Hi, i need to make a call with a number received from an sms, or to the sender of the sms. I need to add a prefix too and i cannot save the number on my address book.
Is there any program to do that?
thanks
i know what you mean. some phones have the highlight function of msgs, so when you recieve a number in an sms it automaticly highlights it for editing or calling. but what i do, is open the message, forward it and then you can edit it before you send a forward. from there highlight the number you want, copy and paste it into a new contact card. if theres a simpler way i'd love to know. maybe we can all bug imate/htc about this and they'll add a highlight function. or is the messaging app the same on all windows mobile phones?
This is a simpler way:
- open the sms and underline the number and press copy.
if you want to call it
- press the green button.
if you want to modify it
- paste into a note and modify it
- copy and paste into the phone

a couple quesitons..
when you say underline do you mean highlight? cuz i do that, highlight the number in the text msg and press call and it calls the message sender not the number in the message. also you cant copy it from the message in an inbox, you have to select forward to edit it and then you can copy it there. i was having problems with pasting it in the phone but just realized you have to tap edit on the bottom left then paste, you cant tap and hold to paste it.

G'Day,
I have three issues with the i-mate and that is the ability to:
1. dial a selected telephone number from received text (SMS) messages or email messages;
2. save the selected telephone number from received text (SMS) messages or email messages into contacts;
I transferred my Telstra message service from MessageBank to Memo so that I did not need to write the name and number before calling. Memo sends the message via text (SMS) message which enabled to return telephone calls directly from text (SMS) message. On the i-mate, I can not select the telephone number to return calls from text (SMS) messages.
3. cut and paste from web pages or text messages.
For example cut name, telephone, address, email address and company name from emails or text (SMS) messages and paste into contacts.
I know that the Treo 600 has this ability and I'm hoping that the i-mate can perform these functions also. If not, I might have to swap to the Treo 600!
It would be greatly appreciated for any assistance to solve these issues.
Thank you.
Marcus
I can cut and paste from other areas but not from web pages, emails or text (SMS) messages.
If I receive a text (SMS) message, email or web page with a telephone number in the message, I must write it down, open the phone and type in the telephone number. After the call I can then transfer to contacts.
How do you cut from web pages, emails or text (SMS) messages and paste to phone or contacts or calender?
ctrl-c, ctrl-v
I don't know but I always open the keyboard and as in desktop windows i use ctrl-c and ctrl-v or ctrl-x to copy und paste!!! of course you have to be able to highlight the test..... :wink:
Thank you rdkay. Your advice works and has already been useful.
I am currently deciding between the i-mate (XDAII) and the Treo 600.
This now makes it much more difficult to choose!
if you hold in the pen dont you get a menu ?
If I open the text (SMS) message and hold the pen on the telephone number in the message a pop-up menu displays "new - delete - move - reply - forward - mark as unread".
No "copy" as it does if selecting "From" and certainly no "call".
I have spoken to i-mate support and they are aware of this missing functionality.
The intergration between the phone and the sms does not seem to be as well developed as with normal telephones.

... you have to tap reply or forward to be able to edit the text and then you will be able to use at least the copy/paste "technique".

Thanks PavelR.
Finding it very difficult to choose between i-mate and Treo 600.
To copy from a web page:
Highlight the text.
On the menu, select Tools->Copy.
To copy from a text message:
Highlight the text.
On the menu, select Edit->Copy.

1. press the green call button after reading your msg. It automatically transfers the number to your dialer.
2. Call and hangup immediatly before they can connect the call.
3. Open the call list, Number you just dialled will be present.
4. Right click on the number and there should be an option of save to contacts.
5. Type in neccessary details for your contacts and wala !!

Hey guys,
I've come from the Diamond1 and I've noticed with the Diamond2 that when you send a text message and you want to send the same text to another person, you can't copy and paste from the sent window.
For example, you can't highlight previous messages sent to you and ones that you've sent and copy them. I find this very annoying, anyway to fix it?
Thanks
I can do it fine if I go into MENU and do SELECT TEXT.
If you don't get the copy/paste options in the menu, you can always set the keyboard to the default wm one, and push CTRl-c, CTRL-v.
It CAN be done...
Under Sent Items, open mail. Text is greyed.
Select Menu\Select Text
Select the text you want
Press & hold on the selected text. Menu pops up "Delete..Forward...Mark as Unread..COPY..Select All" select copy.
Exit message by the back hard button
start new message by menu\new\sms
tap once in message area (not "To:")
Press & hold next to cursor and wait a second - the dotted circle will come out and give you the option to paste.
I have a Diamond 2 Win 6.5 Hellenic.
None of the above can be done with this operating system. Copy-Paste is totally missing.
juz press n hold in the sms
the menu will show "Make Selection" as the first option
select that n select the text u want, press n hold again n you'll get the copy option
I came across this problem yesterday, If I tried to paste more than 640 characters (length of more than 4 sms) it would not paste.
It seems to paste fine if the lengh of the sms is less than this.
Can soemone explain to me how Copy & Paste works on the D2?
I cant seem to get it to work consistently, am I missing something?
On the D1 you hold and get a menu to copy, with D2 it appears hidden somewhere else
I use text messaging heavily for work, so this could be a deal-breaker
When you are in text messages, click MENU and click SELECT TEXT. Then you can select what you want to copy.
No idea why HTC changed the way of copy paste.. it was annoying for me too to find the copy/paste function.
in New Contact Card
in New Contact Card how to copy and paste? since lots of asian online auction use the same company/ email name would be much easier just to type it once and then copy it. i'm able to highlight but get no menu poping with options
you can copy paste with almost any keyboard:
fingerkeyboard: shift+longpress c/v
spb keyboard: control+c/v
default keyboard: control+c/v
paste hyperlink
Hi,
I seem to have an issue pasting from Opera (address bar) to email.

y holding on the address bar and selecting copy but it it not on the clipboard to paste in email.
Does this work for you guys?
The SMS function for WM 6x is a Microsoft Inbox service. One useful feature is that it has a library of 10 stored text messages which you can customise and store on your phone.
The list of stored text messages can be viewed when you are in the view, reply or forward SMS context. The list will be shown when you tap on "My Text" from the SMS menu icon. There is an Edit function for you to customise your own messages for future use.
The problem faced by WM users is that when they hard-reset or flash a ROM, they will have to re-edit their stored text messages all over again this can be time-consuming. In this forum, there had been questions asked about the location of the stored text messages, but their queries were usually not responded to, or a vague answer answer was given.
The solution is to import the Registry settings after a hard-reset or flashing a ROM. The Registry settings:
Code:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\PresetMsgs]
"0"="Stored text #01"
"1"="Stored text #02"
"2"="Stored text #03"
"3"="Stored text #04"
"4"="Stored text #05"
"5"="Stored text #06"
"6"="Stored text #07"
"7"="Stored text #08"
"8"="Stored text #09"
"9"="Stored text #10"
Steps:
1. Cut and paste the text from the Code box and save it to a Registry file on your microSD, e.g., MSinbox.reg
2. Use any Text Editor to edit the values of the "Stored Text #01 through #10" to customise your own.
3. From now on, when you hard-reset or flash a ROM, you only need to import the Registry settings.
Use a File Explorer software
Navigate to the file location of the Registry file
Double-tap on the Registry file
Tap "Yes" to accept the import
4. There is no need to restart the cellphone - just terminate the SMS software and re-start. The SMS software will read the Registry each time it starts.
