Hi i've been coming on here for a while but have never found the need to register or post, but today i discovered something i thought i could share with ya.
Currently i use a pair of phillips earphones with a 3.5mm to 2.5mm adaptor to listen to music on my qtek s100, anyway i was boppin away listenin to my tunes when i recieved a call from the mrs, i obviously unplugged the earphones and tried to answer the call but unfortunately the phone was stuck in hands free(sumthing to do with the switch being stuck), anyway i was desperate needed to talk to the mrs so i plugged the earphones back in to see if i could hear her & @ that moment i realised that she could hear me even with the earphones if i used one earphone as an earpiece & the other as a microphone.
Sorry if someones discovered this before, i did a search but couldn't find anything, & i just wanted to share with my fellow magician enthusiasts.

Well it works.. but it's not the earphone ...
apparently, the mike that is located near the mini USB port still works even when the earphone are plugged in...
I noticed one more thing.. when I make the call, other party can hear me, but the opposite is not true
cheers

Hi,
I have connected my KJam to my car stereo via a cable from the 2.5mm jack to the aux port of my car stereo. Tom Tom voice and phone calls are routed through my car stereo. Sometimes, the microphone will not work when I take a call. I can hear the caller perfectly but they can't hear me. Other times, the phone functionality works perfectly and we can both hear each other great.
If anyone can suggest any ideas, I would be very grateful.
Thanks
if your using a jack to connect it to your car, then its will prob. stop the mic working as its routing the audio to you car in the same way the headset with mic that you got with the k-jam does. I had this problem on mine, but due to the fact that i use a bluetooth neadset in the car fixed that little problem 8)
That's the end of my k-jam desires then.
I use my MDA compact in the same way you describe, for TomTom, Hands free calling and to play my music through.... and my microphone works fine with the headphone jack in.
I guess one thing to check would be the number of rings on your 2.5mm jack. If you have 3 then theres a possibility the k-jam thinks you have a mic on the end of the wire. If you have 2 rings (normal stereo headphones) then there must be another issue somewhere.
thanks for your replies. My concern was around the fact that sometimes the microphone works and sometimes not. I wonder if there is a workaround or a specific type of cable that I need to ensure that only the audio is routed and not the mic as well.
Thanks for all your help.l
never tried this myself, so i can only assume it would work. you could hack a cheap wired headset up, removing the earpieces but leaving the microphone. then add a stereo 3.5 plug so you can hook it up to your car stereo.

I have that very problem also, it's gotten that annoying that i've stopped using it through my stereo. you are able to get around it by popping the cable out of the kjam, then putting it back in.
pain in the ass though none the less.
What is the phone is set to Speakerphone ?
Even though Speakerphone is currently not working...
Hey all,
Just wondering if anyone has had any success in fixing this problem? I am having the same issue. I have a 2 ring 2.5-3.5mm adapter connected (so it should only be routing the audio, not the mic) and sometimes the caller can hear me, sometimes not. At one stage I found by unplugging the cable, setting to speakerphone, then unsetting speakerphone and plugging the cable back in would get it to work, but not anymore...
Any ideas?!?! I love my XDAII mini but this is driving me up the wall!
Cheers,
jlitjens
Hi, I was listening to my music through my pc via the 3.5mm line out and one of my mates phones me, of course i thought it was boss when I could hear him through my speakers but was a bit gutted that when i use my line out it disables the mic on the phone. Anyway to fix it so it doesn't disable the mic?
Thanks for any help,
Luke.
This is what i use

All the info on there - the main thing is if a call comes in whilst listening to music theres nothing to disconnect!!
Matt
Nope u have to use a mic and a earphone to get it work , standalone earphone will not work with the builtin mic else u will have to take out the plug from jack to get both working on the device.
hi!
i´ve recently bought a qtek 9000, and noticed that when i was listening to music using the headphones and received a phone call. O could hear the ring tone thorough the headphones and through the speakers at he same time. I thought it a problem of the headphones but it´s not bc right now, when i listen to music i can listen it through the speakers and the headphones at the same time. before i just listened it through the headphone.
does anyone know how to fix it? is a software/hardware problem??
thanks in advance buddies

The headphone socket on your 900 is perhaps the culprit. When you connect the headphone the speakers should get disconnected. Try to connect some other headphone in the socket. Connecting and removing the jack a few times also helps in releasing the spring loaded contact in the socket.
Hi chaps,
Do you have any suggestion for a wired compact headset to take phone calls?
I got a bt but its not always on and when I get a call, I dont want everybody around me to hear the conversation but when i pop in a 3.5mm stereo headphone, the microphone stops working
I cant find a combo in-ear headphone microphone thingi with one 3.5mm jack or a mini usb headset... so any suggestions?
What about the original one in the package?
You can leave your device in the pocket and accept or quit phonecalls.
You can set the volume of the incoming call to lowest with the slider left to the navi-stick, then other people do not hear your calls if you are 2-3 meters away.
I'd like to know a wired headset which shows the caller-ID in the microphone case, like the old sony walkman with the display on the wire, showing actual song and volume. The 3.5 jack will not support this, i know.
yeah you can just leave any 3.5mm headphones pluggged in, as long as they are plugged in before the phone comes in you can use the inbuit microphone.
The device still rings, so you just put the buds in your ears and answer.
This is what I do with my senseinhers.
I'd like a decent replacement corded set, don't like the sound quality from BT ones I've tried.
Had a USB one from gpsforless that you can plug your own headphones in just past the mic, but it wasn't well built and lasted about 3 weeks.
I bought this one for use in the car while plugged into my AUX in on the car stereo.

It works great with the Athena, there are a bunch of different types on ebay, just search for "Tytn Adapter" and you will find a bunch.
Pretty much any HTC Extended USB based adapter will work with the Athena.
Good Luck

I don't have such a problem with the original wired headset. The sound is excellent in both WM5 and WM6.
My wired headphones died pretty quickly, so now I use a pair of sennseisher buds, the microphone on the athena works when using standard earbuds, so although not hands free, it is at least a bit more private.
I like this from PPC Techs.

It gives you both 2.5mm and 3.5mm output so you can have your headphones in one plug and the headset in the other.
They have another adapter that goes from the USB for the same purpose but I don't have that one.

I had the same problem with my HD. People told me that I was wrong and that the phone could detect it was not a 3.5mm connector with a mic band on it, but it never worked for me.
I'd love an answer to this as I regularly use my phone as a music player in my car - same setup as you described.
One should be able to test this quite easily: call a friend. And if you don't have a friend - just call someone. Tell him that you sleep with/think he is an/damaged his (whatever) and if he starts shouting at you.. well I guess you have your answer. If nothing happens - same story I guess. The last possibility is great - you can now call everyone and finallysay the truth to him or her - all the things you always wanted to say, but were afraid to say. All thanks to HTC...
i know it doesnt work, thats why im posting the message!! any other smart arse comments?
It works, at least on mine, I am often listening to music using classic headphones and I can call people / use voice command with the microphone of the HD2. It is the same with the AUX input on my car.
Maybe you have a jack that has the microphone contact ?
