of cource its processors fault as well, but I wanted to see if it was going to be faster with previous WM.. I was tolled its not possible.. Different structure of the phone.

You can try that to sync over Wifi : http://www.airscanner.com/downloads/airfix/airfix.html
I never tried it but I assume it would be safer than a downgrade
If it works give us feedback!
Another work-around is register at http://live.mail2web.com/ for a free account.
Then assisgn this server also in Active Sync on your PC and PocketPC. After this you can sync via wifi with your pocketpc to mail2web.
Good luck!
Isn't bluetooth sync working for you?
I'm thinking the hole evening why somebody bought a new WM5 device if he want a WM2003 one? Why prophet not magician?

Solved: Some newbie questions about upgrading from WM2003 to WM6

Hi @all,
First of all I would like to thank all the xda-developers for their outstanding work, especially to Helmi.
I am thinking about upgrading my VPA III to WM6. It is a VPA III (PH20B2) from Vodafone Germany.
Before I continue in upgrading, could someone please answer me the following questions:
1. Can I use Helmis ROM to upgrade my device?
2. I did a backup of my ROM with the mtty-tool on sd-card. Is it possible to go back to the original ROM by using this sd-card, as far as I do not change the size of my ExtROM, by inserting it into the device and change into bootloader?
3. Is there a possibility to use my qwertz-hardwarekeyboard? (It is, found in the forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=326687)
4. Is there a german translation?
5. Can I use my BT-headset to use voicedial by using MS-VoiceCommand 1.6 (did not work under WM2003)?
Thanking you in advance
Peter
Is there anybody who can answer even one of my questions? The most important one is question numner 2.
Greetings
Peter
...
the answer is yes
Hi borjok536,
thank you for the answer. Does it mean "Yes" to all my questions or only "Yes" to question number two? I am still afraid of upgrading because the last time I did it I got massive problems with my bluetooth. I had to send my VPA to vodafone.
By the way: In all descriptions (wiki and forum) they all speak about PH20B1 or PH20B or PH20A1 but mine is a PH20B2. Does it make any difference?
Thank you
Peter
Hi All,
I too have a PH20B2. It's a Vodaphone UK V1620. Vodaphone often refuse to belive it exists when I speak to them!
I'd love to know if this ROM is safe to use with it.
Cheers,
Steve
Hi stevenw10,
unfortunately so far it is not save. I am thinking of going back to WM2003. I have Problems with WIFI, and GSM. Maybe someones has the same problems and solved it.

Vodafone will not support WM6 on your phone; also will not support WM5.
Its safe to use, but isn't perfect; nor isn't WM2003.

I don't have any of your problems with WiFi or GPS

I realise that Vodaphone won't support anything other than WM2003/SE.
What I didn't realise, before I bought it, is that they don't really want to support the hardware at all!
I have rung them and told them I have a Vodaphone V1620 and they have said to me 'that phone does not exist'!
Not really what I call good support.

You're running an XDA IIs which is the standard PH20B and not a PH20B2 like me and linuxpete.
Anyone else tried a PH20B2?
Steve
Yes me. I installed WM6. I will keep it. I still got the problem with BT and Voice Command. I can't hear any announcements form VC through my Headset. Anyway in WM2003 this wasn't (and couldn't) working either. I also got problems with my GSM. I must manually connect to GSM 900 MHZ (Vodafone Germany). With GSM 1800 MHZ everything wokrs fine (I use a dual-sim-adaptor). I can live with it.
Greetings
Peter
That's great news Peter!
I'm off to try it now.
Steve
