Any one know the answer? At some point certain O2 Himalaya ROMs contained this functionality and HTC even had a press release stating all their future devices will have BlackBerry capabilities out of the box. I am wondering if they included this in the Universal. Thanks for your insight.

Hi,
seems that I found only one reliable (at least by reviews) VPN client for PPC2003: AnthaVPN, in previous versions aka MovianVPN. I know that older version was pretty bad. How about a new one? Does anybody have experience of using it and could give some thoughts? I'm particulary interested: does it support RSA Tokens, how about MS Mobile 5, does it work with QTEK 2020i (there were some probs with HP's)), does it really support all sorts of wireless connections (WiFi, IrDA, GPRS, BT)? Thanks a lot in advance.
See http://www.onixnet.com/antha/anthavpn_features.htm
Yes it does support RSA SecureID
thanks a lot, Wiz. Yes I saw these specs on Antha site as well. But I'm more interested in practise use of this tool, cause I haven't found any more info except advetising and press reviews... In any case, thanks for the link, there are at least user and concentrator configuration guides available to download.
I have a Verizon XV6700, but am quite new to PocketPC scene. I was wondering if anyone could tell me if there's an WM6 update out there that is compatible with my phone. I've found some of the WM6 roms, and know how to go about installing them...but I haven't found anyone saying they have upgraded an XV6700. Any help would be much appreciated.
This site is alittle encouraging...
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/verizonwireless/default.mspx
seeing as how it shows my phone running Windows Mobile 6
Thanks,
Chris 3D
Have no message about APACHE'S wm6 come out, or any schedule. The MS pages just shows apache that runs WM5, not crossbow.
This is just sad.....135 views and 1 reply
EDIT 186
That's because there are no WM6 ROMs for Apaches. The highest weve gotten is to WM5 AKU 3.5. With this there are some programs from WM6 included but that is about it.
There is some hope that now that the Mogul is out we might be able to get a WM6 working but I wouldn't hold your breathe.
but what if we got a copy of WM6 and tried to load it in the Apache? Would it work? Ive got an extra apache i have been using for testing.......i wonder if I........
There is no generic "copy of WM6" you can get that will work on the 6700. Any copy you find is for any of 100s of different hardware - putting it on your hardware may kill your hardware, or at best just not work.
Just wait, or if you want to help go to ppcgeeks dot com, where helmi_c is working with several folks to bring updated roms to the 6700 (thanks helmi!)
I think?
My apache just got upgraded to WM6 by a fellow xdaer. I am now in love with my pda all over again. My montra had been it is not a good phone and it is not a good pda. It works just not even as good as my xv6600 with ppc2003 on it. It doesn't hang up nearly as much with 6 vs. 5. It seams to work great, better than WM5. Finally I have voice activated dialing again after a hiatus of 4 years! I am actually making this post while looking for the source info that was used refrenced in xdadev.com. Happy hunting I'll try to find my way back here if i find the info.
I just got the xv6700 after having the treo 700wx.
Can some please give me a step by step on how to get wm6 on the device?
Do I download the apache thing directly to the phone and then do the boot mode?
Thanks
I would also like it if someone could post a step by step way on getting WM6 to the xv6700
WM6
for all apache owners who dont kno it has been developed by helmi_c

this is for you guys who dont kno
WM6 for verizon
check out ppc geeks apache upgrades...helmi_c...I've found the latest version works, but you have to be very spartan about your choices of apps. It gets weird if you select too many items and you really don't have any clues other than your apache consistently screws up, i.e., performance declination, programs not functioning as intended, anything that takes away from your machine doing what it is intended to do.
I've loaded the same rom 3 times and all three have behaved in thier owm unique way. I'll be more specific if anyone is interested.
Suffice to say the 3rd time was a charm. I only soft reset maybe twice a week. I do have to be aggressive in my memory management.
Have fun.

This is my first post and I apologize if this question seems to too basic.
I am using Finster's Remote Desktop Mobile cab on my AT&T pre-release WM6 8525 and I can't figure out how to initiate a console session like I do in the Run command in my Windows desktop.
I can access the Run window (hold down the button in the middle of the d-pad then long-tap the clock / battery icon area on the top bar, the release the action button and a popup menu will appear) and know I need to use "/console" switch but what is the path/filename for remote desktop mobile?
TIA
I dont have a solution to your problem, but im more curious about this

Now is this a cooked wm6 rom or an official ATT branded 8525 WM6 rom?

arent we all
To tell you the truth I bought this on eBay and the seller advised me it's an AT&T pre-release.
I've only just started spending time here because I recently transitioned from my custom ROM Treo 650.
My device has an AT&T splash screen but no carrier branded apps like the previously named Cingular Video.
I don't know how to access radio info etc. To my WM noob eyes this looks like it could be a Vanilla ROM with a couple of utilities like HTC X Button, Shadowmite's Customization Tool and a registry editor (though I don't know which one).
I'm finding this ROM though stable a little lacking. I am studying up here so 1. I can dump this ROM for reference and for any interested parties and 2. so I can cook my own ROM. I am a bit intimidated because the file structure for WM is just that much more complicated than Palm's flat file system.
I wish I could tell you more.

sounds cooked.. but one quick way to tell, if there is no PTT icon in the programs menu then its not an ATT WM6 pre-release rom... but regardless, welcome aboard
To access the console session
After you connect (to a non-console session) via remote desktop mobile, on the remote machine, click Start, Run and enter:
tscon.exe 0
-Mark
Mark,
Thanks for the response. I also sent a PM.
I've been doing a similar workaround. After connecting to remote session, from Run or Command prompt I type: mstsc /console

I found a free navigation software package for HTC phones on www.leaf.co.za called Leaf Locate. I suspect it will only have SA maps which would suite me fine. It works great on a HTC phone but not on an iMate like the K-Jam. I have spoken to an engineer at Leaf and they do not want to allow iMate's to use it because they do not have the contract to support iMate - they use to have. As far as I am concerned the K-Jam is an HTC and should be able to run the software. Does anyone know how to get around this ? The software checks for an ID somewhere to determine the type of phone. I would greatly appriciate any assistance.
I have HTC Sprint Mogul. It doesn't work either. That's suck.
I've also tried it on a Jamin, no luck it does work on the HTC P4350.
I suspect it's a registry they look for, it would be great to get it working on our devices. It is a fantastic product.
Used it on my wing and got an error saying it wasn't a HTC device. Could be that I'm running a cooked rom. Kinda bummed looked like a cool program.
Has anyone done this? I've been searching everywhere for things to do with this phone, and the consensus seems to be that a WM6 flash for the 69xx is just not going to happen.
However...
I'd really like to take advantage of the internet connection sharing introduced in WM5 AKU3.
Is there possibly an individual add on that can be installed to enable ICS or is there a aku3 rom that could be flashed?
Forgive me if this has been addressed already.
It would probably help if I mentioned that my purpose for wanting this is so I can try to use my phone as a wireless access point for a laptop (when out of range of a regular WAP) or for my nintendo DS, so that I can geek out in luxury, even in the middle of nowhere.

This helps ?
That link appears to be for an app for phones that have been upgraded to WM6+ already. I'm looking for a way to either update to a version of WM5 that has ICS built in so I can make use of those apps, or find some third-party app that can add ICS to the WM5 version I have.
