Announcing XDA-developers Special Edition ROM v1.1

Version 1.1 of the Special Edition ROM is now out:
Fixed:
- Based on O2 3.17.03 ROM: annoying reply to SMS bug fixed
- Everyone can now use GPRS
- Pocket IE opens GPRS connection
- Serial ActiveSync now works
- Minor issues and cosmetics
New:
- Brand new version of dbView tool
- EzWAP2
- Our own band switch tool for US users, switch between all three bands
(no guarantee your hardware supports it, but at least you can now try)
This is now officially the coolest ROM for you, no matter where you live...
See the mkrom page for details on how to build this ROM (difficult), or wait for some kind soul to build the EXE, and just download and run it (easy).
Thanks a lot for your effort. I've really enjoyed the possibility to create my own ROM.
Is it possible to get a look on the source code of that welcome.exe app? So far it 's the only closed thing in your package.
thanks
XDA-developers ROM v1.1 installer
Thanks to Andre, who was online during the announcement and who sent me a message, I must have broken some speed records:
Click here to download a new and tested version of Special Edition ROM v1.1. Simply run the exe and presto...
This version fixes most if not all of the problems some people had with the 1.0 release. Thanks to the XDA-developers for doing such cool work, and for making their instructions easy to follow...

The source is online: http://xda-developers.com/mkrom/welcome101-src.zip . The source for the welcome in the previous ROM was available too. Look at the mkrom page for details...
Let us know if you come across cool tricks we could incorporate in our ROMs too.
oh, to my previous post:
nevermind, my wish is granted, found the sources on the mkrom page.
thanks
update
jeff summers, you are a prince amongst men! Ta!
This is wonderful.
My PIE & ActiveSync over GPRS are now working well with this ROM + AT&T SX56 radion on my T-mobile USA device.
Thanks again XDA Developers, and Jeff for being so 'quick' with his help!
cheers,
..lance
Jeff you're like greased lightning!!! Well done to the boys and girls at xda-developers for this update, it seriously rocks!! MaxIreland and "guest" refered to a prog called sms-char-counter....
freeware tool written from a user at a german xda forum. it's an sms-char-counter

Any more genious people out there who know where to get this from?? I'll learn german if I have to! Maybe it would be a good addition to the next version of the ROM!!
Respect to you all at xda-developers.com

OK silly question...
I am here in the uk...
Last time i tried to flash my xda with the radio upgrade i lost all functions on the device and had to send it back to the service centre to be repaired...
If i run the exe that has beed kindly created is there any chance of screwing up my device again!...
I would be running via USB and the docking station that came with the decive!..
I want to do this but am a little worried after the last incident!...

thx for your great work.
is there any "diff" tool for ce, so that i know what ezwap2.5 or other programs (like an sms-counter) are installing exactly for using with mkrom?
if i got you right, then i need all files installed and all registry-entries?
is there any install-tracker on ce?
Jabba
Two questions:
Is EzWap version 2.5 MMS or 2
When you say:
"- Everyone can now use GPRS"
What do you mean exactly by this ?
Because we have a serious problem with our local operator: they "upgraded" the GPRS system (by Erickson) last week, and since then, all GPRS on Pocket PC's stopped connecting. Is the new ROM the solution ?
ezwap 2.5 has got MMS
is there a program on the new ROM which can open pdf files instead of acrobat reader?
Thanks Jeff and you wonderfull developers, This ROM is great and I didn't have to mess arround in UNIX to install it.
thx man gonna try it soon !
installed it but the autoconfig still doesn't work on my xda ?
SMS-Counter Software to include in ROM
u'll find it here (german thread in forum):
http://www.ppc-welt-community.de/showthread.php?s=&threadid=21372&highlight=smscounter
Try it.... it sits as small programm in the taskbar naming "start" (because it's right over the start button).. it runs always... taking nearly no cpu-time. when u start to write a sms then it begins to count (like nokia).

Best Regards,
Drahtman
My ipaq 6915 source languages are the English .
stop at 0%.
I want to be supposed to be the model do not right ,
Moreover I use Sable_RUU.exe to promote RADIO.NBF, to 1% left wrongly, looks at the picture at Appendix .
modified/pached hpRUU.exe?
i would like to know if somebody here already have patched or modified the original hpRUU.exe for the ipaq hw69xx series in order to allow uploading a different ROM-image(e.g different language etc.) to the device.
as far as i know it would be enough to disable the pre-check and jump directly to the start of the flashing routine itself.
i tried In each method this already by myself, but it seems it isn't as easy as i thought.
any help is appreciated...
In the appendix has HP iPAQ hw6900 Mobile Messenger Series ROM Update
BIOS from that link:

This is a great little app sets up your GPRS and MMS for any country and Service Provider you like Install then select setupOperator from programs, If you find it usefull click on the donate link and send the man a DRINK Tested on my BA / Himalayer / Charmer all running wm6.XX
Enjoy
Swampy395
PS I don't know if it works with other 19199 roms ! but if you test it on some other rom and i works Do spread the news
Swampy, this is great. I've always found the ever changing list of post-flash fixes to be a pain to keep on top of, so much so that I don't upgrade all that often. Releasing a patch roll-up is a great idea. I'd number your own patch though so that future updates to it can be differentiated from each other. Maybe xplode5.2.19199p1 or something to tie it to the ROM version? It's bit of a mouthful though!

new to all this . looking for wm6 and touch flo for my new Qtec 9090

hi i hope some1 can help me . iv just joined this site as some1 told me they used this site to upgrade their blue angel to windows 6 and touch flo. id luv to do the same to mine. but i am very much a virgin to all this. if any1 could tell me where to look and the general way to go about it . i would be very grateful. cheers paul
first of all, i would recommend to look all basic facts about upgrading up in the wiki:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Blueangel
there are tutorials on how to upgrade and step by step instructions to do so.
and when it comes to picking a rom to upgrade, if you like touchflo in general, i would recommend sun_dream's wm6.1 build 20758. it has integrated touchflo cube. but be aware that this is battery draining and may be slow on your device, if you don't overclock it. i use that rom and have my blueangel overclocked to a permanent 472Mhz, which is much better now. in general i think most of the people here like manila2d or touchflo3d better, with is comparable to the normal HTC home, but animated and better personalized, as the cube is nice, and really eye candy but slow and battery draining.
when it comes to the link to the specs of the rom itself, i'm quoting sun_dream here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=428030):
By Sun Dream
1/19/2009[所需要的只是等待发布,HTC BA只有32MB ROM,但我相信它在新的一年更加精彩,一切运行非常OK!它会发布在一个允许发布的时间]

unfortunately, as you can see, the links to the rom have been removed from the forum, but that does not mean, the files are removed from the rapidshare servers.
unfortunately, i don't have the actual links anymore, so probably it would be best to get it via pm from one of the senior members!
hope it will work out for you, and whenever you get stuck in the upgrading process, (assuming, you can download a rom at all), feel free to ask, i've done this often enough to be able to say, i made all the mewbie mistakes and now know, how to handle them
Chef_Tony
@Chef_Tony
Uhmmm, none of the roms from sun_dream (or any rom for the Blue Angel that I am aware of for that matter) come with the cube (TouchFlo, yes, but not the cube). For some reason, no one placed too much importance in porting it to the BA. I guess that Slither2006's version of the cube was good enough so that it wasn't necessary..
Just wanted to make that small correction, other than that... good post
mmh, i wonder where i got it then, i just looked it up in "remove programs" it says "xda-developers HTC Cube" and i am pretty sure i didn't install it myself, so i assumed it was in the rom, on the other hand, i'm still quite a newbie myself, and i'm still confusing those HTC features like home and cube with touchflo and manila, if there are differences at all. i know that is off-topic and 3rd party stuff, but i gotta look it up and maybe correct the post above
a bit worried
hi there i hav just been following some steps about upgrading to wm.6. but i says it wont work on PH20A2 (Harrier) / CDMA device (How to make sure you don't have PH20A2?). when i to device info it says model number PH20B . is this o.k . i'm very new to all this.

[Q] Does anybody have the original imate pocket pc rom?

I wanted to downgrade my pocket pc os to it's original rom because the windows mobile 5 does not have a transcriber.thanks
Hello nfstanton,
I don't have any i-Mate ROMs, but would be willing to search if I know more about what you need. I bet the following information might help others want to help you...
Could you list the model name or number of your i-Mate?
Are you trying to downgrade to 2003 or 2002? With or without phone? What language ROM?
Any chance you know the ROM version number that you want?
Wishing you success.
ph10b windows mobile 2003..thanks
LOL - I see that is a hard to find ROM... HTC Worldwide doesn't even list the Himalaya on their Support page anymore. Other resources I checked don't have it in repository either.
One quick fix may be to Download the install package for Transcriber direct from M$. It is listed for WM 2002, but may work under WM 5.
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...c3-2eee-41e3-9339-f7b303f4b386&DisplayLang=en
They have it in English, French and German...
Or
Here on xda I found an "All Himalaya WM 6.x ROMs" thread by user maggie
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=379017
Lots of ROMs in multiple languages to choose from...
Some of the links might still be good... Maybe an Upgrade instead of a Downgrade??? Especially since WM 2003 is next to be phased out of support by M$.
P.S.: I'll still poke around looking for the WM 2003 a bit... Post back if either option above solves your problem so I don't keep searching needlessly.
Here is a Blog with info and working download link for a cooked version of WM2003 ROM which installs on all Himalaya... (It appears to be an English Language ROM)
http://softdown-guddu.blogspot.com/2009/09/alpine-wm2003-rom-11100-wwe.html
Another xda thread: "Genuine English WM2003 SE upgrade for Himalaya uploaded here"
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=230279
Note that the files are attachments in the Original Post so you must be logged on to see them - if that doesn't work you may need 8 posts for full link status...
And a working download link for "himalaya_wm2003se_upgrade"
http://www.4shared.com/file/Z9RZUIFQ/himalaya_wm2003se_upgrade.html
That's all from me unless you post back that you need more help.
Best of Luck,
RumoredNow
Thanks
Thank You VERY MUCH for helping me You're like a angel sent from above i will never forget you
Yay!!!!
I'm glad you found an answer. Honestly, that post made my day. Thanks Bro.
There's a little problem
I'm having difficulty changing the operator in the WM2003 nbk and radio files..it says that i have to use command prompt and enter the words in the instructions so i entered them and it says that it doesn't recognize the syntax...How do you really change the operator ID of the ROM? Please elaborate the steps..if you can. Thanks
I'm honestly not up to speed on Radio Stacks... There is a large group of threads for your device here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=243
Or maybe try the xda wiki pages?
