Ive got an O2 XDA which im using in Corporate mode. So it doesnt have any of the O2 customisations.
Im positive tho that it had a battery indicator on the home page.
This has now disapeared, any ideas ?
as i dont really have a clue when its running out
SPB gprs monitor will show 3 levels in it's icon, and battery is one of the default choices. Monitoring bandwidth usage is essential for me as I pay when I go over 40MB/month.
When tapped, the popup show the exact percentage, but you get the general idea all the time from the small icon one.
Same here, I suspect it is something to do with spb GPRS, always seems to mess the Today screen icons up.
ok i will check that out.
I dont think im running anything on there to monitor GPRS tho.
Have you looked down the back of the sofa?

I just installed pocket plus 3.1.2 on my Cingular 8125.
Works great, but has anyone noticed little grey bars across the very top of their screen?
They appear above the bar of the start menu, but not over the windows icon in the top left.
I uninstalled pocket plus and they disappear, reinstall it and they're there again.
It almost looks like the screen is mis-aligned or something.
Can anyone help?
thatd be a battery meter.. lol
That is the indicator to show the battery status.as the battery gets decreases ,so does that bar and now that you know and find it useful you can keep or uncheck the option by going to the settings by clicking the spb plus icon on the left side of today plugin then uncheck ` task bar battery indicator' or something like that option .
thanks guys, I feel so stupid........
appreciate your responses!
Jeff
Haha jeffreyapierce don't worry I thought the same thing when I installed it. As a matter of fact, I uninstalled it because of that bar and just realized like last month the bar is a battery meter and can be turned off.
Oh that's what that thing is. Been wondering that myself.....
At least I now know I can turn it off!!!!
I'll cough to not knowing that as well!
Thanks guys.
My unenlightenment went the other way. I once installed batti and could not find the bar. My battery was fully charged and my today plugin at the time was of the same color as the batti bar. I actually uninstalled and then reinstalled it trying to find the "bar" at the top of my screen. It wasn't until my battery drained a bit before I was able to see it. cough cough
got me too
when I first saw it I thought it was some kind of screen glitch. you are not alone.
I just find it amusing so many people didnt know what they were!
Hi, i got a problem with my Xperia and was wondering if im the only one... Its not major but its getting on my nerves... I get 2 battery indicators on my title bar... one next to the task manager (normal), and one on the leftmost side of any other icons present at any moment (bluetooth, wifi, etc)! I have SPB pocketplus installed (if it makes a difference i dont know), however i dont think this is the problem because when i restart my device, the second indicator is on the screen before pocketplus loads....
Anybody know what to do?
P.S Sometimes when i reset the phone, take out the battery for a while and pray it goes away.. but then after a while it comes back on!
This sounds like a software issue.
SPB PocketPlus includes a taskbar battery indicator. You need to turn this option off in from the systems tab under settings.
Hi all, I've actually been lurking on the forums for about half a week before making my first post and I must say this place is a pleasant place to be a part of.
I'm facing some nitty gritty issues with my HTC Maple that I'm hoping you guys could help me out with.
1. battery life
For some strange reason, the battery life on my phone is so poor. after a full charge, I left it on standby the whole night and in the morning the battery as down to 85%! I had no new mail or messages or anything. the only thing that I used the phone for was as a morning alarm.
2. key lock
This really annoys me. after locking the keys, the screen doesn't black out rightaway and if you so much as roll the trackball a millimeter, the screen will stay well and fully lit. not only that, if the phone manages to make it to a screen blackout, and in your pocket, any of the buttons in the top row (call, home, trackball, back, end call, and the two soft keys) get pressed accidentally in your pocket, the screen will also go to fully lit glory. it's terribly annoying. anyone have a solution to this?
thanks very much in advance for the help.
battery life
concerning your battery life : do you have wifi or bluetooth enabled ? do you have a gps app running in the background ? if not, there is definitly a problem with your battery or your phone. my snap lasts for about 5 days without charge if i don't use bt, wifi or gps.

setting your network to 3G will also drain your battery..just use gprs as your primary network, and use 3g if you are really need it.
And weak signal strength will make your phone work hard and this mean your battery will drain so fast too.
How long you have the phone? do you use Official ROM or Cooked ROM? and what version?
Some times doing a battery callibration will help you.
find the post : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5248266&postcount=696
And about the keylock, some times if you any active bluetooth or wifi connection it will also prevent the screen to be blackout..
try to install keylock app from http://maniac.fschreiner.de will help you to solve your keylock problem..and remember, always install it on your device..not on your storage card.
Thanks for the replies guys.

I have both switched off and I always regularly access my System Processes to end programs running in the background when I don't use them. Most of the time, it's just processes and activesync (I have PUSH email) running.

How do I only use GPRS rather than 3G. I noticed my phone seems to be switching automatically (I see G and H icons on the top of my home screen, not sure what it means).
My workplace is in a location with poor signal, so that may contribute to it. I've had the phone for about a week now, and it's running whatever ROM was loaded onto it from the factory (which should be Winmo 6.1).
Thanks for the pointers!
To switch your network manually to GSM/GPRS..
go to Setting >> Phone >> Band Select>>
for network type: set to "GSM"
for Band type : set to "auto"
to switch your network to 3G/HSDPA/WCDMA.
go to setting >> phone >> band select >>
and set your network to WCDMA

I read a post from someone (sorry mate couldn't find the post to give you credit) that if you simply removed Timescape from the home screen the battery life will extend.
I was getting around 9 hours of charge per day. That was with approximately two hours talk time and 40 minutes of web use.
I removed the Timescape and Mediascape icons from my home screen this morning. It has been 14 hours with the same usage as before and I still have 60% left on my battery.
I will test it out some more tomorrow, but for now it seems to have worked. I might add Mediascape to home screen and see how it goes.
So before you start loading extra software in an attempt to increase you battery give this try.
Hi - Are you talking about the Timescape widget? I removed that ages ago cos I wasn't using it...!!!.. I don't seem to have a Mediascape widget though?
I think he's on about the standard icons that are usually displayed on the home screen..

Yes, the Timescape and Mediascape widgets (just remove them from all three home screens. Try it out! It is only my first go with it and there has been a very big difference in power consumption. I also got rid of the clock.
I only have browser, calander, messaging, dialer, maps, google mail, and facebook as my home screen widgets. I will keep this up to date to see how far I go on a charge.
Oh, There is one other thing I did today I havent done other days. I have had WIFI connected non-stop.
HI fm1776- I don't have a mediascape widget... I can't find one either!!!.. what's it look like? what's it do?

It looks like three bubbles. Two small in blue and one larger with a PLAY symbol in it. It opens Mediascape.
ahh.. ok.. that's the mediascape shortcut.. that won't affect your battery. it just launches the app.. doesn't do anything just sat on your home.

I think there is a chance that some of the wigets/shortcuts are actually engaging something (updating) and using power.
there is no other reason why my battery power has increased. But I will keep checking and see how it goes.
widgets definitely can.. and do drain your battery - depending on what they do, and how often they update... can't see a shortcut doing anything like that though.

Ok, than. There might be one other explaination. I have had my wifi connected non-stop today (at home) have not been able to get 3g connection today.
Other than these facts I have not changed anything else in my habits. There has to be something related.
the 3g vs wifi thing would probably be it.... When I'm at home I switch 3g off and I can easily get through a full day on about 30-40% battery usage... When I'm out and I have 3G on it absolutely kills the battery... although.. I have recently reinstalled (stopped using it a month ago and then thought I'd re-try it).. juicedefender and set it to switch APN on for 2 mins every 30 which helps a lot...
so in summary - switch 3G off when you don't need it.. makes a huge difference (I normally run on GPRS when I'm out - which is fine for background tasks.. and just switch 3G on when I need to actively use the internet or XDA etc..)..
I just checked to make sure. I have an hour and 35 minutes talk time. five no answers. I used web to read some news and check the weather, and shopped android market looking at whats what and sent 2 text messages; maybe 45 minutes. I spent another 5 messing around with google maps. This is about normal usage for me. Every other day I got about 9 hours per charge.
Today, it has been 15 hours and I am still at 60%
I will give it a shot tomorrow only using 3g and see what happens.
also - as a "control test".. I switched 3g off on my wifes phone too (she has a HTC Legend).. when she's out at work her battery drains really bad... and with 3G off it lasts twice as long...
I also switched Juicedefender off... which made a huge negative effect too..
so with 3g off and Juice defender on.. the phone lasts about 3x as long as it does without them. (she's not a heavy user of the phones "smart" functions, but does read email etc on it)..
Just set the Timescape update timer to never and update it yourself when need be and turn wi-fi off when not near wi-fi access points; the constant updating and wi-fi searching is causing the battery drain.
17 hours and still over 50%

yes it is: apndroid.i think is very handy. put it on home screen and just press it to turn 3g on and press again to turn off, so simple.

Actually, I dont want to turn off APN totally as the weather needs to be updated automatically. What I want is key to switch between 2G and 3G. When I browse internet ot downlaod sth, the 3G connection could be turned on. And 2G connection is turned on for the rest time.
Hi there,
I installed CM10 (thanks a lot for it by the way) this morning and it seems my display sometimes just activates without reason. At first I only noticed the device being extremely warm, so I check battery usage and 92% of it have been "display". The device went from 95% to about 50% in a matter of a two or three hours with me not using the tablet at all in that time. When I checked again a little later, the display was active, although I am sure I had sent the device to sleep mode.
Also, here are two features I would like to request:
1. Please add a way to rotate the lockscreen
2. Please add Mobile Data as a switch for the quick settings (the one you get to by "clicking" the clock). It is rather annoying to go through the menu to activate / deactivate it...

OK, found the fix for that problem... the other one still stands
And I have got an additional issue now:
my Mobile Data Connection doesn't work. My carrier is o2 Germany and the stock ROM had some issues with that carrier as well a while back. Maybe it is the same problem?
For now I am switching back to stock, without mobile data, the tablet is only half as usefull, even with the otherwise better ROM
Add your APN Setting manually and it works nice. They are in the 3G Settings. I even had to just add a almost empty one to make things wake up again.

I have actually experienced the opposite--battery has been outstanding since flashing the ROM. I usually turn on Airplane mode when I am not using the phone, and am certain to turn off WiFi as well. Try that and see if it makes a difference. Also, be sure you are charging with an appropriate charger!

Thanks, that solved the 3G issue and, as far as I can tell after one day, the issue with the screen activating, as well.
For the other point, being able to activate / deactivate the mobile data easily, I found Power Toggle (can't post link, just look for it in the play market or remove the blanks: ht tps://play.google. com/store/apps/details?id=com.painless.pc) which can add a widget to the notification area that works great
You can add more switches to the menu popping up when clicking on the clock. Thats what I did. Its in System -> Notification Bar (Or something like that, I use it in German ^^)
