Not so legal Question!!! - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

ok I'll get straight to the point.......Most mobil phones and smartphones is stolen or lost are able to be locked blocked from use by the phone company so they are not usable if found or stolen.......is this true with PPc phone edition's like BlueAngel (O2 Xda IIs)................and if so is there a work around this?...... and before anyone asks i legal own my BlueAngel...its just that i lost my first one so claimed one on the insurance for it recieved my new one that was about 4 months ago...but 2 weeks ago a mate of mine found my old one that went missing after we went camping it got packed away with the camping gear...........so now i have 2 but one i am too scared to put a sim card in to use or try...........can anyone give me info about this cause I'd like to give it to the GF to use........

The lost/stolen phone will be blocked on all networks, it will be useful to somebody outside your country as a phone and pda but useful to you only as a pda, why not set it up as a navigation system/mp3 player for your car? There is no way that I know of that can alter imei which is a crime in UK and carries a maximum 5 years inprisonment plus fine.

cruisin-thru............
Thanx i mite have to do that set it up as a "navigation system/mp3 player" good idea......................

yeh well if u search harder u could find ways to change IMEI i have already came accross sites explaining how to ... but clearly its illegal ... even if u were gonna change ur IMEI to string to the identical one the insurance gave u bak ...

cant make fonecalls

hi.
any one who know about my problems pls help...
ive bought a xda 2 from the net and it seems like i cant make any fonecall nor recives any fone calls via my fone. its seems like its been block but i only can recieves and send sms with it, the fone have been unlock. any one who know about this probles or how to resolved it pls help and would this fone works outside the uk (Brunei) help needed pls.....
If it is blocked in UK it will word in rest of the world, you need to unlock the phone or try an O2 sim card before you give up though.
have been unlock but cant make fone call
the fone have been unlock. which i can use the vodafone sim and o2 for sms.
a gsm triband phone will work on all gsm networks which use 900/1800/1900
if it's blocked even if the network support those frequency then maybe it's a imei nr block but then i suppose it would not be able to send sms
what makes it blocked
what makes it blocked in the first place. hope it will work back home in brunei.
suhardee, a phone is blocked if reported stolen or if a claim for insurance is paid out, once the insurers pay out they want to make sure that it cant be used again on the networks, would make more sense to reclaim the broken phones and get some of their money back by selling them.
hemmm
so basically ive bought a stolen phone or a fone which have been claim for its insurance. but just hope it works back home in brunei coz ive unlocked it already. thanks for clearing this up for me. but how would the fone compeny blockd it coz i didnt bought the fone with any sim card is it via the imei number? coz that is the logical explainations. i think it might work in brunei coz at home eventhow mobile is the same advance as in the UK but i dont think the mobile compeny in brunei is that advance.
this forum have a automatic dictionary which mean that if you hold your pointer on top of the place where you wrote imei then you'll get a popup explaining 100% what it is and where it's located
thanks
thanks every one who makes things clear for me... by this weekend i will know if he fone works at home or not.....

Can O2 lock your phone if it is Stolen?

Never a nice thought some one is flicking thru your contacts and private photos.
No they can onlu IMEI block it to prevent it making calls, consider using the built in password options.
they can imei bar it but the orbit works without a sim in terms of browsing stuff so I guess so, unless you set up a handset pin as well as a sim pin
What happens if they put a different sim card in there before i tell O2?
Can you still search around on the device with Active Sync if there is a lock.
it will still imei bar the handset, I would guess so re the active sync q, bes thing is to put a handset pin in
i take there is a hack to unlock the IMEI after they have blocked it.
No there is no hack unless you phyically flash the phone to change the IMEI as i amware this is not possible.. well probably but more likly to completely f*** the phone up.
Now there is a small thing there is no INTERNATIONAL blacklist for IMEI i think the EU or atleast many EU countries are linked so you cant just go to France from UK and use a bared IMEI but i know it u go to like Thailand you can (gave my girlfriend a phone i had when she was on holiday and it worked that was bared here because i reported it stolen and then it turned up).
Anyway no-one on here will help you change an IMEI its to risky for all they know you may have stolen it. (this is not an acusation in ANYWAY) However there are those that will try this sort of technique.

HTC Hero on three mobile UK

Not sure if this the correct place to discuss, however i have a HTC Hero on three , i have gold carded it back to generic rom and wanted to remove the carrier unlock, however nobody seems to be able to do this, the IMEI number is coming back as unrecognized. I would really like to use this in place of my work phone with a Vodafone SIM , has anybody come across this problem and been able to work around it ?

the imei database may not have ben updated yet, that is why yours is not recognised.
does anybody have any experience of how long the updates take to the database ? I have had money refunded from 2/3 unlock companies i have tried. Unlock-Now have gone quiet on me ... not sure if they are working behind the scenes to fix or because i mentioned the word refund

Tracing grand 2? - please reply.

Hello,
to all of you.
I want to know some things about Mobile Phone, I hope You understand this question and I'll get replies.actually, my friend has found a new Grand 2 Mobile phone still packed in box on road, I know it seems weird but "its true", and He tried to search the owner of the Phone but he got no clue, that is just a Grand 2 packed nothing else, no bill, no address, nothing, and he is little nervous that's why he doesn't want to inform about this to some P.Station (you know India Polise), so he decided to start using this device, but before that he wants to clear some things, he doesnt want to be in a some kind of mess, so please reply,
1.If we don't put sim card in Mobile, and keep the device off removing the battery, then Are Mobile Operator or Mobile Manufacture able to trace the Mobile or not?
2.Is it possible to change the IMEI number of the Mobile, If yes then Can you tell me How? or tell me the link on web?
3.Because Nothing is set up on phone till now, as I told this is packed, if we put sim card in Mobile is there any possibility by which the mobile can be traced?
4. If he only use this device as a media player, then what are the chances of something went wrong?
P.S : He found this device ten days ago, and he tried to search the person who bought this from the nearby sellers(actually he found it on very busy road), but found nothing.
Thank You.

There is a method to change the IMEI.
However, it is illegal in North America and many other countries.
I'm sorry I can't give you a link as this is illegal in the States, but keep looking around.
It's probably legal in India (a big country with the world's second biggest population ... who can trace you anyway?)
If you operate the device without a SIM card (airplane mode) or any form of Internet communication, no one is able to trace you, unless it is the CIA.

Wouldn't it be easier to just connect it to a hotspot? That's what I do with my boy's tablet.
By the way how long have you had the tablet? If you've had it long enough it may be eligible for a free unlock.

no mate because i still cant put a sim in it that way i will ask voda though... they were not too helpful last time
