I bought a SDA off ebay a few days ago. It's nice and everything, except it has a simlock (to T-Mobile) and I want to use my O2 sim card on it. Any ideas on how to unlock it? I just need some sort of unlock code I think. Don't want to pay for the unlocking service either.
Use the XDA developers C500 free sim unlock, worked like a charm for my SDA which I bought off ebay a few days ago, same as you
Another way is to flash the rom, I am looking into doing this myself soon as I would like WMP 10.

Sweet thanks for the info but where about is the unlock program?
BTW if you're thinking of upgrading the ROM you should know that MMS and the camera is not available, which is a pain in the ass. Dunno if anyone's managed to fix that problem yet.

It's true! I flashed the Qtek ROM onto my SDA and it's still simlocked! argh...
My apologies for mis-leading there, I should not have persumed the lock would have been removed.
I infact unlocked mine prior to flashing Using the Spv Developers C500 unlock tool, and forgot all about it!
Anyone looking to unlock their device for free, I can strongly recommend this tool.

A friend has an Orange SPV C500 she wants unlocked to use with the cheap easymobile sims - will this unlocker work withthat and where are the instructions to use it.

I just couldnt wait any longer to get past CID lock, so I unlocked at http://www.imei-check.co.uk/
(removes SIM/NETWORK LOCK - use any provider, removes CID lock - flash any firmware)
costs: 30,68 euros.
good news: cid unlocked, upgrade to any rom now possible!

CID unlock is not the same as SIM unlock.
if we talk about imei-check service they do the both.

I think if you're able to flash your device with a ROM from HTC, DOPOD or O2... its CID unlocked...

Duhh... wouldn't it be better to find out before trying to flash any ROM? Suppose you think the device is unlocked but actually it isn't, then you might end up with a bricked phone.

If I had the original T-mobile Rom then I would've just taken the risk but I don't and that's why I'm a little worried.
I'm still looking for it but it seems like it doesn't exist anywhere!
If anyone can help me out then I'd really appreciate it.

T-Mobile ROM
The original T-Mobile ROM is available on T-Mobile website amongst many others. I really dont think there is another way to confirm you have CID-unlocked your set, unless you flash it.
Though the report of many who have used imei-check seems to suggest it gets CID-Unlocked

I allways thought it would be possible by running the mtty program. Wasn't the command Info 2 for getting the status? Correct me if I'm wrong.
I haven't tried it though, because my phone is certainly locked and I don't want to pay for getting it unlocked.
info 2 and info 4 do not work for the Artemis.
Guys thanks for your replys. I've managed to track down the original Tmobile ROM for the MDA 3 (thanks to some guys here). so now I'll be using imei check to unlock it, once done, I'll go ahead and install any ROM other than Tmobile and if it works then I'll know my device is CID unlocked. If it doesnt then I have the Tmobile ROM to fall back on.
Hopefully it will work otherwise I'll be getting in touch with imei check immediately!

It's not possible by Hard-Resetting or Soft-Resetting...
U need to have a lot of experience with cracking/hacking to get the simlock off, but nowadays hackers/crackers became lazy...
I'm trying my best to study, but it takes a lot of time and I don't think I'm going to be able to research this within a few months. I'm not good enough.

I have JAFWM already... It does NOT support the unlocking of MDA Compact III

I have just recieved a new orbit as an upgrade handset from O2 about a week ago
since then I have put in it a vodaphone and a Tmobile sim in it and they both worked although it still had the o2 software on it
but I could make calls send text and recieve text to the phone

I dont know about policy in other countries, but I got here in scocotland (UK), sim unlocked O2Orbit as well, but be aware - Sim Unlocked orbit not always mean SuperCID - u have to pay 2 imeicheck to flash notO2 rom(2 make dev supercid)

dont think (or I dare to say) that unlock procedure doesnt depend on OS version. Maybe on radio and bootloader - unlock Universal U have to use some special radio, SSPL is some part of bootloader if i remember.

Hi i do the operation to unlock sim and cid a lot of times with herm_unlock_V3a and i can't restore my imei using jafwm restore (i bought the jafwm dongle), it always says me the same error "could not save data to sd card, your phone must be unlocked, your sd card must be empty". It's been a year now...
It would be realy usefull to be able to unlock my sim and give my phone to my son, any news on an unlocker. If not where/who is the best place to do it?
I have Cingular 8125, I used one of your methord and unlocked the Sim, I could used T-Mobile SIM and it works. Also I ran CID umlockd.
Here is my question for grat experts.
I see many many Rom upgrade, don't know which one to start with . I do not want to make 8125 as Door step.
I try with one of ROM, I get error 262
Any link or direction would be realy helpfull and appreciate all your hard work.

Did you mean 8525? I hope so. If you really mean 8125, then you need to get yourself over to the WIZARD forum. You will have a brick if you flash 8525 ROM onto your 8125.

you can consider yourself lucky you only got an error and not a paperweight....
go to the wizard forum and in my opinion, as a 8125 owner until 2 days ago, flash the TNT 1933 rom.

Yeah. Lots of good ROMs to choose from... vp3G, Schaps, Custel (has a new one), you really cannot go wrong with the last batch. Haven't really tried any of the other new ones, but they are all very stable now.
Check THESE GUIDES for upgrade assistance.

You shouldn't HAVE to unlock it - the updater will do all the work. Check out the guides I linked in my previous post - it wil make the process easier, more clear and safer.
Do U have 8125 or 8525?
I have both. I just load tnt-1933 fro 8125, look cool.
I also have 8525, I need clear instruction for that, I do not like to messed up.

Hi guys! Well, i bought a new HTC magic, but my problem is that im going away from the country for a while and I needed to unlock my phone!
After trying 2 payed sites that offered remote unlocking by IMEI, neither one of them was able to successfuly deliver the Unlocking Code after more than 2 days!
Anyone got an idea about this? Im starting to get really worried...

Try just rooting it & using a rom provided here..
wrong. try using ur default ROM and then doing the unlock
I have my original rom... the problem is, wherever I go, no one can "create"/"deliver"/"found" (call it what you want... lol) a code for my IMEI! its starting to get really annoing...
