Help!! After upgrading my i-Mate to 1.52.00WWE - I thought successfully I am having several problems. I hope they are interrelated and only a settings issue....
(I only have GPRS on O2, but also have a Vodaphone Sim)
SMS
o Sending SMS with O2 - I get a pop up box saying 'Message undeliverable. Make sure the SMS address was entered correctly'
o Sending SMS with Vodaphone - I get a pop up saying 'Your SMS message cannot be sent'
Email
o Sending email from O2 over GPRS - I get a message back saying 'Your message 'subject' was not sent and has been moved to the drafts folder. The following recipients are invalid: <email address>'
o But I can send no problems while in the cradle
MMS
o Will not even start
I have set the GPRS Connection up several times, but I don't think this is the problem as Internet Explorer works. I have also soft reset several times.
I have no idea where to look next. Help ??!!
Ian
OK - Ignore the SMS bit
I worked out the SMS bit - It was my Location Settings and the Address book entry trying to use the number +44 0 7802 xxx.
I've still got problems with Email and MMS.
OK - Ignore the Mail Bit
Sorry ,
The Mail turned out to be the 'Outgoing e-mail server requires authentication' flag.
I'm still VERY VERY Stuck on MMS though. It just will not start!!
MMS startup - My Documents ??
OK, So I got really fed up and couldn't sleep until I had licked this one!
After doing a Hard Reset all worked until I synced with 'Files'. Then after the first Soft Reset MMS stoped working again!!
The work around I have used is to take a copy of the 'My Documents' area on the PC, remove the Partnership AND files from the PC, then sync (including files). I then copied back only the files I wanted to retain into the 'My Documents' folder on the PC.
I answered my own questions eventually - but how annoying, and I still can't work out exactly which file/s were causing the problem.
Hope this helps someone else if you are in the same situation, and you can get it back without a Hard Reset.
Ian
Problems solved
It appears that even if you ask for GPRS with a new account, MMS is not enabled unless you specifically ask for it.
Now its enabled with the supplier, it all works now.
Great forum btw!
I just sent a txt message off my XDA, but it sent it 3 times.. well i assume it did. The sent notification popped up 3 times and i got charged for 3 times(not good when im low on credit  ) Anybody found a solution to this or is it just crappy software again
do you have 'Pocket Plus' installed with the close button feature on? as i found on mine if i did it would send my txt messages 2-3 times as well. got round it by turning that part of the software off.
do this mate:
go into inbox
then click on tools or accounts at the bottom
then go into accounts or options again or what ever it is
cclick the accounts tab
tap the sms account
make sure send message using unicode is unticked and then send texts mate
never get charged more then normal charge then
sorry about not being able to tell you in top detail as i dont have my xda2 t the mo its in repair

has anyone developed software or knows how to alter the setup on XDAII to avoid the following:-
when a text message arrives it disconnects the POP3 e-mail and has to be manually set back onto the POP3 account before picking up any new mail...... this is annoying!
When a message (e-mail or text) arrives it turns on the screen which is then active, if i have been using the phone and not closed the application fully (just hung up using the silver button) when the phone is in my pocket it starts calling the last number or something like that. I had a 10minute international call like this last week AND IT REALLY PISSED ME OFF!!!!!!!!!
so please if anyone knows how to fix these annoying little habits - could you let me know.
Thanks
R

By design, the GSM bearer has higher priority over GPRS "attaching" but not "transmission" ... this means if a phone or SMS comes in the middle of a live GPRS session (data is being sent or received) it will be blocked till the last packet is transmitted ... that's why the caller may got busy tone sometimes and other times not ... depends on the GPRS traffic status ... but since the GPRS is "Always on" in WM2003, the session will be resumed immediately but the application must be designed to keep the last session stack

you can select to lock all buttons except power when the device is off
start -> settings -> System -> Button Lock
cheers Biso,
but even with the buttons locked, a new message turns them all on again for however long the auto power off period is...... and then that is provided that no buttons are pushed!!
the point i was trying to make about the POP3 stuff is that if you have the device set to check e-mails say every 5 minutes, in order to do this the folder in the inbox has to be set to POP3 (or whatever you have named it)
if the SMS folder is open then it wont check POP3.
So every time you receive a text message the SMS folder is opened and it will prevent the device checking for e-mails until you go into the inbox and select the correct folder - ie. POP3!
I know its true that phone calls will interupt the GPRS connection, and that is not really a problem (apart from signing out of messenger).
Anyway thanks
- I never use MMS but i guess that would probably cause the same problems????
Has anyone else experienced any of these problems:
1. Outlook E-Mail (via ActiveSync) doesn't save a copy of sent items even if you check the box to do so in the settings. Very annoying when you want to keep track of what emails you've replied to on the JAM. Any idea how to fix?
2. Certain binary SMS messages don't show up on the phone. It seems that if the JAM doesn't recognize the SMS format (e.g. a vCal or vCard or WAP Push OTA) it simply doesn't even acknowledge the message in any way. No alert tone, no anything, so you never know that a message arrived even if its a type not supported. BTW, i-mate take note: the JAM SHOULD support these formats. They're very common and work on almost all other handsets. They SHOULD be supported.
Any help much appreciated,
Ian
looks like an OS related issue. M$ should have thought of this....
Hi All,
I'm on my 3rd X1 now (1st one came scratched all over, 2nd one had a mechanical fault on the slider). I have gone and setup my email the same as I've done on my previous ones, but it says "logging in... checking email headers 1/32" but never downloads any emails to my phone...?
Any ideas?
Hard reset and try again maybe?
I have the same, sometimes only receives headers and when it tries to download the full emails i get the errors that i stated in this topic:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=499221
go to Ativesync .. tap on Menu , Options .. then tap on E-mail ..
then click Sttings . .
change Download Size Limit to " Entire Message "
