I was just wondering if there is any software available that allows you to use and control your XDA II via a PC by connecting it with the cradle. Or, is ActivSync the only way? It would be good to be able to save my contacts, sms/mms, notes and loads of other stuff
if you mean controllering the xda from the pc then ms have a free tool which let you control the pda
if you mean synch then there are many

Yes, would like to control it. Do you know what it's called?
thanks

Waiting for my XDA2 I am using a girlfriend's Samsung p400. We will not discuss what it does not have ... but it has one neat feature:
The bundled software enables you to generate sms on your PC and sends it through the Mobile phone. Now this is great because
*You can use qwerty keys & not fiddly mobile ph keypad
*It is sent immediately
*Your no sent for replies
*Your recipients think you really smart at generating sms
*Internet sms sucks
Does this feature exist for the XDA2?
Please tell me it does and I will happily give the p400 back!
Check this software for SMS Managment with PC, it is freeeeee ...:

Microsoft Remote Display Control
Using Microsoft Remote Display Control, you can control a Pocket PC using a window on your desktop PC. You can see the Pocket PC's screen in a window on your desktop PC. And your keystrokes and mouse clicks on that window are sent to the Pocket PC. So you can do more than just sending SMS from your desktop PC.
Looking forward to try it
Thank you!
And there is an add-on for the outlook that O2 provides (it works great in Ireland but don't know in other countries) that you can send an SMS to anyone in your contacts. No need for mobile/XDA, nothing...ahh and it's free !
And here is a link, it's called "Desktop Text":
http://web.o2.ie/portal/business/enhanced_business_solutions/desktop_text/
If you have access to your pc do a search on google for "free sms" there are a bunch of sites that give free sms through the pc on the web.

Hmm nice language option there.... The screenshots look like they come from a hybrid SP Studio (free)/Jeyo Mobile Companion program.
SP Studio is Chinese but if you can find it in English its free and works well. The only problems are that you need to run a program on the xda 2 when you want to start using it so it connects and it doesnt support sms messages longer than 160 characters. The makers of SP Studio then went on to make "version 2" but renamed it to Jeyo Mobile Companion 1.0 available at www.jeyo.com. Its based on the same program but all of the limitations are gone and its properly translated. However its not free. Ive bought a copy myself and it works great, however steer clear of the Outlook version they make as its still very buggy for most users. Ive used a few sms managent programs and Jeyo is my favourite not only because of the send from pc feature you are looking for, but it can backup and restore all the sms messages on your phone cleanly and easily.

Hi,
I am a newbie to this site. I spend alot of my days at my computer and recieve many SMS's throughout the day. It is a bit awkward to have to write the SMS messages with my XDA sitting in its cradle. Is there some sort of cool app where I can write the SMS on my latptop and have the XDA sync and send automatically. I searched the net and found a program called SMS2MAIL but it does not really automate the process, anything else out there?
Thanks,
Danny

Try Jeyo Mobile Companion
As far as I know the closest thing to what you want is Jeyo Mobile Companion. Follow this link for a review: While I haven't tried it myself the initial comments look good.
Software Not Ready Yet
Hey,
Thanks for the suggestion and purchased and tried the software and it would not work on my laptopn and hung my XDA. It is still in Beta stage for sure and their support team has not resolved the issue. Saw other posts on their website from others experiencing the same problem.
In theory, if they could get it working, this is the application I am looking for, I'll keep you posted,
Danny
MTUX Remote, u could write sms from your laptop & send thru your XDA.
Summary: View& Control your PPC on your desktop.
View your Pocket PC from your desktop and Control it by using keyboard and mouse.
Hope this help.
MTUX Remote Works good
Thanks,
This App works like a charm, there is a delay between the device and the laptop but i can totally live with that.
Thanks for the suggestion,
Danny
Another Jeyo...
Hi!
I have used Jeyo Mobile Extender for Outlook
https://developer.handango.com/Plat...Type=2&catalog=0§ionId=0&productId=121875
It installed and worked fine for a few days... than I could not open Outlook anymore (that was very annoying) and I disinstalled it...
Since I really liked the application I would try again... if anyone knows why it might not work or stop working... help!

Where can we get this MTUX Remote?
:?: How could we have the MTUX Software, i really need it, please help.
I tried the MTUX Remote, it is only for sending sms from desktop? Anybody know how to synchronize sms data (to keep & to save important message) from XDA II to desktop? Any software for this?
jeyo has a long way to go yet I believe.
-1.0.1 only sync for inbox no sync for sent, drafts etc.
-major problem with restoring the backup. it disabled sms functionality!
Could you explain more detail about "disabled sms functionality"? After restoring back up it disabled the sms function?
I mean that when accessing the Inbox you did not have the SMS option. You could not send or receive messages. If you go to Accounts there was no option for enabling the SMS.
Ok, tu finikas; i will try then. so the one things i should avoid is not to restrore the back up. Anyway, how do you handle this problem?
i had to rebuild i-mate as it was new!
Have you tried the Jeyo Mobile Extender for Outlook? is this the same product? I just download & try the Jeyo Mobile Companion, the problem is when the Active Sycn is disconnect the sms were gone too. How to copy or import the sms from the mobile/XDA to the pc?
I'm wondering if I can Sync my Magician with my PC at home and the one at work ?
In order to get the same Calendar and same Contact in both PC.
I have found a freeware called : Pocket Multi Partnership Sync
But I wondering if this freeware is necessary ?
And if so how to use it ?
Thanks.
MS ActiveSync supports up to 2 computes. Unfortunately you will have to delete one of them if you will require to create third profile.
So, as long as you need only one at home and one at the office you are OK.
thanks man
So you think this freeware I'm talking about is made for needs over 2 profiles ?
Anyone know this tools ?
Thank you

Because or requirements at my job, we don't use Outlook. We use SyncML to sync contacts and calendar events with our internal server. Really nice being able to sync without hooking ot a computer and anyplace you have GPRS / WiFi access.
Here's a post where I put some info and links about it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1159992&postcount=4
i need an exactly same like palm desktop to sync my contact and calender when sync with usb cable
zzzzzzzzzzzz
any 1 have third party software that can sync contact to desktop to view and edit??
i have try uninstall outlook 2003 and activesync 4.5 many time, and the result remain the same
I have had the ActiveSync problem since 10/2006 and have not found a resolution yet. I have posted on this forum, tried all suggestions and tried everything except a Hard Reset. I still cannot get my Desktop or Laptop to recognize my MDA via ActiveSync even though my Desktop and Laptop recognize my MDA. I have asked for 3rd party software to update my Outlook address book and calendar and have not found anything. I have even asked if there is software to update/change the MDA PIM.VOL file via a desktop or laptop. Still no luck. I have researched this out and checked all possible sites. NO LUCK. I still have not given up. I continue to look daily for a solution other than a Hard Reset.
So, you are not alone. There are many of us out there. ActiveSync is a very poor application. Maybe someday we will find something to use instead of AS. The only think that is missing in the AS is the last 'S'.
Hey friends,
I dont know if this reply is useful for you. I am so new to this forum. I am using a Motorola Mpx220, but gonna get my Cingular 8125 within a couple of days. Anyways, when I was syncing my Mpx, I had the same problem. The solution I found out was(after a long research), while the phone is still connected to the computer, go to Start -> Accessories -> Modem link. In that "USB" connection, make it active and then deactivate. As soon as you do this your active sync will detect the phone and it will sync smoothly.
I have no idea why is it happening like this nor I dont know if it works with MDA coz my Mpx220 is running on WM 2003 SE. I can only check WM 5 after I get my 8125. If this reply help you guys in anyways, please let me know.
Thanks mates.....

So there is no third party "phone manager" like for example Oxygen Phone Manager for Symbian phones ?
Contacts backup without outlook
Try " Jeyo Mobile Companion" . Google for it. It can save the contacts + call log as well as SMS on your comp. You can restore/ update the it any time It doesnt sync though. Just use it for back up purposes. Very hand. You still need to connect that phone to the comp. and AS to recognize your device.
Trust this helps
I assume that I can backup my PIM.VOL file on my 2Gb Storage Card. I have not had to reinstall the PIM.VOL file so I don't know if it really will work. However, I still would like to find an application that will allow me to update/change my Contacts and Calendar without using ActiveSync. Bottom line, why can't we find something that can do this without using AS since we are having problems on using AS? I have used Palms since day 1 and other things without as much problems as AS.

asctony,
AFAIK, you still need AS to connect the PPC to any PC ( I cud be wrong). What you can do is to set AS not to sync your contacts and others and use another 3p software to update / modify contatcts. The prog - Jeyo mobile companion does just that + back up your SMS too. Which is very crucial, in many cases as they cannot be backed up through the regular way.
Hi @ all,
google a lot, but only find a VNC solution to manage my mobile on PC.
Is there a PC Suite out there for WM 6 (use XDA diamond pro with WM 6.1 pro) like Sony Erricson and Nokia use?
Connect it by USB or Bluetooth, maybe by WLAN
Best regards
Try Jeyo Mobile Companion
What "managing" are you trying to do??
There's "My Mobiler" (here) that allows you to control your PPC from your desktop, plus it offers Cop/Paste and screen capture functionality.
There's "Desktop SMS" (here) that allows you to send/receive/manage your SMS messages from your desktop PC.
Plus WMDC (on Vista) or Activesync (not Vista) allows you to explore the PPC, add/remove programs, etc...
Then, as @deedee has already mentioned, there's Jeyo....
At the end of the day, it depends on what you're trying to achieve and whether you want to pay for a "solution"
In answer to your original question, there is no "PC Suite" type software for Windows Mobile devices of any sort that I am aware of...
HTH,
Mark.
