Hi...i'm a noob here, been searching and reading, but couldnt get a real answer. I have read that the hole next to the Camera on the XDA is an antenna for stronger signal strength?
For example, would this be used for an in-car Bluetooth?
IF so, is there an antenna of such sold somewhere here on the internet?
thanks
no it for a gsm ant you can buy them for around £15 qed from car acc shops the car tax disc holder and stick to w/screen we sell where i work
jim

i was just wondering when the xda2 will be for sale in the united states and how much ?
I second this question!
and I third!
Probably, in 6 months if it all. Get SIM free XDA2 and enjoy it.
where?
Try this

thanks for the tip but i'll wait until the prices are reasonable. Also, it seem there are a lot of bluetooth bugs that need working out. the only thing i want it for(besides the fact that it does everything my xda does) is the bluetooth compatibility with the chrysler bluetooth car kit http://www.wjjeeps.com/uconnect.htm. I read somewhere in here that someone couldnt get it to work with the nokia bluetooth car kit because it doesn't have a car profile built in.
When price for XDA2 will be reasonable it will be already XDA3 on the market
im at least waiting for the new bluetooth stack
Hi all,
I've seen this item at PCWorld but I can't work out if it's a GPS receiver or just a dashboard mounting kit!
http://www.pcworld.co.uk:80/martprd/product/TOMTOM/GENERIC+IPAQ+CARKIT/024526
The picture is of a Garmin device that does look like a GPS receiver so I'm very confused. If it is just a dashboard mounting kit then why does it say that it's "bluetooth enabled"?
Has anyone got one of these or even seen one? If so, is it a bargain tomtom gps receiver or a badly described, overpriced lump of plastic?
Cheers!
Gadget
Whatever it is, it's not what's in the picture!
That's a wrist-mounted GPS for running/hiking.
See the heartrate monitor strap in the background!

bought my bluetooth gps from www.mobilefun.co.uk for £40. works a treat, five sat fixes even in car glove box
Thanks chaps, I guess if something seems too good to be true then it usually is! I'm going to plump for one of those bargain ones from mobilefun.com after all.
I'll get a dashboard mouting kit too - do you find it better to have your wizard in portrait or landscape with tomtom?
Cheers!
Gadget.
Cheapo GPS mount
I have an ultra cheap vent pount for a phone (about £2 from Tesco). My TT bluetooth GPS fits snugly into that.

Another couple of bonuses with this receiver are that it uses a mini USB socket to charge and comes with an in-car charger so this doubles as a free in car charger for the mini S!, also uses the same batttery as many current Nokia mobile phones (BL-5C) which means spare batteries are easy to get hold of.
Wow, £40 isn't bad is it?
I paid £35 for a wired one for my Palm!!
Shame it says 7-14 day delivery.

Mine was delivered in 18 hours!!! ordered at 15:00 in the afternoon, arrived in the post at 9am the next morning. guess they had stock at the time though
I ordered mine from mobilefun on monday morning this week along with some other stuff, by monday evening I had a SMS saying they'd part shipped the order, minus the receiver  Oh well.
The receiver does still have a 7-14 day estimated shipping time - I just hope they can still get it! I'll let you know when/if it arrives.....

Read that entirely and decide if you want to use an external antenna.
which car mount have you got or want.
I have found several different types :-
http://www.gpsforless.co.uk/product_details.php?id=15320

The Latter costs twice as much but will it mark the case been dragged in and out all day long.
any input would be appreciated.
Take a look at Brodit carholders/kits. Had one for my Tytn2 and it did the job good. Now i bought one for my HD. There are also many mounts for the holder especially for your car.
Clib for you car
Holder for Touch HD
Sorry is in Dutch
Brodit with the proclip! Excelent quality, won't bounch like some windscreen ones will do.
I can recommend Brodit with ProClip. (http://www.brodit.com/?lang=E)
Everyone here promotes the Brodit holder, but I understand that you have to buy a mounting device for your specific car? I change cars really frequently, so that would mean I would have to buy a new mounting device every time ??
There is a Blackstone accessories section...
Tesco special, £5.99.... what can I say, I'm a cheap slag
Potnoodle anyone?
I have the brodit mount, hardwired into the car (new Ford Mondeo). I do not change cars frequently (every 3 years or so) but do change phones frequently. Brodit is ideal as you can just screw the new mount on your existing clip, and the wiring is not to difficult as well. As I use the tomtom quite a bit on the phone (as I did on the cruise) it is very usefull having it charging all the time while in the car. Can definitely recommend
If you change cars very frequently, the Brodit holder is probably not the best solution.
It is true, that you would need a ProClip for every car you use, so that would be quite expensive.
There are better solutions for that scenarion, I guess.

Well if he changes cars frequently, you can't tell me that a ~30€ clib then is expensive. My Point is Brodit has a good and stable solution without screwing upp you dashboard. When he buyes a new car just me sure the clib is included...with the buy No car salesman will let you go ....
Maybe they're just different rental cars or company cars, in which case I doubt he would always get a new clip.
Otherwise you're right, it should be no problem to get a clip with a new car.

That is indeed my situation. (I don't buy a new car every X months, it just changes every day ...)
ProclipUSA does not show HTC HD choice on their website. I am in US, and would like to buy the Brodit holder. Any advice? Thanks

i wouldn't recomment the powered holders.
i had one for my HTC TYTNII and it damaged the mini usb socket on the bottom of the handset.
so just get the holder and use a loose charging lead.
so the set up in my car is:-
Brodit holder
on dashmount bracket (its metal and stronger then proclip)
HTC incar charger
THB cc9060 handsfree car kit with A2DP music
Brodit is the one!!

I emailed Brodit a couple weeks ago. THey didnt have the Touch HD mount yet so i got the adjustable one. Works great!!!! Ive used Brodit for all my PDA's
They may have a mount by now.
Hi has anyone tried this device? It allows the user to transmit music to the car radio? It looks like it connects to the 3mm jack but would the HD support it? Retail on this is about £15 but ebay sell it £6 free postage.
