I-Mate K-JAM vs Qtek 9100

Is there any obvious reason why the K-JAM is about £60 ($108) more expensive than the 9100? I'm assuming they're either made in the same factory or the same "blueprints" are given to each company to make the device. If this is the case then I'm guessing I-Mate is just playing off of it's well established brand name... or maybe there are just some software differences.
Thoughts?

The only thing I can think of is the support you get from I-mate. Now I know its not great but have you tried to find an English support site for the QTEK..

TBH I've not been able to work out what the 'offical' qtec site is... They all seem to be too naff to be a corprate site.

Still - I have to say the lack of web site etc has convinced me that the extra £50 or so and 1 year warrenty instead of 2 is worth it in the long run so I'll probably get an Imate.

I've ordered the Qtek from above back when it was only £400 (they raised the price by £10 pre-tax!).
Hrm, £449.99 for a K-JAM, thats a very good price indeed. If I trusted that Amazon would get stock early I'd probably change my order.

the more i think about it, i would prefer to get the i-mate k-jam, due to the availability of support.
with this type of product you are more likely to have a software problem than a hardware problem, two years is great but probably not as useful as support.
i still cannot find on-line support for qtek in english
note for rookery, do you know anyone in the UK who could order and post to you? that way no import duty cause it's a gift.

Thats excluding VAT.
£349*1.175 = £410.075 -> £410.08
I doubt you could get them to ship it internationally/ avoid VAT.

Yes, it will cost £349 + £35 shipping around HK5500 when it ship to me, earlier, i think this device will only cost USD4xx, but now it cost much than that, reconsider to get one or not, for me, HK5500 for just a phone, not so reasonable, Thanks for the information

Amazon is good but they don't indicate when they will get stock !! If you are a patient person for a new PDA then it's worth waiting at least a month or so before buying as the price always drops.
If your anything like me though waiting a couple of months after release would be detrimental to my health :lol: .
Imagine , you are walking down the road one month after release on your nokia because you sold your Jam to fund your new K-Jam, you turn the corner and there is a guy chatting away on his brand new K-Jam :shock: Nooooooo !!! I'd rather eat Liver :wink:

While I truly appreciate your efforts, jah, man, don't you think the postage to the US is a bit too high? I could stomach $55 via FedeX (ala Expansys UK) to the US but that would be in dollars and not UK Sterling.

Well yeah, it would certainly be cheaper than the $950 you paid for the JasJar. Although, if you know someone in the UK, the Exec can be had for under $620 which is a brilliant price.
Still a good deal for most Americans.

@dreamtheatre, O2 told me I couldn't buy any more Smartphones from them (I have a XDA Exec, Nokia 9500, Treo 650 & SE K750!). But I managed to persuade them and I know people in the US (and elsewhere) are keen to get the Universal in O2 colours! I know people here would really appreciate a device like this. Good luck with your Qtek!

@monakh, sorry man for the P&P but its the only way I can recover the high costs of using eBay and PayPal (I provide a high level of protection through Paypal and therefore safer for buyers).

yes i can ship directly to new york for you. Will take about 4-5 days. Since i am not a store, i can't accept credit card, but you can pay via paypal through credit card, but you need to add 3% on top because of the paypal tax ( will pay to paypal, not me)
or you can use bank transfer.

i wouldn't say that is a rip off, that is actually quite close to the market price in asia, the reason why i can offer you guys only £600 is because my parents are direct reseller of DOPOD.
