Orange M500 (Qtek S100) is a Magician right? If so, than why do I get ERROR 100: MODEL ID ERROR? Is not a Magician?
decrypt radio_.nbf with
xda3nbftool.exe -x radio_.nbf radio_.nba 0x20040523
change device type with this command
xda3nbftool.exe -sd PM10B radio_.nba
correct checksum with
xda3nbftool.exe -c -u radio_.nba
encrypt radio file back
xda3nbftool.exe -x radio_.nba radio_.nbf 0x20040523
and then run maupgradeut again!
Thats all

Upgrade to radio 1.13 and then restore to 1.12...
Any idea, when I upgrade to Radio 1.13 and then restore from a backup (with Radio 1.12) will I overwrite any systemfiles from Radio 1.13 with 1.12. In other words: will I lose the upgrade when I restore?
You don't have to erase or make a backup of your magician when you JUST update the radio.
Just put your magician in bootlader mode and apply the radio.nbf.

Dear tupisdin,

No success.

Hello
I have a serious problem with my XDA Qtek 1010 on the radio part.
In the bootloader i got " GSM ERROR" due to an error in flashing procedure.
I can back-up my ROM and bootloader and GSM part as well.
The problem is that I have found a lot of files to flash my ROM part bu nothing for the RADIO part.
Is there anyone so kind to help me and send a file ( or a link to download from ) from the radio part ( in SD format ) ?
Thanks,
Silviu C.
It would help if we knew what Radio stack you were running before the upgrade?
radio version before upgrade
I am not sure about initial radio version. It was an upgrade that is for sure.

Ok locate and copy the below files to your devices windows folder and run RSUpgrade.exe to restart the upgrade. (note this is an old method but it might still work).

Friends,
I need help unlocking a HTC Wallaby that I got from a friend. I would like to use the phone with Cingular and my friend is with TMobile.
I tried to run "XDA-developers-SER-v12" but get the following errors.
CMD Error:
ERROR : GetConnectionType
"An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host"
"error getting connectionType"
This is followed by Programme A launching off - but gets aborted after 2 steps:
ERROR 011: Execute Remote Communication Program Error
"Cannot execute the remote communication program. Please make sure that the USB/Serial cable is properly connected"
I am using a USB cradle and the ActiveSync is working perfect.
Here are the full device details:
HTC Wallaby PW10B1

Rom Date 02/04/04
Radio Ver 6.25.02

Yes, I did try XDAunlock.....it does'nt work.....actually according to the instructions that are posted.....its not supposed to work for the model I have....still trying does'nt harm
Will keep trying and keep posting.....
Thanks.
I think you need to flash rom with special edition using sd card method as long as your bootloader allows this. If not you may have to patch bootloader then try it.

Hello Stefan,
Thanks for your message/tip.
I tried doing this based on the instructions given. Here are my queries and feedback:
QUESTION>
I tried to back-up the existing bootloader+CE on the SD card and the copy process in itself was successful -- but after this the screen instructions are not clear
a) how should I EXIT the back-up program??
b) at what point do I pull the SD card from the device (as soon as it says that back-up is complete??
c) how do I shut the device??
FEEDBACK + QUESTION>
I tried to put the bootloader (5.15) into the device by running the specified dos command. I get the following error.....
C:\XDA\xdatools>pnewbootloader bootloader_v5_15.nb0
'C:\XDA\xdatools\pput.exe' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
ERROR: ITReadProcessMemory - Unspecified error

PLEASE HELP!!
cruisin-thru said:
Once the backup is complete you can remove the card and soft reset.
Backup the existing bootloader and operating system using card reader
Wipe the SD card (format FAT). Stick the SD card back into the pda and soft reset, then cradle it.
Go to a DOS prompt and CD to where you have extracted the XDATools
Type 'pnewbootloader bootloader_v5_15.nb0' to write the Wallaby 5.15 boot loader to the device.
The output looks like this:
D:\XDAtools\binaries>pnewbootloader_40116 bl515.nb0

A) When you say "Once the backup is complete you can remove the card and soft reset" does it mean that I can remove the SD card while the device is still in the "bootloader mode" and then soft reset to close the device??
B) The second part of your message is what I precisely tried and got the above reported error msg. Anything wrong that I was attempting?? OK one thing is I had formatted the SD card on the Wallaby itself not on any card reader.....could this be an issue??
Thanks!!!
You should format the card on the pc in a card reader and choose fat and not fat32. Yes you can remove the sd card while in bootloader.

I am trying to do this by flashing the device via SD card. I am running the OSImageTool to copy the "nk.nbf" file to the SD card.
Once that is done, I am trying to read the size of the copied file. Here are the two scenarios I have:
1. When I had formatted the card as FAT (from my SD reader) and then copied the nk.nbf file - it reports a size of 0 bytes
2. Next I formatted the SD card in the XDA and this time after copying the nk.nbf file - I am getting a file size as 512 bytes.
Question is that the actual filesize of nk.nbf is 31,745 bytes.
Am I on the right track??......what is the right way to do this.
Thanks.
Rom is written in special format to the sd card. Normally you're not able to read the file directly at the card. If you insert the sd card in your xda with running OS you should get an popup that asks you if you want to format the card. So it's not the normal FAT Format used for flashing....
Therefore it could be you're getting different results.

Just a quick snapshot:

-- For copying the nk.nbf file - I had formatted the SD card in the XDA itself (I am not sure whether this is relevant or not) - but just to record how I did it.

ROM > 3.17.03 ENG
Radio > 6.24.00

You should expect the process to pause at 80% and 95%. Fear not, it will run its couse to 100%.

Given that crossbow is now floating around out there I was wondering if its possible to cook your own ROM for the Herald? I would happily start researching cooking ROMS etc. if it is. Or are we faced with a situation similar to that of the hermes where we need to find a bootloader that allows the flashing of unsigned code?
Hi,
i think the Problem is that Herald is not so popular as the Wizard and Prophet by now....
Let´s ait and see when someone is getting this nice one unlocked !
you are in the same situation as the Hermes.
AFAIK all devices using NBH for rom upgrades, need the upgrade file to be signed, otherwise bootloader won't flash it.

thanks for the answer (not the one i was looking for though!), i noticed in your hermes thread that you managed to get your hands on the bootloader from a pre production hermes. has this helped? should i be looking for the equivelent for the herald?
It helped because it has the commands to flash unsigned code... i don't know if preproduction bootloaders in Herald will have the same "feature", but it may be handy if you can get one too
I can try looking but i wouldnt know where to start! any advice would be appreciated.
Bootloader of Herald is similar to that of prophet and wizard. The only differrence now is the nbh format. One needs to check if awizard work or not? Then we canthink of debranding.I am working on the Bootloader of herald. Will post everything in Wiki.Pls wait for some time

Thanks to aWizard v 1.3 beta2 and POF for making NBH extract..
I was able to flash my herald from 1.7 dopod asia to new HTC 1.8 without changing/touching IPL/SPL.Here is how to do :
1)Use POF's NBH extract and extract the ROM parts.
2) Copy the OS.nb to awizard ROM folder and rename it to.nba
3) From the Lib folder of awizard, transfer enable rapi and certsps cabs to yr device and install them.
4)Now run the batch file and select "e" to enable rapi.
5) Then you can directly choose the option "w".This will give you the option to choose the ROM u want.Select and wait till awizard finishes.
One can also back up the Extended ROM, Splash image, bootloader, Radio and OS ROM with awizard.
It is very interesting that the size of the .nb file extracted from NBH file and the size of the wizard ROM(80040000.nb) is exactly same.
I tried to put crossbow image into it..but I clouldn't boot the herald. The boot screen showed "OS 10.1.00.88
So if some one can extract the things from both the .nbs we can think of having crossbow in herald..and I think POF can do it.
I hope, this helps the members to upgrade and play with their toys.
You Rock
Finally !!!! Did it. followed the instructions and wallaa finally dutch rom Bye bye bye and Hello English Rom.
Thanx Guys you rock
Look'n forward to crossbow soon.
Very nice discovery hdubli!!
Unfortunately I don't have Wizard nor Herald, and I have not much experience in ROM cooking... you should ask the real gurus here if you want to port the Wizard's xbow to Herald.... I saw it was ported to Prophet, but I don't know about the internals of Herald and Wizard enough to say if this can be also done here or not.
Anyway, kudos for your finding!
P.S. You should add this info to the wiki!
well done hdubli, this is serious progress!
I have no experience of ROM cooking, however I have both a Wizard and a Herald, so if I can help in any way just let me know.

I do the same thing as you did, tried to put crossbow image into it, and it boot up and freeze at the start screen, so now I have the problem, how to put the old OS back?
I have back up the OS ROM, but my machine can only boot into the tri-color screen, how did you do on your machine, please tell, it will hellp me out.
Thanks

Hi!
If I cook my own ROM using the core pro kitchen for Artemis, what is the necessary steps I have to do to repack the rom into i nbh file and be able to flash it with the RUU utilities? I guess this is be possible now that we have the USPL, thanks to Pof and all the other geniuses in this forum.
Regards,
PK
All existing tools for making NBH work fine with hermes / trinity, but not with artemis as signature positions differ. To create artemis NBH you have to use this method, until a better tool to automate this is done.
1) Use nbhgen.exe to create NBH (edit sample.txt)
2) nbh2dbh.pl RUU_signed.nbh file_unsigned.dbh
3) imaghash.exe -raw file_unsigned.dbh file_signed.nbh 1024
I'm making a tool for this at the moment, it is almost finished, but I can't test the generated .nbh's because T-mobile still has my Artemis in repair!!!
today Mr.Dark simpson release HTC rom tool Repack *.nb ---> Nbh

Hi!
Thanks a lot for these great advice. I relay start thinking of cooking my own ROM, it seems like all the tool is quite mature now, both the core pro kitchen and the Mr. Dark Simpson's authoring tool.
One thing I could need some more advice about though, is how to make an OEM package, or where do download already created packages.

PK

If you want do some OEM package...!
May be OEM Storage 1.75.
Extract All File in Storage 1.75 cab
Copy to Folder Storage 1.75
All reg in Storage 1.75 cab copy to Notepad and see link :
http://www.famkruithof.net/uuid/uuidgen
That it ID.Maybe : 6b44e778-1c4d-11dc-8314-0800200c9a66
Save all reg Storage 1.75 name 6b44e778-1c4d-11dc-8314-0800200c9a66.rgu ( Save to Unicode Format)
And Create file empty 6b44e778-1c4d-11dc-8314-0800200c9a66.dsm in Folder Storage 1.75
Now you have OEM Storage 1.75
Cheers..!
Quick question
Is there a way to replicate 1 xda orbit onto another? The reason I am asking this is because I have killed my xda orbit to the point where it hangs on the "O2 Welcome Screen". It does however boot up into bootloader mode and I can connect to it using mtty.exe. My mate has an xda orbit which was bought at the same time as mine... is there anyway to mirror that device onto mine so that it starts working again?
