hey guys,
still dont have much of definate answer on the BT question. what version is it? 1.1, 1.2, 2.0
Derek
v1.2
Anyone knows if there is an oficial confirmation that it will support 2.0 standard with future ROM updates?
i hear that BT 1.2 supports stereo high quality sound. has anyone tried to use bluetooth 1.2 earphones on the kjam yet? how do they sound?
The current version of WM5 on the k-Jam doesn't support stereo Bluetooth audio natively - here's hoping that will change sometime soon..
So no oficial confirmation on the BT revision that the wizard supports!!
Many pepole will be angry with all the rumors about it!
Including me!

Can anyone tell me if the XDA II can be upgraded regarding the version of Bluetooth ie. spec states ver 1.1 can this be upgraded to ver 1.2 which allows for the use of stereo bluetooth headsets etc.
Thanks
Mike Simmonds
i think bluetooth revision and profiles supported are 2 different things
you may want to look into bluetooth stacks insted of revisions because i think thats hardware related
I guess from this then, my original question should now be,"Can I use/upgrade my XDA II with bluetooth stereo headset (rated bluetooth v1.2)"
Thanks for the reply

AFAIK, Bluetooth v1.2 is backward compatible with v1.1. Besides the same basic technical stuff, the 1.2 adds Advance Frequency Hopping so it can connect better in a crowded wireless radio area and faster connection between Bluetooth devices... And the v1.2 compatible Bluetooth devices can still connect until 100 metres.
So basically yes, you can use a device/headset rated Bluetooth v1.2 with your XDA.
I once tested a v1.2 Bluetooth headset from Billionton to connect with an XDA II Mini, I can still communicate with the Mini and me are roughly 80 metres apart, although the sound quality was horrendous, it's mostly because of the headset itself, not the connection fault.
Just to be sure, try pairing it first if you want to buy a v1.2 Bluetooth headset with your XDA.
Can I assume also, that I would be able to stream stereo audio via the XDA II to the stereo bluetooth headset, & would a headset mic also function?
Thanks for your reply

As far as I understand, both Himalaya and Blue Angel are equipped with Bluetooth version 1.1.
I've done some research on this, since I wanted to connect stereo headsets to my MDA III just like you apparently. The 1.2 standard is downwards compatible and apparently it will work to connect a 1.2 "stereo" headset to your device. BUT you will not be able to enjoy stereo.
Headset and device can connect, but since your device uses 1.1, it won't be able to broadcast stereo.
(I haven't tried all this, but it's what I found out during extensive research).
Apparently, Bluetooth 1.2 requires a new chip. So unfortunately it isn't that easy to upgrade from 1.1 to 1.2.
the ms bluetooth stack and also the vidcomm i believe dont support A2DP
which is required to get stereo audio to a headset
you can use this though

Currently using a Jabra BT250 (bluetooth 1.1) on the Jasjar. Seems to work ok, but noticed some static with it. I've read a lot of positive reviews for the Plantronics Voyager 510 that supports bluetooth 1.2.
Does the MS Bluetooth stack on the Jasjar/Universal support 1.2. I thought on the Imate site it only listed being 1.1 compliant.
I am wondering if a headset that supports 1.2 would be better.
thanks.
Anyone able to confirm the MS BT stack on the Universal supports BT 1.2? Anyone, anyone?
It has 1.2, but the M$ stack sux.. I'm getting static on my Bluespoon 5G too *if* I let my O2 Exec go out of sight, as long as I have straight line of sight between the 5G and the Exec, the sound quality is good, no static
Where can i find the A2DP BT patch for magician,
Here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=33532
Does this CAB work on the orange (out-the-box stock ROM) M500?
I have tried but it does nothing?!?
I installed it on my M500 when I had it but never got around to using it.
Anyway, it looks like a new version is available, go to this thread for details: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=52312
thanks but it looks like there is no new version yet, just a description of bug fixes (no CAB).
I tried the original patch, which even though it installs and runs, I can't pipe any audio to my H3 headset, which I'm beginning think does not work for BT audio streaming.
it doesnt work with mono BT headset ...
Has anyone try the bluesoil Stack? does it have headset profile?
I really want every BT headset to have A2DP profile, even the one side one....
Does anyone KNOW (no guesses) whether the patch also provides AVCRP as well as A2DP support for the Universal?
I'd be especially happy to hear from anyone that has upraded to the new O2 ROM (Radio v1.09.00, ROM v1.30.162) and has then used the patch and has it working.
Many thanks in advance
Luke
I am not running your ROM version, but yes, the tornado patch enabled A2DP and AVCRP. At least, the AVCRP works very well with my JasJar (with Tornado patch applied) and my SonyEricsson hbh-ds970s headset.
I do have a problem with not getting the music back in the headset after a call has ended. Others do not have this problem, but might have other issues. I think it also depends on which headset you are using. I only have experience with the one stereo headset, so I can not comment about others.
I am running the latest O2 Rom and applied the tornado patch.
Have the nokie HS 12w headset and works fab with pocket music.

I have the same combination with the Qtek ROM with A2DP. How good is your playback. Do you have interruptions, and how good is your range. I am trying to figure out if my range problems are related to the software or hardware.
Surur
I've been testing this a little using the Swedish Aku 3.3 test rom.
Downer: A2DP does not work skipfree without Sleuths A2DP fix. Using Hermes Tweaker 2 to improve A2DP I find audio quality worse then with previuos rom (1.18), high pitch hiss and some crackling of high tones... Did anyone find a decent setting manually?
Positive: now the phone and headset rings on incoming calls, also I see the caller id on the headset display!
Could you let us know ROM version you have and if possible FW version of your HBH-DS970?
Caller ID does not work for me, so I suspect this is software issue of my phone / hansfree...
I am also interested in know how well this headphone works with AKU 3.3 and up running WM5 and using the microsoft bluetooth stack.
Have you checked to see if your headset is not a fake one. You might wanna take a look at this website right here for some info. http://213.19.178.16/se/
My buddy bought a couple of weeks ago and it was a fake one. it sounds like ****.
