A glitch with Microsoft's PC to mobile device synchronisation software is preventing users from synchronising their device as normal. Microsoft has issued a software update designed to resolve the issue.
Some users of Microsoft ActiveSync 4.0 have reported problems when using the USB connection of their PC to connect to a device with Windows Mobile 5.0. These challenges are "likely caused by interoperability with desktop firewall applications or applications that manage network traffic," according to Microsoft.
In Europe, potentially affected devices include the Orange SPV M5000, iMate JasJar, iMate K-Jam, T-Mobile Vario, T-Mobile MDA Pro, O2 XDA Exec, O2 XDA Mini S, O2 XDA Phone, FSC Pocket LOOX N500, Dell Axim X51 series, HP PPC series (rx1950, hx2190, hx2490, hx2790), Qtek 9100, Qtek 9000, Qtek 8300 and Qtek 8310.
An update for ActiveSync is scheduled to be available in late November. For most users the better option would be to download updated software from Microsoft's Windows mobile website. Microsoft has also produced a troubleshooting guide covering the problem here. ®

I currently have a SPV C500 phone and Pocket Loox 720.
I'm just about to order either the Orange M5000 or O2 XDA Exec.
I realise AS4 is required for the Universal, but will I still be able to sync my other devices.
I expect to hold onto my other devices for a couple of weeks or so until I sort out any of the wrinkles with the Universal.
Anybody else doing this and have experience of syncing WM5/WM2003SE devices on a day by day basis.
Thanks
Mike.
I have an old XDA 2 running WM2003 which syncs perfectly well with AS4 so I don't see why WM2003SE wouldn't work.
Hrmm...mine didn't work. I installed AS4.0 and left my XDAIIs cradle in its USB slot. While the Exec synced properly, the XDAIIs did not.
You can't sync two devices connected at the same time.
Oh, I didn't sync them at the same time!
Hi,
Wondering if anyone has heared when the Blackberry connect SW will be out for WM05 as want it on my XDA mini
Scott
A question, that is also interesting for me...
Nobody with news about it ?
I´m strongly interested, too, because my BES4 is still idle
Bye, Pyro
I dont know about WM5 software, but I have the 2003 software on another PC.
I think the WM5 software is buss BES4.0 and the 2003 is partial 3.6 not 100%.

I have Qtek 2020i and Windows Mobile 2003 second edition. I will upgrade to Windows Mobile 2005 or WM 2006. It is possible... ?
there is no wm5 for that device
it is abit impossible as Himalaya and apline hardware are different. I used to owe this device and hope there is a WM5 or WM6. Advise is to change to a new device or trade in, top up.
