Is there any shortcut i can use to directly go to the Speed Dial list wither from the Start Menu or by using a hardware button? I suppose there might be a certain *.exe app with a specific string to open the SPeed Dial app.
bump.........
if you're using WM6 just install HTC Home.. besides the fact that it's very useful with media and weather.. it also has a picture speed dial pad for just one touch dialing. i use it.. and it's wonderful.
i can upload an scr if you like
I have plenty of experience with HTC Home...
On my phone, I use SPB Phone suite with the drop down contact list as well as FaceContacts which allows you to flip thru contacts by sliding your finger across the screen.

What I'm trying to figure out is actually for my father, who's in the medical field... so his Speed dial list is over 20-30 items that he needs on a daily basis.... (labs, Radiology, Endoscopy, East Wing, West Wing, South Wing, Nurse Station 1, 2, 3, 4 .... etc...) ... so his current Speed dial list is humongous .. so basically I'm trying to figure out if there's anyway to link directly to it somehow...
After reading up for a bit, I did find out, that if you hit the CALL Key, then Left on the D-PAD, it will bring up the speed dial list... so that may be the best solution.
wait.. but if your dad is using 20-30 speeddial contacts why doesn't he just use FaceContacts? it would probably be the fastest way. even if you linked them directly he'd still have to go thru the list..

Instead of installing yet another program, you could also go to your device settings - buttons - and map one of your buttons to the "Start Menu" command.
The (while still in device settings, go to "Menu" and designate those specific applications you just mentioned to appear on your start menu (I think you can specify max 7).
That would allow you finger access to those apps without adding another prog and also remember that the more stuff you add to today screen it eats up your battery.
cLaunch is much nicer looking than you think
The program is very customizable
Craig, this is my setup using claunch and a number of my hacks.

However, if you find this Today plug-in, let us know: I'd love to try it.

Though if you start using the 0 - 9 buttons you can dial the number that way from the Today screen, if that's any help.
Though also, with that AND the Contacts software/hardware key, I don't honestly see what the point of such an app is?!?
Cheers

Maybe for those few who uses the phone in portait mode..
But again, that would require them to open a SIP.
Would be easier to just press green button and dial..
I dunno..
And also, contactbreeze, from SBSH, properly configured, is very simmilar and more simply for searchs.
Have Fun
but noone have buyed Treo700w? possible?
That'd be ace if there were a version for the Exec.
SPB Diary has a contacts plugin that does almost that. You'll get a contact list wich you can dial from.
Guys
How can I create speed-dial shortcuts on the Today screen to start a phone call directly from the today screen? Is there some good freeware that lets you do it?
I can do it using a menu .. but how do I do it as a shortcut?
- JoKer
I don't know if there's any software for this purpose, but if you don't find it you can easily implement it using an application launcher + mortscript.
iLauncher does that .. but right now .. I am trying to spend my money wisely ..
VJPhoneTools.

Vijay .. Thanks a lot, totally forgot about your apps. Now a really stupid question. How exactly do I run these apps and provide command line options on my TyTN?
Whatever's your poison. Use gsfinder/resco to make shortcuts generally.
I use claunch to launch speed dials from the today screen... but you can assign to hardware keys or other launchers etc.
One combination I'm testing right now is to use a hack I've written to assign an app to the video key, and use that to launch "Launcher" from the Samsung rom. Using Launcher I can assign a menu full of my calls, so I can switch tasks and make calls from one thumb + wheel.

Spb Diary has a photo contacts dialer that can be one-tapped-to-call from the Today screen.
It seems to be very nice, I tested this before, uninstalled it and tested it again today, I really cant seem to get the niki slide out keypad working with it, anybody else have any luck? I want to use the slide out keypad for T9 search style.
heres the link to the ap by the way:

ive just replied to your other thread but for the sake of clarity i'll post it here too.
basically you cant do any type of keyboard based searching as the interface is based around using your finger to scroll through contacts. If you swipe your finger down the letters to the right hand side of your contacts you can choose contacts alphabetically which is probably quicker than scrolling if you have a lot of contacts (I only have 70 odd so its effortless to scroll to the one i want).
You can also use the menu to sort your contacts either by first name, last name or company
EDIT: Ive just realised that if you are on the 'A' tab that shows all of your contacts (like in your screenshot) If you press the 'A' tab again it brings up a little keypad that can be used to search contacts and/or dial numbers
PocketCM have same features, and it's free...

ive been using icontact and i like it a lot
i prefer fun contacts personally but ive tried pocketcm and its pretty good.
Hi,
My unit should be coming tomorrow and I was just wandering any cool tricks for the S-Pen button?
Thx.
They act as mouse left click select ..
Mark text like youd do with a mouse on a pc.
Other than that, the image clip is handy IME, for quite a few things. My most recent thing was making a quick S Note document to share with travel companions by clipping flight info from email, hotel info from my browser, directions to the hotel from maps with handwritten circles around nearby landmarks naming them, and weather info for the trip. Sent it to my travel companions with email as a PDF, they could print it or keep it on their phone. Really quick and easy.
example:

"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",

}
Other than that, taking a picture and drawing over it has been quite useful, for instance Im attending a course on a new piece of SW for my firm, I can take a picture of the interface, circle around a particular feature on the UI and make a note about that particular bit, instead of having to describe what part the notes are about for that particular segment (like say marking the taskbar in windows 7 and noting that you can pin programs there) which is a lot easier to teach on to colleagues.
Hold the button and doubletap the screen (even lockscreen depending on your device lock choice i guess) to instantly get action memo up.
Iunno... stuff like that? Theres a lot more about the SPen itself, but for the button Im not sure what else to tell you off of the top of my head.
Apps can also use the button for things - for example LectureNotes allows to use it to switch to eraser.
