I have done search for the infomation i require however with no luck,
What i'm trying to do is get the realtime usage of the GPRS connection using EVB. I have a program that does many usefull things however i want it to tell the user when they are coming upto their max GPRS usage for their plan and if they go over how much it will cost them based on usage x Plan.
If anyone can point me in the correct direction it would be fantastic.
I hope this helps, I've uploaded a program SPB GPRS Monitor FULL w/ serial @ Zevink.com, in downloads/useful_apps, with this it will show your GPRS usage, and you can cap it to what you want, or set it to unlimited =)

Thanks for the app it looks good. I was really looking for code to add to my evb program however your program is going to be really usefull untill i find what i need.
The only problem is installing a program that comes from a blackhat hacker..... ;-p
Thanks again

I travel by train pretty much, and I have a HTC Universal. Since I can make use of UMTS i was wondering if i could let my universal act as an accespoint, so that i can use it as router for my Nintendo DS to play online in the train. Is there some way to do this?
Its possible, using a java program to add router software to your universal. Try googling it a bit.

Hey if you find something keep us posted will ya?
i can only find lots of Telnet clients and tutorials how to connect your ppc to a router ~ ___~);;' no luck yet.
oops i cried too early Xp I found it

The first part says:
Just get the HTTPSnoopProxy.class file, copy it to, say, the root of your "access point" Pocket PC and get a decent Java Virtual Machine (I recommend CrEme 4.00 because of its superior speed, reliability and moderate memory consumption).
Seems like only web surfing will be allowed.
I got an idea when i saw this line in the link you provided:
"To share an Internet connection, you'd need operating system-level support for connection sharing as is present in, say, the desktop Windows"
I bet Linux has this. And since some smart people here has managed to get linux running on the Universal this might just be possible.
Is there anyone reading this with some linux knowlage that knows how to set this up in linux?

Have you tried it? If so does it work?
I would love to setup my Jasjar as a WiFi access point using 3G, now that Vodafone IE have an unlimited 3G data plan.
How about making some sort of quasi proxy/(repeater or relay) site on a home PC?
I'm thinking of some way to pass parameters as part of the URL for port forwarding to a proxy site that forwards to the intended destination site.
would you enjoy gaming on your DS with 200msec ping times? UMTS is fast but ping times are almost as high as GPRS's...
I this this would be a great project for someone like vjay, I'd certainly pay for an app that lets me use my universal as a wireless access point.

Well, I'd say it depends on the GSM operator. My UMTS ping times (Europe) are generally (well) under 100 ms.

Not yet. I'm, however, pushing Microsoft (in internal forums) very hard to implement REAL connection sharing - some kind of an extended version of the AKU3+ Internet Sharing tool.
Isn't internet connection sharing enabled in Crossbow?

Hi guys,
I'm absolutely loving my phone atm. Just seems like I've found my perfect setup, and that I can do everything with my phone.
I especially love how I can display detailed weather in Today's screen.
From what I've seen, it seems like it accesses a website, then parse the data to find the actual weather.
This leads me to think, wouldn't it be cool if I'm able to see my mobile usage on my Today screen.
I'm living in Australia and am with 3 using Dopod d810 (htc p3600). People who use 3 will know that we have free and unlimited access to the My3 website to see our usage for the month at any time.
Just wondering:
1) It must be possible to write a program that parses that website and retrieve the data accordingly right?
2) Has anyone seen any app like this?
I'm more or less an experienced Java developer so I hope it won't be too hard to learn how to write a ppc app!
Lastly, thanks everyone in this forum who have contributed in making my phone, the most perfect I can imagine!!
Yeap its entirely possible. Its called screen scraping. Look up wikipedia.
I used to make a php application that parses data by looking up their html tags, so it's possible. But if the website supplies rss data then there's no need to do scraping.
great!
Thanks for the tips, I'll definitely look it up...
How do you know if it supplies rss data btw?
wouldn't it be much easier to just install batterystatus
This can display outgoing texts, calls etc
Hello all!
Im looking for some tiny, handy and preferably free "connectin-thingy" tool for my machine. Practically it should display the current connection method on my today screen aswell as the speed of the capable data transfer, either in realtime, frequently refreshed or on a click if it otherwise would leech to much bandwidth.
Sadly my hands are bound, cause im limited to those few keywords.
Should be compatible with WM 6.1.
Thanks in advance,
Real.

And this: http://htc.handster.com/software.php?id=8&for=HTC
Comes close to what im looking for, just more simple, since I dont need all of those extra features.
IP Dashboard, customizable and simple. I'm now using it on my Smartphone as well (WM6.1Pro)
IP Dashboard
Thanks for the reply!
The programm comes even closer to what im looking for. Just that im in need of a tool, that display the signal strenght in size, not percent, directly on the today screen.
Also all the options aren't necessary to my needs, since those in english anyways, and I've couldnt find a german add on, doubt there exists one.
Perfect would be an today screen add in a single line providing information about the current connection method and its capable data transfer speed or signal strenght in data size.
Seems like there is no such tool, but its so simple and very handy...
Real.
Hi Guys!
Because of a new provider plan (100 minutes / SMS incl. per month) I would like to use a tool which counts my outgoing calls and sms. In addition the tool should count the usage of the data connection, because 30MB per month are free too ...
LCMinutes doesn't work for me. The tool doesn't count the data usage I don't know why, but after three hours of trying to get it work I resigned.
Now I'm in search of another software which counts calls (minutes), SMS and data usage.
In the past I used SPB GPRS Monitor, a nice software, but it only logs the data usage. And I don't want to install yet another programm to log my calls and sms ...
Do you know a tool which works like LCMinutes? It mustn't be so extensive like LCMinutes. It only should counts minutes, sms and data usage.
Thanks a lot guys ... and sry for my bad english
BatteryStatus is the only thing I can think of:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=270751
knownboyofno, thanks for your reply.
BatteryStatus would be an alternative if it is possible to run BS without today plugin (correct me if it works).
I'm using TF3D, so BS today would not be shown.
u could use the second today screen and run BS on that. second today screen is on that page with BS
Does second today screen runs parallel to TF3D?
it is a program that runs and when u bring it up it is a today screen ... so it will run at the same time but to see the info u need to run it or bring it up...

Disable TF3D enable BTstatus Set BTstatus as your new Taskmanager and Disable HTC Xclose. Then hide all the BTstatus rows on Homescreen and reenable TF3d.
(very short tutorial leaving some space for exploration, sorry at work)
Hi everyone!
My first thread in this wonderful XDA community! Let me start by thanking everyone for being so great! Not only are the custom ROMs/apps/themes for my Elfin and Diamond are amazing, but the support and kindness of everyone here is AWSOMER! I get warm fuzzies when I visit these forums!
Ok I digress! So My first question: does anyone know of a good application that monitors data usage, minute usage (supporting free weekends and evenings, and my10 free calls), txt messaging, etc?
I used Phone Dashboard on the Elfin but with no Today screen since I use manilla, a today screen utility is useless ! As far as I know SPB wireless monitor is pretty powerful for data monitoring, but as of yet I cannot find an easy (LCMinutes scares me!), powerful and all inclusive program to make sure I stay in the confines of my plans preventing overage charges!
Any help would be appreciated, and though it is no easy undertaking I am sure, I think a lot of people would benefit from a Phone Dashboard type app that works on the HTC devices and they would of course support the developer for their efforts! I'd way rather give me money to the devs here than to the greedy wireless operators!
SPB wireless monitor is amazing for data tracking with good breakdowns of usage, and reminders. and very simple to use
http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/wirelessmonitor/
for minute tracking you might want to just try google
i'm sure theirs something out there
Help, I'm desperate!
Yeah Wireless Monitor is perfect for data! I agree
But I have searched for months now and can't find anything, through google or otherwise for a good app that tracks voice usage.
LCMinutes had hope but it requires Microsoft NET CF 2.0 which causes Manilla to crash since CF 3.5 is already installed. So that's a no go!
Dashboard was amazing for the Elfin but only works as a home screen plugin so it is a no go with TF3D.
Pocketbill didn't work reliably
Smaatocost has dead download links and is nonexistent it seems.
So i was wondering if someone from XDA has a solution or could come up with an easy one. My ideal app would be one that could accomodate free evenings and weekends, and free calls to my10 (certain numbers are always free). I have searched all over the place and come up short so I could really use the community's help. Am I correct that there is nothing that will work with the Diamond? Someone please prove me wrong!
Thanks in advance!
