I got more screenshots if you want demonstrating this skin, just ask if you want to see more.

Dear,
The double sound panel slider is implanted in the WM2003 Second Edition. I believe your ROM version is still WM2003. Search the forum for the upgrade if you like (Warning: at your own risk )

Question answering time.
Hi,
Thanks alot for the compliments!
@ ThEScReW
The Today Theme (.tsk) needs to be placed in /My Documents or /Windows directory.
The psShutXP skin needs to be placed in the psShutXP directory.
The Wisbar Advanced 2 skin folders need to be placed in /Program Files/Lakeridge Software/Wisbar Advanced 2/Themes
(unless you installed wisbar advanced in a different location)
@twin power
Its already been answered but yes, you need to have the Second Edition i guess.
A good (free) screen capture utility can be downloaded here.
 http://cetoolbox.com/PocketScreenCapture/index.html
I use that utility to capture screenshots too.
@ Echilon
Thats one hell of a compliment

xcilion, great work pal.. that looks awesome.
I did wonder how you did that also when you posted on the today screen thread. Didn't want to bother you asking how though... as i'm fairly new to all this..
Anyways, i have one small question.... how do i get the wallpaper to not be faded ?! Yours looks really vivid and crisp.... mine looks like i'm looking through a foggy window I can't find an option anywhere :?

Hi,
Just a couple of questions.
1. Where does the shutdown directory go that is included in the vista black download?
2. How do you invoke this, is it a Wizbar feature?
Great skin BTW

"Anyways, i have one small question.... how do i get the wallpaper to not be faded ?! Yours looks really vivid and crisp.... mine looks like i'm looking through a foggy window I can't find an option anywhere"
You have to place the .tsk file in My documents or in the Windows Directory.
Then goto Start > Settings > Today
In the menu, select Windows Vista Sunset
The wallpapers are for a beta program called Wisbar Advanced Desktop.
Some people experiment with it, that's why i included wallpapers for it.
@ latts
"1. Where does the shutdown directory go that is included in the vista black download?"
You need a program called psShutXP. Place the two images in the psShut XP directory (default: /Program Files/psShutXP)
To Download psShutXP click on the link below.

I think your running on an older version of Wisbar Advanced.
 http://www.lakeridgesoftware.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=5
In the link above you can download the latest Wisbar Advanced versions. Offcourse your old license number works with the new version.
 Windows Media Player skin is coming soon along with a PhoneAlarm skin.
The windows Media Player will look like WMP 10 but in different colors and a slightly different layout.
As for making a .CAB to make installation easier... i'll take a look at it
I never put .CABs together.

Wow this looks amazing, much better than the original windows looks..
But I have two questions:
- Why does the 'red' button not work anymore in the calling screen.
Is it because of one of these programs I have installed now? (Wisbar Advanced 2 + psShutXP)
The problem is that I can't close the calling screen anymore with the 'red' button, anybody an idea?
- I can't see with this theme/skin if my phone is on the vibration mode, or if it's on the total quiet mode with also vibration disabled. Is it possible to edit this icon, can I do it myself for example?
Thanks in advance.

I say neonstorm's post the other day where he replaced the HTC images in the /windows directory to make new skins. His skins are nice and worth checking out. The weren't exactly what I wanted though.
So... I figured I could do the same thing. Below are a few as examples. I have the WM themes that goes with each one except for the grass if anyone is interested. I thought I would offer to make a few custom skins for people if you are interested. The themes support both portrait and landscape modes. They are QVGA only though.
To Install:
Unzip all images (png) to your /windows directory. They will overwrite the existing HTC Touch Dialpad images. (I have included these below in case you want to revert back) Next, reboot your phone, or disable it off (airplane mode) and end the cprog.exe program. Re-enable the phone and you should be good.
To Request:
If you like this style and would enjoy having a custom skin just ask. I will need an image or both the portrait and landscape modes. If you would rather, just put up the .tsk file you are using for your theme and I can extract them. Depending on the response I will try to get them done within a day or so.
There have been a few other designers step up and help with requests. Most of these start around page 17. If interested check them out! There is a little more information in this post.
Well, I am not a programmer so this is about all I can currently do to give back to this community, at least for now. Let me know what you think! I hope you enjoy!

Wonder if it's possible for these types of dialers to make the buttons transparent, that way, you can just change the dialer background and easily change the dialer theme.
Also, this can work with sprint HTC Touch, but you need indialer_accu_p.png and indialer_accu_l.png which you can make from copying the number bar from the main screen dialer.
Thank you for your great contribution, you are such an artist.
I want to ask for help in creating a new skin for dutty dialpad (forgot what it's called), I found it in hermes or kaiser thread.

ok i have a problem. I extracted the files into my windows directory and when i reboot there are no numbers on the dialpad. just the background. Also the jigsaw zip is actually the grass one.

Sorry about that. The first post now has the correct jigsaw.zip. As for you number issue? I have not seen this before. Check in you /windows directory and make sure the NmBtn0up_port.png and NmBtn0dn_port.png and the like are there and correct. This is just an image substitution so not much that can go wrong.
Original Touch Dialer Images...
Sorry this didn't get into the first post. Here are the original HTC Touch Dialpad images that are replaced with this theme.
Would be nice...

That was my original intent in making this skin. Just make the buttons transparent and then change one or two images to change the whole thing. I originally tried this, but the dialpad doesn't use pngs with transparent alpha layers. (or something like that) I will used the odd purple for complete transparent areas, but the blended areas didn't display correctly.
I am not an expert in this area though, so if I did something wrong and someone knows the correct way to get partial transparency, I will be glad to post up a generic version. As it is, I did the next best thing for me. Scripted up the slice and dice routine in Script-fu (gimp). Now all I have to do is change the back ground and push a button. Almost as easy.
Glad you like it!
Purple for jeffreynew23
Here you go jeffreynew23! If she wants a different background just let me know what it is. I had some free time and thought I would at least throw one together for you quick. Hope she likes it!
These are great. I like the font on the number pad much better than the techy looking default one. Thanks for sharing!
Thank You!!!!

Excellent work
PhilD41 great work. One of the reasons I haven't been using the touch dialer is that it is so ugly. I just stuck the the WM6 one. If I could get the dialer to look like the rest of my theme I would be well pleased.
I am using the theme attached. But I have a feeling that the dark color will make the names in the smart dial list impossible to read. Have a look and let me know if its possible.
Thanks in advance.

I will try to find some time tonight to play with it. I am currently using a fairly dark theme which is still readable. It isn't black though. If nothing else, it is just graphics so I could always lighten up the smartdial area instead of darken it. Hopefully I will have a screen shot for you this evening or tomorrow and see what you think.
Water and Fire Dialpad
Hey maccaberry!!
I think it turned out quite nice!! The dialpad is attached below. I have included a screenshot from my phone below. I have also included a tweaked .tsk file. I make a small change so the top and bottom bars are darker black. You can see the difference in the image below (right two images).
Let me know what you think. If I have time, I might make a PocketCM theme to go with it and add it to my pShades collection.
WaterandFire
PhilD,
Man you are good. This looks fantastic. I am not sure what your pShades is, but I will have to check it out now that I have seen your work.
Thanks so much for your efforts. I have tried to put back into the forums by answering lots of n00b questions so that the developers have time to develop instead of answering questions. But what you have done here is a great way to contribute too.
Thanks so much!
maccaberry
You are very welcome! I am glad you like it. Graphics work has always been a hobby of mine and theming seems a good way to put it to use. With my wife and 18 month old son our of town for a few weeks I have had some time to play.
After about a week of work I have a set of three themes that provide a consistent look on my WM6 device. The one shown below is pShades-Rainbow. I initially had just a HTC-Touch Dialpad theme, but decided to take the time and create a PocketCM theme to match. Eventually I will have a full set for each dialpad theme in the above link. I am also willing to entertain custom themes as time permits. pShades fully supports portrait and landscape modes for QVGA screens. Let me know what you think!

Examples:
Includes:
The Theme zip file includes the following files:
Today Theme .tsk file
Dialpad Theme .zip file
PocketCM Theme .zip file
Portrait and Landscape .jpg files for S2U2 backgrounds
Sample .jpg file (seen above)
Requirements:
These files are dependent on the following applications. Listed are the version I am running.
Today - WM 5 or 6 (WM6)
Dialpad - HTC Touch Dialer
PocketCM - 0.20 or newer (0.20)
S2U2 - Any (0.99p)
To Install:
Today Theme:
Copy the .tsk file to the root of your device (or "My Documents" dir) and select via Start->Settings->Today
Dialpad Theme:
Unzip all images (png files) to your /windows directory. They will overwrite the existing HTC Touch Dialpad images. Next, reboot your phone, or disable the radio (airplane mode) and end the cprog.exe program. Re-enable the phone and you should be good.
PocketCM Theme
Copy the .zip file to the /Program Files/PocketCM/ dir (installation dependent). Go into PocketCM and select the theme from the "Options" screen.
S2U2 Backgrounds
Copy the images to the /Program Files/S2U2/gfx/ directory as file names wallpaper.jpg and wallpaperL.jpg for both portrait and landscape. To be honest, I use S2V to set my wallpapers for S2U2.
To Request:
If you like this style and would enjoy having a custom theme set just ask. I will need an image or both the portrait and landscape modes. Or an image large enough to be used for both. Depending on the response I will try to get them done within a a week. Family takes up much of my time.
Thanks:

Humm. Must be because I am using Total Commander. Try disabling you phone (radio) and closing the cprog.exe program. You may need a tool to view processes and end them. In WM list of running programs.
Anyone else experience this or have a solution.?
First THANKS 4 fast reply,
Will test it with TC, I'm such a newbie^^, just started modding my phone, kay TC
I've already disabled my phone but didn't find the cprog.exe process, Okay,I will search a TaskTool to find it out
when disableing my phone, i cannot copy the PNG-files via PC(USB), cuz i don't have access to my phone-.-
I'm desperate...!

I am sure with the help of the nice folks around here we can figure it out. I wouldn't think disabling the phone (airplane mode) would diable activesync? To be honest, I am a Linux guy so I have never tried copying files via activesync (assuming this is what you are doing).
It might be worth trying something like WM5torage to mount your SD card (if you have one) and then copy them over to /windows from within the phone. That is how I do it anyway. Let me know if you get it working!
Okay, I will never ever copy files via activesync again
THX 4 the TC advice, works well after i have killed all processes xD
BUT^^ after rebooting the dialpad, there is still the same old boring style like before do i have to start the Dialpad extra?^^
Sry 4 my Newbie Questions and sorry for annyoing you
Btw. i installed a Taskmanager called "duttythroy" taskmanager found here, but i can't find it on my phone.^^
I thought i killed the processes with Start->Preferences->(the normal WM6 one) taskmanager?! is Duttythroy only an add-on/extension OR does it run on its own?! im confused.
I only search a tool that shows all processes and let me kill them...

Humm, assuming you have the HTC-Touch Dialer installed from the link above and the images actually copied over to the /windows folder you should have the new dialpad after a reboot or soft resets. The only reason the "end" the cprog.exe process is to load the new images without having to reboot.
As for the taskmanager? I am not familiar with that one, nor did I find much about it. I use TaskManager and love it! Hope this helps.
Nice looking themes.
Glad to see my work helping others make great pocketcm themes

today item order..
PhilD41... first off, these look a pure work of art dude..
OTOH.. how did you get HTC Home plugin to "move" from the top spot on the today screen and have something else show above it??
Whenever I try to do this in setting>personal>today> move item up or down on today, it doesn't let anything go above it! I'm just trying to get Windows Live Search box to go on top so whenever I tap in it, it doesn't get totally covered by my PocketCM Keyboard and making me force to turn landscape mode or or flip the keyboard out in my Tilt...
Sorry for being off topic.. but I just couldn't resist.

Two ways to do it:-
1. You have to edit the Registry
Look in:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Today\Items\HTC Home
Change 'Type' from 5 to 4
Stop and start the HTC Home from settings. You can now go into the usual Today options and put the plugins in any order you want.
2. Or use HTC Home Customizer by choosing unlock in options menu u can move HTC Home anywhere u want.
2 questions....
1) What Today Plugin do you have on top? The one with the Speed Dials? Is it simply PhoneWeaver?
2) What's your process when it comes to getting your PhotoContact pictures to look glassy like that? I've been wondering lately how I can set something like that up but I don't know the dimensions of the contact picture and I'm not sure I want to photoshop all my contact pictures.
Best Regards,
Nik

Thanks, I am glad you like them! They took some time, but I really enjoy having the same feel across my phone! I see that tjkhattak61 answered the HTC Home question. Although, it isn't HTC Home. It is Battery Status with the mentioned theme. I think there are a few HTC Home themes for BS.

That would be SPB Phone. I use to use more of the functions, but now just use it as a quick launch and profile change. I think there are several apps out there that do this.

2) What's your process when it comes to getting your PhotoContact pictures to look glassy like that? I've been wondering lately how I can set something like that up but I don't know the dimensions of the contact picture and I'm not sure I want to photoshop all my contact pictures.

Unfortunately, I am still photoshoping (Gimping) my contact images. I don't know of any program that will display a png with alpha so I am doing it the hard way. I did write a script-fu scrip for the GIMP that automates it. It makes it a little easier.
Thanks for the feed back!!
pShades-Calvary Added
Okay, next addition is up. pShades-Calvary is the first red theme. I am tempted to complete the red reptile theme, but haven't gotten around to it yet. Hope you like it. Anyone have a favorite background they would like to see pShaded?
pshades-pcDude Added
One more for the collection. I still have one or two more I am hoping to get done sometime this week. Still not sure which one I am going to use on my phone. Until then, enjoy my pcDude!
Thanks a bunch.. tjkhattak61

Two ways to do it:-
1. You have to edit the Registry
Look in:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Today\Items\HTC Home
Change 'Type' from 5 to 4
Stop and start the HTC Home from settings. You can now go into the usual Today options and put the plugins in any order you want.
2. Or use HTC Home Customizer by choosing unlock in options menu u can move HTC Home anywhere u want.

Just added pShades-Savior. Created it around my Avatar. We will see how long it lasts on my phone. Hope you enjoy!
So here I am with my second customization thread.
After making my minimal dialer skin click I also found that the Touch Diamond interface for ThrottleLauncher was a bit too dark and playful for me.
So I decided to make a modification to make it all a bit lighter and more stylish. And something like 12 hours later, here I am!
Changed almost all graphics and a lot of settings to make it and app that suits me.

In my opnion that looks a lot better! ^.^
Anyway, I am stuck on a few things and I was hoping one of you could help me out.
HELP ME OVER HERE! xD
1. More of a simple question to brainstorm about.
There is a tab Contacts and a tab Settings, how do I have to make a 4 letter icon out of this? Contacts is now PEPL (people) and settings is now CONF (configuration). I don't like them very much so please help me come up with another one.
2. I don't want the background to be black and there are two options to achieve this.
First of all I could make a tsk that would have the my own background. The problem with this is that if I make one in ThemegenCE, it would go from flat black bars to the glossy grey ones.
Secondly, someone could explain me how to modify the config.xml from throttle launcher so it would load it up with the theme and cover up the original background. The problem with this solution is that I don't know wich line to add. (the parameter=texture gave me problems because it said the skin.xml was invalid?) I think the tsk option is the best so that people could still use their own backgrounds.
Anyway, atm I am working on replacing all icons wich is 40% done or so.

1. CNFG? PEEP? PPLE? hmmm, i see where the problem is...this is kind of hard. CONF sound really good.
Could you use icons instead of text maybe?

I mean change the 4 letter words to little grey silhouettes or simple images.
As for implementing your background in a .tsk, you need a theme editor program... I used one before but can't think of what its called. Or you could just supply us with the jpg and we can set it as our wallpaper. BTW This looks really sweet, about how long untill it's done?
Ok, I think I will release the wall seperate. Unless someone comes with a solution.
I wont change the text to icons because this just looks stylish
The icons for the settings are complete. Some other things to do but first I need to get me some sleep. Tomorrow I think I will finish it.
Good night.
ADDY or ADDR for contacts.
setting is also a nest of eggs (old usage) but EGGS might confuse too much.
I like simple CONF

What does ADDY stand for? never heard of it. Anyway I think CALL and CONF are ok for now. Maybe I'll have a dream with inspiration.
Good night.
just release a background and people can use the allblack tsk floating around and apply the picture you provide as a background through pics and video with 0% transparency, works fine
privacy issue, sorry
PREF would also do it. Though I'm used to CONF by now and realy like it. I hope I'm done with skinning in about an hour and then only alingment etc.
Looks awesome!!! . Really nice work, I look forward testing it . About your questions:
1) For people.... may be something like "PALS"? And for settings...."TUNE"... Anyway I think that CONF is just right .
2) As I see you have done lot of working with the setup I suppose you already know the tutorial. It's true that it's a little bit unupdated.... So, here's how everything is organiced:
- 1rst layer: the background of the today screen back. Will be shown only if the transparency is set to true on the skins.
- 2nd layer: rowbackimage (this one is not documented...). Here you have an example:
Code:
<param name="rowbackimage" value="rowback.png"/>
What it will do is wrap the image to the row size behind it. This image can be a transparent png to show the 1rst layer.
Hope this helps!! If you still have doubts, let me know!!
- 3rd layer: icons .

I managed to get a different BG in the programs tab, by editing the skin.xml in skins/programs. But what if I want to add a BG to e.g. the HOME tab? The settings for the home tab are all in the config.xml and when I add
Code:
<param name="rowbackimage" value="rowback.png"/>
to it, it wont load it up. Is this because the home tab is cut up into different rows?
If you could explain me how to add a ackground into the main config.xml file I would appreciate that alot.
I have some years experience now with the xda-forum. I'm still very pleased (and that's an understatement) with the existance of it. Besides that I find it sometimes difficult to find what I want. Some of the things difficult to find are the m2d-skins that suits the Polaris with its QVGA. Therefore I had the idea to start this new thread for questions about and some posting of Polaris-m2d-skins, -themes and for skin- and/or theme-developing-questions.
Please give your reaction to this idea by rating this thread.
To make a start, this is my first contribution:
in fact the first real contribution to the world of xda. Most of the credits go to the maker of an KeRohGlass-skin but i can't find the creator of that skin anymore. I used his xml to learn about the correct settings. Secondly I used most of the tabs and pictures. With that in hand I made this one. Most important for me was to make it suitable for my Touch Cruise (QVGA), to have the footprints tab and I wanted the possibility the second appointment shown on the home screen.
I also made the corresponding theme.

When you've made your own skin (and corresponding theme) for Polaris (QVGA) or when you have one that works fine with Polaris (QVGA) please post it in the skin-thread. Post the link to it on this thread (where you are now). By that way we can prevent double posting and share the fun by the rules of this forum.

I had this problem with the first themes I tried on my Polaris. It has to do something with the settings of the text-rectangular-coördinates in the 'HTCHomeSettings.xml'-file. There are a few posibilities (when the problem did occur with the skin I posted, otherwise there are others), I'll try them in these order:
1. Try a soft reset.
2. You can try to disable tochflo (settings - today- items - TouchFLO) before installing the new one. After installing the new skin soft reset en enable touchflo again.
3. Aply the theme with the 'windows-download' instead of the m2dc-one, it's also attached to the first post now.
4. Overwrite the HTCHomeSettings.xml-file in your windows folder with the one I aplied in the first post.
Please report me if this stil doesn't work. Its best that you give a screenshot in your post. You can make screenshots with the following app.: View attachment GetPDAScreen.zip

This depends:
1. When you install m2dc it's easy to find your files. In that case they must be under program files - m2dc - themes. In m2dc it's also easy to delete them in it's main menu. So when I was you I would install m2dc.
2, When you do't use m2dc its more difficult but when you're doing it the right way you will overwrite the old files when you install a new theme.
3. When your memory is still full. Disable touchflo (under settings - personal - today - items). Search tot files that start with hh_... (hh stands for Htc Home) and delete theme. Then reïnstall the theme of your choice and re-enable tochflo. It's best to do a soft reset afterwards.

well, no succes. What I found for you was this: View attachment 181384. You can extract the clock-btn from it (it's the 'hh_hm_clock_bg-file).
I don't know how to make top- and softkeybar transparent. You can try to search in the windows-folder for the file and replace or edit it but that means a lot of search-time.
For the transparent slider, you can try to edit mine (it's the 'hh_fw_tabbtn-' and the 'hh_fw_tabbtn_mask-file') out of the windows-skin-folder in the first post.
As you can see it's not much for the moment but I'm gonna try further.

It's not that difficult to learn. What you have to do is find the skin and when it's a m2d-file you have to install it first on your ppc with m2dc. After this you can copy al hh_.....-files to your pc and edit al of them. When the skin is brought to you in a windows-format it's a lot easier because you can skip the m2dc-step. What you can do first is have a look at all your hh_.....-files that are installed as your current skin. I've learned it myself in the same way, the only thing you need is patience and time.
You can also try to get some help here.

You mean you can use it without the 96dpi .cab? Be more specific please!(A)
Which Device do you have, and which ROM, and your screen resolution?
Thanks in advance!

It was nice..everything work fine.
The only thing i don't understand, why i cannot change the background? And also how to re-arrange the widget position on homescreen?
For example i want to put the weather widget on today screen..but it always appear above the other widgets and i cannot move it..is there any suggestion?
Thanks in advance
Moving the widgets (REGISTRY)
1) Right soft key \ Add new widget
2) Start Registry Editor and pont to HKLM\Software\SPB Mobile Shell\Widgets
3) Determine the name of the current panel (in my case Weather Panel). Choose folder based on these rules:
Lifestyle Panel - HomeScreen
Application Panel - HomeScreen2
Music Panel - HomeScreen3
Weather Panel - HomeScreen4
Internet Panel - HomeScreen5
So my choice is Homescreen4.
4) Choose the folder with the maximum integer value, since tha newly added widget should be the last one.
(in my case 35)
5) So now in the Name field I got Analog Clock - so that's my widget.
6) Edit the _tl_320_240 field - that's the position field.
7) Value inside is HEX value (make sure you check the HEX check box) in the following format:
yyyxxx - where yyy are y values and xxx are x values
Bare in mind that 10 in HEX is 16 in decimal, so you don't get all confused.

you can't change the background 'cause the option's not working right now. i hope that someone will make it work and share. that was original point of this thread. positioning and rearanging is described and illustrated in the first post, you should read that, or try with the fake cursor. you can't do it easier 'cause you don't have touch screen, but changing the registry keys is not as hard as it seems, trust me... btw which device and rom do you use?

yeah it works with out the 96dpi cab i have s620-dash tmo running 3VO 3.50 320x240 i see no reason to have it installed
Add my first post on this thread about Moving the Widgets to the First Thread!
Then you won't get any question about moving the Widgets! Maybe it's also easier to add some info about the project, what you did to port it and in which state of development it is, people can't further Develop this nice App if they don't know how you port and change it!

but there is no option to go to options like programs, contacts, activesycn etc... there is only add widget, setting, change layout, change background and show today...

yes, we've removed the links to those options from the menu bar, since there's more room on the screen like this. if you want links to contacts, or any other option of the shell you can place it on any panel you want as a new shortcut.
if you don't know how to do that here's the link:
