Sandisk 256MB WIFI Problem with my magician - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 General

help...
I could not access the internet after being able to connect to my wireless network. I can see that my wireless network is connected cos I have an IP address and the signal is good but when I launch the internet explorer, i keep getting a message "the page you are looking for cannot be found".
Also I noticed that when I go to settings/connections/network cards/network adapters, i realised that the setting "my network card connects to" is always work. I can't seem to change it permanently to "the internet".
is there something I missed out???

You should have a drop down menu and select "The Internet" or "Work" and when press OK it shoud stay in whatever you select. Do you have the latest drivers from Sandisk, i have one also and don't seem to have any problem with it.

WiFi connection problem.

Hi there,
More wifi problems here! I have read all the relevant posts and can't find any help yet, so;
Basically I have an unlocked ex-T-mobile MDA Vario that I'm trying to connect to wifi.
I have tried to connect to my home wifi network and several other networks but can't actually make things work; my Vario sees the network and in my home case actually says connected, but when I open up Internet Explorer it opens up a box saying 'The page cannot be found. Check the name and try again.'
Under the Wireless LAN settings I'm not sure if I should be putting something in the fields for LEAP or ENROLL and I'm not sure what goes in there anywhere - under Enroll it asks for username and password and server - are these necessary and what are they?
Incidentally my Vario can log onto the wireless router because I can type in the IP address and alter settings - I just can't get past it to the actual internet.
Any help would be much appreciated - in basic terms please!
Thanks again.
In the settings page, got to the connections tab, then to "Network Cards" make sure that on the "Network Adapters" tab where it says "My network connects to" you have "The Internet".
Then again on the connections tab, select "Connections" go to "Advanced" click on "Select Networks", on the botton where it says "Programs that automatically connect to a private networks should connect using" pick a connection that doesn't have a modem set up or proxy settings.
I don't know if these are the exact rules, but that is how I have mines set up, let me know how it went.

Vario II - Can connect to internet or local share but not both at the same time?

I've got my Vario II conected up to my local wireless network.
If I have the wireless network interface set to "The Internet" then I can connect to the internet, but I can't connect to any of my local shares.
If I have the wireless network interface set to "Work" then I can access my local shares through the file explorer (\\myPC\myshare) but I can't use the internet.
Is there any way around this problem? This whole thing with different network types seems to be rubbish - or at least very confusing. What's wrong with just having a normal network connection?
Anyone?
Have you tried to configure only 1 network in the ppc connection manager?
so that internet and work network are the same.
Houser
How do I do that?
Both "the internet" and "work" came pre-configured and I don't think I can delete either one of them?
In the connections manager I have two entried on the "tasks" tab - one says "T-Mobile Internet" and the other says "My Work Network".
If I "manage existing connections" on the internet tab I can see just one t-mobile internet account setup. As far as I can see, there is nothing setup under "my work network".
You must go to the Advanced tab in the connection manager.
Then goto "Select network" and select for private network access
the same internet network from above.
Houser
Ah ha! That did the trick.
I had looked at that before but I didn't understand exactly what it meant, and the manual is next to useless......
Thanks!

MacBook's Internet over Bluetooth to 8525

I am wanting to share my MacBook's Internet connection over Bluetooth to 8525 w/ WM6 on it. I dont have a data plan on my phone and i need every way possible to get my phone online.
I have turned on Internet Sharing on the MacBook (running leopard) over bluetooth, but i am unsure what to do on the phone to connect it to the MacBook. I went to Start - Settings - Connections - Wireless LAN - Menu - Network Cards - Network Adapters (there has to be a better way to get to this point) and set My network card connects to: "The Internet". Below this i clicked Bluetooth PAN Driver and set the next option to "Use server-assigned IP address". I left the name servers blank and ok'd out of everything.
im not sure what to do next. i dont see how to try to connect from my phone. I saw instructions here http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=InternetOverBluetoothNetwork
which is not for a mac but it has the phone instructions but it mentions clicking the "bluetooth manager" and "join a personal network" on the phone and i cant find this anywhere.
any ideas on what i am doing wrong or how i can do this?

Browsing shared files over Wifi

I'm having some problems connecting to my shared drives/folders on other computers from the Titan. I've tried a few different applications and I can usually see the other computers, but I can never access any files.
I tried the File explorer - Menu- Go to - Open Path. Then tried both the ip and the computer name (\\192.168.1.2\d or \\OldPC\Cdrive) Or even just the root of the computer. I always get this message back no matter how I type things out. "Cannot connect with current connection settings. To change your connection settings, tap Settings,"
From there I don't know what settings would need to be changed. I set everywhere that I could find, "this network card connections to..." Work rather than internet. In case the path was trying to be used for looking up web address rather than computers on the network.
I'm kind of at a loss here. I've never had a problem with network shares. They work fine from computer to computer, but not PDA to computer. I've tried a few programs with will let you map drives, and I basically get the same message of "The network path was not found" leading me to believe it's trying to process it as a web address rather than a local one. Any ideas on what could be wrong?
Go to settings, then to the Connections tab. Click on the Wi-Fi icon in the connections menu. That should show you the available wireless networks. Check to make sure that it says you are Connected to the wireless network you're trying to use. If you are connected, click on the wireless network. It should open the "configure wireless network" menu. Make sure next to "connects to:" the drop down box is set to "work" NOT "The Internet". Then click next, next, finish. You should now be able to see the shared files on the PC your connecting to.
Hope that helps.

Strange behaviour when trying to connect to network shares

I have another thread in here with "what happened to "My work network"" since that doesn't seem to work as it should. This may be related: With the connections set to Work, I can't access network shares and get "can not connect" and the option to change conection settings. That's strange. But this is stranger: If I set the connections to my 3G network provider (Telenor) and try to open a path in File manager it first connects to 3G or Edge (no 3G at home...), and then it actually connects to the network share!
Can somebody please tell me why this is happening? I have tried setting both the Broadcom adapters to both The Internet and Work, but nothing helps.
I have everything set to "the internet", "work" is completely unused. Everything works perfectly.
Strange. I don't even have "The Internet" in my Connections. I have "My ISP" and the stuff my cell provider has put in. Should I add one connection called "The Internet", or what?
Settings -> wireless -> WLAN -> advanced -> network cards -> network cards tab
Make sure when you select the DHD network adapter the dropdown "My network card connects to" is set to "the internet".
Thanks, but like I said in the first post I have tried to set both that and the other Broadcom there to both Work and Internet, and none of them works.
