Pocket Mechanic - stuck on Scanning Notification Queue - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

As subject suggests, it hangs there with the hourglass, having completed about 1 bar. Device still working in the background, but Pocket Mechanic definately isn't (15+ mins like this now!)
What am I doing wrong?

It works perfectly for everyone else, which means that it must have found a bad entry on your machine which it cannot interpret, or cannot read due to a database corruption. This feels awfully serious and worthy of a hard reset (I imagine you've done a soft reset). What happens when u set a new alarm - does it work. If so, then at least your JJ is managing to enter a new entry into the queue, and read it out later. I trust you're using a recent version of pocket mechanic?

I did just manage to set an alarm (and it went off) but also think my alarm this morning didn't go off
I've tried a soft reset, and thought I was running the last version of Pocket Mechanic (I even registered it when I bought it, so its not even the trial version)

Same thing happens on my O2 Exec. The Notification hangs in Pocket Mechanic v1.58. I downloaded Memmaid which also has a notfications manager but this failed too.
However, I found that the ScaryBear CheckNotifications does work and allows me to delete duplicates (and the rcii_hlp popup that I kept getting). Even after clearing the duplicates and the erroneous entries, Pocket Mechanic continues to hang when I rund the Notifcations.
So give CheckNotifications a go - its free
Mike

I have the very same problem here

I'm using a JasJar with the latest ROM and the latest version of PocketMechanic. I have the same problem.

Whats worse is I found that the scarybear software also hung when trying to delete some duplicate entries all in one go - if I do it individually it works then.

I am using Pocket Mechanic Version 1.59 and MemMaid Version 1.5
I have no problems with mine. Works like a charm. I saw on Pocketgear, there was another version of Pocket Mechanic Version 1.60, but I chose Version 1.59 because it has the developers name Anton Tomov, unlike Version 1.60 which goes under a different programer: Omega One Software LLC.
Here are the links:
Version 1.59 http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=12178
Version 1.60 http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=12677
The pictures look the same, but their prices are different making me question the latest one. Can anyone offer any explanation?

What PIM are you using on your Jasjar/MDA pro?

i've tried the informant beta version but just doesnt seem to be working right, i can never get to the settings, nothing seems to happen, so stick to the default PIM now.
Also has anyone got pocet breeze to work?
I've installed Informant Beta and it is working fine for me ...

Only one small problem, Pocket Informant beta wouldnt allow me select ring tones for contacts, do you have same problem?
PI stops working within a day or so - all version trho build 456 - usually with a blank calendar or a m_agenda missing message of some sort
Pocket breeze seems 2 b OK at first, but also tanks after a while
CalendarPlus gives u a list of all your repeating alarms - not reading new PIM volume properly
AgendaFusion is plain blank
ALL say they are working on WM5 right now. I say first to market will grab a chunk of market share and will hold onto it until the next discontinuity (mainly cos they'll be trumpeted at the front of all the WM5/JJ forums which new users will see first).
Basically, they all try to read the PIM database, whereas WM5 uses a .vol file. They half work only cos they use built-in windows functionality to call procedures (it's POOM on the JJ), and these have not been well debugged yet.

Periodically reset

Hi All,
My MDA Vario is resetting periodically when not in use.
Some times every 15 min some days once a day.
Hard rest did not solve the problem.
I think one of the application is the problem.

have seen that problem caused by skype
but nothing else that i know of.
I don’t have skype installed.
But I think you are right it has to do with GPRS/Network connection
Same for me - it happens frequently, it happened overnight twice last night for no obvious reason.
I don't have any of your softwares. i think it has to do with Win mobile 5 rather than with any of the additional softs that one might install. I don't have Skype either.
It has JUST started happening to me and this only since I installed a new Intellisync push email service.
Before this it had never reset.

Hard Reset, format and reinstall did not help..
it never happened while connected to the pc on active sync though... ONLY when disconnected from the pc while on an "on" or "off" position.
Has anybody got a clue?

same thing with my i-mate k-jam. however, when i had original i-mate ROM (1.1.9.3) it never happened. after about 2 weeks i did ROM update, but only OS ROM (qtek 1.6.7.1) and Radio ROM (1.12.10). from this point, my device used to reset itself once a day without any obvious reason. on last saturday i did update again, but this time using 'full' RUU from qtek with OS 1.6.7.1 and Radio 1.13.10. after that update (a week) self-reset happened only once.
after each update and hard-reset i install the same set of applications so i'm not sure if one of them is reason, but it may be...

This is a problem with the latest ROM notably 1.67.
I have 1.3.7 and happens sometimes.
I think it's something about the MiniSD.
Tried to pull out the SD and PDA doesn't reset.

1Calc
TomTom
Resco Explorer
So I think must be one!
We have only 3 options now!
I have to reset mine, sometimes once a day, sometimes more often.
It's usually caused by me trying to use it while it's connected to my PC. It just hangs

Log resets?
Anyone got an application that can log uptime/resets?
I'd like to throw it on mine and not lose hours of my day watching for
something that shouldn't happen
My i-mate reset 2-3 times an hour
Going to try
x Removing the mini-SD RAM card I have
x Removing Skype
Adam
Its not Skype.
That was the first thing I removed.
Robin
I removed Skype and reinstalled the new low-CPU version and it seems to have helped _however_ there is a catch. I was beginning to receive notifications that related to WM5 not being able to launch Skype (periodically?) and since removing/reinstalling I've yet to receive such a message.
I think I remember reading somewhere about WM5 creating hundreds of spurious notification events (clearly a bug) - though I'm not sure if I suffer from this - must hunt this down!
Adam
I was having exactly the same problem, furthermore the device was growing slow ... I tried to install 'check notification' program (found it somewhere here) I then stated many duplicate events of sddaemon.exe (hundreds!). I Removed all those duplicates, and it speeded up everything and now I do not have that reboot problem anymore. Nevertheless, from time to time I clean the duplicated events which are still appearing... it's not that annoying but the problem is still here. Anyways, for me, I can affirm the reboot problem came form the miniSD for sure !
Hope it helps,
Cheers,

Pocket Breeze freezes MDA

Hi everyone!
I've got a strange prob on my Universal. It is a german MDA Pro flashed with the german Qtek ROM 1.30 and Radio 1.09. I've installed Pocket Breeze 5 withe some Plugins as Contact Breeze and iLaucher and Pocket Weather. My PIM is Pocket Informant.
All these are installed on SD.
Whenever I activate Breeze it works absolutely perfect. Then I switch the Pro off and switch it on again after a while. It comes to life and before it actually shows the today-screen it freezes and I have to reset
iLaucher, Pocket Weather etc. are deactivated when using PB of course. On the other hand these work as normal Today-plugins .... Installing PB to the internal flash didn't change anything.
Deactivating Breeze as today-plugin immediately solves the freeing problem ... !!!! ?
I didn't notice this behaviour with the T-Online ROM Version 1.20 / radio 1.06.
Another strange thing I found is that the Universal seems to automatically end some programs when going to 'sleep'. This concerns Pocket Informant and Flexmail 2006 and Dinarsoft Handymenu. Several other progs are not affected.
This is really weird and I'd love to have PB back to life sinece it ideally does what I need. I wouldn't like to change back to the 'old' T-Mobile ROMs.
Any idea is very much appeciated!
Thanks for your help

Hi Pernod99!
Thanks for the info! So I'll play with different install-targets.
I'll keep you posted with the things I'll (possibly) find out
Thanks again!
mikrolinux
Damn you got me excited, i thought macromedia release a pocket pc version of their Breeze software, now that would be good.
Hi Ahrjay!
I suppose we're talking about different 'Breezes' ;-)
The Pocket Breeze here is Pocket Breeze from www.sbsh.net It's an Today Plugin integrating PIMs, Mailers, Meters and stuff.
Sorry for the false alarm
cheers
mikrolinux
Hi Pernod99!
Well this seems to be the solution. I've reinstalled PocketBreeze, Contact Breeze and iLauncher to the devices flash
and soft-reset the MDA. Since then it seems to run as desired - fast and stable so far.
It seems PB doesn't like to be installed on SD, this concerns it's plugins as well. It urged me to reset the device frequently
until even the last PB-plugin had been removed from SD and shifted to the systems flash-mem.
There is an option inside PB that determines how Plugins are called. This usually is set to dynamic which means that the
plugin is initiated on first use after a reset. So everything runs pretty smooth until you call an application PB has to init from SD
-> crash after wakeup.
Setting the above option other values such as static doesn't alter anything since PB always has to init theSD and often crashes,
presumably due to timeouts. So PB and everything it has to init have to be installed to the devices flash for proper operation.
Thanks again for your help!
Have fun!
mikrolinux ;-)

Problems with newer rom or SPB Pocket Plus?

Hi,
Since installing the newest O2 Rom three days ago, I've had on several occasions that Windows Mobile got so incredibly slow, that each tile in Minesweeper took nearly a second to draw.
I first thought it was my email being retrieved from the background, but even after turning that off it kept on happening every now and then, and the only thing that'd solve it was a reset.
I talked to a friend about it, and he seemed to have the same problem on his HTC Wizard since instaling his newest ROM (~2 weeks ago)
He had experimented a little more, and found out that it only happened with software installed, and the only software we have in common is SPB Pocket Plus (of which we both downloaded the newest version after the rom-update).
My current config is:
Radio: 1.11.00
OS: 1.30.107 WWE (O2)
ExtROM: 1.30.162 WWE (O2)
Software installed:
- Microsoft Games, Entertainment, and Arcade packs
- SPB PocketPlus
- SPB Backup
- Sean O'Connor's Pocket Games
- ScaryBear Software Check Notifications
- WM5Storage
- Hexacto Lemonade
- Tascalsoft TRE
- Kasuei Hitchiker
- TCPMP The Core Pocket Media Player
- C. Ghisler & Co. Total commander
I'm hoping I'm not the only one with these problems. If you are experiencing the same issues, please post here clearly stating what ROM and Software you have installed. That way maybe there's a way to pinpoint what's causing this
Spb Pocket Plus used to run smoothly when I had an older ROM (forgot which one, though); it seems to be less stable when installed on newer versions, so I just gave up.
May I recommend "Magic Button" as a substitue for the Close button feature in Pocket Plus? It takes up less system resource, and it's free!

Well, the Universal definitely runs faster without Pocket Plus installed.

Additional apps - Stability

Hi all,
Been following this forum for a while now since the last few windows devices I've had...excellent advice and information!
The query is that now that I have a Tytn/Hermes etc, I wanted to get onto installing my "usual" applications that I've alwayshad.
SBP Weather
Resco: Explorer, Audio recorder, photoviewer, registry, today plug in (but only to show batterystatus as compact).
The delivery report patch by someone in here posted in the wizard forum
Ammar wireless addin to show status on desktop
I myself dont think this is a lot to install?
the phone is an orange M3100 unlocked with the Imate 1.20/1.07 firmware installed.
The issue is that after one of the above is installed, I get a lot of instability on the device
ITs to the point that I had to format the device on 3 occasions now and yesterday finally re-applied the firmware.
At the moment, its just got my contacts and calendar/tasks syncd with no addional software and its fine.
Has anyone got any of the above running without issues?
instability would be usually slowing down or crashing of the device.
I've also noticed that on Wed, I tried to take a pic of a box with stickers for work.
When two guys were holding the box, the cam took a pic without problems.
As soon as they put the box on the floor and I took the pic from birdseye, the cam would take a Black picture (cannot see anything).
after a while, the cam would crash and I have to soft reset to activate again
Take another pic from birdseye and same thing
I know there is a camera patch in the tmobile firmware, is it worth installing this or does the imate firmware have his already?
Thats it for me
Thanks
I'm using the M3100 with the Orange ROM and firmware:
Operator: 14.123.1.614
ROM Ver: 1.23.61.4
ROM Date: 07/13/03
Radio Ver: 1.06.00.00
Protocol Ver: 32.37.7010.01H
I don't have many stability issues at all. Mine is also unloacked so I guess it's not that.
EDIT:
Sorry I know this isn't much help to your question...
Gav.

I have the above programs installed and no instability, however, when using today plugins It tends to be slow and/or stop responding after a few hours of inactivity (mostly nights)
I use: resco explorer/reg explorer not the today plugin right now, and the wireless "on the today page" patch, and a calendar+ plugin.
and this combination works perfectly (no hanging or anything)
try not using today plugins (more than the "usual" ones) and see if it helps
Hi, I don't have an Orange, but I think it would be pretty safe to say none of the resco apps should be givin you any problems, I have the latest of all the resco apps installed, except the audio recorder, and I highly doubt any of your issues is coming from that, I had stayed away from SBP software, I seem to remember early issues with something related to the today stuff..possibly the weather, but I really can't say for sure.
At the moment I have 28 apps listed in the add/remove(not counting the resco today/addins), with no stability or lockup issues, but I only have one today plugin on, its the small todaytime written by someone here on the forum, forget who at the moment.
I'm not sure if your stability issues might be from the rom or not, I did notice on my camera the first 3rd and 6th picture didn't work, the files were real large and they wouldn't show in the viewer, but I just deleted them, and let the number grow, and it hasn't happened since.
Two apps I recommend for trouble shooting are SBP backup and SK tracker, I recently started usin these two, and haven't had any issues yet, where I had to use them..I make backups and snapshots often, but wished I had had them in the past before I tested software.
Hope some of my babbling might be of help.
The babbling does help
Thanks to all 3 of you
I'll give Resco another go but leave SBP out for now
I suppose one thing I missed out was that all those apps would be installed on the memory card rather than the phone memory... I wonder, especially with today screen apps, wouldthat be the cause.
I'll post if I have issues after Resco goes back in!
Cheers

Most today plugins must be installed in main memory.
I second that,
install the today plugins in main memory, and also if you are using flexmail install it on main memeory, otherwise you'll lose all settings in flexmail every time you restart
Hi, I'm using SPB Plus, Resco Explorer, SMSDR (Delivery Report patch), SPB Backup, SPB Insight, SPB Time, SPB diary & Phone Alarm .. All Ok. Running fine .. No noticable slow down on device (other than boot up time a bit longer)... So far so good ..
Ok re-flashed imate firmware
got resco audio, expl, reg, photo installed
got the resco batt mater on the desktop but no SBP
stable so far
