I have installed TomTom 5 on my MDA but there is no keyboard to input addresses.
does anyone have any ideas. Other than throwing TT5 away which is coming kinda close.
think the 5.1 update fixed this.
do a search for tomtom and keyboard, you're not the first

Hi I have an O2 XDA2i. while navigating with tomtom, if a call comes in and I answer it I cannot hear anyone, not sure if they can hear me either. I am using a Bluetooth GPS. Does anybody have a fix for this? or am I alone in this problem ? Also, even if I close tomtom down I cannot get hear anything while making a call...only option is to reset the phone.
...grrrrr.......
on a side note..... Does anyone have an XDA2i that has a blutooth car kit that works without echos?
Cheers,
Gary.
Installing the Tom Tom GPS 3.07 update reslved a lot of the problems I have using Tom Tom BT and a BT headset.
Install it after everything else and remove SD card before install.
still locks up every now and again but its about as good as I can get it to work.
Tom Tom don;t seem to give a damn about this problem.
There's nothing like a satisfied customer and I'm nothing like a satisfied customer
@princegary
please check this link:

as tomtom declares:
...Therefore this update can also be used if you have:
an HP63xx Pocket PC (+ Bluetooth GPS)
MDA2/XDA2/QTEK2020
so it is not really for xda2i, but you'll see... (I don't see a reason for not working with it)

I do not know, that you only mistyped or really used TomTom GPS 3.07 INSTEAD OF TomTom Navigator 3.07, but if so - give it another try...
Maybe it helps to be satisfied! 8)
I tried the full 3.07 update and same problem still existsed.
I've now installed the 5.0 upgrade and this does seem to have resolved the problem.
All is not perfect as Tom Tom has stopped running twice for no apparent reason but all I need do is restart the application. I think it might be more to do with it loosing the GPS BT signal rather than a problem with the software compatibility. Only two days in so I'll let you all know how I get on through the week.
the only problem I had with tt3.07 on my xdaII, that sometimes it loaded so slowly, I started it more than once - after a soft reset, the problem's gone
but never stopped during/because of a call (neither destinator 3.075 did so far)
so, maybe just your device...
I upgraded to wm2005g and tt5 and having no problem at all (so far  )
As I mentioned TTN5 seems much better, much more stable.
Would love to upgrade to WM2005 but as I understand it it doesn't work on the XDA2i only the XDA2 and the XDA2s.
HI there,
Does TOMTOM 5 work fine on XDA IIi? I have just read another forum here, that TOMTOM 5 is not compatible with the XDA IIi
I am about to upgrade and get the XDA IIi, i would appreciate if you could let me know.
thanks
nya
I upgraded across the weekend and so far Tom Tom Nav 5 has worked pretty well on the XDA2i.
As mentioned it has given up on me twice but I don't think this is due to incompatibility
thanks for the quick reply, just one more question please what GPS receiver are you using?
thanks in advance
Regards
nya
It's unbadged, bought it off of e-bay, please see link below

I installed TomTom 5 and the problem is solved! Call came in and I thought Damn... but I picked up the call and it was fine TomTom even resumed after the call which I was amazed at.
My only problem now is that I got a new 1gb card and tomtom hates it, or atleast my XDA2i does. Would it be better for me to just buy a 512mb for my sat nav apps? or is there a recommended brand of 1/2gb card that works happily on the XDA2i and TOMTOM 5?
Hello Everybody!
I've got the following problem. I installed Tomtom 5 and can not get my Royaltek Bluetooth GPs mouse working with it. I tried much of things that are posted here but still nothing. The mouse is a Sirf III (RBT2001 of Royaltek)
With TomTom Navigator 3 i had after GPS update to version 3.07 no problems. I selected there: Sirf bluetooth device, and for connection: bluetooth GPS.
In Navigator 5 i tried also to let it communicate by assigned COM port 5, the connection light on the GPS mouse shows that it is connected to my MDAII but Navigator 5 keeps saying no GPS.
Anyone has an idea what to do, modify or use?
Thanx in advance.. really looking for at least any tips or tricks.
Greets, Remon
Am i right that i miss the option: Bluetooth GPS, what is there in TomTom Navigator version 3 and version 4.4 ??
Greets, Remon
After installing first version 4.4 and get it working there and then installiong Navigator 5 it is in some strange way just working now!!!!!

I have just installed TomTom 5 on my XDA IIs (the one with the slide out keyboard). Everything is fine except that the TomTom touch screen keyboard won't display; I can use the XDA slide out keyboard but this is very fiddley when on the move...I want to use the TomTom touch screen keyboard. Is there a fix for this bug? I am guessing that the problem is related specifically to the XDA IIs as I have the software installed on an Ipaq pocket PC that has no hard keyboard and TomTom displays the touch screen keyboard as is normal.
Hi gtemco,
Have you applied the latest TTN 5.21 for Pocket PC from Tomtom? This patch is aimed for WM5 devices and might sort out your problem.

An excellent source of information on Sat Nav matters is www.pocketgps.com.
Good luck.
Alan.
Anyone with experience of both care to voice an opinion?
I'm a long time TT user, but I'm getting a bit sick of performance issues of v6 on the Tytn.
With the advent of a GPS with built in TMC and Destinator's compatibility with it, I'm very seriously considering it.
However I saw an Acer PNA with Destinator on it and the UI looked pretty unwieldy, so I'm not too sure.
Any opinions?
Ouuuh Destinator is Bull****. TomTom an Navigon are the best, i prefer Navigon, but v6 ist not yet out for PDA and there isn't a "activation fix" for v5 on WM5 (for WM2003 and PNA there is a keygen), so i'm using TomTom 6 on my Prophet, without problems or performance issues or something like that.

I don't have a Tytn, but an ooooooold Himalaya, until a few weeks, I was using Tomtom, but I decided to change because of too much bugs. Pocket pc freezing, Tomtom crashes because SD card not found anymore, crash when someone calling and it is worse in Tomtom 6.
So I found I-go, and I'm very happy, it's fast, it doesn't crash, it is very stable, it is very easy to use, I won't come back to Tomtom for sure....
Cheers,
.Fred

Navigon on WM5
Hi Folks,
I have Navigon Mobile Navigator 5, version 5.2.6 with a cracker to allow "backing up" maps. If anyone is interested, happy to share. It worked out of the box with my Magician (MDA Compact with WM2003) and no problems installing on MDA VARIO II (Tytn) with WM5.
I don't use TMC as I do not have a receiver.
Navigon interface is OK, with good loud spoken instructions, great when driving in Rome on hols.
Regards
Richardracer
I use both D6 and tom tom V6 on my trion.....no problems at all with both programs.......but i do prefer then TOM TOM over the D6......i reckon the interface is a lot better and load up is quicker from the start and after putting in an address the TOM TOM seems faster to load.....few hang ups on TOM TOM but all i had to do was go back to the today screen without closing the program and then back to TOM TOM....and everything is fine again.....
Destinator 6
I bought Destinator 6 last week.
While TomTom is faster and the UI is nicer, I do prefer the directions given by Destinator. They are easier to follow while driving. The Australian map is also much more accurate that the one coming with TomTom 6. Before I was using a VDO device mounted in my car, and I guess Destinator is closer to the VDA interface that's why I prefer the Destinator.
There are a few very annoying bugs with Destinator 6 on my imate JasJam. Most of the time there will be no sound: so no vocal instructions.
From time to time it will refuse to see my BT GPS, while both TT6 and the GPS test application has no problem opening the serial port.
If I reset the JasJam then Destinator find the BT GPS without any problems.
If Destinator vocal instructions worked, it would be a winner for me. It has never crashed on me so far. While TT6 crashes from time to time.
I think TomTom v6 is the best after using them both.
Hi!
Aside from the earlier TTN 6.03 issues we discussed here before, I discovered something else.
It's not possible to use the D-pad/joystick to zoom in or out the map while navigating. Setting the volume (left/right) works, but zooming (up/down) doesn't.
This DOES work with 6.03 on other devices and it DID work with Navigator 6.00 on the X7500.
Ofcourse, you can use the + and - onscreen, but using the joystick is much easier.
I think it's the X7500 with TTN 6.03 again, but just to make sure I'm not the only one, please post your comments.
Mine (HTC X7500 Advantege WM5 ROM Spanish) has left & right in joystick to control the volume. Up & down does nothing. Press joystick goes to TT6 menu.
Soo looks like yours.
I have to agree. Same thing happens to me. No zoom on D-pad Joystick.
I don't use the zoom that often, so haven't noticed until it has been mentioned.
Not sure it is a X7500 thing, on my iPaq 6915 the map zooming did not work either with the joystick (TTN 6.03)...
On my T-Mobile Ameo with HTC WM6 german rom it doesn`t work, no zoom with Joystick up and down, only left right for volume works. TT 6.03
mike
minecan zoom in and out with no problem at all.
I'm using dopod u1000 with official ROM
TomTom 6.032
On the new kaiser version of tomtom 6.032 it still doen't work. It has also still the no sound problem when starting tomtom withthe gprs/umts connection active.
