I was looking to buy a memory card for my jas-jar and was surprised by this page on Kingston's site which says that it only supports 1GB maximum memory. Does anyone have a 2GB card here, anyone used it with their universal?
Kingston
I am using a 2Gb card no problems at all
could you tell me the company and other details of the SD card model etc?
I have a 150X 2GB ADATA SD CARD and works perfectly!! installed in an i-mate JASJAR. I bought it on ebay.
Same here, I am using a 2GB Sandisk Ultra (Black color) and no problems.
I'm Using 2GB Kingston ultimate X120 with no problem at all
Mine is 1 120x "hyper speed", "MAGU" brand card - works fine
I've read it working with a 4GB card also, worth googling to make sure.
Think I'll make that my next card if so, end of Jan.
On that point, it's ridiculous to think that my first hard drive was a massive 40MEGABYTE one in a 386 Amstrad.... here we are with something a hundred times that, the size of a postage stamp.
Madness, but GOOD madness....
My first SD card is a transcend 4GB card but I encountered problems with it. I can store and run applications normally on the 4GB card, but the camera application can't use the card as a means of storage. Thus off it went back for return. I bought the San Disk 2GB Ultra instead and never had any problems.
I can also confirm a working 2GB Ridata 150x SD working ok on my jasjar.
Had to reformat it on a pc the first time, tough, because straigth from the packaging, i only read 1gb capacity in the jasjar.
After formating, all's well!
Still, i didn't saw almost any speed increase...
I know that the device itself probably doesnt get to the top speed of the card, but...
Anyone else could post their toughts on what (if any) speed increases they had on their devices, as well as the cards brands and sizes?
4gb
mine's working fine with a 4gb transmedia card
When I inserts the SD card (Power Disk 1GB), he gets a question whether he wants to format the card so that the JAM will recognize it. If he chooses to format the card, he gets a message that it can not be done and he should reinsert the card or replace it.
I tried a different 1GB SD card and it did not work either. A 256 card worked fine. PL
Is the card write protected?
That little switch on the side

NO
No ..
maybe that brand of card is not compatible with JAM. Try common ones like Sandisk, Kingston, Transcend, Lexar, Panasonic those work without any issues. 2Gb and 4Gb cards are a problem as some will work and some won't.
The other thing is that the Powerdisk Card is faulty? have you tested it using a card reader or a digital camera?
hi, i have a question about SD cards. how can i test my 512 sd card (don't know brand, when i bought the S100 the card hadn't any stickers on it) to see its speed? is there any app? thanks!
you can use a tool from handango.com like Pocket Mechanic or SKTools
Hello everyone,

MMC card working
Hi,
I have A-Data 4GB Turbo MMCplus 200x card working in my Qtek9000, WM5/6!
So a 4gb SD works on the Universal?
Yep, I've got a 4gb sd card in my Universal and it works fine. As I understand it 4gb is the maximum.
I'm looking for 4 Gb miniSD/SD
But all the cards I see are the new SDHC class 2/6 sd2.0
I was under the impression that those won't work well/at all in the uni because it only supports sd1.1
SDHC will not work. However there are 4GB SD cards, probally the wrong side of the world for you, but here is where I bought my 4GB card.
Whats the maxmum supported memory card in a prophet? i have an orange SPV M600 and it won't read the 4GB card i have bought.
AFAIK some 4gb card are supported, maybe it depends on brand. Heard that apacer cards are ok.
Using a 2gb card so can't really test it
It does not depend on brand.
Some 4GB cards are SDHC (High Capacity). This format is not supported. Regular 4GB card should work.
ok thanks for that... didn't know myself....
