Magician as Infrared modem - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 General

I'm trying to use my Magician as a modem on my Windows98 laptop, I have unlimited GPRS access. W98 needs a specific infrared modem driver for the Magician. Does anyone know where to find such a driver?

Try this driver: http://www.myxda.com/downloads/WirelessModem_USB_files.zip

There's a howto on ubuntuforums, use it to create an rfcomm device, so you can use the Magician like a "normal" modem.

You don't have to setup anything on the Magician (just pair it with your computer).

Bluetooth GPRS internet sharing from Hermes to PC

The Hermes doesn't support PAN due to its wretched MS BT stack, so how can I share my gprs connection through bluetooth? If impossible, how to share it through usb?
Best regards Johan
Hi, theres an app called PDANet, I use it to connect via usb, but it also is supposed to work over bluetooth and even bluetooth to a mac and share the connection, also you don't have to disable active sync if you use usb to connect to a windows machine
Just create a connexion using bluetooth modem and dialing *99#
Using a modem connection I only get a 633 error, cannot open com port, in windows the modem is set to use COM4, but I only have a incoming com at port 9. I don't know how to fix this, will try pdanet.
I use a widcomm stack on my HP laptop and it works flawlessly; I just had to pair with my tytn and the software automaticely created a generic bluetooth connexion and a generic bluetooth driver. There is only a little trick there; if I start the connexion through windows it won't work; I have to fire it from my bluetooth manager, which realy connect through my phone.

Transfer file via Bluetooth

Hello everyone,
I need some help wth this problem.
I have installed Windows Vista RC2 on my laptop.
I've got a Belkin Bluetooth Dongle V 2.0 with EDR it uses Widcomm drivers and I've managed yto find the latest driver that work on Vista Widcomm Version 5.1.0.2500.
I've have a problem with file transfer to and from my laptop.
Evertime I try It does not find my pda.
My pda is paired with my laptop.
The service that it finds are: 1 Dial-Up Networking, 2 Obex Object Push, 3 Voice Gateway this is what it shows WSter on my laptop.
On the pda instead it find this: 1 Headset, 2 Serial port, Dialup Networking, Wireless Stereo and that all.
Should it show as well the Obex Object Push on the pda??
I've got the tick in receive all beam file in the infrared menu.
The Bluetooth is alway on.
I tryed my pda as well on my sons desktop which has the same bluetooth and it send and receives file with no problem but that users Windows XP.
Am I missing something in Microsoft Vista.
On the Laptop I can syncronise with my pda with no problem via USB using WMDC.
Do I need to download something extra for the bluetooth to work fully.
Please can anybody advice me please.
Thank You

Huawei E220 as modem for data transfer on Atom

Hi,
want to use my Optus wireless 5gb plan for data on my Atom, works fine with laptop & PC. The wireless modem is a Huawei Brand - Model E220 - HSDPA USB Modem. It has a mini usb connector and i have come across a data transfer cable that has a mini usb at each end... so E220 can connect to Atom.
Q.
1. does anybody know if I can use this setup for data (mini usb to mini usb) similar in function to a WiFi connection?
have plugged the E220 into my Atom but nothing happens (the drivers auto load on PC)
2. any help in the setup would be greatly appreciated
have read the wiki on setting up Atom as Modem but not sure if same steps to set the E220 up as the modem
No you cannot use huawei e220 as a modem
cos atom doesn't have host usb capability
and huawei e220 need to have software installed in the host so its imposibble
Just use your laptop and if you really like the small screen then connect the atom through your cable to laptop and you can browsing through your atom

There is a wiki on using the Atom as a modem... so even after installing the USB drivers that 02 suggest it will still not work?

this was where i thought would have trouble unless the USB drivers as per the wiki would work for the E220

actually want push email on PDA without paying for an extra data plan as better to share 5 Gb a month
Please excuse me if I'm missing the point ...
....But wouldn't it be simpler to simply put the SIM from the E220 into the Atom ?
